Chapter 3 : Teammates

Ochako's POV:

———3 weeks since the first day of school goes by and Bakugou still has an unnecessary hatred for Ochako. The entire class has never seen Bakugou so agitated before...not even when he's with Deku.

One day, at lunch, Ochako, Iida, and Deku were finding a place to sit. Ochako was about to take a seat when all of a sudden, Bakugou comes out of nowhere and shoves her out of the way before taking a seat and smirking in her face.

Another day, Ochako was lying on the living room couch as she was taking a break from her homework which was on the coffee table. Bakugou walked by and analyzed her homework. He then started making fun of her for getting some questions wrong.

Every little thing she did, Bakugou would do his best to make Ochako feel beneath him. She couldn't understand what exactly initiated this harsh treatment but she wanted to get to the bottom of it. And soon, she'd get that chance...

It was homeroom and all of the students were waiting for their teacher to arrive. Ochako was sitting patiently in her seat and happened to look over at Bakugou. He was staring intensely at the ceiling with his feet resting on the desk as he leaned his chair back. 'He really has no manners, does he?' Ochako thought to herself as she rolled her eyes.

She continued to watch Bakugou and started to notice how attractive he was when he wasn't making a scary face or acting like a feral animal. Ochako slowly began to grin softly. The school bell rang and it snapped her back to reality. 'No way I was smiling at Bakugou...' she thought as she turned away from him with an annoyed look on her face.

That's when their homeroom teacher walked in and announced their first big assignment of the school year: "Starting today, you all will be splitting into teams of two. I want one person with an offensive quirk - one that's good for fighting - and a defensive quirk - one that's good for rescuing. You will be in this team for one month." The teacher continued to explain the ins and outs of this assignments and their tasks. He then gave each student a random piece of paper with a number on it. The students were to go to the battle grounds that aligned with their number. The class changed to their hero outfits and swiftly went to their battle grounds.

Ochako seemed to be the first person to her battle ground. 'I seriously hope that my teammate is someone good.' she pleaded in her head as she paced back and forth. Then, she heard heavy footsteps heading her way. 'God no...' she thought as she turned to the source of the footsteps. She saw what seemed to be a very mad Bakugou marching her way.

Bakugou walked up close to her and looked down at her. He stared at her intensely but to his surprise, Ochako stood her ground. She looked up at him, crossed her arms, and had a less than impressed look in her eyes. In that moment, Bakugou's heart started racing. He wasn't sure if it was because he didn't like that she wasn't intimidated by him or if it was because he liked that she wasn't intimidated. The two stared at each other in silence for what seemed like forever. Both seemingly trying to assert dominance.

Finally, Bakugou broke the silence with a chuckle of unbelief. He backed off and walked closer to the entrance of the battle ground. '

Now that he walked away, Ochako let out a sigh of relief. 'I CANNOT believe that I just did that...I swear he wants to kill me now...' she thought as she turned around and walked over to Bakugou nervously. She stood behind him as they waited for an instructor.

The silence between them was unbearable to Ochako. She wondered if Bakugou also felt awkward or if he was incapable of feeling that. Eventually, the instructor arrived to tell them what they needed to do in the battle ground.

"You are to save a very important government official from the villains hideout. There are about 10 enemies within the building. You're starting out easy so that we can work on your teamwork skills before we worry about your battle and saving skills." The instructor said. The two nodded and immediately got started in their training.

"Soooo what's the move?" Ochako asked as they approached the building.

"Stay here, Pink Cheeks. You'll just get in my way." he growled

"But we-" before she could finish, Bakugou took off. 'This will be an exhausting month...' she thought as she walked into the building, following the debris of destroyed robots to where the prop captive was being held.

It didn't take long for them to finish this training but given that she didn't get to contribute to anything, Ochako felt awful. After the instructor took a report of their efforts, their team wasn't awarded full points because of the lack of teamwork. Hearing this news, Ochako grew visibly angry....and so did Bakugou. The two held in their anger until the instructor left the pair. As soon as he was out of eyesight, Ochako turned to Bakugou. Her usual pink cheeks were almost as red as a tomato and tears were forming in her eyes.

"YOU SERIOUSLY COULDN'T LET ME HELP?! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A TEAM!!! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?!?!" she shouted, trying to hold back tears.

"Oh fuck off. If I let you help, you would've fucked our score up way worse." he said calmly, not even looking her in the eyes, in attempts to push her off the edge.

Fuming, Ochako remembered all of the other ways that Bakugou has tortured her these past few weeks. All of her frustration and anger has built up so much that she ended up kicking Bakugou's leg.

Shocked, Bakugou turned to her, rage in his eyes, and grabs her wrist. Ochako instantly regrets what she did and fear settles in...———
