Chapter 10: Doubt

* Melissa and Jay were happily getting ready for work it was going to be Melissa's first day back.

Jay told everyone that he was not successful in bringing Melissa back with him. So they were going to surprise everyone.

She and he drove in their cars to work Melissa parked in her spot and then Jay parked in his spot. Mouse was arriving shortly after them because he took Gretchen to work.

Melissa walked hand in hand with Jay into the District and Trudy saw who Jay was walking with Trudy ran over to Melissa hugging her and Melissa and Jay were telling Trudy shhh.

Trudy was actually going to help Jay and Melissa tell the group upstairs that Melissa was not coming back home. They scanned in Melissa still worked she smiled and then walked behind Jay and Trudy.

Everyone had arrived minus Mouse who was running a bit late. Everyone looked at Jay and Trudy Hank came out of the office waiting to hear the news if Jay brought Melissa back with him.*

Hank: was the trip sucessful?

Trudy: Melissa was not able to come back with Jay.

Kevin: Damn it!

Jay: I tried but Erin needed her to stay to finish the case. She missed us so much!

Kim: I was hopeful it would work!

Jay: Kim you still can be a partner but you're gonna have to be Mouse's partner!

Kim; Cool! I am excited so we have a substitute partner?

Adam: Who is it?

* Melissa smiles hiding behind Trudy and Jay. Once everyone knew she was back they ran up to her and hugged her*

Jay: I mean she is here with me!

Trudy: She is behind us!

Kevin: What the hell for is she shy?

Jay: * shakes his head gently* Wanna come out new partner?

Melissa; * comes out from hiding in between Trudy and Jay* Guess who's back?

Adam and Kevin: * runs to Melissa hugging her.* Back again!!!!!

Hank: You brought her back!!!! * comes over to hug Melissa*

Kim; * Runs to hug Melissa *YOU BROUGHT HER BACK!

Antonio: Hey chica! Welcome back! * runs to hug Melissa*

Jay: * laughs* Yup in the way she wanted me to bring her back!

Kim: * cries* awww * punches Adam* You need to step it up mister

Adam: * feels Kim punch him and looks at Kim.* Okay babe I promise!

Melissa; Oh my god I missed you all!

* Mouse came running up the stairs and saw Melissa when he reached the top of the stairs.

Gretchen didn't tell him that Melissa had come back with Jay so when he saw her he ran up behind her and picked her up in his arms and spun her! *

Mouse: MELLY BEAN! WELCOME BACK!

Melissa; * Screams and laughs when Mouse grabs her.* HEY MOUSE I MISSED YOU TOO!

Mouse; * puts Melissa down and then hugs her tight* Welcome back!

Melissa; * smiles and hugs Mouse* Thanks Mouse, No one told you I was back?

Mouse: No Gretchen said Jay was going to try to bring you back!

Jay: I brought my girl back!

Hank: I need You and Melissa to make no plans for tonight, please!

Melissa; Why?

Hank; You two are night owls.

Jay & Melissa: * laughs*

Hank: I need two people to do a late-night stakeout!

Melissa; * looks at Jay* Sure thing!

Jay: Melissa check your coffee mug.

* Melissa smiles and dashes to the coffee room without even giveing it a second thought. Jay bought her a replacement mug.

She found her mug and then found a note in it and smiled as she pulled it out and found a note from Jay:

Jay: * looks around * I am sorry your first night back we have to do a stakeout!

Melissa; * smiles* That's okay we can make the most of it!

Jay: Babe, we can't!

Melissa; * whispers* we have done it a few times before babe!

Jay: That was risky in and of itself!

Melissa; * looks at Jay* What happened to my sexy boyfriend who had no fear of having sex with me anywhere?

Jay;.* Looks around and back at Melissa smirking* Damn it you make it really HARD to say no.

Melissa; * smiles* It's going to be cold tonight so we can keep each other warm!

Jay: * groans and gently pulls Melissa in a kiss* FUCK!

Melissa; * Giggles and kisses Jay back* SHHH, Not now! * places a kiss and nibbles on Jay's neck.

Jay:* Inhales and exhales and Whispers his response* FUCK BABE!

Melissa; * giggles* Later!

Jay: You better wear a sexy outfit!

Melissa; it will be sexy alright!

Jay: One of the ones from New York?

Melissa; Maybe!

Jay: the one you had on in our "honeymoon suite" was sexy as hell!

Melissa; This one I have in mind is sexier!

Jay: CHRIST BABE!

Melissa; * giggles* Mmm calm down!

Jay: How can I?

Melissa; It's only been seven days.

Jay: The moment we had in our suite and last night was not enough it has been SEVEN days with out YOU!

Melissa; * hugs Jay and rubs his back soothingly to calm him down.* Save all your energy babe!

Jay: * groans* Just stop otherwise you're gonna kill me!

Melissa; What a way to go huh? * giggles*

Jay: * looks at Melissa suggestively* You are getting off on this aren't you?

Melissa; * hums a little before she responds and walks out of the coffee room.* Yes!

Jay: * bites his lip and groans* you're so fucking sexy.

Melissa: * looks at Jay and smiles* You're sexy!

* Melissa and Jay seeing as they had a stake out to do later that night needed to focus on research.

Melissa got right to that she actually called Erin asking if she was still allowed to use some of her codes for research and whatnot and Erin told her those were codes she earned so she could use them.

Melissa right away went into her desktop computer and entered in the Codes she had from the FBI and then she found her research faster than she used to.

She then printed off some of the research she found and then walked over to the whiteboard.

Then as she was writing on the board she talked to everyone. She was dressed kinda like she was going to a fancy meeting. *

Melissa; You know we could use a digital board it would be awesome!

Kevin: She works for the FBI for a hot minute and then she wants all the fancy shit!

Antonio: No she is on to something!

Jay: She is all fancy now!

Hank: Mouse is it in the budget?

Melissa & Mouse: It actually is in the budget!

Jay: Look she works for the FBI and she uses all her fancy ass codes to show us up! * jokes*

Melissa; Listen here Detective Goober Head!

Everyone; * laughs* BURN!

Jay: what is with my partner coming back from New York and then looking all dressed up?

Melissa; * laughs* there is no rule that I can't look pretty!

Kevin: * smiles* Boo Boo Bear! You are beautiful!

Jay: * looks at Melissa's nails and notices they're done* she got her nails done.

Melissa: oh yeah Erin and I got our nails done when I was out there the day I went shopping.

Kevin: did she get acrylics?

Jay: * looks at Melissa's nails again* yes indeed.

Kevin: she is fancy fancy.

Antonio: Guys, remember when Melly first came up here?

Adam: Yeah she was dressed up!

Melissa: I'm wearing make up too!

Kevin: she was all fancy then too.

Kim: You all forget Melissa is a fashionista around here.

Jay: yeah but she isn't high-maintenance.

Melissa; * rolls her eyes looking at everyon* NO! HELL NO!

Melissa; Yes Two former Rangers they knew you and Mouse the minute I mentioned your names!

Melissa; Christopher Andrews and Michael Jones

Jay: * smiles* HOLY SHIT!

Mouse; OH MY GOD YOU GOT TO WORK WITH THEM?

Melissa; * eyes go wide and steps back at Mouse and Jay's reaction.* I take it they know who the hell they are!

Adam: * laughs* Yeah judging by their reactions!

Jay: No they were like Mouse and My's best buddies!

Antonio; you better thank them for being nice to our girl!

Mouse: I am going to be honest they most likely thought Melissa was pretty!

Jay: * rolls their eyes* Yeah I mean they will protect a pretty lady!

Mouse; They are huge flirts!

Melissa; as soon as I said my partner and boyfriend back home Jay Halstead is the only guy for me they backed the hell off!

Melissa; I did I said his Best friend Mouse has me spoken for along with my best friend Gretchen!

Melissa; * goes overboard with the dramatization for comedic effect* They told me to ZIP IT!

Everyone: GASPS! * laughs at Melissa's dramatization*

Kim: Those assholes... Was Xander nice to you?

Melissa; * rolls her eyes* he was nice to me but I think him and Erin are hooking up.

Mouse: That surprises you?

Melissa: No and of course true to Erin's form she is keeping it hush-hush.

Jay: in other words, she hasn't changed.

Melissa: yeah and when I called her ass out on it she got mad at me

Hank: See that's how she caused a huge problem over here.

Melissa: I told her that.

Jay: She probably told you we should keep our personal lives personal.

Melissa: yup exactly what she said.

Kim: What happened?

Melissa: anyway, the biggest jerk was Brett.

Adam: tell us what they did and we will beat them up.

Melissa; When I was talking to Jay and Mouse's buddies about Jay and said my partner and boyfriend he said that wont last.

Kim: HUH?

Melissa; I said before he and I were partners and dating he was and still is my best friend.

Kim: what did he say then?

Melissa; The fucking prick tells me that I shouldn't be friends with anyone or date anyone on my team.

Kim: Did he explain why?

Melissa; The fucking asshole no good tooth faced son of a jackle says that this is why some professions are dominated by men cause they can be impartial.

Kim: Did you hit him with politcal facts?

Melissa; I wanted to but then I thought to myself why entertain a prick like that?

Kim: That is not the Melly I know.

Melissa; Then I thought to myself I wont stand here and gain his assholeitis along with his arrogance any longer. I came here to solve a fucking case and I am gonna do just that and go home.

Hank: By the way did you solve the case?

Melissa; Yeah with Mouse's and Jay's help basically all your help otherwise I would have still had to be there.

Jay: Thank goodness you are done.

Melissa; I told Erin that next time I can help her solve it over the phone.

Hank; I mean look you helped Jay solve a case over the phone with your fancy FBI stuff.

Adam: You don't get to use those tools now do you?

Melissa; Erin told me I earned those tools so I can use them.

Jay: you're lucky.

Antonio: cause if you couldn't and you went ahead and did it the repercussions are brutal.

Kevin; You could loose your badge permmanenlty.

Melissa; No wonder they are such assholes!

Jay: See suddenly being a little loose with the rules seems okay huh?

Melissa; Most definatly not! You all need to act accordingly!

Adam: Damnit Jay!

Kevin: Just ruin it all!

Antonio: No I agree we sometimes play a little too much up here. * Looks at Melissa who threw a balled-up piece of paper at him.* MELLY!

Melissa;* Giggles* It has a message for you!

Melissa: * Giggles* It's a love message Antonio I mean it with nothing but love.

Antonio;* Puts the paper down and starts walking towards Melissa.* Seriously you leave and go to New York and work with all these suits didn't you learn anything?

Melissa; * Stays right where she is.* I got my weapons upgraded.

Antoino: * is standing right in front of Melissa and hugs her.* I am so proud you learn to let loose!

Melissa;* eyes go wide when Antonio hugs her.* OKAY that is enough of a show of human emotional shit right now!

Antonio: * laughs* Shut the fuck up and hug me, Chica!

Melissa;* Laughs and hugs Antonio back.* I mean it now hug is over!

Antonio: Guys I need back up this is a 10-13 situation.

Melissa; NO IT IS NOT DON'T LISTEN TO HIM!

* Everyone walks over and crowds Melissa and they all give a big group hug and she is screaming and laughing.

She missed everyone more than she wanted to admit. She was trying to play it off like it was no big deal.

she would be lying to herself if she didn't feel like this was where she belonged more so than a stuffy federal building.

She would rather work with the task force but that is death to her. Nothing can beat Intelligence for her.

She will never ever have anything more or better than what she has right now! She loves her team and she loves District 21.

She wouldn't be happier anywhere else. Yes, the guys in Intelligence sometimes drove her nuts but she wouldn't trade that closeness and family for anything in the world.

Not even for the largest bag of reeces pieces her favorite candy in the whole wide world.

Once everyone broke from the hug Jay pulled her into a hug of their own and she smiled hugging Jay. Hank to be funny threw some water at both of them*

Hank: ALRIGHT THAT IS ENOUGH HUGGING YOU TWO!

Melissa;* Screams and looks at Hank who threw the water at her and Jay. She went to her desk and grabbed her water bottle and then threw water at Hank.* THAT IS NOT NICE! HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?

Jay:* Laughs He knew just like they all knew Melissa hated getting water thrown at her and he knew just like they all knew that scream meant some water landed in her hair.* Melissa it's okay -

Melissa:* Gets annoied* Not it is not but it will have to be okay! * Grabs her hair and notices it's not too wet but is still annoyed.* HANK!

Hank: * Looks at Melissa* You got some balls calling me Hank I am your boss.

Melissa;* Threw the rest of her water at Hank.* You have balls having water land in my hair!

Adam: Oh fuck!

Antonio: I think today is a good day we all work from home!

Kim: Melissa it's gonna be okay let's go to the locker room and we can dry it off.

Trudy: I never had the joy of having children but Honestly You would be my daughter if your mom and dad didn't have a claim on you!

Trudy: Alright you all have work to do and Melissa.

Melissa; Yes Sarge?

Trudy: You have someone asking for you?

Melissa; Me? Who?

Trudy: Amber Wallace.

Melissa; * Eyes go wide* guys I have to go right now I will be back okay?

* Melissa didn't even wait for a response she ran downstairs and almost fell down the stairs she saw Amber and then she smiled and hugged her in greeting and then looked around.

She knew how much trouble Amber could get into she didn't want her best CI to get made right after leaving the precinct.*

Melissa;* smiles at Amber.* Hey what is up?

Amber: I need your help please?

Melissa; What is wrong?

Amber: * looks around * is there somewhere we can talk?

Melissa; Come on upstairs you'll be safe up there.

Melissa; You have all the crew I work with in Intelligence you're safe!

* Melissa places her arm around Amber and then brings her upstairs with her to the bullpen. She smiled at everyone as she introduced Amber to everyone.*

Melissa; Hey guys this is Amber.

Antonio: Hey Amber welcome.

Mouse; Welcome Amber!

Jay: Nice to meet you Amber!

Trudy: You're safe with this crew Amber trust me.

Hank: I am Hank Voight I run this unit.

Amber: * Smiles at everyone.* HI!

Kevin: How do you know our girl Melissa?

Adam: You want some coffee or anything?

Amber: I am - * looks at Melissa.*

Melissa; She is my CI and my buddy! I am trying to help her!

Melissa:* Smiles and looks at Jay and Antonio and Hank and Trudy* Can I talk to you all?

Antonio; Come to Voight's office when you get our guest of honor settled.

Adam: Come on lets get you some coffee are you hungry?

* Melissa and Jay and Trudy and Antonio and Hank walk into Voight's office and then she is faced with everyone looking at her. She clears her throat and begins to explain.*

Melissa; I have no clue as to why Amber made it all the way over here but what I can tell you all she is in trouble.

Hank: How do you know this girl?

Melissa; She has been my CI long before I got up here.

Jay: Really?

Melissa: When I was fresh out of the academy when I worked my first beat with Kim.

Antonio: Your first CI.

Melissa: Sargent Platt told me it's a good Idea to have CIs they come in handy I lost my other three. She is solid!

Antonio: Well find out what you need to know from her and we can help her.

Melissa; The thing is she is scared mostly for her mom and sister.

Jay: It's gonna be okay I think find out why she is here.

Melissa; I am telling you all it is bad whatever it is it's bad.

Hank: How bad are we talking here?

Melissa; Derek Keys bad sarge.

* Jay takes a breath and looks at Melissa and everyone feels like their hearts could stop any moment and Jay breaks the silence.*

Jay: You mean to tell me that?

Melissa; Amber knows someone in Derek Key's crew that took over it's how I knew where you were when they kidnapped you!

Hank: No wonder you wanted to go.

Antonio: We need to protect her.

Melissa; I know but not just her her mom and sister!

Hank: Be honest is she another reason why you didn't want to go to New York.

Melissa; Sarge as along as I am around she is safe once I am not around anymore she is not safe!

Hank: So People know that you protect her.

Melissa: since it is Derek Keyes's crew still I have been telling her to say she is protected should they ask her anything.

Antonio: His crew is still trying to figure out how we were able to get to Jay so fast.

Trudy: Melissa, You have to protect her.

Melissa; I know! I just need help cause I am not coming up with good ideas.

Jay: we don't want a repeat of Derek Keyes.

Melissa; No we don't, I just don't want to lose her she is not only a CI but she is a friend.

Hank: CI's are important is she in the system?

Melissa;* tugs on the bullet that didn't kill Al she had it on a necklace attached to the chain with her father's dog tags.*

Jay: * sees Melissa and tries to calm her down.* Hey relax go and talk to Amber and We will help you take care of the rest.

Hank: I am glad you talked to me now that I am in the loop I can get better prepared.

Trudy: You did the right thing, sweetheart!

Melissa; * Her phone is ringing and she looks to see it's her dad.* Now my dad is calling me.

Melissa; Yes very! I will talk to my dad and then talk to Amber.

Jay: In the meantime Adam and Kevin are keeping her relaxed.

* Smiles and leaves the office and answers the phone call from her dad.*

Melissa; Everything okay?

Angel: Yes Mia all is fine.

* the man saw the roof staircase and went. The way when the door shut Jay waited a few moments and tried to go after them. By the time he reached the top. of the stairs, the door was locked.

Jay dispatched a sign for backup and for the CFP to come and help. He was worried but was using that energy to help with the situation. Mouse was trying to make sure everyone. Stayed away from that area.

The man Melissa is facing in front of her on the Roof of Chicago Med didn't scare her just concerned her. Mouse and Jay tried to help but didn't want to anger the man further.*

Melissa: sir, listen to me.

*her voice even and calm, even as her eyes flicked to the gun in his hand he had managed to take her gun from her she had no time to react properly.

She tried to tell Jay and Mouse to find out and make sure others were safe.

Melissa watched as the gentleman stood on the ledge, waving her gun around and ranting.

Melissa was at Chicago Med answering a call with Mouse and Jay and had just found Will when he got in the line of fire and to stop Will from getting hurt she offered herself up instead of Will.

She didn't know what the issue was anyway but She was going to protect Will.

There was a look in his eyes that told her it was useless, even before he'd reached for her gun.

He'd shouted about how he was in charge now and he glanced at Will who was with his current patient to reassure her that everything was going to be alright.

In order to protect Will and everyone in Med right now, she agreed to follow him out and he'd lead her straight up to the roof, where the both of them would be 'uninterrupted'.

That's how she found herself on the roof with him, facing him as the gun trembled a little in his hand.*

Melissa: let's start over and be really calm about this. Whatever it is, we can work this out, alright?

Robert: Why are you wanting to help me?

Melissa: * keeps eye contact and reaches down and shows her badge* I'm Detective Melissa Gonzalez. I work for Intelligence for the CPD. I want to help.

Robert: You can't help me!

Melissa: * speaks calmly and even toned.* It's going to be okay, what is your name?

Robert: Robert Scott. I'm a contractor.

Melissa: * nods * very nice. what's wrong?

Robert: my wife died and Dr William Halstead was the doctor.

Melissa: Whatever issue you have with Dr Halstead it's no longer with him you deal with me going forward.

Robert: why?

Melissa: Dr. Halstead is my partner's brother I am going to protect him. I still want to help you.

Robert: Why protect a bad doctor?

Melissa: what happened to make you think this?

Robert: He was caring for my wife, she died.

Melissa: I'm sure doctor Halstead did everything in his power to help you.

Robert: She had a ray of hope of survival and he took it away from me.

Melissa: Im so sorry Robert

*Melissa said, acutely aware of the sound of sirens that filled the streets down below.

Robert glanced behind him for just a second, checking out what was happening down in the street, his gun still pointed at her.

She exhaled, still with her hands up.*

Melissa: Robert, look at me.

*He turned his head back to lock his eyes with hers.*

Robert: Why are these people here?

Melissa: Ignore that look and focus on me okay? No one wants you to get hurt, alright?

Robert: yes they do want me to get hurt.

Melissa: Will you put down the gun and come down? We can talk, alright? Just tell me what's going on.

*She knew he was off and if he took medication and probably stopped taking his medication, which combined with the death of his wife had led to... this.

Just as he lowered her gun slowly, a sound behind her alerted both of them to the fact that they were no longer alone.

She knew it was procedure, that they'd come up immediately to try to talk him down and to make sure he wasn't hurt, but she was hoping for just a little more time.

Kelly Severide froze as he joined her on the roof, his eyes flicking to the gun in Robert's hand immediately.

He joined her in holding his hands up and Richard looked from Kelly to Melissa, a strange look passing over his face before he raised the gun up again, pointing it straight at her.*

Robert: You said no one was going to hurt me!

Melissa: This is my friend Kelly Severide.

Kelly: I'm from Firehouse 51sir. I'm just here to help like Melissa is trying to help you.

Robert: if you two are lying to me I swear you'll eat lead!

Melissa: Robert, I have been nothing but honest with you from the get go.

Kelly: Melissa and I are friends she and I would never lie to you sir.

Robert: I don't want to shoot but I will if I have to!

Melissa: It's not gonna come to that.

*Jay and Mouse had been trying to keep the situation as calm as possible. Jay got on the phone with Antonio and explained what was happening. *

Antonio: What's up Jay?

Jay: we responded but the situation is only getting worse.

Antonio: yeah it sounds like total chaos.

Jay: Antonio. It's Melissa . She's on the roof with him. It's Will's patient she and Kelly are up there.

Antonio: What?

*Before Jay could answer, the faint sound of a gunshot sent his heart falling to his feet. *

Mouse: this is not good.

Jay: Antonio, get your ass over here now!

*Antonio and the team pulled up a little ways away from the scene, the trucks and ambulance surrounding the building not helping to alleviate the crippling fear that gripped them as they ran closer.

It felt a little weird being here, Mouse was trying to find Gretchen and Jay was trying to find away to get to Melissa. It was not easy.

Also trying to keep everyone in Med calm. The team saw Mouse put someone in a police car and then heard Kelly's voice. *

Kelly: guys! Come on, over here.

*With no trace of hesitation, they followed Kelly, their hands on their guns.*

Kelly: We're clear.

Kelly: That guy you saw with Mouse. It's just...

*The team didn't like the pause but Kelly was saved from further explaining as they reached the roof and their eyes fell on Melissa. She was on the ground, bloodied gauze lying by Gabby's side as she worked on Melissa.*

Hank: Melissa!

*she turned her head up to look at them, wincing as Sylvie and Gabby worked as quickly as they could to bandage up the wound in her leg as best as they could.*

Melissa: I'm fine.

*Melissa told them, the moment she spotted the look on their faces.she wondered if that's the same face she made when she saw Jay or any of them in a bad spot or shot.

As if they didn't believe her, they turned to look at Gabby.Gabby nodded back at them. *

Gabby: It looks like it went clean-through. We'll admit her to Med now, Come on.

*Jay followed closely as they hoisted Melissa down the stairs and straight into Med.

The team nodded at Jay to let him know they'd take care of everything else and Jay followed after her, nodding his head in thanks at Kelly, who went with.

Even though Ethan and Will repeatedly reassured Jay that she was going to be fine, it wasn't until he saw her again that Jay finally felt he could breathe properly.

Melissa had been put in a cast but, as Ethan had told her, she'd been extremely lucky.

Jay headed straight for Melissa, pulling her gently into his arms as he stood by her bedside like he needed to touch her to know she was here, and she was okay.

She didn't protest, merely took a deep breath, closing her eyes against his touch, her hands going up to hold onto his arm before Jay gently released her from his embrace.*

Melissa: Jay, I'm okay.

Jay: you sure?

Melissa: * nods as she responds* He was going to shoot Kelly and I kept slowly inching forward.

Jay:* eyes went wide as he listened*

Melissa: when I was going to tackle him he shot me way before I could do anything.

*Jay gave her a look, a look that she and he were no strangers to, and she cracked a smile.*

Jay: Thank god you're alright.

*Jay whispered, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. *

Jay: Mouse is okay and so am I.

*She reached up for his hand, squeezing it reassuringly.*

Melissa: I am alright, Jay. I am.

*Jay glanced down at Melissa's leg and cocked an eyebrow. She glanced down at her leg. *

Melissa: Well, mostly. Apparently, I was very lucky.

Jay: Lucky is extremely subjective.Jay answered, *glancing at her. * I have never felt this statement was more accurate than I have felt today.

Melissa: I wonder if this is how I am when you get shot or something happens to you?

Jay: Trust me I am channeling you fully right now.

Melissa: Do you need to go back in?

Jay: I'm not going anywhere. I'm just going to stay right here.

Melissa: Will you at least tell them he didn't mean to hurt me? He's... He needs help, Jay.

Jay: Will told you about him huh?

Melissa: * nods* you know I can't say more.

*Jay exhaled, agreeing to make the call to Voight. *

Jay:I'll be right back.

*Melissa grabbed his hand, just as he got up to make the call. *

Melissa: I'm okay I promise.

Jay: I love you, babe.

*Jay, leaned down to press a kiss to Melissaa's temple, as she smiled. She wrapped her arms around Jay and looked at him.*

Melissa: You and I just can't stay out of the line of fire.

Jay: I worry about you!

Jay: I'm glad it's nothing too serious.

Melissa: Do we know how Gretchen is?

Jay: she took cover.

* Gretchen giggles as she peeks her head in the room hearing Melissa. *

Melissa: I'm glad. I was worried.

Gretchen: yeah I know Will and Ethan said you wouldn't shut up about finding me.

Gretchen: I'm okay! I hid when all the craziness was happening.

Melissa: Now I'm gonna be on desk duty how fun!

Gretchen: you and Jay can't seem to get yourselves out of the line of fire.

Mouse: Melly Bean! You give yourself up to protect me and Jay!

Melissa: yeah I would do it again!

Kevin: * peeks in the room looking at Melissa* is this where the girl who wants to be a badass is?

Melissa: * smiles and opens her arms for Kevin* hey boo boo bear!

Kevin: you need to stop jumping in the line of fire! * walks over and hugs Melissa*

Adam: * walks over and hugs Melissa*cause us boys want to have some wounds!

Melissa: * laughs* I'm scared to death when I jump in to protect you all.

Melissa: * looks at everyone* I feel like this was a distraction call.

Hank: I was hoping I had more time to tell You we caught our case.

Antonio: Jackson who took over for Keyes's crew has taken Amber and her mom and sister.

Melissa: * looks at everyone* are you serious?

Hank: its true.

Mouse: we're trying to figure out how he got out.

Jay: this makes me nervous.

Melissa: I guess when I'm free to go we all head out to the district and work on this.

Antonio: you need to rest!

Melissa: I will rest when we get Amber and her family back.

Hank: * chuckles* honestly she won't stop bugging us you all know that.

Melissa: I promise I'll do desk duty.

Kevin: okay it's settled. We start the search for Amber and her family.

Adam: using the chicago puzzle map!

Jay: who knows we may end up finding them faster.

Melissa: I'm gonna ask Erin for help!

* Melissa shoots Erin a text and tells her that she and Xander can head out to Chicago right away.

The rest of the team from the FBI can make it all except Bret who is busy doing something. Which was fine by Melissa she didn't like Bret anyway.

Erin and Xander were the first ones to be on a flight out to Chicago to help intelligence with the case of Amber and her family.

The next ones on a flight to chicago were Christopher Andrews and Michael Jones. They were happy to help. Melissa was in a cast yes but it wasn't as bad as she thought it was gonna be.

She was in a walking cast still needed to be resting her leg. She was at her desk reading off the important facts for the case.

Adam was kinda getting annoyed with Melissa and Melissa was getting annoyed in general.

So much so that she got up from her seat walked over and just took the marker and wrote the facts on the board.*

Melissa: I have been telling you this for the past hour and a fucking half!

Adam: Oh you were talking?

Melissa: yes are you fucking deaf?

Adam: to me it sounded like you were barking out orders!

Melissa: you're being a major prick today!

Adam: you're being a major bitch today!

* Jay Hank and Antonio were in the coffee room and heard yelling they came out to the bullpen.

They saw Kim was holding Melissa back and Kevin was holding Adam back. They broke up the fight! *

Antonio: what the hell is going on here?

Jay: * looks at Melissa* you should be sitting at your desk!

Melissa: well mister deaf prick Adam won't listen to what needs to go on the board!

Adam; she is fucking barking out orders!

* mouse was coming up with the guys to install the electronic screens to replace the whiteboard.

Mouse then led them to where they were gonna be. Hank wanted everyone to sit at their desks. While the guys installed the screens.*

Hank: why are we fighting?

Adam: cause the stress of the case.

Melissa: honestly that's all it is.

Hank: don't take it out on each other!

Antonio: we need to stick together.

Hank: we have the FBI coming to help us.

Antonio: Melissa talked us up like we're the ones who are better than them.

Jay: let's show them that we are!

Hank: I want my team in tip top shape please!

Kim: it's not gonna help us solve the case.

Mouse: guys check it out! We got the new screens.

Melissa: * smiles and looks at Adam* I'm sorry Adam!

Antonio: next time you two go at each others throat I'm tossing you both in the cage.

Jay: let's use this energy to find Amber.

Mouse: we have to remain focused.

Melissa: sorry everyone. I'm worried.

Kevin: we will find her.

Melissa: I am hoping she texts me or something.

Jay: did you try pinging her phone?

Melissa: yes and nothing came up.

Mouse: would she happen to have a smart watch?

* Mouse works on Finding the location for Amber and her family. Meanwhile Trudy comes upstairs to tell Melissa someone is asking for her. She then heads downstairs as best as she can. The kid hands her a small box. She then looks at the kid.*

Melissa: Hi there.

Kid: You Detective Melissa González?

Melissa: Yes That's me, what can I do for you?

Kid: I was paid $200 to deliver this to you and only you!

Melissa: * looks at the kid.* Oh thanks. Who is it from?

Kid: I dunno, oh here I'm supposed to give you this too! * hands Melissa a phone.* have a nice day.

Melissa: Thank you, be safe kiddo!

Kid: This person seemed like bad news! Hope you catch them.

Melissa: I'm gonna do my best.

* the kid leaves and then Melissa heads upstairs and shows the team what she has in her hand.*

Hank: are our new screens up and running?

Mouse: almost.

Melissa: * opens the box and sees a hard drive.* Im gonna be sick.

Jay: * looks at Melissa and can see the SD card.* it's okay.

Adam: I dunno man!

Mouse: we're ready. Let me have the SD card.

* Melissa hands Mouse the SD card with a semi shaky hand. She then looks at the screen and yet walking over to Jay.

Once the video file is loaded Mouse clicks on play and the video loads to a familiar scene to Melissa and Jay.

Amber is on her knees her mother and sister tied to the wall watching helplessly as they harm Amber.

Melissa can hear Ambers muffled screaming. She doesn't want to watch but she has to.

Jay finds it hard to watch himself. He remembers him and Melissa. Melissa watches in horror as they take Amber's arm and hold it out and take a branding iron and press it to Ambers arm.

Melissa can hear the muffled screaming and tears falling from her face watching in horror.

They pull the branding iron away from Amber's skin and smack her across the face hard. Melissa hears the phone in her hand ring and she picks it up. Hiding any sign that she was crying.*

Melissa: Hello?

Jackson: Detective González?

Melissa: yes this is she.

* mouse tells her to keep talking *

Jackson: I need to make a dealwith you!

Melissa: No deals. I don't trust you and I know you don't trust me.

Jackson: fair enough how should we handle this?

Melissa: tell me where Amber and her mother and sister are and we can meet up and discuss it then.

Jackson: I want you and your boy detective Halstead to come alone.

Melissa: You get me only or no deal!

Jackson: this isn't a deal this is a request more like if you don't do this your three girls die!

Melissa: * closes her eyes and looks up at the ceiling* Fine!

Jackson: You and Detective Halstead be by the phone I'll text you instructions.

Melissa: I want proof of life!

Jackson: * holds the phone to Amber rips the tape off her mouth hard.* talk!

Amber: Melissa? * cries*

Melissa: Amber! Everything is going to be fine I promise.

Amber: Melissa! I'm so scared!

Melissa: I know you are just remember I'm coming to get you!

Amber: Promise?

Melissa: I promise you and your mom and sister I'm coming to get them. It will be fine!

Jackson: * walks over to Amber's mom and sister and yells at them to talk.* Talk!

Sara: Melissa?

Melissa: Sara it's gonna be okay just be brave!

Jackson: * takes the phone and talks to Melissa* you and Detective Halstead be by the phone!

Melissa: Yes!

Jackson: if you don't agree your girls get delivered to you in pieces!

Melissa: I understand!

Jackson: I know you wouldn't want that to happen!

* Jackson hangs up before Melissa can respond and Melissa hangs up puts the phone in her pocket and looks at Mouse*

Melissa: cut that off please!

Mouse: * cuts off the video* you okay?

Melissa: No! None of this is okay.

Hank: what did they want?

Melissa: Me and Jay!

Jay: you said no didn't you?

Melissa: * shakes her head no gently* no I didn't.

Jay: * inhales and exhales* really?

Melissa: This is my only CI!

* The team is not resting Erin and Xander arrive in Chicago and Hank goes to pick them up at Ohare.

Melissa is at her desk and now with the new digital board, she can add things to it from the computer.

Makes life less stressful. Melissa is feeling her foot that is casted fall asleep. She goes to get up to get some coffee in the coffee room.

She is preparing her cup and Jay comes in the room Preparing a cup of coffee for him too.

They smile at each other. They talk as they linger in the coffee room.*

Jay: You okay?

Melissa: yes just my foot was falling asleep.

Jay: Which one?

Melissa: The one in the cast!

Jay: Ugh the worst.

Melissa: Right?

Jay: Where are Erin and Xander staying while they are here?

Melissa: My and Gretchen's place.

Jay: Not the sex couch!

Melissa: * laughs* no I have a pull-out bed for them.

Melissa: yeah it's queen-sized.

* they walked out of the coffee room and out to the bullpen and then Melissa smiled when she heard Erin and Xander.

She gimped over to them and Erin opens her arms and hugged Melissa tight. Looks at her bestie concerned.*

Melissa: I got shot no big deal!

Xander: Wow sounds like a soldier response.

Erin: * walks over to Jay and hug a him* Yeah see this guy right here?

Xander: * looks at Jay* yes!

Erin: He has rubbed off on her.

Jay: * laughs and hugs Erin.* Hey Erin!

Xander: * smiles at Jay* Nice to meet you Jay again!

Jay: * smiles at Xander and nods remembering Xander and Mouse and he did a tour together. * Hey Xander thanks for taking care of my girl.

Xander: Of course, Erin told me we must take care of her Melly.

Melissa: * hugs Erin again* did you have a good flight?

Erin: * hugs Melissa* Yes but I'm starving!

Hank: Once we get everyone up to speed we're gonna wrap up.

Melissa; I have Sean Roman to thank for that because he helped me think about this.

Jay: Here comes Jackson the leader of Derek Keyes Crew.

Erin: * looks at Melissa and Jay* Oh no!

Melissa; I spoke to Jackson and I am supposed to be on standby with Jay we both are supposed to meet up with him and Jay and I are supposed to be meeting up with him.

Hank; There was a video that was sent of Jackson and his crew torturing Amber and they had Mary and Sara tied up too and possibly torturned as well.

Erin: Alright so my team and I are going to review all the information and then we can help as best we can.

Jay: Is there any way we can assure that Melissa and I don't get kidnapped?

Erin: I am sure we can come up with something.

Christopher: I know that Xander Michael and I are tech savy who is your tech Savy officer?

Jay: After next month though he will be officially Detectrive.

* They all talked possible plans and possible options and then they all agreed it was time to go home and call it a night. Melissa and Jay left in their cars and Erin road with Jay and Melissa thought it was werid but it gave her a chance to have the best friend talk with Xander.

Melissa and Xander road to her place together and then Jay and Erin talked in the car together. They were listening to Music and then talking about Melissa. Xander and Melissa were listeing to music and talking about Erin.*

* Melissa and Xander talk some more and then finally arrive at her place and Jay and Erin arrive just shortly after them. Melissa gently gets out of her car and Jay right away is at her side.

She laughs and shakes her head. She doesn't argue though because she knows he cares about her and only wants to help her.

* They head into her building then head into the elevator and then walk out when they reach her floor and then head to her door.

She unlocks the door and then smiles when she sees Mouse and Gretchen getting things set up for people to come over and chill.

Gretchen smiles at Melissa and hugs Erin. Melissa couldn't wait for girl time she was happy with her girls together. She had mostly guys as her friends.

She heard knocking on her door and smiled Jay went to answer the door when the door opened it was Kim and Adam and Kevin and Sean and Antonio. Melissa turned to look at the door and she screamed. *

Melissa; we are working an important case we should not be partying!

* Everyone looks at Melissa and she looks at everyone and clears her throat.*

Melissa: I meant we shouldn't party lightly!

Everyone; YES!!!!!

Jay: I was going to say what happen to my girlfriend?

Melissa; I am here!

* The door has a knock again and Jay goes to answer it and it is Christopher and Michael and then he smiles and they greet everyone.

Melissa then heads to the kitchen and Gretchen and Mouse tell her to sit down and Jay grabs her and sits her down at her table.

She laughs and then they all gather around the table and soon enough there is plenty of liquor and enough shot glasses to go around.

Melissa hears a knock on her door and Jay goes to answer and then smiles and opens the door it's Gabby and Severide and his girlfriend Maddie.

She opens her arms wide for the three of them and she is bombarded with hugs by the three of them.*

Melissa; Oh my god this is so crazy!

Jay: Look how many people your place can hold?

Melissa; this is good to know!

* Melissa hears another knock on the door and then Jay goes to answer the door and laughs when he sees Will Ethan and Maggie.

Melissa turns to see who is at the door and then she smiles opens her arms wide and makes a smart-ass comment to Will.*

Melissa; Will can stay as long as you are not here as my doctor! You too Ethan! all yall are off duty understand?

Ethan: I promise!

Will: I promise.

Maggie: I promise.

Melissa; * raises her shot glass* I want to make a toast To us and our crazy ass connections and the feeling of family and love and that we find Amber and her family.

Everyone; * raises their shot glasses and and slams the shots down.*

* Melissa and everyone began talking and just hanging out. Gretchen then put on some music and everyone was laughing Melissa was drunk along with Erin and Kim and the three of them were dancing and laughing at the sametime.

Singing the song that was playing. Melissa wanted to dance but couldn't she made sure she just leaned on the girls and sang Gabby Maddie and Maggie joined in too.

The song was a song by New Kids On The Block called Hangin'Tough and the guys were watching them sing and shaking their heads.

Jay was laughing seeing Melissa so happy was always a nice thing. He knew she was upset about Amber but the fact she could let go and just be with her girls was nice to see. *

* Melissa and the girls sang the whole song. They were laughing the guys were laughing and enjoying the girls having fun.

Melissa then got hugs from the girls.  She was so happy to have the girls with her. She loved the guys but nothing compared to having fun with her girls.

Jay was smiling watching his girl be happy and carefree and at her sexiest in that moment to him. Seeing her smile always made him smile.

Melissa then laughed even harder when the next song played however she knew she needed to sit down her foot was hurting.

Erin and she were leaning on each other. Gretchen was on the other side of Melissa between Erin and Gretchen they were holding Melissa up.

Xander came over and held on to Erin and Mouse came over and held on to Gretchen and Jay walked over to Melissa and lifted her in his arms.

She smiled at him. it got later and later and soon enough people were leaving. Soon it was just Adam Kim and Jay and Melissa and Erin and Xander and Mouse and Gretchen.

They were laughing trying to help Melissa get to bed finally Jay just had to grab her and bid everyone goodnight and then carried her to her room.

He then gently placed her on her bed and then handed her her pajamas after he shut the door.

She looked at him and then giggled. She coulnd't stop giggiling and Jay laughed he knew she was really buzzed.

She was happy and that was all that mattered to him. She then laid back on her bed and then she started to laugh harder.

there was a knock on her bedroom door and then Jay opened the door and then Erin smiled asking if she could use Melissa's bathroom to change in. 

Jay moved aside and let her in and she laughed seeing her bestie laughing her ass off on her bed. She looked at Jay and he shrugged. *

Erin: Hey Melly!

Melissa; * Laughing* Heyyyyyyyyy ERIN!

Erin: * Laughs* Oh My you're really buzzed huh?

Melissa; SHHHHHHH why you gotta whisper to people?

Erin: * she laughs* Huh?

Melissa; Oh come the fuck on you know what the fuck I am saying.

Erin: Someone needs to go to bed.

Melissa;Yeah everyone

Jay: Yes babe everyone.

Melissa: NOT ME!

Melissa; Im gonna be a bad ass and fuck shit up!

* Jay went to the kitchen to grab Melissa a water bottle and Xander was laughing with Jay when Jay explained what he was dealing with with Melissa Xander wished him luck and told him to send Erin Back to him.

Adam and Kim were knocked out on the pull-out bed that Gretchen had. Xander and Erin were going to sleep on the pull-out bed Melissa had.

Jay went back into Melissa's room and Erin was dressed in her PJs and then left Melissa's room and headed out to the living room to sleep next to Xander on the pull-out bed.

Jay then sat on the bed with Melissa and then he looked at her she looked at him. *

Jay: Hey babe!

Melissa: * smiles at Jay* Hi love.

Jay: Need help?

Melissa; I think I shall be okay.

Jay: Let me help you.

Melissa; Okay.

Jay: Wow that easy huh?

Melissa; Yes.

* Jay helped Melissa change into her pjs and then he changed too and then he gently pulled her with him on the bed and held her. he ran his fingers through her hair and talked to her.

He needed to know how she was and what was going through her mind while she was trying to work this current case.

She snuggled into his arms and just closed her eyes not sleeping but enjoying Jay running his fingers through her hair.*

Jay: Can I ask you something?

Melissa; Always Always Always.

Jay: * Smiles* You okay ?

Melissa; No I am really worried about Amber and her family.

Jay: Remember this is NOT your fault.

Melissa; I promised her I would keep her and her family safe.

Jay: You can still keep that promise.

Melissa; She got Kiddnapped and her mom and Sister did as well.

Jay: That is not your fault please understand that.

Melissa; I am trying to but I am so damn worried.

Jay: You need to get some sleep.

Melissa; Ugh!

* Melissa fell asleep as best she could her leg was uncomfortable with the cast and then with Amber and her family kidnapped her mind was running at top speed.

The next day came and it was comical to see the group wake up. Gretchen woke Mouse up screaming she was late. Mouse then looked at the time and noticed they were late.

Melissa and Jay woke up hungover cause they didn't really sleep the liquor off. Adam and Kim and Erin and Xander woke up in a frenzy. They all agreed to ride together in two cars.

Melissa woke herself up and was gonna drive Jay didn't want to drive which caused concern for her.

Everyone piled in Jay's truck she didn't want to drive her car plus Jay's truck had the most room.

They all laugh and stop at Starbucks before dropping Gretchen off and then heading to the district.

They all walked in with Kevin and Roman behind them and Antonio. Trudy shook her head. Christopher and Michael walked in too hungover.

The group was sipping their coffee scanning in and heading upstairs. Hank was waiting in the bullpen for them. He was pissed. Inside he wanted to laugh.

The group looked hysterical to him. They all had sunglasses on and waved as they were drinking their coffee. *

Hank: Good morning or should I say Good Afternoon!

Melissa: Uff, Sarge please don't yell.

Jay: Yes please don't.

Erin: We're sorry we're late.

Kevin: the party was good last night.

Antonio: sarge I'm sorry I was partying with them last night too.

Hank: IRRESPONSIBLE!

Melissa: * whimpered in pain the headache she had growing stronger.* Sarge.

Hank: I will throw your ass off this case!

Melissa: you can't you need me and Jay to make the deal and trade complete!

Hank: * stomps to. his office and slams the door.*

* The group laughs softly and then gets sober. Soon enough they are normal.

Still not getting a call from Jackon about all the prep work and trying to figure out where they might be. Turned into three days and two nights working this case.

Just when Melissa is about to give up all hope and think of declaring Amber and her family dead, melissa gets a call from Jackson on where to meet.

They then all gear up and begin the meet-up. Melissa couldn't place why this felt. like Deja Vu.

Once they arrive they begin walking around and then put of nowhere get grabbed.

They get dragged unwillingly to this huge warehouse. Once inside and in the room they are in then Jackson lets them go. He looks at both of them.

Melissa and Jay had found themselves in cuffs however this time neither one was in cuffs. They were on their way to make a deal with Jackson the guy who is the leader of Keyes crew.

He kidnapped Amber and her family with the help of his crew. The deal was that Jay and Melissa met up with Jackson that was the deal they could agree with.

Melissa though had a strange feeling of dejavú and she couldn't understand why. She couldn't see really well either so that didn't help.

They felt like they were getting the run around and Melissa by this time was done playing nice she had done everything that was asked. So she grabbed Jackson and broke his jaw. *

Melissa: Jackson Fuck you!

Jay: tell us where they are!

Jackson: Shut up both of you!

*Jay and Melissa watched Jackson and then Melissa tasered him and then tied him to the chair he was in. Melissa looked at Jay and shrugged her shoulders.*

Melissa: Think we have time to look for them?

Jay: We have to at least try to find them.

Melissa: * looks around and smiles.* I see the key.

Jay: Jackson is kinda stupid.

Melissa: Good!

Jay: Oh I'm not complaining.

Melissa: * laughs*

Jay: he doesn't bother to handcuff us

Melissa: he doesn't bother to handcuff our hands behind us

Jay: He doesn't bother to handcuff or tie our legs.

Melissa: The fact that we know how to be properly kidnapped worries me.

Jay: * chuckles* it's true though.

*Melissa finds the keys and then grabs them and then walks over to Jay then she walks with him to look for Amber and her family.*

Melissa: That's how you properly do this.

Jay: this worries me now.

Melissa: Come on let's look around see if we can find Amber and her family.

Jay: yeah and maybe talk to the team

Melissa: Sure.

*they both made their way around the warehouse looking for where the guy had left some sort of clue to where Amber and her family might be.

Melissa was able to get a signal and talked to the team. Telling them where they were and letting them know what they had around them.

Jay wasn't able to find anything and it looked like they had no way out. It was as if he was going around in circles. It didn't help the where house was pitch black.

Melissa decided to just try the flashlight feature on her phone and hoped for it to be bright enough to look around the place. She smiled when it worked.*

Melissa: it's more light than what we have!

Jay: we need to get out of here somehow.

Melissa: I'm not leaving without Amber and her family!

*Just as they both were walking around they heard voices faintly in the distance. They smiled they had hoped it could be Amber and her family.

They heard other voices that were closer to them Shouts soon echoed in the warehouse, all shouting 'Chicago PD' and "FBI "as they spread out, going their own ways as they looked for Jay and Melissa and Amber and her family.*

Jay: Over here!

Melissa: Over here!

Hank: Halstead !González!

Adam: Melly where are you guys?

Melissa: Over here!

Jay: Over here!

Mouse: Melly Bean! Jay!

*Melissa and Jay kept shouting, alerting the team where they were, Melissa and Jay knew that the team would find them if they kept shouting.*

Kevin: Boo! Jay!

Kim: Jay and Melissa!

Erin: We still have to find Amber right?

Adam: You hurt Melly?

Melissa: No I am okay

*Jay and Melissa both reassure everyone they are okay. They then begin to start the search for Amber and her family. *

Melissa: I'm good, I just really want to find Amber and her family.

Jay: we're honestly okay.

*They hear voices in the distance. They try to listen hard for the voices.*

Amber: Melissa?

Erin: That might be Amber!

Melissa: Amber, where are you?

Jay: Amber keep calling out!

Kevin: Amber!

Mary: over here!

Melissa: Amber and Mary and Sara were coming to find you!

Adam: keep calling out!

Erin: we're coming!

Adam: it's gonna be okay stay calm.

Erin: it's gonna be okay!

*Soon enough they find Amber and Mary and Sara. Melissa runs over to Amber and begins to undo the cuffs and rope and looks at Amber. *

Amber: You found me!

Melissa: was there doubt?

Amber: I didn't have doubt it was fear.

Melissa: let's get the fuck out of here.

Adam: couldn't agree with you more.

Kevin: Sara I'm gonna help you out of the cuffs.

Sara: Okay thanks, Kevin.

Jay: Mary it's gonna be okay

*Melissa called an ambo, attempting to lift Amber with Adam's help. Kevin lifted Sara without issue. Jay and Xander helped Mary.*

Melissa: 5021 Evan requesting several ambos to the abandoned warehouse.

Dispatch: Copy that 5021 Evan sending ambo to. Amabdoned wearhouse.

Melissa: Copy that dispatch I have three victims all female who were kidnapped.

Dispatch: Copy that 5021 Evan.

Jay: 5021 George Dispatch requesting back up to the abandoned warehouse.

Dispatch: Copy that 5021 George sending back up.

Erin: Girl, You're a badass!

Melissa: * smiles* Thanks.

Kevin: everyday.

Erin: Walking cast and all.

Melissa: I'm in pain. I can't wait to get this damn thing taken off.

Hank was standing by one of the ambos and Gabby and Antonio came with a board to lift Amber and her mom and sister on the beds.

Amber didn't want Melissa to leave her alone. Jay nodded and jumped into the back of the Ambo with Melissa Amber and Gabby.

Sara and Kevin hopped in one Ambo together. Erin and Xander hopped in the ambo with Mary.

Hank nodded and told themHe would handle everything.

Sighing in relief, Jay and Melissa get to feel like they could breathe once drove away from the warehouse.*

Gabby: Amber you're gonna be okay.

Amber: Thanks to Melissa.

Gabby: * smiles* you're brave.

*They arrive at Chicago Med and Melissa and Jay get out and let everyone do their thing. Will sees Melissa and Jay and looks at Melissa and points at her foot.*

Melissa: We have three female victims who were kidnapped.

Jay: They were at the abandoned warehouse I was taken to.

Melissa: I promise I will rest my foot.

Jay: They are alert and we are hoping nothing too serious is going on with them.

Will: You better rest Melissa! perfect we will take care of them.

Melissa: I promise. I will.

*Jay walked over to Melissa and hugged her. Melissa wrapped her arms around Jay.

She let her head fall onto his shoulder, eyes closed as she breathed in his comforting scent.*

*She said into his neck, feeling his body vibrate against hers when he laughed.*

Adam: When we find out how the victims are doing you two need to head home.

Christopher: they found his crew and they are taking them to be questioned.

*Jay gently lifted Melissa and brought her to a chair she didn't object. They sat next to each other. *

Melissa: this case was hard.

Melissa: I feel like a zombie.

Jay: we'll be home soon.

Erin: you hanging at Jay's place?

*Everyone laughs and then they all head out Melissa thinks about the warehouse one more time.

She notices it was the same one that she was brought to when she got kidnapped and it causes her to have a really bad flashback.*

Melissa: that warehouse was the same one I was brought to.

Jay: you okay?

Melissa: I just have a really bad flashback.

Mouse: Hey Melly Bean and Jay!

Melissa: mouse!

Adam: didn't that place look familiar?

Melissa: it's the same place I was brought to when I got kidnapped.

Hank: Okay that is a bit werid.

Melissa: makes me feel like we didn't get all the bangers like we thought.

Jay: It's not connected is it?

Hank: I don't think so .

Erin: we can always look into it!

Erin: oh girl I'm not done with this case.

Xander: she learned from you a case isn't done till it's done.

*Jay looked at Melissa and Hank and nodded.*

Kevin: it's highly likely that maybe this is not connected.

Xander: it's just seems like they are connected.

Adam: yeah but in our line of work it's usually connected.

Antonio: Hank and I will go visit Martson.

Melissa: I guess my message didn't go through.

Jay: it did just Hank needs to reinforce it.

Hank: All alright once you all find out how Amber and her family are doing you all can go home. Please get some rest.

Melissa: I promise I will.

Jay: we all need rest.

Kevin: we need food and rest.

Erin: I agree

* After some time Melissa was able to check on Amber. It put Melissa's mind at ease knowing Amber was okay.

After she stayed a long time with Amber and visited Ambers mom and sister Melissa was ready to head home and eat.

So then they all head to the cars and head back to the district and grab their things and then head to the cars again and head home.

Melissa sat quietly on the drive to her place. She had a lot on her mind. Once she got to her place she told everyone she was gonna wash her face.

She went to her room and then threw her things on her bed and headed to her bathroom turned the water on in the sink closed the door sat on the toilet lid and burst into tears. The warehouse being there again was too much for her.

Seeing Amber and her family the way she saw them was too much for her. She couldn't stop the tears.

The flashbacks were bombarding her and she was so deep in her own thoughts she didn't notice Jay had heard her crying and after turning off the sink. He was crouched right in front of her trying to comfort her.

He tried to comfort her and she cried harder. The lack of sleep didn't help her either. Jay gently lifted her in his arms.

Jay brought them to her bed he sat down on her bed and held her in his arms. Speaking to her softly. Erin heard Melissa crying and stood at the doorway.

Jay looked at her as if to say come in. She saw Melissa crying uncontrollably. Erin sat on the floor in front of where they were sitting on her bed.*

Jay: shhhh baby you have to calm down.

Melissa: * mumbles as she cries*

Jay: * kisses her forehead and holds her talking to her calmly running his fingers through her hair gently* Shhhh it's okay tell. me whatever it is I'm here.

* Erin moved to sit next to Melissa and Jay and gently gave Melissa's hand a squeeze to let her know it was okay. Erin reacted when Melissa squeezed her hand back.*

Melissa: * calms down a little not by much but you can sort of understand what she is saying between her tears* The warehouse gave me a horrible flashback.

Jay: * keeps running his fingers through her hair as he talks to her calmly.* wanna tell me about it?

Melissa: * inhales and exhales and gently looks at Jay staying close to him.* Just all that happened to me while I was there came rushing back into my mind.

Jay: * looks at Melissa and nods* I'm sorry baby.

Melissa: * looks at Jay* I remember they branded me.

Jay: * nods* Yes they did. You're still beautiful to me.

Melissa: * cries*

Jay: * looks at Melissa* Baby you are you're own brand.

Melissa: I don't belong to them.

Jay: You belong to yourself and me. * smiles*

Melissa: * smiles* Thank you.

Jay: I'm always here for you baby!

* Erin was crying while watching Melissa break down the way she did. She felt guilty for abandoning Melissa when Melissa needed her the most.*

Erin: I'm sorry I am a shitty best friend.

Melissa: Bitch stop that shit!

Erin: Listen bitch!

Melissa: Quit being a bitch. I'm fine.

Erin: you started being a bitch first!

Jay: The way you two talk to each other. * laughs*

Erin: Melly, I love you!

Melissa: I love you too E!

* the rest of the night went better Adam and Kim grabbed their stuff and Xander and Erin figured might as well stay.

Jay and Melissa thought it would be a good time to start looking for apartments.

They began the search and at first, they didn't agree on anything. Then they decided they should try again tomorrow after a good night's sleep.

Melissa tried to not let her flashbacks take over but having little to no sleep the past couple of nights and then dealing with a hard case she just couldn't heal the way she wanted.

She also couldn't sleep she just laid there in bed Jay next to her hodling her and he slept but not fully being worried about Melissa.

Hopefully with looking for apartments tomorrow it would cheer Melissa up and take her mind off of her flashbacks and the case.*
