Chapter 2

At school , the only lesson that i usually look forward to is history where i can turn around every once in while or to be honest , all the time to look at Lucas , either to tell him how much he bothers me with his country western background or to annoy him . He seemed like he doesn't mind but i guess thats why he can put up with me because the amount of tolerance he has for unnecessary bullshit is remarkably massive . And anyone with that amount of tolerance is anyone on my list of guys to look out for .

Me and Lucas had our moments , i dated him once for like 2 seconds , i jumped on his back to avoid him from doing something completely stupid and there was also this one time he took me by the waist and carried me but only because he was trying to prevent me from bashing someone in the face -long story- . Anyway , i've been pretty good at hiding my feelings , no one suspects a thing . Riley only thinks i despise him and Lucas sees us as frienemies while Farkle just see it as normal friendship . Its painful to see Riley and Lucas swoon over each other but Riley's been my bestfriend since forever and there would be nothing i'd do to hurt her . Shes done so much for me , the least i can do is give way .

I try not to blush every time Lucas walks by or smiles and waves at us , i try not to think its attractive . Do you know how hard trying is .

Before my secret got out , me and Lucas got partnered up for a pretend business project where we had to bake muffins and sell them . We called our business the 'FriarHart muffins' . I thought it was adorable but again i had to pretend i hated it and thats when i went up close to his face because he was being adorable and i wanted to kiss him right there and then but we didn't kiss of course .

Lucas lives in an apartment right above mine so he could come by my window anytime he wanted and he does that only to ask why i hated western country or some irrelevant information about Riley . But i didn't mind , it was all about having him around .

It was almost Thanksgiving and Riley had invited me to her house to celebrate .

"Maya , you're invited to thanksgiving at the Matthews !" She exclaimed , dashing forward to me with her book bag strapped on her shoulder .

"Thank you Riles , i'll be there" I smiled sincerely

"Guess who's coming ?"

"Your family ?" I asked unknowingly

"My uncle , Josh" she said nudging my elbow

"Then its going to be a wonderful thanksgiving." i smirked

Joshua Matthews is Riley's uncle and i met him during Christmas last year . I celebrate christmas every year with the Matthews except this year theres going to be Lucas and Farkle . I was talking to Riley when Josh came in through the front door like an instant christmas present made for me . He was charming and attractive and i realised he could be my one way ticket to moving on from Lucas . I wasn't using him , i just thought maybe if i had serious feeling for Josh , it could make me forget about Lucas . Not a rebound , more like someone new .

During that Christmas party , i made it way obvious that i was into Josh but he said something about being too old for me . Heck it . I'm going after him . Its been a year since i last saw him and i think this thanksgiving , i might have a chance at scoring a date .
