Kaji's POV
Walking through this familiar town sure was nostalgic.
And by nostalgic I mean I'm shaking with a mix of anger and anxiety. Partly because no one is here and I'm afraid that they will all jump out at me, as if they knew I was coming, and the other part because of the repressed memories that are floating back to the top.
So, honestly, I'm hating Lady Tsunade for putting me in this position.
Even though there was no way she could've known, she still sent me here without having to hear my explanation, forcing me to deal with consequences I don't even deserve because of her ignorance.
"Kaji, are you ok?" Kakashi asks, seeming much closer than her was before, surprising me.
My eyes widen and I scramble back, falling on my butt. He sends me a questioning look, holding his hand out for me to take. I ignore it and get up by myself, scratching the back of my head.
"Oh, yeah! Sorry, I was just thinking about why no one was in the town. Guess I got a little lost in my head..." I say, ending it with a convincing chuckle. Kakashi buys my lie and shrugs his shoulders, walking back to his previous position.
I release a relieved sigh as soon as he is out of ear reach, thankful I could come up with a convincing lie in such a short amount of time.
Though it wasn't all a lie. I was slightly worried, and anxious, as to why there weren't any tourists or towns folk here. Even though I usually rushed through the streets so I wouldn't get beaten, I bumped into plenty of people when I did so.
The main drag was packed.
And I knew that from experience.
"Why aren't there any people here? I've seen public bathrooms more crowded than this..." The circus announcer says quietly. A few people behind him nod, and I tune them out.
"Welcome to The Land of the Moon! Home to white sand beaches and tropical restaurants, you aren't missing out! Come to Shark Shack for the best burgers in the whole island, along with their famous Shark Smoothie!" A woman's voice sounds from a billboard, different images of food and the beach flashing across the screen.
My eye started to twitch.
'This is gonna be a long trip.'
(Time Skip)
Finally, we made it to the castle. The all too familiar sound of rushing water from the huge circular fountain in the center of the driveway, and the sound of the horses feet coming to a stop floats into all of our ears. The circus people weren't with us right now, as we told them to walk around town to find customers.
Basically, we told them to get lost. Only in a nicer way.
As soon as the carriage comes to a complete stop, Michiru quickly squeezes himself out of his gold and white carriage, looking up to the balcony.
Shabadaba stood on the balcony, casting his creepy eagle eyes over all of us.
Let me give you the run down on Shabadaba.
He is a money grubbing, ass wipe, know-it-all, scumbag who would do anything and everything to prevent the king from giving me the necessary money to live.
Basically, he is a money obsessed jerk.
"Oh Shabadaba! Nice to see you!" Michiru yells up to the balcony, smiling childishly and waving up to him. Hikaru doesn't say anything but observes from his place in the carriage, glancing around suspiciously.
"Welcome back, Michiru." Shabadaba says, his thin cracked lips turning up in a slight smirk.
Michiru glances around before a confused look comes on his face, and he glances back up at Shabadaba. "Shabadaba, where is Father?"
Shabadaba doesn't say anything, but raises his head a little and widens his smirk. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, the king... Is dead!" He yells down towards us, making Michiru and Hikaru gasp.
"Guards! Kill the prince!" Shabadaba suddenly yells, making me sigh in annoyance. Hundreds of guards pour out of the castle, spears and swords in their metal covered hands. Many of them surround the prince and Hikaru, Naruto and Sakura, Lee, me, and Kakashi.
"What are you waiting for?! Kill them!" Shabadaba yells, making the guards snap back to reality. They all charge at me and I cross my arms over my chest. I jump up at the last second, jumping on one of the guards head. He falls to the floor and all the other guards crash against each other or trip over the man I just hopped on. I use the momentum I gathered from jumping into the air and jump in front of the prince and his son, powering chakra into my leg. I swiftly kick all of the on coming guards back, creating a domino effect and taking all the other guards down with them.
"Prince Michiru! Take your son and get back in the carriage!" Kakashi yells from a ways away, using Taijutsu against the guards that came after him.
Michiru and Hikaru listen to him, immediately rushing back into the carriage. However guards rush at me, and not wanting to kill the poor fools, I engage them in combat. I summon the katana that Kisame gave me, the one I never got the chance to use in the Chunin Exams, and started blocking their swords with mine. However, guards rushed towards the carriage, and behind me. I didn't have enough time to stop the guard that thrust his spear through the window, almost hitting the prince. I narrow my eyes at him and power chakra into my fist, nailing him right in the ribs. Though because of the metal armor surrounding him, it was me who was dealt the most damage. My hand throbbed and begged for ice to put on it, but I ignored it.
Soon after my punch, silence falls over all of us and all I hear is the scraping of a sword against another sword.
"Captain Korega!" I hear a random guard yell, making me turn my head in alarm.
A man is back to back with Kakashi, seemingly protecting him from an onslaught of swords.
"What are you all doing? We're brothers in arms! We shouldn't be fighting!" Korega says, putting his sword down and trying to convince all the other guards.
"What are you all stopping for?!" Shabadaba yells from the balcony, making everyone remember he was still there. "He's a traitor! Kill him!"
"But.." All the guards say doubtfully, not wanting to hurt their own captain.
"He's wrong! Shabadaba is the real traitor! He k-" Korega says, but being cut off by one of the guards who rushes at him, sword in hand.
Kakashi and Korega go back to back again, protecting each other from the barrage of soldiers sent to kill them.
"And who are you?" Korega asks Kakashi, blocking a sword.
"I'm Kakashi Hatake. We're Leaf Ninja sent to escort the prince and his son back here." Kakashi says, kicking another soldier back.
"That's good. I have something to show you soon." Korega says.
"Can you drive that coach out of here?" Kakashi asks, urgency in his tone. Without even responding, Korega rushes towards the coach and hops on the front. He whips the horses, making them run the opposite direction of the castle. Some soldiers try to stop Korega, but he uses his sword to protect the horses and ward the Knights off.
I, watching all of this with a bored face, start to slowly walk towards the gate that we entered through. I lazily start making hand signs and watch as Naruto, Sakura, and Lee jump out behind me. Kakashi jumps near me and starts making hand signs too, and we both slam out hands on the ground, making a heap of earth block the guards from getting us.
I didn't use my Teishi-tai because whenever I activate it, even if I don't use the Sharingan, the design appears. And I can't have anyone seeing that.
I walk behind Kakashi, who is running to catch up with the carriage. I sigh heavily and run towards the carriage, jumping on the top and laying down. My head bumps up and down, hitting the ceiling of the carriage as it bumps into rocks or goes over lumps of dirt.
(time skip)
Captain Korega led us in the forest, stopping us at a cave that was attached to a huge mountain.
"We, the Knights that were lucky enough to hear Shabadaba rant his evil plans, weren't strong enough to protect the King. Look." Korega says, making a few guards, the ones that weren't stupid, move over.
Michiru gasps and Hikaru mirrors him, both of the rushing to the King, who lay covered by a blanket on some stone. Michiru starts to cry and Hikaru sobs into the blanket, clutching his bow the the other hand.
"You idiots. He isn't dead." I say bluntly, catching everyone's attention.
Korega widens his eyes at me and marches up to me, pressing a sword at my neck.
"Mind repeating that for me, little girl?" He says threateningly, and I lazily raise my eyebrow.
"You. Idiots." I say slowly, looking at him as if he were a five year old and couldn't understand me. "The. Stupid. King. Isn't. Dead." I tell them, making him glare at me when I called the King stupid, but dropping his sword when he heard the King wasn't dead.
I scoff, looking at Sakura. She nods her head at me, going over to the King, preparing to heal him. She removes the blanket and gasps, revealing a stone body. All but his head and a part of his left shoulder was stone. My eyes widen in terror, and I rush out of the cave, throwing up my breakfast.
'No, no, no. Whoever did this can't have that, can they?!' I question frantically in my head, my eyes widening again, a horror stricken look running across my face.
"Kaji? Are you ok?" Kakashi asks me, running over to me and 'soothingly' rubbing my back.
I look away from him and finally use my Teishi-Tai, making his arm fall limp against his side. I quickly make the design disappear and scramble to get up.
"Uh, um.. I, I u-uh need to, um, go for a.. Go for a walk." I manage to stutter out, rushing off into the woods.
"Wait!" I hear Kakashi yell behind me, but his chakra signature soon fades from my senses and I keep running.
'Child. Calm down.' Minoru says in my head.
'But what if whoever did that to the king comes for us with that thing on?! I'll be screwed!' I yell back in my head, panicking.
'Child-' Minoru starts, but is cut off by me.
'I mean, I could take on one of the Legendary Sannin! I mean, I'd die, but I'd still kill them along with me!' I yell in my head. 'But I am no match for that thing! If it ever stares at me or touches me, I'm dead meat! I mea-'
'KID!' Minoru roars in my head, making me lose my footing and trip on the branch I was about to land on. I tumble to the ground and dirt gets shoved in my face as I connect with the mossy ground, tumbling across the floor. I finally stop rolling because I crash into a huge boulder, and I take deep breaths to get oxygen into my system. I stare at the ground, a huge dent in it from my crashing, miss and grass sticking up in abnormal positions. I hear animals scramble through bushes and the tree leaves rustling, birds flying out as fast as they can. An overwhelming blanket of anxiety covers me and I feel myself start to lose consciousness, hearing a few words from Minoru.
'You don't even know if you'll have to see it, calm down. I mean, what's the worst it could do? It is only a glove.'
