Chapter 38: Warm Fuzzy Feelings

09:53, 5 October 2014

(Maya’s POV)

4 hours until the wedding.

I couldn’t believe today was the day I was getting married. I walked around the courtyard getting my Salt Caramel Mocha. Wolverhampton was beautiful this time of year. I was going to miss waking up to this. “Thought I’d catch you out here,” I hear Harry said. I look to my side and there he was walking next to me. “Hey there twin,” I laughed. “Twin,” He said very dramatically. “We have four letters for you, one for each hour until the wedding. Here is the first one,” He said. He handed it to me. “See you later,” he smiled and then excused himself.

I set down on a bench and open the letter.

Maya,

My wonderful Maya, you only have four more hours as Maya Hudson, I’d live it up with I were you, but don’t get turnt up.

I laughed at his lame jokes, I could only imagine him laughing to himself as he wrote that. I continued with the letter.

But in all honest, I can’t wait for you and I to be married. I watching everyone scramble to make sure everything looks perfect and I don’t know why because after everyone sees you none of that other stuff will matter. Maya you are my world and I thank  you for everything you have done for me since the day we met. Thank you for never seeing me as just Liam Payne member of the world famous boy band One Direction, thank you for seeing me as Liam James Payne a boy from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, whose dreams came true. Thank you for never giving up hope on me when times get tough. Thank you for never leaving me when I was at my worst. Thank you for loving me unconditionally through and through. I know it wasn’t been easy but I’m glad you chose to stay with me no matter what, and for that I’m very grateful. Until the next hour, remember how much I love you.

XOXO,

Liam

A few tears escaped from my eyes and I just sat there for a moment I finished my drink and then went back to where the girls were meeting. “There is the bride!” Eleanor exclaimed. I smiled, “Hey everyone!” My mom just smiled at me as I went over and hugged her. “I couldn’t be more proud of you,” She said as she hugged me. “I love you mom,” I whispered. “I love you too,” She said.

We hugged for a moment longer before getting ready for the wedding. “Okay, the glam team as arrived,” Lou told me.  “Thank you for all the help, Lou! I really do appreciate it,” I assured her with a warm smile. ‘Anything for you, Emmy,” she smiled.

(Liam’s POV)

My parents and I decided to have breakfast by ourselves today, one last time before I was married. My mum would cry from time to time. “Please don’t cry, I’ll still be here just like we always have been,” I assured her. “It’s not that Liam, I am just so happy after everything you found Maya, she’s everything your father and I could have asked for. She is perfect for you.” She explained to me.  I looked at my dad who just smiled and nodded. It meant the world to me that my parents loved Maya so much, I was always scared that when I found the one I wanted to marry, my parents wouldn’t approve.  They are not the easy people to impress.

“Liam, we see the way you two look at each other. It’s like when you were a little boy and got all the presents you wanted for your birthday. You two are just so in love and happy together, it warms our hearts. We know your life hasn’t been easy, but Maya is living proof great things come when you least expect them too,” My dad said.  I nodded. I knew he was right, Maya came into my life at the perfect time. Every time I think back to that night, I get all warm inside. I followed my gut feeling and pulled her out from the crowd, because I knew she wasn’t just a fan, she was someone I was supposed to meet.

(Bri’s POV)

I woke up in the hotel room I had to check into yesterday after Chase and I fought. I felt bad for everything and for breaking up with him, but I knew it was the right thing to do. I called for home serviced and while I waited for that I took a quick shower. I didn’t know why but I didn’t feel any anger towards Maya, maybe it was because she was fragile during that time and she was embarrassed of what she did. She probably couldn’t even talk about it, and that’s why she never told me. As the hot water hit my body I could only think of the pain I felt yesterday when Chase slapped me. It wasn’t the first time, but it was sure the last.

I finished with my shower and put my robe on. Just in time my breakfast had just arrived. I thanked the man who brought and then set down to eat. So many thoughts ran through my head. Why after all this time did Chase still love Maya? What happened at the cemetery? When was Maya and Chase at the same cemetery? Would I ever be able to tell Maya something I should have a long time ago?

(Flashback)

I had just gotten done working at Justice for the day, I was walking around the mall hoping to find some good sales to tell Maya about. She would obviously want to come and meet me here, she would never miss a good sale and I didn’t want to shop alone.

Bri: If I find a good sale will you meet up with me?

Maya: I’m not sure, Bri, I’m waiting to see if Carter gets back into town.

That’s when I bumped into someone. “Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry.” I heard a man’s voice tell me. “C’mon, babe, we are going to miss the movie!” his girlfriend cried. That’s when we looked at each other. “CARTER?!” I gasped. He got nervous. “I’m sorry, but who are you?” He asked trying to play it off cool. I just stared at him. “Your right, it’s my bad, you aren’t who I thought you were. I thought you were my best friend’s boyfriend. Man you guys look awfully a like, but he is away for the wedding with his support group. He would never cheat on her!” I snapped and shoulder checked him as I walked past.

(End of flashback)

Things were never the same for Carter and I after that and when he lied about the trip he went on showing pictures that he obviously photo shopped I would leave the room because I couldn’t handle him lying to her. I always wanted to tell her, but I didn’t want to hurt her, and I had a feeling that even if I tried to tell her that Carter would somehow make her believe I was lying.

(Chase’s POV)

I rolled out of the bed as the alarm sounded. Today was the day Maya would be getting married to Liam, let’s just hope the surprise works. I took a quick shower letting the water hit me in the face. Maybe it would relax me. I didn’t know how I should feel about the wedding, yes I was still in love with Maya, but you would think after two years I would be over that. She even took me out of her life, why should I still love her?

I stared at the box I was suppose to deliver to Liam today, I couldn’t believe he had asked for this. Was he crazy? Does he not understand how hard it was for me to get this? I knew Liam’s heart was in the right place but he would do anything to make sure Maya was very happy. He was the perfect guy for her, but it still hurt I wasn’t the guy she would marry today.

(Maya’s POV)

There was knock at the door I went over to open it and it was Niall smiling holding an envelope. “I believe there’s only three hours left. For you my darling,” he chuckled as he handed me the envelope. “Thank, Nialler,” I smiled as I took it from him. “See you there,” He nodded and left. I went back to the girls. “Three hours left,”  I smiled as I showed them the letter. “READ IT!” Makayla called out. “Alright, gather around everyone its story time,” I joked.

Maya-May,

it was way too hard to wake up to your beautiful smile this morning. The next time I see that smile we will be getting married. Its only three hours away, it seems too far away. Remember when we stayed up until three in the morning watching FRIENDS? You ate all the popcorn and blamed it on our imaginary dog?  Three is a magical number there are three words in my favorite phrase you hear me say, “I love you.” Three is the number of places we have lived together. Three is the number of songs it took me to get the guts to pull you on stage. Three is time of morning we had our first raw moment in your apartment hallway the first night we met. Three is the number of weeks it took me to get you back the time you ran away from me. Three is the time of day we’ll be getting married.  Just remember the three word phrase I love to tell you, “I love you.”

Xoxo.

Liam.

Once again tears filled in my eyes. “How does he do this?” Serra asked. “He’s a songwriter they have a magical way with words,” Lou pointed out. “Guys, I didn’t do anything special for him!” I panicked. “I have an idea.” Makayla smirked.

(Liam’s POV)

“Letter is delivered,” Niall said as he came back into the room. “Awesome, thanks, Nialler!” I chimed. I couldn’t believe I was getting married to the love of my life in only three short hours, but it seemed so far away. “Are you ready for this?” Andy asked me. “I sure am, but I can’t help but be nervous,” I admitted. “I think that’s normal,” He stated. Andy has been my best friend ever since I could remember. He almost wasn’t going to be able to make it today.  “Dude, I know I shouldn’t say this but Maya looked like perfection,” Niall told me. I smiled, of course she did, she always did, even when she wasn’t trying. She looked perfect when she wakes up in the morning. “I’m sure she did, Niall, she always does.” I nodded. “Has anyone heard from Chase?” I asked. “Nope, do you think he’ll follow through with it?” Harry asked. “I’m not sure, Haz, but I hope he does,”  I sighed. If this didn’t work, I’ll be very upset. I worked way to hard on this for him to ruin it.

“Liam! Lou is here!” Louis chimed. “Did you tell her she must be lost since she is at the wrong location?” I joked as I walked to the door. “I tried, but she didn’t listen to me,” Louis laughed. “Very funny you two, but I have a something for Liam for his soon-to-be-bride,” She said. “Really?” I asked in shock. “Yes, here you go,” She said. She handed me a box. “Thanks, Lou,” I smiled. She returned the smile with a nod, and walked away.

“What is it?” Harry asked as he peered over my shoulder. “I’m not sure, I haven’t opened it yet,” I told him.”Do you want a minute?” Tom asked. I nodded. All the guys scurried into the hall. I set down on the bed and opened the box. There was a DVD inside and a note.

Dear Mr. Payne,

Please watch, I have something I want to tell you.

XOXO,

Future Mrs. Payne

I did as the note told me, soon Maya appeared on the TV. I instantly smiled at the sight of her, gosh I missed her so much. “Hey, Lee, can you believe it today is our wedding day. It’s so wonderful but scary at the same time.  As we get ready for the ceremony and everyone starts to fill those empty seats outside I just wanted you to remember how much you mean to me. You, Liam James Payne, are heaven sent and I mean that. I love you with everything I have and I will never stop trying to prove that to you. The next time you will see me is at our wedding. I can’t to finally be able to see you again, I can’t remember the last time I slept in a bed alone.” She laughed a little bit causing me to do the same. “Liam, I hope you are enjoying this time with the guys. I hope they are taking care of the pre-wedding jitters. I love you and I will see you soon.” She smiled and then the video ended.

Tears filled in my eyes. The love I have for her is something no one will be able to understand even if they tried too. When we met we were both in the middle of a healing process and we somehow healed each other. Every once in awhile I try to think about what life would be like if Maya wasn’t around and I could never come to answer, because without Maya there is no life. She is my life, she is the reason I am alive right now, literally. When I got sick and had to go to the ER she had to fight with my parents to get them to take me, if I hadn’t gone in I would have become very ill. I took a minute to let everything sink in.

(Flashback)

“Liam, help,” She practically gasped. I went over to her hospital bed and helped her sit up. “Are you okay?” I asked her. The doctors didn’t know how long it would take her to be able to go home, and it was the third day. “No,” she whimpered. “I’ll get a doctor,” I offered. “No, please, just lay with me.” She begged. I nodded and got into the bed with her. I wrapped her in my arms as she burred her face into my chest. She started to cry. “Are you in pain?” I asked her. “Liam, please,” she begged. “Alright, but if you need anything just tell me,” I told her. She hated when I tried to intervene with the doctors’ orders and what they said would be best for her. Honestly if she is in a lot of pain you probably should do something about it now instead of waiting for another doctor to come in so she can try a new form of medication that is suppose to work better for her condition.

I rubbed her back as she cried. “I do need something,” she said through her tears. “And what’s that?” I asked her. “I need you to stay with me forever and make sure I never get hurt again. I need to know this will never happen again.” She sobbed. I hugged her as tight as I could without causing too much extra pain, I had become good at that it was a very long trial and error process. I felt my heart break into tiny pieces, I knew it was my fault she was here, in this bed, strapped to many different machines, in so much pain. “I promise I will never let this happen again. I will never allow anyone to hurt you or come close enough to even think about hurting you.” I assured her as I kissed the top of her head.

(End of flashback)

I went to let the other guys back in we had to get ready so we could take pictures before the wedding. “What was it?” Harry asked. “A video,” I told her. They exchange immature banter, but I didn’t even correct them, I didn’t have to worry about that time of stuff.  Soon my dad arrived I couldn’t explain the feeling I had as my helped get ready for my own wedding it was surreal. My dad had always talked about how hard it would be the day when my sisters got married, but he never really said anything about when I got married. I never really understood that part, but I think it has to be a father daughter type of thing.

(Maya’s POV)

As I got my hair and makeup done my stomach did flips. “Are you okay?” the stylist asked me. “Yeah, today just seems so unreal,” I assured her. “Are you nervous?” She asked. I nodded. “What do you have to be nervous about?” She asked me as she curled my hair. “I’m not sure, I just I don’t want anything to get messed up,” I told her. “Honey, I don’t think Liam will allow anything to get messed up. He seems to be crazy about you and he only wants you to be happy,” she smiled. I smiled at her in the mirror. “You really see that?” I asked her.  “Everyone does,” she smiled. “Are you married?” I asked her. “I sure am, he’s at home with our kids together,” she said. You could hear the joy in her voice as she told me about her family. She had a daughter and twin boys. Her husband was some bigwig in a company. They had two dogs and a cat, even though they think their daughter is allergic to the cat.

As she talked it made me think about having a family with Liam one day, I decided I should probably get through the wedding day first before I started to think about starting a family with him. I use to be scared of the idea but now I am at peace with it.  I couldn’t wait to be married to Liam and move forward with life together.

After my hair and makeup was done there was a knock at the door. “Oh, Mrs. Payne, it’s you!” Everyone cried. I smiled and went to the door. “For you,” Zayn smirked as he handed me an envelope. “Thank, Zayn,” I smiled at him and shut the door.

“Open it!” Jamie cried. “Alright, Alright,” I sighed.

Maya,

I can’t even describe how I’m feeling right now. I’m excited but nervous. I’m calm but anxious. I can’t believe we only have two hours to go. We’ve been together for two years and only we are about to embark on the next chapter of our lives as husband and wife. It’s just so crazy, I never thought I would be first to get married out of the band, I mean I know they call me the dad of the band but I always thought it would be Louis or Zayn.  Maya, these letters are more than just a countdown until we get married, it’s my raw thoughts and feelings being poured out to you. I have never felt so vulnerable until I decided to do this for you. Here I am sitting in my Tux shaking in my boots hoping I will make a perfect husband for you, and I bet you have that cute smirk on your face and you wish you could tell that I will be the perfect husband for you, but we all know none of us are perfect. I promise to be as close to the perfect husband to you as I possibly can, because I will do whatever it takes to make you happy.

XOXO.

Liam

(Bri’s POV)

I looked in the mirror one last time before I left my room if I wanted to make it there on time I would have to leave soon. Well I still could probably wait an hour but I didn’t want to cross paths with Chase before the wedding. I grabbed my purse and headed for the hotel lobby. “Off to the wedding?” The front desk person asked me. “How do you know that?” I asked her. “Maya, called to make sure you got in safe,” She smiled. “Did you tell her I did?” I asked her. I got happy knowing Maya made sure we made it here safely. I was going to call her and tell her we made it in last night but things got out of hand and I forgot too.

The lady behind the desk smiled at me. “I did tell her, but the gentleman you came with already left.” She informed me.  I nodded at her. “Yeah, he had to the help the groom, I told him I would meet him there,” I lied. “Well, you better get along, catching a cab at this time of day is a struggle,” She dismissed me. I nodded and walked outside. She wasn’t kidding, trying to get a cab was terrible.

(Chase’s POV)

I held the box in my hands as I walked up the long driveway to hand it off to Liam. He told me to meet them in some garden where they were taking some groomsmen pictures. I spotted Maya on my way up here, she looked like a dream, but I didn’t make myself known. I figured it was best that way, today I’m just a friend here to celebrate her big day. When I found Liam he noticed me right away. He walked over to me and I handed the box to him. “Here you go,” I said. “Thanks, man, I truly do appreciate it.” He said with a smile.

You could tell he was happy but nervous at the same time just by looking at his face. “No problem, and don’t be nervous,” I shrugged as I walked away.  “Chase, what are you doing here?” I heard someone ask me. I turned around and saw Carter’s sister standing there. “Oh hey,” I sighed. “Did Maya invite you?” she snapped. “Uh yeah, well actually I’m Bri’s date,” I lied. She rolled her eyes and walked away. I looked around. This wedding looked like something out of a fairytale; you can tell Maya planned it. From the colors to the flowers, it was everything Maya ever wanted.

She didn’t get everything she wanted when she was planning her wedding with Carter because Carter didn’t want anything she wanted. Sometimes I wanted to ask Maya if she was only marrying Carter because she felt like she had no other choice, but I never did. “Chase, Maya would like to see you,”  Joyce came and told me.

“Me? Maya wants to see me?” I asked her in shock. “Yeah, she would,” She sighed. I didn’t know what to do or say but so stay silent and followed her to Maya.

(Maya’s POV)

I set by the pond in my wedding dress, I was so scared to walk down the aisle and commit my life to loving Liam. I had pre-wedding jitters so bad right now. I threw another piece of bread to the fish and watched them fight over it. “Hey,” I heard Chase sigh. I stood up and looked at him. “Hey,” I practically whispered. “You…uh…wow you look amazing,” He smiled. “Thanks,” I smiled. “You wanted to see me?” He asked me. I nodded. “Before I get married and life gets crazy. I need to apologize for everything I ever did to you. I never wanted to hurt you like I did, but I was in a very bad place. I never used you, honestly I loved the time we spent together. You were such great help for the short time and I had to go and ruin it.” I sighed I couldn’t make eye contact with him. “But now I’m finally getting the happy ending I’ve always wanted and you have Bri. We both know what we had wouldn’t last, we were just caught up in actually being happy for once after everything we’ve been through.” I told him.

“I know that, but I’ve never stopped loving you,” he sighed. “Chase, don’t you get it?” I asked him. It was silent for a moment, you could hear everyone arriving. Happy chatter filled the air. “Get what?” He asked me. “We were never in love, we just forced ourselves to think that so we could be happy again,”  I admitted. “That might have happened to you, but I really was in love with you Maya, I always have been,” He sighed. “Chase, but now you have Bri, and you guys are perfect for each other.” I assured him. “She broke up with me, last night.” He sighed.

“Maya, come on we need you!” Louis hollered. “I’m sorry, Chase, but I’ll find you after the wedding I got to you,” I said. I walked away from him leaving him hurt again. But this time I didn’t feel terrible about it, I felt free.

“What’s up, Louis?” I asked him. “Well you do only have an hour left,” he smirked. He handed me another envelope and walked away. I smiled as I opened it.

Maya Claire Hudson,

We only have one hour left, how crazy does that feel? It feels pretty crazy I know, but as time gets closer I get less nervous. Maybe it’s the fact I know when the ceremony is over you will officially be my life and I have waited so long for this moment to get here, I don’t want to wait much longer. See you soon.

Xoxo,

Liam

HEY GUYS! Okay, enough with dragging out the wedding it will be the next chapter I promise! Okay so I want to know what song do you picture the theme song for this story? Or is there a few? Let me know! Sorry it takes me forever to post I literally spend my days at my job and by the time I get home I’m exhausted.  I have to admit I love what Chase and Bri are bringing to this story.  XOXO*
