Chapter 14 Mae's pov

08:51, 19 January 2022

The next day I woke up and got ready for the day, jeans and a tank top with a hoodie along with a note that just said '~Loki' on it appearing on my sink after my shower.

I walk out of my room and almost scream in surprise.

Loki was sitting on the couch in my living room reading a book.

"What's going on?" I ask, walking to stand in front of him with my hand on my hip.

"Stark's redoing the floor Bucky and I stay on, so they put us here?" He says more like a question without looking up from his book. I laugh and raise my eyebrows at him.

"They don't want me on the floor alone anymore." I say rather than ask, as I walk to the elevator and pull my hood up.

"That as well, sweetling." He says reluctantly, glaring at the book now.

"I'm sure. Now I have 2 guard dogs." I say getting on and heading to the common floor for breakfast, not listening to his remarks about not being a dog.

I make my way into the kitchen to search for some food, finding pop tarts. I grabbed a packet for myself along with my cup of iced coffee that was shimmering green from beside the fridge before walking into the dinner room, taking the box with me.

I toss the box to thunderhead as I sit down at the table and laugh as he starts devouring them. I stop mid-laugh and shift in my seat; something was wrong. The team starts staring at me as I keep twitching, trying to figure it out. I pushed my sleeve up absentmindedly, chewing on my thumb nail, just as Stark walked in making the attention shift to him.

"Hey shedevil, your clothes came. Do you want them on your floor?" He asks, looking at the tablet in his hand.

"Yeah, sure." I say not really listening. He looks up slightly worried because of my tone and distracted answer.

"Hey, kid, aren't those supposed to be glowing?" He asks, pointing to my limiter. I snap my eyes down to my wrist. To see the limiters completely clear in the middle, along with the scar running around my wrist and burn mark from my thumb to the inside of my elbow.

"Oh fuck!" I say jumping up, panicking, and push my sleeve down. I run to the door with the stairs and leave as quickly as possible. I don't turn around to see the group looking worried as Wanda, Pietro, Bucky and Loki get up and walk to the elevator.

I made it down to my floor, making sure my hood was still up to cover my face, and started pacing. A few minutes later I hear the elevator ding. I panic more and grab the closest thing to me as a weapon, a lamp.

The 4 walk in to see me in a fight stance with the lamp in hand. They all put their hands up and take a step back, except for Bucky.

"Babydoll, we just want to talk. It's that time, isn't it? It's okay, we aren't going to hurt you. Put the lamp down." He says walking slowly up to me. I make no move to disarm myself as I stare, teary eyed, at his figure closing in on me. I let out a shaky breath as he reached me.

He pulls me into his chest as he takes the lamp from me, setting it back down, and picking me up. I cling onto him as I bury my head into his neck, sobbing and shaking. He sits down on the chair beside us and motions for the others to sit on the couch. We sit there for a while as I cry.

I finally calm down to just hiccups and pull back from Bucky a bit. I wipe my face with my sleeve as I readjust my hood. I turn slightly to see the other three, all looking at me worried. I sniffle a few times and start to explain to them what's going on.

"3-4 times a year...I lose my powers. No one really knows why...they just disappear." I say picking at my hands, waiting for them to do something, hurt me in some way.

"Oh darling, it's okay. No one here is going to hurt you or make fun of you. You don't need to be afraid." Loki says softly, making the others nod in agreement. I look at all of them to see if this is some kind of trick, but all I get are loving looks. I launch myself at him and hug him tightly.

"Thank you...thank you..." I whisper to him as he rubs my back.

"Now, why don't you put your hood down and we can look through all your new clothes before we go talk to the others?" He says pulling back slightly, reaching for my hood.

"No!" I scream and back up. Bucky growls at Loki for upsetting me only for Loki to shoot him a look.

"Why not, sweetling? It's okay." He says pulling me back into him. I whimper and whisper to him.

"My scars..." I say, trying to find the words to explain the many marks on my skin.

"Oh darling, don't worry. I'll put your illusion back up. Hold on one second." He whispers back before I feel his magic wash over me.

"There you go love, same as usual." He says before pulling my hood a bit so only he could see my face. He nods as a mirror appears in front of me, showing me he is in fact holding the illusion. I pull back and remove my hood.

"Okay, now let's see what you and Friday were up to Babydoll." Bucky says as 5 large boxes appear around the coffee table with a flash of green.

We start sorting through all of the clothes, Loki flashing them into my closet as we go. Friday tells me she's ordered all the stuff for my room in the middle of it. I thank her and move on to the next box, which is undergarments. Pietro goes red and leaves quickly, along with Wanda who wants to see Vision.

We laugh as they leave, and finish up with the last of them and the shoes in the last box. We decide it's time to go face the others so we all get into the elevator.

I'm shaking as I stand behind the two men, jumping every time the elevator dings past a floor. Loki turns and hands me a wicked looking dagger in a sheath.

"Please, don't stab us with that if you would love." He says as I tie it onto my hips and give him a relieved look with a nod. Bucky nods once at us both as the doors open. I again stand behind the 2, like a protective barrier against any harm that might come.

The doors open and we all step out. The 3 of us stay standing by the edge of the room, my hands balled into the back shoulder of both of their shirts. I try to look over their shoulders but I'm too short. My feet leave the floor and I realize Loki is giving me a boast so I can see. My head peaks out from behind the super soldier and god just enough to see the room.

"Hey kid, you gonna tell us what the hell earlier was about?" Tony says, looking over curiously. I nod and we all move as a unit to stand in front of the group, still walking on air behind the 2. Everyone looks at the sight before them. A super soldier and a god, both looking serious with arms crossed, and a tiny girl clinging to their backs.

'What a sight to behold.' I think just as Friday chimes in that she got a couple pictures for me. I'm shaking slightly as I swallow harshly before starting.

"I lose my powers 3-4 times a year. No one knows why." I say, looking down so I can't see the hatred and disgust in their faces. No one speaks for a minute before Tony opens his mouth.

"So you're defective sometimes?" He asks casually. I let out a shaky sob as I hide my face in Loki's shoulder. Both men let out loud growls. I hear a smack and a gun cock. I start crying harder and push myself further into Bucky's and Loki's backs, thinking they were going to shoot me.

"It's okay Babydoll, look." Bucky says, making me peak my eye over his shoulder. I see Clint behind Tony with a hand over his mouth and Nat holding a gun in his face. Tony looks slightly nervous with his hands up in surrender, while everyone else is looking at me with soft, reassuring eyes.

"That's okay Luci, we aren't going to turn you out over something like that." Sam says, giving Tony a glare. Tony nods, still staring down the barrel of the gun in Nat's hand. Clint let's him go as Nat puts her gun back in its holster and sits on Bruce, who looks slightly green and glaring at Tony, to try to calm him down.

Tony gets up and starts walking towards our triangle, as the group stares at him. I push as close as I can to their backs as they stiffen and stand taller, ready for a fight. I whimper as he stands in front of us, looking directly at me.

"That's okay kid, we all have our days." Stark says before petting my head and leaving.

Everyone relaxes, as the 3 of us move and sit on a couch, Bucky and Loki on either side of me, where we spend the last of the morning and half the afternoon relaxing.
