To Love

04:07, 5 August 2024

I flew to the shore and sat down on the rocks, pulled my dress over my legs as I pushed them up to my chest in order to shield my chest. (I wish I had my shawl.)

I wrapped my wings around myself to keep warm.

"Solace!"

I looked over to see Draco flying down to me on his broom, stumbling as he landed and quickly running to me while still stumbling and almost tripping over his discarded broom.

"What we're you thinking?!" He wrapped his arms around me as if I was disappearing in front of him. "Please, I'm sorry. Please."

(Did he see that?)"Why are you here?"

Draco released me a little so he could look at me. "I was in the Astronomy tower and I saw..." He looks over me. {She's gorgeous.}"Why would you do that?"

I rested my chin on my arms. "We've been arranged by Voldemort to marry after we come of age."

Draco's eyes lit up. {Marriage? I would never want to marry anyone except her.} Draco's face saddened and he fell back on his butt. {She rather die than marry me.}

"That's not it." I jumped to say, Draco's face softened but he now realized I could read him. I showed him the balled up silk blindfold that was in my fist. "I can't think of anyone else I would want to marry."

"Then what's wrong?" Draco went back to a crouch position and took his jacket off for me. "Here." He draped it over my front.

"Thanks." I cuddled with it, smelling his cologne. "It's just... I wanted my life to be like any normal kids when I ran away. But every year I get hurt and now I can't even control my own life."

Draco brushed the falling snow out of my hair. "Solace... How about we talk about this somewhere warm." I nodded. "Come on."

Draco helped me up. {I could lose her. I can't handle that. This is my fault. I can't protect her. I'm useless. She deserves better, someone else.}

"Please stop thinking that." I said softly, Draco looked away. "I'm fine. I just had a moment."

Draco huffed. "Just had a moment?" He looked back at me with sadness. "Solace... You're not fine."

I held his hand and intertwined our fingers. "Draco... I have wings to catch me. I'm fine."

Draco didn't believe me, and he was right, but I just needed time.

I smiled and removed my hand to tie my blindfold back on. "I trust you Draco." I held his hand again. "Just trust me as well."

Draco nodded. "Just don't leave me like that."

"I won't."

Draco smiled softly and kissed my forehead. "Now come on before you freeze." Draco lifted his other hand and his broom flew into his grasp. "I'll meet you there?" He looked at me.

I nodded. "Race?"

Draco raised a brow. "We already tried racing, brooms are faster."

I handed him his jacket and spread my wings. "No flying on brooms in the castle." I shot into the air and flew towards the school.

(How can a single person make me so happy?... Make me regret even thinking of giving up... Draco makes me vulnerable with him. I truly trust him, Draco's my world, I care for him... I love him.... I just wish we weren't forced to marry.)

I flew into the school then down to the Slytherin common room entrance. "Pureblood." The door opened.

"Wait!" I turned, Draco was jogging over to me. "You win."

I smiled. "I know." Draco rolled his eyes. "Come on." We walked in, up, around, and into his room.

Draco led me to his seating area that had a blazing fire. "Sit. I'll get you clothes." He wrapped a throw blanket over me then walked to his dresser.

(I was looking forward to dancing with him again. Like at the Yull Ball...)"Draco." I moved the blanket and stood up, he stopped and looked at me. "Come here." I walked to him and held out a hand.

Draco's brows furrowed. "Why?" He walked hesitantly to me.

"I didn't wear this dress for nothing." I took out my hand and turned on his radio to the classical station. "I've been stood up once tonight."

Draco grabbed my hand and gently pulled me into his embrace. "I'm sorry about forgetting the party." His other hand came to my waist.

I smiled softly. "I never would have thought you would cheat on me with a cabinet." Draco cupped my cheek, I brushed my nose with him. "It's over. I understood."

Draco placed his lips to mine and his arm on my waist pulled me closer. "I should have payed more attention to you." His thumb brushed against my cheek.

"Draco." I chuckled under my breath. "Out of both of us who is the attention seeker?" Draco looked at me softly. "Now how about that dance?"

Draco smiled and place his hand on my waist and the other in mine. "Do you remember the Yule Ball?" He started to lead through a casual dance.

I smiled. "Yes. You're memories showed how much of a stalker you were."

"I wasn't-." Draco huffed a laugh. "You captivated my mind, you were... magnificent."

I looked in his eyes. "According to you I looked better in the robe."

Draco frowned. "I didn't-."

"I know." I smiled. "To you I was a mudblood you liked. It made you nervous so you put up a front."

Draco slowed down the dance. "Solace. Im truly sorry for how I treated you. I was-."

"Shh." I leaned my head on his chest. "Stop looking to the past." Draco wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his nose in my hair. "You were raised to be a bigoted git. But you grew up nicely."

Draco swayed us slowly while turning slightly. "Thank you for always being there. I didn't deserve a friend like you. And I don't deserve a girlfriend as amazing as you."

I listened to his heartbeat. "When was it?" I looked up at him. "When did you know you liked me like this?"

Draco looked at my eyes but seemed to be in a distant realm. "I've thought about it before... but I don't know.. Maybe when you came to me instead of Potter when we crashed on the Quidditch field... Maybe it was when you stood up to my father for me... When you cared for me like no one else ever did.... I think I love you, not a specific memory or time but you."

My eyes widened slightly. "What did you say?"

Draco's eyes widened slightly when he caught what he said as well then they softened. "I love you, Olivia."

Tears glazed my eyes and I laid my head back on his chest. "I love you for all that you are, all that you have been and all that you will be." A tear slipped down my cheek. "I've never really had experience before in this department... But I think I love you, Draco. I really do."

Draco gently moved my chin so I faced him. "I promise... after everything is over I will make you're happy. I won't make it seem like a curse anymore." He kissed my forehead. "Please stay with me."

"Just promise you won't leave either..." I smiled softly. "You are mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually mine, Draco Malfoy." I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips to his.

(When you like someone, you notice every single detail about them, no matter how small and when they do something for you, you feel so touched, no matter how simple it was...)

(But when you truly love someone...If you truly love someone, to fall for someone so deep, that even you are surprised. You will fall for them, you will adore them without them asking you to do that. The way they talk, the way their voice sounds, the way their eyes shine bright while they laugh will become a necessity. Their manners, actions, appearance, will cause an affection and you will be unable to resist, a feeling with no sense.)

(To live is to be vulnerable... and I am perfectly fine with that.)
