Chapter 36 Mae's pov

17:11, 19 January 2022

"May we have this dance?" They all 3 ask at the same time as they bow. I giggle at their ridiculousness and put my hand out to them. They all grab it and start pulling me away as I make my drink follow Loki, knowing it will be better this way. We dance for a couple songs, laughing and having a good time, before we head back to the group.

"Hey Stark, did you have time to make me new limiters yet?" I ask the genius on arrival. He walks behind the bar and grabs 4 rings from under the counter, before handing them to me with a smile. I flash them on and feel my form settle more and I sigh, feeling slightly better about being down here with guests.

I smile at Tony as Thor and Loki walk up, my drink floating behind him. Loki comes over and kisses my temple.

"Alright darling, you've had the moment. Give them back now please." He whispers in my ear, brushing it slightly with his nose. I smile as I feel his hand slip into mine. I tap the back of it once, removing the seal on his magic, as he kisses my temple again. It was that moment that Stark decided to open his mouth.

"Why are you dressed like Reindeer Games? This is gold, a great joke I must say. Can we get a picture for the fridge?" Tony finishes, just as a knife flies past his head and into the wall behind me. All eyes snap to me as I stand in front of Thor and Loki, Cerberus and Bucky stepping quickly up beside them both.

"I have warned you repeatedly, Stark, to watch your fucking mouth." I say as I softly take a step towards him.

"You'll learn one way or another." I say quietly, now standing in front of him fully.

"What do you think about a goat?" I call over my shoulder, not moving my eyes from Tony. I get a mixed reply from the group from 'do it' to 'no' and I face forward once more. Tony starts to shake slightly as I lean into him, a pair of hands grabbing my one arm but not pulling.

"I know these are your defense mechanisms to help you, but you must think of how you might hurt those around you. If you ever want to talk, to learn better ways to cope, and to sleep without nightmares, come see me and I will help you Tony. Think about it." I whisper to him just as 2 sets of hands pull me away.

I smile as Bucky and Loki step in front of me, giving me a look. I catch Stark's eye from over their shoulder, who nods once at me, almost looking relieved. I look back to the 2 in front of me and giggle before turning to Thor.

"May I have this dance, good sir?" I ask him with a grin and a curtsey, and extend my hand to him. He laughs as the other 2 gasp before taking my hand and leading me to the dance floor.

"Thank you Luci, for defending my brother, for helping me surprise him tonight, and for helping him heal. You are good for him, and I'm so thankful for seeing him truly happy once again." Thor says as 'it's been a long, long time' starts to play. We sway to the music for a moment before I look up to him.

"I'm glad you approve of us. It might seem small to you but it matters a great deal to him." I say softly.

"Of course I do. I might not be proficient in magic but I know better than to try to deny fate." He says with a smile. I nod back as he spins me, my dress flaring.

"Having said that, I hope you forgive me for the jest I'm about to do." He says with a grin, a glint in his eye. I raise an eyebrow at him but smirk and nod nonetheless.

Thor turns us away from the team while we dance, the song almost over now. We dance this way for another moment before he wraps his arms around me and dips me low. He leans down into me with a chuckle at my surprised face and kisses my check, holding us there.

The few people around us gasp and awe, catching more people's attention. As more people turn to look at us I feel Loki's magic flare, along with a red hot blaze of protectiveness surge through me, from a certain super soldier no doubt. I hear the half metal man and the god both take steps forward at the same time, probably trying to figure out the right course of action to get the oaf away from me.

Thor pulls us up to the applauds of the crowd. My face is blood red as I let go of the laughing god, and look through the people to try to find the 2 I need to soothe. They appear at my sides as if my thoughts summoned them to me, and grab an arm each. I let them lead me off to a not as populated area before I explained he didn't kiss me and that it was all in good fun. They shared a look for a long time as I go to get my drink from beside Cerberus.

Loki's pov

'She didn't seem to enjoy your brother's joke, Green.' Bucky says menteally, watching Mae walk away.

'No, she didn't. I should go have a word with him, however there are many people here.' I say back as I lean against the wall behind us.

'You're right. And I do suppose it was more against us then her. I don't think she's too upset, but we should do something for her.' He replies after a moment with a sigh.

'Did you have something in mind Sargeant?' I ask, intrigued by the possibilities of what we could do.

'Not yet, but I want it to be something just for her. She needs someone to put her first for once.' He says, staring at the way she walked across the room. I observed her for a moment as well, wondering what we could do for the darling girl.

'What about something for her, and something for us that is still about her?' I ask, keeping my eyes on her hips. He shots me a questioning look, unsure what I was meaning.

'I mean, a little magic and something she wants.' I say after a moment, meeting his eyes.

'Come on Green, a little more information please.' He huffs, crossing his arms.

'She's not used to sexual activities that put her first, or that don't hurt her for that matter.' I say, raising my eyebrow with a grin. He takes a moment to think about what I said before smiling at me.

'You can do that?' He asks standing straight now, looking over at where Mae is just getting to the bar. My hands glow green before I put them behind my back, him copying my actions with the same green shimmer on his own hands.

'I can do a lot of things.' Was my reply as we both chuckle.
