Chapter 21

Annabeth

I just stared. Thats all i done was stared. I was confused, hurt and many other different feelings. My cheek killed as i waited for will to come back from fixing up Percy. He deserved what he got, everything bad thats happened to him and is gonna happen to him he deserves it. I don't know who he is anymore. All i know is that, that boy that attacked me isn't the boy i fell in love with. He wouldn't lie to me, he wouldn't say hurtful things and mot of all he wouldn't of lashed out at me. The real Percy would rather die then hurt me.

My thoughts where interrupted by Will. He made no attempt of being quiet. Almost as if he wanted to disturb me. I just glared at him. Half of my face was covered to pressurize the bleeding. All i knew was there was allot of blood.

"How you feeling Annabeth?" I said nothing. I jut glared holes in the wall opposite me, not willing to speak to anyone. In the corner of my eye i could see him frown.

"Annabeth i need to know how you feel before i give you anything to ease the pain!" Will snapped. I spun my head round and glared at him.

"Don't talk to me like that!" I whispered low and venomously.

"Well sorry Annabeth! But after what just happened i'm not in the mood either!" He countered. "Now tell me whats wrong before i kill you by over dose!"

"You sure you want to go there Will? You've seen what i done to Percy.... Do you want that to happen to you?" I whispered. I can tell he heard it. What next shocked me. Will threw down the supplies he was holding. It made a massive loud bang, scaring me half to death.

"What was that for!" I screeched.

"To get your attention! I don't care what happened Annabeth! Its your choosing of time! It could've waited! We're going to be heading to war any day now and your being a stubborn little bitch!" I was shocked. Will never had out burst like this before. "What goes on between you and Percy is between you! But you need to stop being selfish and think of the rest of us!"

"I'm not being-"

"Yes you are!" Will interrupted. "You don't see how badly, your two's fighting affects the rest of us! We all look up to you two! And seeing you like this isn't helping any ones spirits! People already have doubt's about this and are looking to you and Percy for guidence! What about Nico? He needs the two of you since Bianca died, thats the only reason why he stuck around.... he needs the two of you and this isn't helping!"

"Oh....." I haven't really considered that.

"Yeah oh!" He spat. "Now turn your head so i can patch you up.

After about five minutes Will had me patched up. No sooner than he had i bolted for the door. I heard him shout behind me but i didn't stop. Hot tears stung my eyes and fear clenched my heart. Percy might be such a piss head at times but i love him none the less. I can't let him do this.... just hand himself over to that Dameon. I might not know the whole story but i'm not going to loose him again.

I ran to the edge of camp. Already there was a thick crowd, forming to watch the great Percy Jackson. I just hope that i'm not too late. I finally got to the fron and found myself next to Nico and Lacey. Lacey looked at me, fear in her eyes, she looked at Nico and i turned to the thirteen year old. He doesn't seem like a teenager. The look on his face, loosing the guy who's as good as a brother, was heart breaking. I done the natural thing i do when i see some one upset. I pulled him into a hug.

Thats when the gut wrenching sobs came. He burried his face into my shoulder and cried. I was shocked, this was very unlike Nico. tightened my arms around him and pulled him closer. I was on the verge of tears myself, just hearing Nico cry. At the same time it made me angry. This boy has gone through so much, lost people he loved, and now he's about to loose Percy.

"Don't let him go!?" Nico sobbed. "Please Annabeth! Stop him!" He pulled away. His eyes where puffy and red. Looking into those dark eyes, i saw how much he cared for Percy.

"Nico...." I didn't know what to say. I was about to carry on when i heard it. I straightened my back and held Nico close. I've heard that soud before, the deep rustling, the thumping. I know just by the sound of it whats comming through the forrest.

Just to confirm it they came through the forest and all of us could see. Almost everyone stepped back. Nico and Lacey took several steps back and so did almost everyone else. Apart from, Thalia, Clarrise, Katie, Connor and Travis and a few others from camp. We've faced these monsters before. That was almost two years ago now.... right when we were looking for the Labrynth and Nico. The still looked horrible, but i don't remember them being this big, but there was no doubt about it.

Standing no less than ten feet away were giant scorpions.

I heard a few whispers, some even gasped. But once you've faced them the fear goes away. Kinda. I looked around, and Percy was no where. I was about to call out to Thaia when Dameon spoke.

"Perseus Jackson!" He bellowed. everyone turned round and started wondering where he was. some started to whisper, others just looked worried.

"Show your self Perseus! Or Jason over here will suffer!" Some rogues pulled Jason to the front. Thats when the scream came.

"JASON!" Brianna ran to the front. The Stolls had to stop her, she was crying repulsively. My heart just felt like its been stomped on. "JASON!" She screeched and sobbed and pleaded. I couldn't take it any longer. Gathering my courage i walked forward.

"Release him!" I shouted. I stopped about three feet away. Dameon just smirked. He dismantled from the scorpion he was riding (how he got on was beyond me) and started circling me.

"Well..... Well.... Well..... Isn't it Annabeth Chase, Percy Jacksons own little sweatheart!" He threw his head back and laughed.

"Giv us Jason!" I snapped. He just tutted.

"Not without Percy, my love...." He went to touch my cheek but i pulled away in disgust.

"Well i'm just as good as Percy..... I'll take his place!" My voice came out strong but inside i was frightened.

"I though with your little encounter with one of my groups would've sent you packing?" I just glared at him.

"I thought after hearing all the stories of me and Percy defeating Kronos would've sent you packing?!" I countered, adding venom into my voice.

"You've got sas Chase! Definately an Athena girl!" His eyes glinted with mischief.

"Yeah... well i'm out of your league then buddy!" I spat. "Now! Are you willing to let me take Percy's place for Jasons?"

"I don't know..... i've heard of your wisdom but not your fighting.... maybe a little battle might make me change my mind?" Oh shit...... 

"I'm not killing anyone-"

"You don't have to kill just injur!" He inquired. That got me thinking.... If it Kept Percy here and keeps Jason safe and gets him healed then yeah! But theres things that could go wrong...... My thoughts where interrupted by shouting.

"NO ANNABETH! I WON'T LET YOU!" Percy came charging through the crowd. I couldn't let him ruin this.

"STOP HIM!" I yelled and Reece, Chris, Jason, Frank and Leo tackled him to the floor. I looked at Percy's struggling form and i wanted nothing more than to go over there and tell him how sorry i was...... But i can't look weak. I turned back with more determination.

"I'm in!"
