Chapter 32

( A/n: Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Man Part 4 )

Hiccup: ( to the group as he discovered that the two keys fit together: ) Look, they fit together! We must be on the right track.

Ruffnut: Hiccup, what are you going to do with your part of the treasure?

Hiccup: I'm not really here for the treasure.

Meryl: Me too, I'm just making sure Hiccup doesn't get himself hurt trying to prove himself.

Onyx: ( honestly: ) Me neither, the only treasure a person needs is what's around them.

Snotlout: Great! I get their share!

Meryl: ( to Hiccup: ) You know, hon, you don't have to do this, right?

Hiccup: Yeah, try telling that to my dad.

Meryl: Oh, I did back at the Great Hall. Hopefully he realizes it when this is over.

The Riders and Onyx then go to what looked to be a wall in the middle of the woods.

Hiccup: This must be the spot. Why else would anybody build a wall in the middle of the woods.

Meryl: Out of boredom?

Tuffnut: Uh, duh, to keep out the other trees.

Hiccup: Uh, I got another one for you. " The world is right, when stars align; when not in sync, the danger you'll find. "

While the Vikings argue about what the clue meant, Meryl and Onyx saw that there were shapes carved into each of the bricks of the wall.

Meryl: ( to Hiccup and the gang: ) Hey, guys, there's shapes carved into the wall. I see two stars on-

Snotlout: Got it!

Snotlout pulls a brick with a star on it, which causes everything to shake, Onyx quickly pushes it back in the wall, making the shaking stop.

Onyx: ( to Snotlout: ) How about you don't touch anything from now on.

Hiccup: Okay... It says, " in sync. " That means we must move the stars at the same time. Ruff? Tuff?

Meryl: The other star is right there. ( Points to the second star )

Tuffnut and Ruffnut then had Barf and Belch grab the two star bricks and pulled them out at the same time, which caused a opening to appear.

Ruffnut: Wow, this is amazing.

The group then went inside into a chamber, Onyx quickly started silently growling as they felt the room suddenly become warmer.

Snotlout: Ugh, it's so hot. Is anybody else hot? Cause I'm really hot.

Astrid: ( to Onyx: ) Onyx, what's wrong?

Tuffnut: I know. I'm sweating like a dragon at an eel party.

Meryl looks at the ground and noticed that it was moving.

Meryl: Uh, guys? It is just me or is the floor alive?

Hiccup: Uh, Toothless, can you give us some light?

Toothless fires a plasma blast, lighting the room, revealing that there was a bunch of tiny dragons on the ground. Onyx was growling at the tiny dragons.

Fishlegs: That's why it's so hot in here. Fireworm dragons.

Tuffnut: Whoa.

Tuffnut then goes to pick one up.

Hiccup: Stop!

Meryl: Are you crazy, Tuffnut?! Their skin burns hotter than the sun!

Tuffnut: Yeah, but how hot can the sun really be?

As soon as Tuffnut picked a Fireworm up and as soon as it touched his skin, Tuff screamed in pain, making the fireworm fall off him. Onyx backed up away from the tiny dragons, accidentally stepping on a pressure plate, causing multiple pillars of keys made out of different kinds of metals to appear.

Tuffnut: Whoa.

Snotlout: Grab'em and let's go!

Hiccup: No, it's a choice. Listen to this, guys. " Something pure and something strong. Look first to yourself, and you won't go wrong. "

Fishlegs: Strong... That must be the one made of iron.

Meryl: But it isn't pure. Take the gold.

Astrid: It's getting really hard to breathe!

Fishlegs: That's what happens when you're getting roasted alive! You might wanna make a decision soon, Hiccup! We don't have much time!

As Hiccup was trying to figure out which to choose, the dragons used their last shots to try to keep the fireworms away from their riders. Hiccup then whispered something to himself before preparing to pick up a key that showed his reflection.

Meryl: Careful, Hiccup. It could be a trap.

Hiccup then picked up the key, which seemed to be the right one, but before he could celebrate, the floor suddenly gave away. Hiccup screamed as he and Toothless plummet to a dark abyss.

Meryl: Hiccup!! Toothless!!

The whole place started coming down.

Meryl: No, no! Where'd they go?! Hiccup! Toothless!

Tuffnut: We gotta get out of here!

Snotlout: Through there! ( He points to the opening above them )

Meryl: No! I'm not leaving them!

Fishlegs: ( to Meryl: ) If we don't go now we'll all be trapped. There won't be anybody to help Hiccup or Toothless.

Meryl sighed in defeat as she knew that her friend was right. She got on Goofball as Astrid pulled Onyx onto Stormfly, and the riders escaped through the opening.

When the opening closed, the two Scalewalkers and the five dragon riders begin digging through through the rumble.

Astrid: Keep digging! We've gotta find them!-

The Riders see Onyx lift up a rock that was twice the size of his body, and watched him tossed it to the side with ease.

Onyx: ( saw that the riders were looking at him ) ( confused: ) What? Why are you guys looking at me like that? ( Slightly scared: ) Is there a fireworm on me?

Stoick: ( off-screen: ) Find who?

The group saw that Stoick and Gobber arrived with Evergreen, who quickly noticed that something was wrong as she sniffed around looking for Hiccup and Toothless. Stoick took one look at the pile of rocks and the worried teens and knew that the worse had happened.

Stoick: Son!

The Vikings then began joining the teen with digging through the pile. Evergreen quickly began panicking, Goofball quickly went to keep the baby dragon calm.

Stoick: Keep digging! That's my son in there!

Suddenly the ground shook. Everyone turned and saw a small hill had collapsed. Meryl gasped in fear, as tears began forming in her eyes.

Stoick: ( in horror: ) Son!

But then suddenly, Hiccup and Toothless emerged from the dust, causing Evergreen to roar happily and Meryl lets out a sigh of relief.

Hiccup: Hey, Dad.

As soon as the two landed and Hiccup got off Toothless meeting Stoick halfway, Stoick quickly went to Hiccup and gave him a bone crushing hug.

Hiccup: Uh, dad, I can't breathe.

As soon as Stoick released Hiccup, Meryl went over to Hiccup and punched his shoulder.

Meryl: ( to Hiccup, sternly: ) Don't you ever scare me like that again! I nearly had a flame attack! Again!

Evergreen then ran to Hiccup and tackled him to the ground out of joy, before she jumped and tackled Toothless to the ground.

Meryl: ( helps Hiccup up ) You also scared Evergreen, as well as everyone here.

Fishlegs: Hiccup, thank Thor you're alive!

Onyx: ( goes to Hiccup with a serious expression ) What happened? Are you or Toothless hurt?

Snotlout: Blah, blah, blah. Who cares?! Where's the treasure?-

Hiccup pulled out a painting of the Hamishes, but this painting revealed that Hamish the second was a hiccup.

Hiccup: This is Hamish's real son.

Snotlout: That's not treasure.-

Onyx and Meryl glared at Snotlout and growled at him, making Snotlout laugh nervously out of fear of angering the two Scalewalkers.

Stoick: To a father, it is. ( To Hiccup: ) I never meant to make you feel like you had to do something like this.

Hiccup: I know, Dad. But I had to do it. For myself.

Onyx: I vote we make things right...

Meryl: By burning the buff Hiccup portrait and fixing the Hamishes portrait.

Onyx: I think it's time that people saw the real Hamish the second.

( Slight time skip, at the Great Hall )

Bucket replaced the old painting with a more accurate one, while Onyx replaced the old Hamishes portrait with one that he made that showed what Hamish the second really looked like. All the riders were proud to see this, and Stoick placed a hand on Hiccup's shoulder with a proud smile.

Astrid: ( to Onyx: ) It was nice of you to make a new painting for the Hamishes.

Onyx: It's only right. Imagine how Hamish the second felt about everyone not knowing what kind of kind he really was.

Meryl: ( grabs Hiccup's hand ) The best kind. Now, Evergreen...

Evergreen grabbed the old portrait of Hiccup and Stoick and destroyed it into pieces with her tail, before looking at everyone with a cute purr and her tongue sticking out.

Stoick: Speaking of Evergreen... ( To Hiccup and Meryl: ) How in the name of Thor, have you two been able to handle her? Especially you, Meryl, she lives with you.

Meryl: That's because taking care of Evergreen is...

Hiccup: A two person and two dragon job. ( Gestures to Toothless and Goofball, who were now standing beside the couple )

Gobber: Well, we now have a whole new found respect for the both of you, especially after seeing her tantrums.

Meryl: ( chuckles ) Good to know you had fun.
