Chapter 27
16:56, 8 October 2021*Loki's POV*
I followed King Gabbro down the stairs, through his throne room and into a smaller room to the side. It was his combat room and he basically lived in it. He had the heads of his army standing inside and around a large map on the table.
"Now." Gabbro said as he looked at the map and then to all of us.
"We need to think of a new strategy to defeat those bastards on the other side of the river." He harshly said. The Bolder people have been at war with the Woodland people for many years now and the Woodland people were beginning to win. I did some reading on the history of these people as well as read their minds to get a better idea of how to act. The Bolder people were violent and vicious people, their own castle made from the remains of their Woodland enemies.
"Sir!" A guard yelled out from outside of the room. The King motioned for me to answer it so I opened the door and the guard came running in.
"What?!" He harshly asked his man.
"T-There's an alien here. He-he's demanding the girl!" The guard said with wide eyes. I tensed up and glanced over to the King, who's brows were furrowed in confusion. I couldn't believe he found us. But then again, I have no idea where we are. These people are stuck in, what is equivalent to the the medieval ages on Earth. They had no idea the wonders space held.
The King ordered us to follow him and we quickly left the combat room and went outside. Standing on the stairs I clenched my jaw as I stared down at the hooded figure and his small platoon of men. They had their guns out and aimed at all of us and they seemed eager to use them.
"Who are you?" King Gabbro demanded.
"I am here for the girl. Alex." The figure said with his distorted voice. I glanced over to my left and up, spotting the window that lead to Alex's room. She was standing with her back against the wall and her eyes on us, hiding.
"Who?" The King asked, playing dumb. I knew that was stupid idea but also knew it could buy Alex time to escape, so I didn't say anything.
"This girl." The figure snapped and one of his men held out his arm, revealing a holographic picture of Alex and me in my natural form. We were smiling at one another outside on Tony's balcony. The picture was taken on Earth before I left for the war. It made me feel sick knowing he had been watching us this entire time.
"I want the man who was with her as well." He added as the King stared at the hologram with wide eyes.
"I-" He began to speak but the figure nodded to the guard next to me and a laser bullet flew through his head, killing him in an instant.
"If you do not return to me what is mine I will destroy your whole planet." The figure harshly promised. I stared down at the body and then looked back at the figure, who's eyes were on me. I had a feeling he suspected I was hiding in another form and I knew we needed to leave, now.
*Alex's POV*
I ducked down as the figure looked over towards my window and crawled towards the door. As I passed the mirror and desk I heard faint static in my ears. I froze and slowly crawled closer to the mirror, the static getting louder.
"My comms." I whispered. I slowly moved until I found a spot where the static was loudest. It hurt my ears but I knew that hearing static meant the connection could be there. I sat in the chair and stared into the mirror as I controlled my breathing.
"Fury?" I whispered.
"Fury!!" I harshly whispered again.
"A-Al-ex." His voice was breaking up and faint, but I could hear him. I laughed a little and nodded as I licked my lips.
"We're okay. I don't know where we are." I whispered as I looked over to the window, still hearing the king and figure speaking.
"Wha-d-the b-eing-s lo-you-are?" I furrowed my brows and tried to piece together his broke words. It clicked that he was asking what the beings on this planet look like. If they can identify them they can find us.
"Rock humanoids." I quickly answered.
"Wha-t?" Fury asked. I inhaled and let out an annoyed groan as I stared at the mirror again.
"Do you have my feed?" I asked him.
"Y-es." He replied. I frantically looked around the room for anything to draw with but there was nothing around. I looked down at my hands and knew what I needed to do. I punched the lower corner of the mirror with my fist and a few pieces of glass broke off as the rest cracked a little. I drug the biggest piece across my hand and winched in pain as blood began to pool up in my palm. I took my right pointer finger and dipped it in the blood and began to draw on the mirror. I wrote the words "Rock humanoids" but also drew the best picture of their king as I could.
"Got it?" I asked as I dropped my hand.
"Y-e-s. Wh-er-Lok-i?" He asked me.
"He-" I was cut off as the door to the room flew open. I caught a glimpse of the figure in the mirror and sat frozen as he slowly dropped his hood.
"Loki?" I asked as I quickly turned around. The figure smirked and held up a small familiar remote in his hand. He pressed the largest button and a shock overtook my body and I tensed up as I fell out of the chair and to the ground. I dropped the glass as the pain ran through my veins, causing tears to fall from my eyes.
"A-l-e-" Fury's voice was gone and all I could hear was the sound of Loki chuckling as he walked into the room. He gabbed me by my throat and the shock stopped as he lifted me to my feet. He stared down into my eyes and smirked again. I looked up into his dim green eyes and clenched my jaw as the tears continued to pour down my face. My whole body ached from the shock.
"You aren't my Loki." I could barely get those words out but I knew they were true. He looked like Loki, but I knew he wasn't my Loki. He was a Loki from another universe.
"No..." The other Loki chuckled as he slowly lifted me to my feet, gripping my throat even harder and causing me to cough.
"The pathetic Loki for this universe is dead." He harshly added, his words cut me like ice. He lifted me higher and I stood on my tippy toes to get some leverage and keep myself from suffocating. I still has the piece of glass in my hand and knew I had to try something.
"Fuck you." I harshly said as I quickly swung my right hand up and to his face. I jammed the pointed part of glass into his left eye and he yelled as he tossed me into the mirror, shattering the whole thing. I hit the desk and rolled off onto the pieces of glass and coughed as I touched my throat. Blood gushed down his face and he backed up as he yanked the glass out. He covered his eye with his hand as he stared down at me, his breathing harsh.
"Bring her and allow Khordas to finish this planet off!" He yelled through clenched teeth. He put his hood back up and walked out of the room as his men forced me to my feet. I was escorted outside and through the bodies of the king and his men. I tried to pull away from the men but they kept pulling me back to them. I frantically examined the small massacre outside and spotted Loki in the pile of rock bodies, in his normal form. My heart shattered into a million pieces and vomit sat in the back of my throat.
"NO!!" I screamed as I pulled away from the men and ran towards the pile. I dropped to my knees and covered my mouth as an ugly cry took over. Loki's pale lifeless body laid under a few rock bodies, his eyes closed and his body covered in blood. The men forced me away from him and threw me to the ground near the other Loki's feet.
"You love him, how sickening." He snapped as he looked over at Loki's body and then back to me. He snapped his fingers and a bright beam came down on us and took us from the world. I felt so defeated. So dead inside. Our enemy was a pissed off psycho Loki from another universe. There was no stopping him.
*Meanwhile on Earth. Third POV*
Fury gathered his team as soon as he heard Alex's voice. He had been in his office reviewing her tapes from past missions, just something he did to see her again. He blamed himself for her disappearance since it was him who sent her there. When he saw the feed flicker and heard Alex's staticky voice breath through, he almost cried.
"It was Loki!!?" Tony loudly asked as he rewound the video and paused it just as the figure dropped his hood.
"How could it have been my brother?" Thor asked as he crossed his arms.
"We saw it, Thor. Loki's right there on the video." Sam argued as he pointed to the paused video.
"I do not believe it." Thor snapped. He truly couldn't believe his brother was behind all of this.
"Now, wait a minute. It could be a Loki from another universe, right? I mean, we know the CT come from another universe and they brought someone here." Bruce argued as he shrugged a little.
"We only know that because of Loki reading their minds." Peter harshly said as he shook his head.
"It can not be my brother!" Thor shouted.
"Look at the video Thor!! Listen to the surprise in Alex's voice! Hell, he even used that damn shocking device Brad uses on her. He knew about the device! No one knows about the device apart from you, me, Brad, Fury, Alex and Loki!" Tony shouted back. Thor huffed in anger but didn't reply because he knew that was true. The attacker, the hooded dark figure had the same remote the President used to hurt Alex before.
"The President has been under tight security since Prima was destroyed, how could Loki have gotten the remote?" Nat asked the group.
He...." Tony began to argue but her question stumped him.
"Hill, get President Haynes here now." Fury ordered his agent. She nodded and quickly left the room to go make some calls.
"Found it!!" Captain Marvel suddenly said as she quickly walked into the room. She knew more about the galaxies than anyone else in the organization. Given the information they had she was able to figure out which planet and what galaxy Alex and Loki were in.
"Two galaxies away on a planet called Kham." She informed them.
"We couldn't get through to her on normal comms because they have no satellites around their planet. They're still in the medieval period of their time." She explained.
"She must have caught a signal from a near by ship or planet that was more advanced." Tony added to Cap's theory.
"Thor, Tony, Bucky, Carol, and Bruce go. Now!" Fury shouted as he left the room. Tension was high as the group divided on their opinions. Some believed it was a different Loki while others believed it was theirs. But the group put that aside and left to prepare to leave. After the group gathered together with Thor, he called on Heimdall and they were taken to Kham. They landed at the castle and the ground began to pull apart as the world fell into pieces.
"We're too late!" Tony shouted as he looked around for anything that could help them. The sounds of panic from the citizens remaining here filled the air.
"There!" Bruce yelled as he pointed to a body in the rubble. Thor landed and threw the rock beings off of his brothers body and felt for a pulse.
"H-He's alive!" He shouted. He grabbed his brother and the others and called on Heimdall once again. This time they landed in Asgard and Thor rushed Loki to their hospital, praying he would live. Seeing Loki injured like that put some questions into the heads of the others. How could he have been the one to take Alex if he was this injured?
"What happened?" Tony asked as Thor returned to the rainbow bridge. The others stayed back to give Thor and the other Asgardians privacy to handle Loki.
"He's going to live. They shot him but missed his heart." Thor explained as he looked down to his brother's blood staining his clothes.
"We won't know anything until he wakes up." He added as he sighed.
"I'm sorry." Tony said as he put his hand on Thor's shoulder. Thor knew he meant he was sorry about Loki being hurt and for accusing him of hurting Alex.
"Away team." Fury's voice called out.
"Go ahead." Tony replied as he removed his hand from Thor's shoulder and crossed his arms.
"I want Thor and Tony to stay with Loki, Carol get back to that planet and look for clues and Bucky and Bruce come back here." He ordered. The group nodded and split up, going to their designated locations.
*A Few Hours Later*
Tony crossed his arms as he leaned back in the chair next to Loki's bed. The nurses said he was self healing slowly but enough to keep him alive. Thor had gone off to speak to Odin about what happened and what they know.
"N-No." Loki cried out. Tony raised a brow as he looked at the God and Loki's head moved back and forth, like he was having a bad dream. He suddenly gasped and sat up as he looked around.
"Alex!" He yelled. Tony jumped up from his seat and calmed the God down as he slowly pushed him back in his bed.
"Shhhh." He shushed his panicking friend. Loki pushed Tony away and began to pull the blanket off of him and tried to leave his bed.
"Loki, stop." Tony ordered as he fought him back.
"He took her!" Loki cried out as he pushed Tony back, causing the man to fall into his chair and then to the floor. Loki stumbled to his feet and Thor and Odin walked into the room as Loki stumbled forward. His brother caught him and helped him back to his bed at Tony stood up and fixed his shirt.
"He took her. We have to go." Loki demanded, pushing his brother's hands away.
"You aren't fully healed yet, son. You must stay here." Odin ordered. Loki glared at his father and clenched his jaws but laid back in his bed. Tony sat in his chair and Thor crossed his arms as all eyes fell to the God.
"Tell us everything." Tony nodded.
