Chapter 40 Loki's pov
17:35, 19 January 2022I groan as I wake up, feeling groggy at best. I look around to find I'm in my bedroom at the castle, with a slightly amused Sargent staring at me from the foot of my bed.
"What happened? Why are you here? Where's the kitten if you're in here with me? What's going on Bucky?" I ask sitting up quickly. I look down to notice my clothes are disgusting and ripped. With a shimmer of green a change into a clean tunic and pants before looking back to him, waiting for answers.
"Well, she called you a dumbass, probably still pissed at you, but we came through the Bifrost. Teleported to you after the gatekeeper told us where you guys were, she knocked all of them unconcious, called you a motherfucker but she healed both you and thunder. We have the leader and only had one death due to us, he came up behind the kitten. We teleported back here, where your mother checked you over before the 3 of them left and told me to bring you here." He says, still amused.
"If she healed me why do I ache so much?" I ask as I rub a hand over my face.
"Punishment. She's pissed you got hurt." Bucky says with a laugh. I glare at him before something clicks in my brain.
"She's here?" I ask, shocked. He gives me a look with a raised eyebrow before gesturing to himself.
"Well I sure as hell didn't come here alone, Green." He says, like it's obvious.
"Yes I can understand that but she really shouldn't be here. Odin could wake at any time and it's not safe for her." I say as I stand, going to check that he's still in odinsleep. Bucky walks beside me as we make our way to the room.
"Your mother asked for her help, which is where she is currently." He says. I nod and open the door, seeing Odin still laying in the bed, and sigh in relief. I close the door again and begin to head down a different hallway when Bucky grabs my arm.
"Frigga knows, or at least about you." He whispers in my ear, looking around. He doesn't trust this place, with good reason. I look at him for a moment before I nod my head.
"She won't hurt the darling girl. That much I can assure you." I say, meeting his gaze. He releases my arms and breathes out deeply, like he's been worried about exactly that happening.
"My mother is a very kind soul. She would never do something like that, especially to someone I care about. She also knows the kitten is very powerful." I say as I turn in the direction of the war room.
"I'm just saying, the last time she was here she was hurt. I only stayed with you because Thor went with them." The Sergeant says, once again walking beside me. He chuckles a moment later.
"I warned you about being on the receiving end of her warth Green. Don't cry to me about it." Bucky says, grinning at me. I raise an eyebrow at him before thinking more about it and swallowing hard.
'Oh no, what have I done?' I think as we stop outside the room, seeing Mae in a golden dress and crown from Halloween, stunning the group of obnoxious men into silence.
Mae's pov
The noblemen keep talking as I circle the table, not listening to them but studying the things on it and the walls. One by one, they all stop talking and stare at me, along with the Queen and Thor. I take notice of the map on the wall, with pins sticking out of it.
"Are these the villages that have been attacked so far? Are there any more?" I ask, casting a look at Frigga.
"They are all there, except for the one the Princes were attacked in today." She answers, making all the nobles gasp at my casual address of the Allmother. I nod and look at the map again before picking up a pin, ignoring the idiotic men in the room.
"Let me guess, it's this one right here." I say as I put the pin in the center village, completing the semi circle. I look back once more, getting a nod in reply. I study the map for a minute, noting that all of the villages are along the bottom of the wayward side of a mountain.
I start to pace again as a slight warm breeze comes in through one of the windows at the far end of the room. I walked over to it, seeing it cracked open a little.
"What time of year is it here?" I ask as I pull the window open, breathing in the fresh air. I pull my head back in just as Thor starts to answer.
"It's mid-spring on Asgard Lady Luci." He says, throwing a threatening glare at the men who start to make noises of complaint. I nod and look once more out the window, loving how pretty this realm is.
"I see." Was my response as I pull back into the room once again. I pace around the room one more time before stopping at the end of the table across from the queen, where I assume Odin sits. I smirk at the chair before shaking my head. I turn back to the room with a soft smile.
"I know why." I say to the queen who looks impressed, while the nobles do start protesting that I'm simply a stupid child who couldn't possible know anything. I give Thor a look and shake my head, telling him to not attack. They finally shut up again, noticing that I'm still smiling sweetly at them.
"It's almost time for their birthing season. They need the supplies to get ready, which is also why only the men are out. They don't mean any harm but take threats very seriously, which is why they attacked when they saw the princes." I say before turning to the map again.
"They have a settlement somewhere on the good side of this mountain, I would bet on a cave system.ย They don't want to hurt anyone, they are just scared fathers trying to provide for their wives and soon to be children." I continue, turning back to face the table.
"My advice- help them. Send supplies, a few healers, and some warriors. These attacks will stop then and there will be no more unrest in the villages." I finish, leaning slightly against the table behind me.
"Very well done darling. We came to the same conclusion and it only took you an hour of being on the planet." A voice says from beside me with a chuckle. I stand straight before rushing to it, already knowing who it belonged to. I wrap my arms around Loki's waist as he chuckles again, resting his arms on my shoulders, and places a kiss on my forehead.
The nobles all gasp again, not used to seeing this loving side of the prince, especially to an unknown woman. Loki smirks at them, enjoying their surprise before turning very serious.
"You may leave, and if I ever hear such foul words from your mouths about my Lady, I will personally take your tongues." He says, growling at the end along with Bucky. They all stand quickly, wanting away from the dark prince.
"Brother, can you have the buffoons bring the leader in? We need to speak with him to make arrangements." Loki says, making Thor laugh loudly. He stands and nods before leaving the room. I let go of Loki's waist, making him look down at me in question, before grabbing his ear and bringing his face level with mine.
"You foolish moron. I told you NOT to get hurt. So what do you do? Get a huge sword slash along your spine. Stupid bitch, I should punish you." I growl in his face. A laugh rings out from behind me while Bucky chuckles, knowing my speech by now.
"You're absolutely right darling, but can we talk about this later, and not in front of my mother please?" He asks with a smile.
"Oh don't stop on my account. Knock some sense into the boy Mae." Frigga says with a laugh. I release Loki's ear, letting him stand fully, as I turn to smile at Frigga.
"Mother! You would let her harm me? Your innocent son?" Loki asks with a gasp. We all laugh, knowing Loki is anything but innocent. He grins before leaning down once more, kissing my temple. I grab his cheek for a second.
"We will discuss this later. Count on that Horns." I whisper with a smirk as his face turns light pink. I giggle at him and kiss his cheek, letting go.
