Proposal

The autumn breeze swept through the streets and trees, the once green fresh leaves were now orange and fallen, but that's what Haibara liked about the fall season, the animals and nature were now getting ready for the winter season ahead.

Haibara stood in her night gown, a scarf wrapped around her as she stood in the veranda looking out at the leaves as they fell one by one, a gust of wind made her hair get in her face but she did nothing to move it out of her way.

She closed her eyes, and breathed in the smell of grass and dirt, what she also liked about the fall season is that work didn't start until 3 for everyone, at least most of everyone, Conan was out on a case with detective Megure early in the morning.

She got used to it, him being busy with cases ever since they graduated from college, he had told her that she didn't need to work and that he'd provide for them, after all they are engaged.

She opened her eyes again and decided to step back in the house. She closed the sliding door of the veranda and yawned as she removed her scarf from her shoulders. She stretched and tidied the room she and Shinichi now shared, she also moved into the Kudo Mansion for obvious reasons.

Walking down the stairs, she went to make breakfast for herself, Conan didn't specify the time he'd be back from work so she decided to make extras in case. She put the bread in the toaster, and walked over to the boiler to make tea.

Someone walked through the front door and to the kitchen, tip toeing, slowly they were getting close to Haibara, and before they could get any closer.. "Morning idiot." He heard the woman say as she turned around, hands on her waist.

"A-Ai..Good morning." Conan said faking a smile as he scratched his neck. "How many times do I have to tell you, sneaking up on me like that won't work, I have been trained multiple times by the organization.." Haibara explained for the umpteenth time. "Yes yes you've mentioned." Conan said accepting his defeat at surprising his financée once again.

"Anyway, you came right on time, I'm preparing breakfast." Conan smiled and went to kiss her when the sound of the toaster popped. "The toast is done." She said turning around before he can stop her, he frowned as she got away from her before he can kiss her.

"Make yourself useful and go set up the table." She said as he sighed and nodded, grabbing the plates and walking to the dining table.

Finally the food was on the table and they sat down to eat. Haibara looked out the window every few bites, Conan doing the same but instead of the window, he was looking at her.

Haibara noticed soon after. "It's rude to stare." She said sipping her tea. "Can't I stare at my girl?" He asked putting his hand on his cheek admiring her. She gave him a look but smiled later. "How was work?" She asked him, his hand slipped under the table and his head hit it hard.

"O-Oh yeah work, it was good." He answered quickly stuttering, she glared at him and raised a brow. "What's with you?" She asked wiping her mouth with a tissue. "Huh- me? Nothing." He answered looking away finishing his tea and getting up.

"Oh shoot, I forgot, I had to call Heiji, bye!" He said walking out of the room. "Shinichi!" She called out to him, he walked backwards towards the room again, his face worried. She never used his real name unless she was mad. "Heiji can wait, what is up with your behaviour?" She asked standing up.

"I-I.." he said stuttering, he couldn't speak, he couldn't tell her about-

A phone rang, his phone, he grabbed it and showed Haibara with a nervous smile. She sighed and turned around to clean up the table. He scurried out the room and went to answer it.

"Hattori, you're a life saver." Conan said when he was out of earshot. "Uh..thanks? Why what's up Kudo." Heiji said into the phone. "Ai was pressuring me to talk just now." Conan said as he was cut off. "Dada me want ithecream." He heard a little girl speak on the phone. "Go ask mama, run along now." Heiji answered his daughter as she went to Kazuha.

"Was that little girl your kid?" Conan asked. "Yeah, man raising a kid isn't easy, Kazuha's a pro." Heiji complained as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Wow thanks for the heads up." Conan said sarcastically. "Dude I'm just being honest, but continue with your plan obviously." Heiji said in a tired tone. "So..should I just do it today?" Conan questioned nervously, he had infact not went to solve a case this morning, he went and purchased a specific accessory while face timing Heiji.

"Kudo, is that even a question, do it before it's too late, y'all have been together before me and Kazuha and we already have a kid, get a grip." Heiji said as he shouted at his friend.

"Okay I get it." Conan said sighing. "So, this evening..I'll do it." Conan was nervous but he had to do it, Heiji had a point in what he said.

There were some yelling heard over the phone. "I have to go, tell me how it goes." Heiji says as they say bye to each other. Conan sighs as he hangs up.

"Conan, come here for a moment." He heard Haibara call him. He got up and headed upstairs to their room. He opened the door and spotted Haibara near the window. "The window got stuck I can't close it, and the room is starting to get colder." She said gesturing to the window. "Oh okay." He said walking to her and shutting the window close using some force.

"I was thinking, let's go somewhere today, the weather is good and I'm bored here." Haibara said yawning. "Sure, how about a restaurant near the park?" He asked combing a hand through his hair. "Okay, I'll go take a shower then." She said as she walked over to the closet to lay down her clothes.

"I wanted to shower too, so do you mind if I join you." Conan said in a seductive voice as he wrapped his arms around her from behind. She fake chuckled and elbowed him in the chest. He winced and grabbed his chest tightly letting go of her. "Yes I do mind, go shower in the other washrooms or wait for me to finish you pervert, maybe go with the first option because I'll be taking a long hot bath." She said making her way to the washroom.

He pouts and looks at her as she closes the door behind her and sighs. He grabs his clothes and makes his way to his parents master bathroom.

Kudo Mansion, 4:44 pm..

Conan got out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist, he walked over to the clothes he set up on the master bed and groaned as he forgot to bring his boxers. He walked out of the room and back into his room. The bathroom door was still closed meaning Haibara was still in there. He walked to his closet and rummaged through his clothes.

A door opened behind him revealing Haibara in a bathrobe, she spotted Conan near his closet, his back to her. She stared at his figure, admiring his toned back and broad shoulders, he had a naturally good body due to the dangerous cases he goes to, so he works out every now and then with Heiji.

She had caught herself staring when she cleared her throat, he turned towards her and stared at her figure. She raised a brow making him snap out of his thoughts.

"Oh- I forgot my boxers.." He said chuckling. She just hummed and her mind wandered back to his body, his chest was now in her view range and she couldn't help but stare at his abs and the way his hair dripped onto them.

He noticed her staring and walked towards her. "I decided to take a long bath too, too much stress at work you know." He said in a matter of fact tone. "Oh is that so? Then explain why the news didn't say anything about the case you solved this morning." Haibara said putting him on the spot. He sweatdropped and looked at her nervously.

"I have to go wear some clothes, it's getting cold in here." He said turning to walk but she held his arm before he walked. "Not so fast, you escaped the first time but not the second." She said in a serious tone. He was thinking for a quick excuse when an idea popped into his head.

"Ai, I didn't know you were so needy, you wanna see me half naked hm?" He said teasing her, holding her face with one hand as he looked down at her. Her face turned a shade of pink as she looked away letting go of his arm.

He smirked and walked away, out of the room. She exhaled and stood there contemplating life. She turned to the bed to wear her clothes and dry her hair.

The clock neared 6 as Conan and Haibara began to get ready for their dinner. Conan wore a white button shirt with black pants and a matching black suit jacket.

Haibara wore a white turtle neck and a beige skirt with high socks and Mary Jane shoes. The two grabbed their scarves before heading out of the house.

Walking down the street, they were slowly approaching the restaurant. The cozy restaurant matched the atmosphere of the quiet street with the fallen orange leaves around them along with the half empty trees. The wind was calm but cold, Haibara buried her face in her scarf as another gust of wind passed by them.

Conan held open the door for her as they walked inside the restaurant. The place wasn't busy but wasn't empty as well. They walked to a table in the corner near the window. Sitting down the waitress approached them and asked for their drinks. "Just water for now please." Conan said as she nodded and walked away.

Haibara looked out the window, she spotted a cat playing with the dead leaves, it was a black cat, it reminded her of the black organization but she shook that thought away.

"Ai.." Conan called out to her and she turned to look at him. "What do you wanna eat?" He asked gesturing to the menu in front of her. She looked down at it, she didn't even realize when the waitress came and gave them their waters and menus.

"Oh." Was all she said as she opened the menu reviewing the many dishes. Conan noticed she was distracted so he started coming up with conversations. "The pasta here is good they say, wanna try it?" He asked reading over 10 types of pasta. "Hmm..I guess." She said closing the menu.

"How about fettuccine?" He asked picking one of the pastas he likes. She nods closing the menu she was holding. He calls over to one of the waitresses and orders. The waitress leaves again and comes back with two plates of pasta. Conan starts eating and looks at Haibara, she hadn't touched her food.

"Ai, why won't you eat?" He asks, she didn't respond though, she was looking at the place the cat had stood in, but it was no longer there. "Ai?" Conan calls again and Haibara turns to him. "Sorry what did you say, I was thinking." She said grabbing her fork.

"What has your mind occupied?" Conan asked trying to get her to talk. "Nothing.." She answered taking a bite of her food. They engaged in little conversations and were finished eating, Conan paid, and they walked out of the restaurant.

They walked to a nearby park, admiring the beauty of the trees and setting sun. For Haibara, this was the most calmest thing. She leaned her head towards Conan's. He wrapped an arm around her and put his other hand in his pocket. 'alright..it's now or never.'

Conan opened his mouth to speak. "Ai..you know I love you so damn much, to the point that I would do anything for you, and I..feel like I want to spend my whole life with you, and I plan to do just that, if you.." he trails letting go of her and standing in front of her, he gets down on one knee, getting the red box out of his pockets.

Haibara stood in shock hand over her mouth, tears begin to prick her eyes, she tries to suppress them but they were too strong. "If you..would marry me?" He asked looking up at her. She nodded and got down on her knees and hugged him, he hugged her back tightly. "Yes! I would love to." She said smiling at him, they both got up and looked at each other.

Conan leaned in and kissed her slowly as he wrapped his hands around her waist. He put the ring on her ring finger, it was shining with the setting sun.

This book finally finished, I'm sad to see it go but I'm happy with it, there will be another chapter for the epilogue but that will be it, thanks to everyone who read the whole book I love you all my lovelies.
