Epilogue

It was one of these rare days where no cases came up out of nowhere, therefore Conan had stayed at home with his family.

"Good job Shoyo, now pass the ball to me." Conan calls to the little boy in the backyard, they were playing soccer together in their new house.

Conan and Haibara had moved out of the Kudo mansion when they got married, now they are living in another big house in Tokyo.

"Okay dad!" The little boy shouts as he kicks the ball to his father, they play for a little while until someone walks in the backyard.

"Dinner is almost ready, get in and wash up you two." Haibara yells at the two boys. "Mom..me wanna play with daddy!" A little girl yells from beneath Haibara's feet. Haibara crouches down and picks her daughter up, she was about 2 years old only.

"Maybe after dinner, but do you really wanna get dirty and stinky like those two troublemakers?" Haibara says faking a frown. The girl thinks for a bit sticking her tongue out a little. She then slowly shakes her head, Haibara then replaces her frown with a smile as she kisses the girl's cheeks.

"Ow!" A yelp was heard from Shoyo, Haibara looks over to her son and sees him on the floor, with Conan inspecting his knee, a min later, they are seen laughing.

Conan helps him up as they walk towards the door to the house, seeing Haibara standing there with the little girl in her arms.

"Mom I fell!" Shoyo says smiling like he accomplished something. "I saw." She says before glaring at her husband. "But dad told me that I'm getting good at soccer and that this proves my strength!" He says pointing at his knee.

"Are you okay though, does it hurt?" Haibara asks looking at it. "A little.." Shoyo says looking up at his dad as Conan nervously looks at Haibara. She sighs, thinking it'd be better if she didn't scold her husband this time. "Here, take Akemi and sit at the dining table, I'll go bandage his wound so that it doesn't get infected." She says handing the girl to her husband.

The little girl squeals as her father takes her, he kisses her cheek at her cute reaction. Haibara then kneels down and picks Shoyo up, then turning around and walking to a cupboard, inside of it is a medkit.

"Come on, let's go Akemi." He says before walking to the dining table as Akemi nods in his arms and clutches his shirt. She always seemed to like her father more, when she was only a few months old, she would be crying nonstop at night and would only calm down when her dad held her.

On the other hand, Shoyo didn't seem to like any better than the other, he loved both his parents, Akemi did too but she took a liking to her father.

Haibara walked with Shoyo back to the dining table and helped Shoyo sit down. "Alright, let's dig in." Conan said as they all thanked for the food and began eating.

"Are you excited to be back for school Sho?" Conan asked his son. "Yea! I miss my friends, also..when will I...get to see Sakura-chan again.?" Shoyo asked his father looking down at his plate. "Uncle Heiji's daughter? Why, do you miss her?" Conan asked smirking at the kid.

(Please let's just imagine that Heiji's daughter that I mentioned in the previous chapter is the same age as Shoyo.)

Shoyo's cheeks were now tinted with a pink blush as he nodded. Haibara smiled at his reaction then looked over to her husband seeing him smirking down at the kid. "I'll call him and see if he's busy this week." Conan said as the boy perked up and continued eating his food.

A giggle was heard from the little girl as both her parents and her brother looked at her confusingly. "What's so funny Akemi?" Haibara asked her, the girl looked up at her parents and continued giggling. "Big brother Sho likes Saku-chan!" The girl says and continues squealing. Shoyo's cheeks are now red as he covered his face. "No! She's lying!" Shoyo says yelling.

Conan laughs as Haibara chuckles to herself, both admiring their kids as they yell at each other while giggling.

"What's up Kudo!" Heiji says welcoming him in along with his family. "Dad..why does uncle Heiji always call you Kudo?" Shoyo asks walking in. "Uh..it's like a nickname, you know how I call you Sho, he calls me Kudo." Conan quickly explains as Shoyo seems to believe him.

"Sho-kun!" A yell was heard as a little girl shows up running to hug Shoyo. "A-Ah hi Sakura-chan.." Shoyo mumbles as Sakura hugs him to death. Kazuha laughs at the sight and greets the adults. "Hey Haibara, Conan, long time no see." She says bowing.

"Kazuha you don't have to be so formal- ow!" Kazuha hits her husband on the head. "Shut up Heiji! At least try to behave well." Kazuha yells at him. Conan and Haibara stand there watching as the two bicker and then realizing the two kids had disappeared, probably in the play room.

"Mama, can I go play with Saku-chan with big brother?" Akemi asks her mom as they all sit down in the living room.

"Okay go ahead." She lets her daughter go as she runs to another room. An hour passes while all of them catch up with each other then the 3 kids walk into the living room and look at their parents.

"What's wrong Sakura?" Kazuha asks her daughter. "We have a dance to show you." Sakura says as she pulls Shoyo next to her. "Oh? Would you show us what you made?" Conan says playing along.

"Yay!" Sakura exclaims as they all get into place. "Are you with them Akemi?" Haibara asks as her daughter nods. They all begin dancing and showing their moves and when they're done, Sakura goes to kiss Shoyo's cheeks, him doing the same later, with pink tinted cheeks.

Conan chuckles at that as Heiji forrows his brows. "Hey kid, let go of my daughter's hand." Heiji says as the poor boy quickly steps away from her. Conan chuckles and pats Heiji on the shoulder.

"They're kids let them be." Conan says as Heiji glares at his friend. "Dad! Don't embarrass me." The girl says pouting at Heiji. He lets out a sigh and looks at Shoyo. "You were a troublemaker when you were young, no doubt your son is." Heiji says and Akemi steps up.

"Actually it seems Akemi would take that roll, Shoyo is kind of like Ai." Conan says, Akemi chuckles and suddenly lets out a yell and an angry face. "Fear me!" She says and Heiji looks at the girl as a chill runs down his spine.

"Yeah you're probably right.." he says making the girl let out another giggle.

"No I don't want to sleep I'm playing a videogame!" Shoyo screams at his mother and pouts. Akemi looks over at her brother and sees Haibara glaring at him. She runs with her little legs in front of him and faces her mother. "Mama, leave big brother alone, why are you meanie." Akemi says whining.

"What do you mean meani- you know what it's 11 pm, either you listen to me and go to sleep or I'll call your father." Conan was at work working late again, so these past few days have been hectic for Haibara as she tried to deal with the stubborn kids.

"We know you can't call dad he's at work." Shoyo says in a smug smile. Haibara bites on her lips, knowing he was right, she lets out a frustrated sigh. 'why is it so hard raising kids, I'm tired.' she thought as tears prick her eyes but she masks her face as usual with ease.

"I'm going to bed, you can stay up all you want." She finally says and walks out of the room. Shoyo and Akemi just stand there then continue what they were doing.

Later that night, Conan comes home at 12 am, he opens the door slowly as to not wake up anyone, the lights are off all around the house so he uses the source of the moonlight shining through the windows.

He kicks off his shoes exhausted and just wants to lay down with his wife and cuddle her. He walks up the stairs and checks on Shoyo first, he opens the door of his room and looks at the boy sleeping there.

He walks to his room and opens it, finding Akemi sleeping in her crib but he doesn't find Haibara. He squints his eyes to see if it's just the dark room's fault that he can't see her sleeping but when he walks to the bed and doesn't find her he furrows his brows.

Suddenly the bathroom door opens and a stumbling Haibara steps out of it. She notices him almost immediately and goes to hug him, she clinges on him tightly as she burries her head in his chest, breathing in his scent that makes her calm down everytime without fail.

Conan is taken aback by the sudden affection but hugs her back wrapping his arms around her shoulders. He feels her body shaking and he lets go of her body for a minute to look at her face.

Haibara had slight tears coming out from her eyes, Conan's expression turns into a worried one as he cups her face. "What's wrong Ai?" He whispers to her so he doesn't wake Akemi up. She looks down and wipes her tears but more come out before she can stop them.

"This is so stupid." She says, her voice strained, he makes her look up at him by tilting her chin up. "What is?" He asks. "I just..fück I-I don't...know what to do, I don't even know if I'm doing my job as a mother." She says as a tear falls down her cheek. Conan wipes it away with his thumb as he continues to cup her face.

"I feel like I'm not a good mother and these kids..I can't understand how people do it, I'm tired." She explains and heaves out a sigh. He leans their foreheads together and looks at her with a comforting look. "Don't say that ever again, you're a wonderful mother and you're doing amazing, don't let those thought get to you." Conan says assuring her and making her relax a bit.

"They're kids, they're bound to be troublemakers and not listen to us, it's not you, you're not doing anything wrong, I'll talk to them in the morning okay?" He says as he kisses her forehead, she relaxes into his touch and nods.

After Conan has changed into a pair of comfy sweatpants, he doesn't bother to put a shirt on and lays down next to Haibara. He pulls her waist towards him and she rests her head near his shoulder facing him. He caresses her back until they both fall asleep.

The next morning, Haibara wakes up to the smell of pancakes and waffles, she stretches and gets out of bed, she walks to the washroom and looks at her choice of clothes, she had wore shorts with an oversized shirt that were completely different in looks.

She sighs and steps into the shower talking off her clothes, she takes a quick shower and puts on a pair of jean shorts and a hoodie.

She walks downstairs and into the kitchen, she finds the 3 roaming around the kitchen, well except for the little girl, she was sitting on the island counter pouring syrup on some pancakes, she almost spills some off the plate when Haibara catches it from her hands.

Akemi looks at her empty hand thinking the syrup bottle had suddenly disappeared but spots her mother standing beside her. "Mama!" She squeals as both the heads of the boys turn to greet the woman now walking towards them.

"Good morning mom!" Shoyo says grabbing her hand and kisses the back of it. She looks at him slightly surprised then turns to her husband. "Good morning sleepy head, we made pancakes." Conan says smiling at her. "And waffles!" Akemi exclaims from behind them. "Where's all this coming from?" Haibara asks raising a brow.

"I told you I'd talk to them didn't I?" Conan says in a low voice so only she can hear.

A few hours earlier, Conan was in front of the two, in the living room, he had his arms crossed and looked at them both with an angry look.

They were sat down on the couch head low. "Why are you treating your mother like this?" He says in a low voice and an alarming tone. Both the kids stayed quiet. "She's doing everything she can to please you both, she puts the food on the table, she cleans your rooms, she buys you anything you want, you know that videogame you play with Shoyo? I didn't want to buy that at first but she insisted and convinced me because all she wants is to make you two happy." Conan says, a stern look on his face.

"We're sorry." The kids both say together as soft tears roll down their cheeks. "Don't tell me that, tell her, now if you want her to be happy, how about we make her some breakfast for a change." Conan says, his soft voice returning as he looks at the two kids, they both look up and nod.

"Dad I'm done with the waffles!" Shoyo says as Conan walks over to him and grab the plates, he sets them down on the island counter and brings a cup of coffee setting it next to Haibara's plate.

She sits down in her designated seat and looks over at the table full of waffles, pancakes, chocolate syrup, chopped up bananas and strawberries, and lastly, small pieces of butter.

"All this for me?" She says sarcastically as Conan sits down beside her. He chuckles and waits for her to take a bite. She grabs a small piece of butter and drizzles almost too little syrup and cuts a piece to bite. Her kids mouths fall in gasps as they watch their mother eat that.

"M-Mom..where's your chocolate drizzled pancake along with all kinds of heart shaped fruits that you were supposed to add...that I worked for." Shoyo says in a sad-surprised tone, both kids couldn't believe their mother was going to leave the bestest part about the pancakes untouched.

Conan let's out a laugh as Haibara sits there confused on how to explain to her kid that she doesn't like any type of sweet things.

"Your mother is not the kind who likes sweet stuff." Conan says after he finishes laughing, the reaction that comes out of the little girl is priceless. She looks at her mother, a shocked look on her face, probably asking in her mind what kind of human being doesn't like chocolate and cut up fruits that look like hearts.

Both Conan and Haibara laugh at the little girl's reaction and they all begin to dig in the food, talking and laughing.

Haibara turned to Conan and smiled at him. "Thank you..really this is the most comforting thing I can ask for." She says and he smiles at her, she leanes in and claims his lips with hers in a slow kiss.

They can both hear the kids obvious sounds of disgust. "Dad, mom! Not here!" Shoyo says waving his hands in the air. They both pull apart from the kiss and look at the kids and laugh. "Mama we have something to tell you.." Akemi says.

"Hm what is it?" Haibara asks looking at both of them with a raised brow. "We are really sorry for being bad kids." They both say as Haibara stares in awe. "It's okay, you don't have to apologize." She says smiling at them.

Akemi does grabby gestures with her hands and Haibara picks her up, setting her in her lap as the girl hugs her mom. Shoyo joins in later and Conan admires his family with a happy smile thinking that he must've won the lottery.
