Chapter 5: Go away and never come back

(Maya’s POV)

There was only a month left in the tour I couldn’t believe how fast time was going by. I have been on the tour with them for two month now! “Maya, we need to talk,” Liam said he looked worried. “About what?” I asked him. “Where we are going to leave about the tour is over,” Liam told me. “Oh, we can go where every you feel comfortable,” I tell him. “I was thinking Nebraska at least while we are on break,” He tells me with his adorable smile. I instantly smile I can’t believe he wants to come to Nebraska with me. “Really? You want to live in Nebraska?” I ask him. “I do, I thought about it and I think it’s a great place for us,” Liam assured me.

“What does management think of this?” I asked. “They are okay, but my parents not so much,” He told me. My smile was changed into a frown. “Oh, I haven’t even met them no wonder why they don’t want you to move with me,” I told him. He pulled me in for a hug. “You will meet them I promise.” He said. I hugged him back.

Jane: I still can’t believe Carter just died like four months ago and you are already moved on. You disgust me.

Serra: Maya I can’t for you to be home! I miss you!

“Liam, we have a sound check,” Harry came and told Liam. “Go you need all the practice you can get,” I smirked. Liam laughed and kissed my forehead and left with Harry.  “Lou needs you in hair and make-up,” one of the stage managers tell. I walk down to Lou and I find all of my family standing there. Tears instantly start to stream down my face. “Oh my gosh!” I cried. “Surprise!” They all yell. Even Bri was standing there. I hug them all. “Obviously your cousin Jane hates you at the moment so she isn’t her,” Bri informs me. “It’s okay, I have all of you and that’s all that matters,” I tell her. I see Serra and Makayla standing there I go over and hug them. “You aren’t mad at me?” Serra asked. “No, not anymore,” I assured her.

(Liam’s POV)

“Leeyum! What is wrong with you today?!” Harry cried. “Sorry, my throat is sore.” I said then cleared my throat. We ran through “They Don’t Know About Us” and Midnight Memories”. “You sounded better then,” Niall told me. “Thanks, I just need to drink so tea and honey before the concert,” I informed him. “I bet Maya would get you some,” Louis told me. “Probably, but she is busy right now,” I tell them. “With what?” Harry asked. “We surprised her with her family coming out here,” I informed them.

“Oh well good job lover boy!” Harry joked.  “Let’s go say hi,” Zayn suggested. We all ran back stage.  We found them in Maya’s dressing room. “Oh there you are,” Maya said when I walked into the room. “Here I am,” I said with a smile After saying hi to everyone we took them on a tour and showed them the stage. “Are you watching the show from the side stage?” Harry asked. “No, we have front row seats,” Maya’s mom told us. “Nice!” Harry exclaimed. Maya laughed. I looked down at our intertwined fingers.  “Guys are you ready for the meet and greet?” Paul asked. “If we have too,” Harry whined.  I saw Maya smirk.  I hug Maya quickly and go with the guys to the meet and greet.

(Maya’s POV)

“It seems like they are always on the run,” Bri mentioned. “Yeah, during the day but after the shows we have a great time,” I tell her. Serra laughed. “What’s so funny?” I ask her. I turn around and see Harry and Liam goofing off. “If I remember correctly you have a meet and greet to do.” I remind them. They drop their heads and go back stage. “What would you like to see next?” I ask everyone.

“All your clothes!” Bri exclaimed. “Okay, follow me!” I chimed. I lead them back down stage where all of the clothes all. “Lou, everyone wants to see the clothes!” I called but Lou didn’t answer. “Hmm, that’s odd,” I thought to myself.

(Later after the show- Liam’s POV)

We all headed back to the hotel even Maya’s family. It was weird to have them with us. “Do you guys want to go swimming?” I asked. “Can we?!” Maya’s little sister, Jamie, asked. “Uh duh!” Harry exclaimed. “I’ll race you there!” He challenged Jamie. They took off down the hallway and we all laughed.

“They forgot to change,” Maya pointed out. “Does Harry ever remember anything?” Zayn asked. “Nope.” Niall said.  We all went to our rooms and changed then went to the pool. “Thank goodness you remembered to bring my swim trunks,” Harry chimed as we walked into the pool. “Yeah, they are important,” I joked.

Harry just laughed and took them from me. . We all laughed and Harry twirled like a ballerina to the bathroom to change into his swim trunks. “Is he always like this?” Bri asked. “Pretty much,” Niall answered. 

“Liam, your parents will be here in the morning,” Simon came in and told me. Maya looked at me stunned. “Okay,” I replied.  

(Maya’s POV)

Bri and I were getting ready to go out for the night and Liam was in a meeting with Simon and the boys.  “Are your cousins coming with us?” Bri asked me. “No, they didn’t want too,” I told her as Lou curled my hair. She laughed. “What is so funny?” I asked her. “I love how Lou is doing your hair,” she told me.

Serra: Have fun tonight xoxo

Maya: You guys need to come with!!

“Honey, we’re home!” Harry chimed as he and Liam walked through the hotel room door. “Oh, Lou, you couldn’t stay away could you?” Harry joked.  Lou pushed him and away while laughing. “You are good to go, Maya,” She chimed. “You looked amazing!” Liam smiled. He picked me up and twirled me around.

“GAG ME!!” Bri and Harry yelled at the same time. “Come with us!” I begged him. “Please Liam!” Bri begged.  “Just us four?”  Liam asked. “Well duuuh!” I joked. “We probably should run it by Paul,” Liam suggested. “Oh c’mon live a little, lad,” Harry said.  “I’ll go talk to Paul,” Liam said and then left.

“What a debby downer,” Bri sighed.

Jane: I can’t believe you are still seriously going alone with this.

Maya: Just leave me alone if you have nothing to say to me. You don’t know the whole story so just shut up!

 “Alright let’s go!” Liam chimed as he walked into the room.

(Liam’s POV)

We danced the night away and had dinner. It was great to be out with Maya and her friend along with Harry without everyone getting into our business. “We had fun the right way,” Maya reported to Paul as we entered the hotel. “I’m glad to hear that,” Paul smirked. “We are going to our rooms now, we have a long day ahead of us,” I said.

(The next morning- Maya’s POV)

A loud knock at the door woke me up. “Who is that?” I yawned. I crawled out of bed leaving Liam still asleep. I rubbed my eyes pretty much the whole walk to the door. The loud knock happened again.  “What the heck is going on?!” I cried. I was two steps away from the door when the knocking grew more rapid and louder. I opened to the door to see my cousin Jane standing there.

“What are you doing here?!” I snapped. “To convince you to come home!” She huffed walking past me into the room. “I never told you that you were welcome to come in,” I recall. “That’s okay,  I won’t be long,” She smirked. “Well, I have to get ready soon, so you should go,” I suggest.  “Love, who is here?” Liam yawned as he walked out to the main room in just boxer. Jane’s eyes grew in fury. “Oh, Liam, this is my cousin, Jane. The one I told you about,” I told him. “You two share a room?!” She cried. “I’m uhm going to get dressed,” Liam coughed and went back to the room.   

“Jane, what is wrong with you!” I cried. “Carter just died and you are here with him! You ran away leaving all of us behind! You left Carter’s family when they needed you the most! You did all of this to run from your past, you are just using all of them!” she yelled.

Tears streamed down my face. “You have no idea what I went through those three months! It was the worst time of my life, I had lost everything, my future, the person who loved me the most, and my best friend! I thought I wouldn’t be able to go on! Carter killed himself because of me! I’m the reason he is dead, Jane! I didn’t run away from my problems and I talked to Carter’s family and my family about all of this before I left! I need to get on with my life, but doesn’t mean I moved on from Carter I think about him all the time and I wear the ring on a chain so he is always with me!” I cried.

(Liam’s POV)

I heard yelling from the main area of the hotel room but I was conflicted, I didn’t know if I should go out there or not.

Liam: Need back up in our room ASAP!

Simon: Outside the door now, all the gang is.

I heard the knock at the door and Jane yelled more.

(Maya’s POV)

“You are so pathetic! I know you and you don’t care if these people love you all you care about is about is leaving Carter behind!” She yelled. There was a knock at the door. I rushed over to get it. When I opened it Lou, Simon, Niall, Louis, and Harry were standing there.  “Guys, I don’t know if you should be here,” I whispered. “We need to talk to you and Liam,” Simon told me. I stepped aside so they could come in. Liam stepped out and looked at me. I ran over and hugged him. He pulled me as close and he could and I cried.  

3 hours later

We were just told Liam’s family would be here soon and I was so nervous. “You will be fine,” Liam assured me. “What if they hate me?” I asked. “No one could possibly hate you,”  Liam said with a smile. “Uh, Maya, we need you,” Bri came and told me. I followed her. “Thanks you saved me,” I told her as we rounded the corner. She didn’t say anything. “What’s going on?” I asked her.

“Jane had a lot to say,” Bri mumbled. We stopped in front of a tv, E! News was on. “A local source says Maya wasn’t randomly pulled from the crowd it was all set up. Maya is being paid for this whole thing. No comment from One Direction or Maya at this time, but we are still in shock over this whole thing.”  The news anchor said.
