Chapter 31

( A/n: Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Man Part 3 )

The Riders and Onyx were now at the spot on the beach. Hiccup had the map.

Onyx: ( to Meryl: ) I fail to see why watching Evergreen is a dangerous and unpredictable task.

Meryl: That's because you are not the one taking care of her.

Hiccup: Listen up, you guys. " From here you will see the seed that's been sown. Look to where water turns to bone. "

Snotlout: " Water turns to bone "? Hamish isn't even trying to make sense!

Hiccup: No, it- " Water turns to bone "..." water turns to bone"... He must mean ice! The glacier!

Meryl: I bet that when we get to the glacier, Stoick is going to face Evergreen's random tantrum.

Astrid: " random tantrum "?

Hiccup: You don't want to know, trust me.

( With Stoick, Evergreen, and Gobber )

Evergreen was calmly sitting beside Stoick, looking at the two vikings.

Stoick: ( to Gobber: ) You had the map, and you didn't destroy it?! What were you thinking?!

Gobber: I know. I'm a idiot. I thought maybe you and I could take another crack at finding that treasure.

Stoick: Gobber!

Gobber: We turned back too early! So we lost a couple of toes.

Stoick: Ack! Come on, Gobber. We've got to find Hiccup and the others before they get themselves killed! Why would he do something like this?-

Evergreen then started growling with her wings open.

Gobber: Uh, Stoick, why is she-

Evergreen then started randomly throwing a tantrum and started tossing stuff around the around.

Stoick: What in the name of Thor?!

( With the Riders and Onyx, at the glacier )

The Riders, their dragons, and Onyx were at the glacier. Onyx and Astrid saw that there was something in the ice.

Astrid: There's something in there.

Fishlegs: I bet that guy saw it too. ( Gestures to a dead frozen viking )

Hiccup: " Call on Magni, you'll go astray. Freya, though, will show the way. "

Snotlout: I get it.

Snotlout was about to try to break the ice, but Onyx stops him.

Onyx: Don't break the ice.

Hiccup: Onyx's right. We can't break the ice. That's what Magni means. He's the God of strength.

Fishlegs: That's right!

Meryl: And Freya is the Goddess of fire.

Hiccup: And that's exactly what we're going to use.

Onyx: Stay back. Both dragon and people.

The Riders and their dragons backed up as Onyx started using his fire breath to melt the ice, and he then picked up the object, the object was obviously made out of metal as it was burning red because of the heat of his fire. He waited until the metal cooled down before he gave it to Hiccup.

Hiccup: ( to Onyx: ) Thank you.

Ruffnut: That's it? This is the treasure?

Hiccup: No. Can't be. But I bet this will lead us to it.

Meryl: ( quietly: ) It kinda looks familiar, but I don't know why...

Tuffnut: ( takes the object ) Take us to the treasure!

Meryl: Let us know if it answers.

Onyx takes the object from Tuffnut and hands it back to Hiccup.

Hiccup: This is just the first piece.

The ground begans breaking beneath them, Meryl quickly whistles, and Goofball quickly goes to her and lets her get on his back.

Hiccup: Toothless!

The dragon riders quickly got on their dragons and Onyx gets on Stormfly with Astrid, they quickly escape the glacier.

( Meanwhile, with Stoick, Evergreen, and Gobber )

They were on the beach, Gobber and Stoick had multiple scratches on them and Evergreen was now on a leash. Gobber was kneeling beside some night fury prints.

Gobber: Night fury prints. They were here... ( Sniffs the sands of the prints ) about an hour ago.

Stoick: I'll never understand how you do that. What does an hour ago smell like, Gobber?

Gobber: Not as strong as a half hour ago.

They then see the dragon riders leave the glacier.

Stoick: Look! The kids must have found something up there.

Gobber: It was in the glacier! I knew it!

Stoick: Oh, ya knew it, did ya? Then how come we spent a week digging in the sabd?!

Gobber: That was your idea!

Evergreen rolled her six eyes at the two vikings.

Stoick: Hiccup got further in one afternoon than we got in a month.

Gobber: Yeah. Looks like the little Hiccup's got the best of us. And we think we're the big, strong vikings.

Stoick: What are you saying, Gobber?

Gobber: The same thing Meryl told you at the Great Hall, Stoick. It's the painting.

Stoick: Of course! He's trying to prove himself.

Gobber: Not only that, Meryl must've left Evergreen with you as punishment for causing him to do this- Stoick, where is Evergreen?

Stoick looks and saw that Evergreen not only chewed off the leash, he saw that she was floating on a piece of driftwood in the water with a purr and a mischievous smile. Gobber and Stoick looked at the baby Green Death in shock.

Gobber: ( to Stoick: ) She really is the dragon child of Hiccup and Meryl, not only is she smart, she's wild.

Stoick: Evergreen! Get back here, right now! Come on, Gobber, we need to get her.

Gobber: Our first mistake was using normal rope.

( With the riders )

Meryl: Why do I have a feeling Evergreen did something?

Hiccup: ( to Meryl: ) She probably is just driving my Dad crazy with one of her mischief moments.

Astrid & Onyx: Mischief moments?

Meryl: ( tiredly: ) You don't want to know.

Hiccup: ( reads the next clue on the map ) At the edge of the world, amidst the raging sea, in the serpent's mouth, lies another key.

Tuffnut: Serpents? I hate serpents. Those are reptiles, right?

Ruffnut: ( to her twin: ) You do realize you're sitting on one?

Tuffnut: Eugh!

Meryl rolled her eyes at the twins' antics.

Snotlout: Hey! That cloud looks like a snake.

Astrid: Yeah, and in five minutes, it'll look like a bunny.

Onyx: How would Hamish even put the key in a cloud? They didn't made peace with the dragons back then.

Hiccup: Wait-wait-wait a minute. He might be onto something. " In the mouth, lies the key. "

Meryl's eyes then widened at the sea stack that looked like a snake, and Hiccup sees it.

Hiccup: Look! Right there! Toothless, let's go-

Fishlegs: ( to Hiccup: ) Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa a-are you crazy? You can't take a Night Fury with a wingspan of forty-eight feet and expect him to hover in winds like that! You'll be killed!

Meryl: Uh, guys...

Hiccup: Well, what's the wingspan of Meatlug?

( A few seconds later )

Fishlegs and Meatlug were taking Hiccup to the serpent sea stack. When they got to the mouth of the sea stack, they saw that there was a pile of different kinds of shiny objects, Fishlegs was confused, but Hiccup quickly knew who put all the stuff there. Meryl, the other riders, and Toothless were watching from a sea stack nearby.

Hiccup: ( Yells, to Meryl: ) Mery! Is this one of the spots you hide the stuff you stole?

Meryl: No ( her nose twitches ) Maybe ( her nose twitches again ) ( honestly: ) Yes.

Astrid: ( to Meryl: ) You stole stuff?

Meryl: Only the shiny ones!

Hiccup: Meryl! Where is it?

Meryl: Depending the size and how shiny it is... Next to the dagger I stole from Astrid when I was 12.

Astrid: You what?!

Meryl: ( to Astrid: ) You left it on the ground! And you didn't keep your eyes on it!

Onyx stiffened a laugh at the look on Astrid's face.

Hiccup: Got it! How's that for a hiccup?

Fishlegs, Hiccup, and Meatlug then rejoined the group with the second key. Meryl crossed her arms, as she was a bit upset that an object was taken from one of her hidden shiny spots.

Hiccup: ( to Meryl: ) I promise I'll make it up to you later, Meryl.

Meryl: Fine. You can make it up to me by not getting yourself killed.

Astrid: I still can't believe Meryl steals stuff.

Meryl: Again, only the shiny ones.

Onyx: It's a Scalewalker thing, each Scalewalker hoards some kind of materials.

The riders then look at Onyx, he looks at them confused.

Onyx: What?

Astrid: And you...?

Onyx: ( blushes in embarrassment: ) I may or may not have secret stashes of books.

Snotlout: Books? Seriously?

Onyx: I like to read, okay? Let's just go!
