Chapter 12 Loki's pov

08:35, 19 January 2022

"Are you sure you're okay little one?" I ask her as I sit down on the stool next to her.

"I'm okay. Really. Just need a second to calm down before I can heal my back." She says before dropping her eyes to her hands, I notice her limiters flickering slightly, as if her powers weren't stable.

"Excuse me sir, can I get a rainy day glass?" I ask the bartender, to which he nods, walking off. I turn her chair so her back is to me.

'Buck- coming up' I say mentally to Bucky so he knows it's coming.

"Move your hair to the side darling, and hold on to the side of your cape." I say as I move my finger tips over her collarbone, reaching for the bow at the base of her throat. I untie it as she sweeps her hair to her left, the side toward the room, while holding that side of her cape as well. The other side of her cape flutters down and rests along the remaining fabric of it on her left side. I look at her back for a moment.

"I can manage this sweetling, you just relax." I say still looking at the marks on her skin.

'It's bad James.' I call to Bucky, warning him before I show him.

'Let's see it.' He answers quickly, wanting to assess the damage. I let my hand turn blue to numb it, as I touch my fingers to the 4 deep puncture marks on the right side of her back, then run them along the 4 equally deep scratches that race across her back, blood slowly dripping from them. I hear Bucky growl from across the room from us, trying hard to not join him.

'If I ever see that cockrag again...well. Let's just say we found a new knife board.' Bucky says as I feel him trying to calm down.

'Yes I agree, he is a dead man walking.' I reply as I get to work healing her back, Buck still watching through my eyes to make sure everything goes well. I finish with her back and also remove the blood that had gotten onto her dress and cape. She sighs, before looking over her shoulder at me.

"Is there any blood on my cape and dress?" She asks, with an anxious look in her eyes.

"I got rid of the stain darling, stop worrying about it." I reply with a small smile as I let Bucky's sight go.

'Keep your eyes on her just in case.' I say, getting no response.

She nods at me as the bartender returns with a glass of golden liquid, placing it in front of me. I hand her the string of her cape, our fingers connecting for a moment as she grabs it, and then fixes it along her shoulders. She moves her hair back around her, as I take a sip from the glass and sigh in relief. She looks at me with questions in her eyes before speaking.

"What is that? I saw Thor drinking it earlier and his mind was wandering all over a golden palace." She questions, looking curious.

"That would be the palace on Asgard, our home. This is Asgardian mead, one of the most delicious alcohols in all 9 realms. You can understand why it's so hard to get here on Midgard then." I say, to which she nods. I know she wants to try it but she doesn't ask, instead she grabs my hand and her drink.

"Come on, it's time to threaten people and then dance." She replies while walking us towards Wanda and Vision.

"I approve. If you hurt her in any way, I will dismantle you and send you to the junkyard." She says to Vision, making me smile, before purple shimmers over her cup and she sets it down on the table to their left.

"You can sit here and enjoy your drink, watching me dance right there," she stops to point to a spot on the edge of the dance floor, closest to us and Bucky. "Or you can put it down and drink it in a little bit. Doesn't matter to me. Both you and Bucky can see me clearly." She concluded. I talk to Bucky while I look between the two places.

'What do you think Bucky? I just got a drink from home and I would love to enjoy it but I don't want her to get hurt again.' I ask.

'I can see her and so can you. We can step in before things get too bad like before.' He replies with a nod from where he is.

'Why didn't she ask to try it? She wants to.' I ask him quickly.

'She sees it makes you happy, and knows what it feels like to have that taken away. She won't ask unless you offer it.' He says sadly.

'I see.' I say, trying to control my anger of how badly this amazing woman was raised. I offer my glass to her with a smile. She takes the smallest sip possible before looking at me in shock. I chuckle at her reaction as I send it to Bucky and nod. I sit in one of the chairs by the other 2 before I nod at her to go, and take a large sip from my cup.

'She is something else.' Bucky says watching her move into the spot she pointed to beforehand. She looks around, probably to make sure we can both see her, before she starts to dance. Bucky and I chuckle together at this small ball of fire. Nat comes up to her and starts dancing as well, seeming to be in a conversation about something with her.

'She most definitely is. Is she the one that would keep you up at night?' I ask curiously.

'That she is. It was hell on her to be in there but the fuckers moved her every time I got close. I'm just glad she's here now, safe.' He answers with a growl.

'As am I.' Was all I replied with as I finished my drink. I set the now empty glass down beside her shimmering purple one and make my way over to the 2 women. Natasha was laughing about something when I walked up beside the 2. Natasha leaves and Mae grabs my hand, still dancing.

"I don't know how to dance like this darling." I say looking around at the bodies moving around us.

"All you do is move your body to the beat; it's easy, no wrong answers." She explains as a new song came on. She must know the song because she got excited and started to dance around me.

"Like this." She says as she continues to dance. I watched her for a few more moments, enjoying the way her body shifted, before moving as well. She smiles before turning around and starts to move her hips once they find contact with my body. I groan at the feeling of her on me, before she giggles and starts to dance around me again.

'She does like to play though.' I think Bucky, showing him the images of her hips on me.

'You just had to show me didn't you. I gotta go to the bathroom now.' He says with a groan of his own.

'You're most welcome, good friend.' I reply as I see him moving toward a restroom, most likely to re-situate his pants. We continue to dance, her grinding on me every once in a while. I laugh a few times at her silliness and actually have a good time doing so.

After a while, Wanda came over to us telling us we were going up to the common floor. We go to the elevator and right as the door is closing, she flashes her drink into her hand.

We make it up, where all the others drunkenly claim places to sit, and she walks into the kitchen, coming back moments later with bottled water that she hands out. I smile at her sweetness. She sits on the other end of the couch by her drink while Bucky and I sat down as well, him on the end with me in the middle. Everything was going well until Clint said it was bullshit that only the oaf could lift his hammer. Thor laughs and sets it on the coffee table before he exclaims loudly.

"By all means friends, if you think you are worthy of the powers of Thor, try if you want." He sits back down with a smile on his face, as usual. Of course Anthony and Clint are the first to try to lift it. It was amusing to see them fail.

Natasha turned to Mae, asking about the interview. Everyone stopped to listen because they were all curious as well. She giggles before she speaks.

"Well, how much do you know about the story of Lucifer?" She asks instead of answering, to which we all shrug.

"Well I-" she starts but Friday interrupts her.

"Can I tell them Morningstar? Please?" The AI basically begs.

I lean forward, interesting to know how she captivated an entire group of idiotic reporters.

"Of course Sweetpea, the floor is yours." Mae replies as she sits back casually.

"In most classical texts about Lucifer, the angel that fell from heaven after giving the humans knowledge, it is said that he can seduce most humans, making them tell him their desires and also comply with most of his demands; very few people can withstand his charms, other than the other strong angels, as he was the strongest." Friday explains, making the rest of the group look at Mae in a demanding manner.

"I'll try it on you guys when you're actually sober. I'm not sure it works on gods though so that will be interesting to see." She says, glancing at Thor and I.

"Alright, everyone else, try the hammer. You have to." Tony says, drawing the attention back to him. All of them but Natasha and Pietro do. This leads the attention of the group back to Mae and myself.

"I've had that question answered on many occasions. I am not worthy." I say quickly, putting my hands up and leaning back. I look at Mae with the rest.

"Come on shedevil, you're up. You have to try." Tony says making the others agree.

"Just do it love, they won't stop until you do." I tell her while the oaf nods with my words. I wonder what he's up to. She sighs before standing and makes her way to the table.

"I'm the literal embodiment of Satan, of Hel in you twos case." She says, grabbing the handle. She sighs and looks at me, like I can help in some way.

"There's no way I'm going to be worthy to lift it. I've done terrible things." She continues as she lifts the hammer, waving it casually as she moves her hands with her words. Some gasp from the side of the room, while I focus my attention on Thor, who winks at me before speaking.

"Worthy!" He booms with a huge smile. She stands stunned for a moment before setting it back down and walking back to her seat. She chugs her drink from the party and her water as the group moves on. She sits there in silence for a couple minutes before she starts to sway back and forth.

"Love? Mae are you alright?" I ask, taking a hold of her arm, trying to get her to face me. Bucky looks over concerned at my tone. She scrambles to pick up her glass before studying it, and hands it to me. I grab it not really understanding what's going on.

"He drugged me." Was the slurred explanation I got, just before she slumps off of the couch, crumbling to the floor.

"Bucky what is this?" I say, handing him the glass quickly and move to pick her now unconscious body off the floor.

"It's a white powder. My guess is Rohypnol. Stark, Bruce- take this to your lab. Analyze it. Someone used a date rape drug on her." Bucky orders as the 2 sober up immediately.

"Take her to your room, Loki. She's going to be out of it for a bit but should be fine. She might have a headache when she does wake so be careful. I have to go see what those security guys did with that drunken shitstain." Bucky continues as he stands with me. We walk to the elevator together when Mae lets out a moan of pain.

"Loki, listen to me. She has been through some hard stuff. Right now her walls are down and she's probably back in one of Hydra's hell holes. Just...don't look into her mind. Put a shield around her if you have to but don't do it. I need you to promise me." He says once we're in the elevator.

"I promise. I'll shield her and not pry." I say before looking down at her, the limiters starting to glow brighter.

"She can't hold her powers right now either." I remark as her hair starts moving on its own.

"Shit. I know it's asking a lot but can you..." He trails off not really knowing how to ask me to keep her physical appearance in check. I nod once and look back at the door as a shimmer of green encases Mae, along with the blanket she likes.

"I'll let you know if I find anything. I can use the cellphone Stark gave us if you're draining your magic already with her?" He questions, not knowing how much I need to help her.

"No it's no problem." I say just as the doors open to the floor with my room on it, 6 floors above Mae's.

"Take care of her. I'll be back in a bit." He says as I step off. I nod at him and walk to my room, laying her in bed. She makes another pained noise as I lay her down.

"Shhh love, you're safe now. I've got you." I soothe her, trying to also put my mind at ease.

"No more...no chamber..." she almost shrieks before rolling to her side. I decided to pick up one of my books, as reading usually helps me. I read for a little while before she rolls over moaning again and clutching her arm.

"It's not mine...make it stop...not my pain..." she mumbles out.

"How about I read to you, love? So you know you're not alone anymore." I say before reading aloud from the place in the book I stopped. She finally lets go of her arm and snuggles into the blanket I put the warming spell on. I smile at her as I continue to read out the book. I finished one and started another before Bucky's voice floated into my mind.

'They didn't get his name. They just let him go after they got him out of the building. We'll need to talk to her...but she'll be so upset.' He says sadly.

'Go take a shower. The sun is up now and she'll be waking up. She'll need you.' I tell him without breaking my reading.

'You too Loki, go shower. She'll be fine for the 10 minutes it takes you. Oh and wash your hair well, she has a thing for it.' He says with a chuckle, knowing I slick it back because of Thor.

'Oh go suck an egg.' I replied before chuckling with him, standing to go shower.

'Maybe I'll leave it down today.' I thought to myself before entering the bathroom.
