Chapter 22

Sophia's POV ~I laid wide awake in Dylan's arms. I checked my phone and it was like 3:30am. I just couldn't sleep. Dylan was sound asleep with his arms around me. I turned so i was facing him. His lips slightly parted so he could breath, i smiled as i looked at him. I went to roll back over when Dylan blinked open his eyes."You're still up?" He asked."Yeah just can't sleep thats all." I said. He kissed my nose and smiled."What time is it?" "About 3:30, why?" I said. Dylan got up out of bed. "Where are you going?" I asked."Well you can't sleep right?" He asked."Yeah.... And?" "Well i want to take you somewhere." He smiled."But its-" He cut me off."I know its early, but who cares. Don't make me get you up." He smirked. "Fine..." I sighed, he laughed at me.I put on my boots and Dylan changed into warmer clothes. I grabbed my phone and shoved it in my pocket. Quietly we left the room so Robert and Tyler wouldn't wake up. Dylan put on a coat."Ready?" He asked."Yup." I smiled."No coat?" "Don't have one just my sweatshirt." I said he shrugged his shoulders. We walked for a little bit outside neither of us saying anything. "Where are we going?" I asked."First Wawa but the other place is a surprise." He smiled and kissed the top of my head. Going into Wawa it was surprisingly busy. I'm guessing the really early morning commuters. Dylan and i walked over and got some hot chocolate. While waiting on line to pay i realized how much shorter i was then Dylan. He was standing behind me with his arms wrapped around me, his chin was placed on the top of my head. "Why am i so short?" I asked as we moved a person up in line."What? Your not short Soph." Dylan said."Well im short enough for you to be able to put your chin on top of my head." I said. "Soph, your not short. I'm 5'11", how tall are you?" He asked."5'5 1/2" I said."Your not short thats average." He smiled. It was finally our turn to pay."Dylan?" The girl running the cash register said."Hey Calleigh!" He waved."How are you? I haven't seen you since you moved!" She said excitedly. I had no clue who this person was."I'm good, and yeah its been a couple months. I'm in town for some family stuff for a couple days. How about you?" Dylan said."Thats nice and, Ehh... Same old same old. Also that will be $2." She smiled. Dylan handed her 2 dollars and she rang us out. "Well are you gonna introduce me?" She asked."Oh right. Calleigh this is Sophia my girlfriend. Soph this is Calleigh she's one of my closer friends." He smiled. I waved, so did she."Nice to meet you." She smiled."You too." I said. Dylan said bye and we left. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~As we were walking i started to get cold. Out of now where Dylan placed his jacket over my shoulders. I smiled at him."Thanks." I slipped my hands one by one through the sleeves. It was kinda windy so my hair fell in my face. The sleeves of his jacket were kinda long on me so when i went to brush the hair out of my face i wiped my face with the sleeve. It smelled like Dylan, his cologne. He placed his right arm on my lower back as we walked. There was a girl in the distance running. Her brownish, black hair up in a messy bun. When Dylan saw her his eyes looked like they were gonna fall out of his head. The girl was running towards us and Dylan started freaking out. He pulled me behind this big rock to hide. "Dylan who is th-" He put his hand over my mouth and shushed me. Once the girl passed he moved his hand away and sighed."I can't believe she still runs this path this early." He said under his breath."Who was that?" I asked, Dylan just looked at me and i could tell he didn't want to tell me."Mackenzie... My ex." He said looking down. I lifted his head by his chin and looked at him. I was thinking of what to say when we heard a scream. It was a girl but we didn't know who. Then we heard crying, we stood up and looked past the rock and Mackenzie was laying on the ground in the middle of the pathway. "Come on lets get out of here." Dylan said pulling on my arm."No. Dylan i think she's hurt." I said."Yeah and i don't want to be around when someone shows up lets go." He said. Mackenzie whined in pain again."Dylan. No help her." I said pulling my arm back."She's my ex don't you get what she did to me?" He asked in a aggravated tone. "I get that Dyl but...." I couldn't think of what to say but he should help her. "You should help her. If she's really hurt who knows how long she will be laying they until someone else comes." I said looking him in the eyes. I mean not like i want him interacting with his ex but its not like I'm asking him to like kiss her or something!"Soph i didn't even want her to know i was in town." He said. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I stood up and started to walk towards her. It doesn't matter who she is, if someone is hurt you help them. I knew Dylan would follow after me if i did that. "Soph come back here." He said running after me. I walked over to Mackenzie who was now sitting instead of laying down but still in the same spot. She was holding her ankle and crying. "Excuse me, are you okay?" I asked, she jumped a little i guess i startled her."Uh... No not really..." She said."What happened?" I asked. Dylan was quietly standing behind her. She still didn't know he was here. "I was running and i guess i stepped on a rock or something and my ankle twisted and something popped and i fell to the ground. Now its all swollen and i can't stand on it." She said."Well do you have anyone to call to come get you?" I asked."No my parents are away for a business trip this week." She said. I'm going to regret my next question."How about a friend? Boyfriend?" I asked. Dylan turned around and looked at me like i was insane."No one is up and no... No boyfriend." "Okay well lets try and get you up and to the hospital to get checked out." I smiled. Dylan waving his hand in front of his neck mouthing. 'No no no' but i ignored him."Thanks, by the way I'm Mackenzie. Who are you?" She asked."Im Sophia but you can call me Soph." "Do you go to my school? I've never seen you before." She asked."No i don't actually I'm not from here. But that doesn't matter right now lets just get you up." I smiled. I looked up at Dylan. "Please help." I asked him. Mackenzie turned around to see who i was talking to. "Dylan?!?" She asked. "Hi..." He said while rubbing his neck with his hand."I didn't know you were in town...." She said."Yeah well i am... So lets just get you get checked out okay? We have to be home by breakfast." Dylan said looking at me."So wait, how do you two know each other?" She asked. Dylan's POV ~This seriously wasn't happening right? I can't believe Soph went up to her! I'm not mad at her but like is she crazy?!?! She doesn't know Mackenzie and how she can be. I don't even know how she will act and i dated her for crying out loud! Now she wants to know how we know each other. She knows Soph isn't from here soo this will be interesting. Mackenzie looked at me waiting for and answer and so did Soph."Umm... She's a cousin who i met when we moved out to Cali." I said lying so that Mackenzie wouldn't freak. Soph looked mad and hurt by my answer. I saw her eyes start to fill with tears. Now i felt awful..."I thought you didn't have any family out there." Mackenzie said."Thats because he d-" Soph started to talk and i knew she was gonna tell her the truth and i had to stop her."Thats because i didn't know i had family out there." I said. Soph looked pissed now. "Can we please just get you help now?" I said/asked. Mackenzie nodded and looked at Sophia who was practically crying."Are you okay Sophia?" She asked her. Soph wiped away her tears."Yeah i'm fine, come on we'll help you get up. One of us on each side of you." Sophia said. I was on her right side which was the foot she hurt and Soph on the left. We hobbled her out of the pathway. I looked at my phone and it was almost 5. We had walked so there was no car to put her in. We sat her down on the bench at the end of the path."Okay... We walked so we can have you hobble back to my Aunts to get a car or to your place." I said."Since my parents aren't home can we go to your aunts and get me to the hospital? Then you can just leave me there and i'll have Jack or Sam pick me up and bring me home." Mack said. Sophia's POV ~When Mackenzie said the name Jack, Dylan rolled his eyes and looked at me. I was pissed, upset, confused, and frustrated with Dylan. "Yeah come on Mack." He said and looked at me. She wrapped her arms around our necks and we hobbled the 3 block walk back to his Aunts. Its was quiet for the most part. It was awkward for everyone now. Every once in a while we would take a break. We got to his Aunts and he went inside to get Julia's keys and tell someone what happened so they knew where we were. I sat on the porch with Mackenzie, which was awkward for me in my situation but she didn't know it. Dylan's POV ~I grabbed Jul's keys and went in the kitchen. My mom was sitting at the table and my Aunt starting breakfast. I just needed a second to calm down. I grabbed an orange and tried to peel it but was to frustrated and was shaking, i couldn't peel it. I slammed it on the table and grunted. "You okay Dyl?" My aunt asked."No. Soph and i were going for a walk on the path this morning and we fucking ran into Mack.... She got hurt and Soph insisted on helping her. So she walked over to her and then Mackenzie was like how do you know each other since she Soph said she wasn't from here. I lied because you know how Mackenzie can be. I said that Sophia was a cousin i met when we moved out to Cali. That we had family out there i didn't know about and when we came for the family visit Soph came too. So now my ex thinks my girlfriend is my cousin and my girlfriend most likely fucking hates me and now i need to take her to the hospital because her parents are out of town and she cant walk on her foot and we had to hobble her the whole way back here." I yelled frustrated. "Well you shouldn't have lied but where are the girls now?" My mom asked."Outside on the porch waiting for me." I said."Well go. But did Soph know Mackenzie was your ex?" My mom asked."Yes but she said it would be wrong to leave her laying there hurt when who knows when the next person would get there to help her. She cares some much about other people it doesn't matter who they are. Its one of the things i love some much about her, is how caring she is. Now i lied about her and she probably hates me. I brought her out here to get her away from drama and now im causing it. Im such a dick. Well i don't want to leave them out there alone anymore we'll see you when we get back." I said running out the door. "What took so long?" Soph asked."Sorry had to find Julia's keys. My car isn't here remember." I said.We got Mackenzie in the car. Soph didn't say anything else to me. The ride was just as silent as the walk to my Aunts. When we got to the hospital i went in and got a nurse to get a wheelchair. They came out and got Mackenzie. We waited for her to be admitted before we left. After they got all her info she thanked us for helping. "Thanks Soph it was nice meeting you. Thanks Dylan..." She said. They took her in the back and Sophia pulled my to the side."ITS A GOOD THING WE'RE IN A HOSPITAL BECAUSE IM GOING TO KILL YOU!" Soph whisper yelled, then slapped me and started to cry."Soph please let me explain. I had to lie or she would have went crazy. You don't know how she can be!" I said. "Dylan! You shouldn't have lied to her! Why didn't you just tell her. That was part of the problem between you two. She lied to you right? About Jack im guessing was who she cheated on you with. I saw your face when she said his name. Lying didn't help your relationship Dyl! I would rather have her hate me or 'go after me' for being with you then have her think I'm your cousin! Your such an ass." Soph said trying to push past me. I grabbed her shoulder and spun her around to me and held her shoulders. "Let me go." She said. I didn't listen. "Leave me alone and let me go Dylan." She said."Please can we talk about this Soph?" I begged. I could see the hurt in her eyes, I let go of her. She stormed out of the hospital. When she got out side she had started running. I jumped in the car and drove after her. When i caught up to her i rolled my window down and kept at her speed. She stopped running but was walking fast still. "Soph please stop an get in the car so we can talk!" I said."No Dylan. I trusted you! I put my guard down for you! All you did was trick me and then turn around and stab me in the back! I don't care about her don't you get that! I don't care about what she would have thought! You shouldn't have lied! You hurt me Dylan! Watching your boyfriend tell their EX THAT THEIR CURRENT GIRLFRIEND IS THEIR COUSIN IS A JACKASS THING TO DO! You hurt me Dylan! You thought you were helping but you weren't! I gave you a second chance to tell her an you interrupted me and lied more! There are you happy we talked now leave me alone!" She had stopped walking while she was talking an when she finished started to walk again. I got out of the car and ran after her."Sophia please! I'm sorry! What i did was wrong and i can't change that now. If i knew how you felt i wouldn't have done that! I just thought having her not know was for the better of you and our relationship! Can we please just continue this conversation!" I begged. She pushed me aside and started walking."I'm going home Dylan. I getting my stuff and going home. Met me at your aunts and be ready to take me to the airport." She said."Soph." She turned around."I'm going home, nothing you can say or do will stop me from leaving Dylan. I was wrong about what i said last night to your Aunt. I thought you were but i guess your really not the best thing thats happened to me in a long time." She said while wiping tears from her eyes. "And here." She said while taking off my jacket and throwing it at me. Then turned around and kept walking. __________________________Who wasn't expecting that? Do you think they will break up?
