Chapter 86
23:41, 3 June 2014(There's only a few chapters left and an epilogue!)
6 months later.
Harry's P.O.V.
"I love this place, I never want to leave." Riley smiled falling onto the bed in the hotel room.
"Yeah, it's lovely here." I agreed pulling out a new shirt.
"I want to live here when I'm older and done with life." She mumbled turning on her side and peering out the window.
"Let's do it." I smiled sitting down next to her, pushing her hair behind her ear. "I'll live in Iceland with you if you promise that you'll marry me one day." I whispered stroking her cheek with my thumb.
"Okay." She looked up at me, her eyes soft holding a happy glint in them. "I promise, Harry."
"I love you Riley, so much." I smile, leaning down and pressing my forehead to hers.
"I love you too Harry." She giggles grabbing the back of my neck and pressing my lips to hers. "You and all your dorkiness."
"Hey, I'm not a dork!" I gasp in a mock-hurt tone. She just holds my gaze, her lips pressing together trying not to laugh. "Alright a little bit."
Kaylee's P.O.V.
"I don't care." I sigh walking out of Nathans room after putting him down for his nap.
"Kayls, I know you do. I'm sorry." Niall groans pushing off the wall and following me into the kitchen. I pick up the rag and wipe down the counter where I spilled Nathans milk.
"You're allowed to have some drinks, you're allowed to go out with friends. I don't care." I huffed throwing the rag over the sink ledge. "But it's not okay when you come home slammed at 4 in the morning." I sighed looking at him, his hair still messy.
"I know, I'm sorry."
"But you're not Niall!" I laugh ironically, my head begining to pound. "I don't know what's wrong but you said this last time, which need I remind you was only last week."
"I'm sorry."
"You know how I feel about excessive drinking and coming home drunk." I continue, my mind flickering with thoughts of my dad coming home late completely drunk.
"I'm sorry."
"Would you shut up with that!" I scream slapping my hand on the counter. "Cause you're not fucking sorry! Everything you're doing is exactly what my father did to me and my mother! Coming home late, being obnoxiously loud and waking me up! Nathan wakes up crying and you don't even care cause you're too fucking drunk!"
"Kaylee, I'm fucking sorry." I can tell he's getting angry, good. "I won't do it again, I promise.
"I want to believe you, I really do." I whisper walking past him. "But I'm not sure I can. Not until I see it."
"I'll show you Kaylee, I'm not like your dad." I don't turn as his words cut through me, my hands shaking. I walk into Nathans room, seeing him stirring around in his crib. He hates naps, he never stays asleep.
"Ma!" He pouts holding himself on the cribs bar. I walk over and pick him up, cradling him to my chest. He'll be a year old in 3 months and he's just begining to walk, he's almost got it. "Da?"
"Say, momma." I smile sitting in the chair and facing him toward me.
"Momma."
"Say Daddy."
"Momma." He furrows his eyebrows together grabbing for my hair.
"No, no, daddy." I encourage him, saying the word slowly.
"Momma!" He cheers tugging at my hair. I sigh resting my head against the back of the chair, I'm not going to make my mothers mistake and if that means leaving Niall, well, then I may have too.
I heard the shower start to run and thanked god because whenever he drinks the stench kills me. "C'mon how about we go and play in the living room while mommy watches Steve Harvey." I smiled at the little boy who was just happy to be alive.
He couldn't really understand what I was saying but he smiled and nodded, excited as ever anyway. I got up and walked into the living room placing him in the play pen with all his toys that made way to much noise.
This was a daily routine. Everything had become one. Wake up, feed Nat, shower, change Nat, Play time, Feed Nat, Nap, Niall comes home (drunk or sober depending on how "stressed" he is) Nat wakes up and then it's time for my show while he plays again.
I can't say I hate the routine but it gets pretty annoying somedays. I'm just happy to spend time with Nat and watch him grow up, Niall can't really say the same.
"I'm just saying Niall, maybe stay home a little more. You're barely around to watch Nat grow up." I sighed lowering the volume on the tv in our bedroom.
"I can't just stay home like you Kaylee. I have a job that requires a lot attention." I looked over at him the only light in the room coming from the tv screen.
"Yeah but that job only goes from 7-4 like management promised you for the soul purpose that you could be home with us but no, you decide to go to the pub from 4 to whenever you feel like coming home cause you're "stressed"."
"You don't have to be such a bitch you know." He snapped as I was getting under the covers.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize I was a bitch because I wanted to spend time with you, the father of my fucking child and my soon to be fucking husband." I looked him directly in the eyes waiting for him to break the painful stare. "And I'd like to do it while you're sober because when you're drunk it's not even you. Just some strange man in our house."
"Kayl-"
"I'm going to sleep. You're stressing me out." I grumbled pulling the sheets over me. "It's not hard to act like you care about someone, it really isn't Niall. I've got one question for you. Whens the last time you told me you loved me?"
There was a long silence. It'd been forever. I don't see him in the morning because he's gone before I wake up and when he comes home he's either drunk or too tired to say three little words.
"Exactly." I whispered, my throat burning. But Kaylee, we don't cry over boys. I felt Niall get up, his silohuette moving across the room and out the door.
I laid awake all night waiting for him to come back but he didn't. We were to get married in a little more than 3 months and he seemed to not care about me or his son.
I heard Nat crying at about 6 and thanked god because another minute of lying awake would've driven me insane.
"Hey baby." I smiled walking up to his crib. "Oh you are so stinky." I laughed after picking him up.
"Bath!" He cheered. He was one of the only little kids that I've ever met that actually liked to take baths. "Daddy give bath?" He looked up at me a goofy little smile on his face. "Daddy give breakfast!"
"Daddy isn't home Nat." I told him watching his little smile falter. His bottom lip jutted out and began to quiver. "C'mon please don't cry, not tears." I sat down on the couch in the living bouncing him on my knee but to no prevail the tears began to spill over.
"Nat don't cry, baby." I cooed holding him closer to me. "Daddy will be home later."
After about 45 minutes Nat was still sniffling and small tears escaped from the side of his eyes as we sat waiting for Niall. I called him repeatedly but no answer. Texted him, no answer.
"Let's go on a little walk." I quickly washed up Nat and got him and myself dressed before walking upstairs. When I stopped at Liam's door there was a ton of noise. It was only 8 in the morning....
I looked down at Nat and his lip was still pouted, tears still filling his eyes. "Sh, it's okay." I whispered waiting for someone to answer the door.
"Oh, hey kaylee." Liam grinned answering the door. He was clearly drunk, using the doorframe to hold him up. "Aw Nat why ya crying bud?" Liam asked bending down to his level.
"Dada." Nat cried, once again. Liam got a look of almost panic on his face.
"Niall left last night and hasn't been back, do you know where he is?" I asked, my voice feeling exhausted and strained.
"Uh yeah, he's here." Liam stepped aside and let me in. The living room was completely trashed with empty food containers and bottles. I followed Liam up the stairs in the den, all the boys sitting around playing a video game drinking. awesome.
"Dada!" Nat cheered making Niall turn around, a beer in his hand the controller in the other. As soon as he turned around I could tell he was smashed, so much for his promise.
"Hey bud." He slurred standing up and walking over all the boys, stumbling as he went. He came over and went to take Nat but I turned away from him, walking out of the room. "What the hell?"
"You're not holding him. You can barely stand up." I laughed half heartedly as I walked down the stairs, Niall behind me.
"Kaylee, stop going so fast." He huffed as I walked out the door down to the apartment.
"You're actually unbelievable Niall." I shook my head walking down the hall toward the bedroom. When I got inside, Niall stumbled in closing the door. I grabbed my suitcase, balancing Nat on my hip.
"What are you doing?"
"Going to stay somewhere else." I grabbed handfulls of clothes and threw them into my suitcase. "I can't, I really can't Niall. I mean what the fuck." I looked over at him, my eyes stinging. Nat grabbed onto my shirt tighter, as I cradled him.
"Don't leave, just bring Nat to the boys and we'll talk."
"Are you joking? You're all piss drunk! Why would I leave my son with that? Are you that stupid?" I stared at him waiting for his response to which he just burped. "Niall I can't do this."
I sat down on the bed, my back to him, Nat sitting on my lap looking up as tears started to spill down my cheeks. "I don't know what's wrong with me."
"You don't care about us, Niall. It's that simple. If you did, you wouldn't have kept drinking like this. He finally asked for his dad this morning and you weren't here. He wanted his dad." I cried trying to compose myself.
Nialls fist hit the wall with a lous thud making me jump, startling Nat. "I love you."
"I'd love to believe that." I mumbled, not sure if he heard it or not. "I'm going to stay at my moms tonight, and that's already decided."
"Kayl-"
"Listen to me. I'm coming back tomorrow morining, just me, and if you're sober... we can talk because we need to figure things out Ni. I'm not living like this and I'm not putting my baby through this." I stood up laying Nat on the bed as I finished packing.
"Please don't leave me Kaylee." He pleaded grabbing at my arm.
"Get off me!" I snapped, jerking my arm from his grasp. "I'm sorry, I just need one night not in this house and not with you."
I picked up Nat, his eyes looking panicky as I walked out of the room, the suitcase behind me. "Don't leave, just drop Nat off and come back Kaylee, c'mon please."
"Niall you don't understand!" I screamed, immediatly feeling bad for being so close to Nat. "I can't do it! I'm leaving, I have to and if you can compose yourself by the time I get back tomorrow then we can talk but if not.... I dont know what I'm going to do."
And with that, I walked out the door closing it behind me.
I waited a minute or so to see if he would do anything. Yell, break something, come running out, but nothing.
