Prologue*
05:49, 23 August 2019The worst feeling is the feeling every child from ages 6 to 18 feels at 6:30 am. Or whatever time one gets up for the tragedy that is also known as school. When your eyes start moving inside of your head and then immediately think—Oh shit.
The mass of blonde curls buried themselves deeper into the covers of the warm confinements of a full sized bed that held the 17 year old sleeping beauty. Her breaths coming out faster as her sleepy brain decided to wake up.
"Annabeth! It's time for school!" Her stepmother's voice sounded from the downstairs of the small home. The mass of curls groaned into the pillow.
The family of five had just moved to New York because of an offer made to Annabeth's father for him to work at NYU.
The change itself could of been a blessing in disguise. A brand new start where the 17 year old can reinvent herself to be the better person that she never was back in Cally.
No awkward eye contact with your ex in the hallways. No stuck-up bitches who flaunted their movie-star daddy's moneyNew new new.
The new unpacked room that smelled of mothballs wasn't even enough to dampen her mood. Her first day was going to be a great day and that was that.
That mindset quickly flew out the window when Bobby ran into her room and jumped on Annabeth's bed.
"Annie Annie Annie it's time to get up!!" Her younger brother's knee dug into her calve and she let out a groan. She struggled to sit up with the 90 pound boy sitting on her but she made do. Her eight year old brother was smiling wickedly at her, he knew what he was doing and he knew that Annabeth was about to blow up.
"Please get out." The blonde rubbed her eyes so not to look at her brother and trigger some uncalled screaming and yelling that she knew he was waiting for.
His smug smile fell into a frown at this anticlimactic turn of events. Annabeth smiled in return as she got up, "accidentally" pushing Bobby off of the bed.
"Why are you so happy? It's 6 in the morning and we have school!" Bobby stood up, not phased at the tumble and crossed his arms. His older sister walking to her bathroom and taking out her retainer.
"It's best to have a positive mindset when you don't want to have one, Bobby."
"That made no sense and you are weird." Bobby huffed, stomping out of her room.

"Lunch is on the counter guys." Helen said as the three siblings finished up cereal. Their dad at the head reading the morning newspaper with a mug of coffee at his lips.
The eldest put her bowl and spoon in the sink, smiling in thanks to her step-mother while taking the bagged lunch. "Thank you, Helen."
The two boys raced to grab theirs and hurriedly made their way to the door. "Thanks mum love you!"
"Have a good day guys. Be careful." Fredrick said without looking up from his paper.
"Love you lot see you at 14:00." I shouldered my bag and made my way out into my new life.

The high school was chaos. The count of the school had to be at least 1500–very different from her old private school in San Francisco.
But like every high school, everyone seemed to be divided into groups. Groups is what kept kids sane and socially acceptable in high school. Annabeth made a private agreement with herself that she wouldn't be sucked into some clique.
When she reached the office, she was greeted by a punk looking girl with spiky black hair and a blue streak going down the left side.
All she wore was black. This is the kind of girl that Annabeth's parents would not approve of. As she neared said girl, Annabeth noticed her heavy black eyeliner and the scary fractured look in her electrically blue eyes. She have never seen eyes like hers before and was instantly jealous.
Scary Girl sized her up. "Hey. You must be the new girl who I'm supposed to show around." She had a very heavy accent—maybe European? Maybe this school have a foreign exchange program?
Annabeth shifted her weight and chewed on her lip. "Uh yes..my name is Annabeth." The girl only seems amused by her obvious discomfort. "Thalia Grace." The two shook hands. "What's your locker number?" The blonde rummaged through all of her neatly filed papers. "Uh 407." She smiled. "Cool. You are right by one of my cousins."
Thalia led the new girl to her locker and as they neared it, Annabeth's vision zoned in on a tall boy with black hair.
"Move losers we have a blonde in our midst." Thalia said. Annabeth blushed when both of the boys turned around and wanted to scold Thalia for being rude but the two boys didn't seem too bothered by the intrusion.
The taller boy's eyes twinkled when he smiled at the blonde; his eyes a very beautiful shade of green. The smaller boy just rolled his eyes when Thalia put an arm around him.
"And who have you brought with you today cousin?" He asked Thalia. He too had an accent just like Thalia which Annabeth found endearing. Thalia rolled her eyes. "This is Annabeth. Annabeth, this is my most annoying cousin Percy Jackson.
They did look alike with the messy black fringes. "And this" she said gesturing towards the sophomore. "Is Nico di Angelo. My other cousin." "You guys look a lot alike." Annabeth smiled as the three frowned at each other in disgust. "Why does everyone think that?"
"Because you do." Someone said coming up behind Thalia. Another tall lad with a blonde fringe and blue eyes just like Thalia's. He had a blue letterman's jacket with jeans. He's basically a typical joc. Thalia rolled her eyes. "We do not!" The blonde dude just rolled his eyes. "Whatever Thals." He then looked at Annabeth.
"Hey. Who's this?"
Percy stepped in. "This is Annabeth."
He smiled. "Cool name. My name is Jason Grace."
"Wait. Are you two siblings?" Annabeth smiled referring to him and Thalia. He gave her a crooked smile.
"Unfortunately yes." Thalia elbowed him in the ribs. "So." Percy said turning towards me. "Where's your locker?" "I'm 407." Annabeth couldn't stop the heat rising to her face. It irritated her that this boy already had her flustered.
"That's right next to mine." He said.
"That's nice."
The bell rang signaling the beginning of first period. "Aw shoot!" Thalia mumbled. "I need to go. If I'm late one more time, I'm dead. Percy could you-" "Sure." He said turning towards the now flushed new girl. What class do you have 1st period?" Annabeth looked down at her schedule which looked so alien to her.
"English."
He smiled. "Same here. I'll take you."
The five split up and went separate ways, not without Jason politely inviting her to sit with them at lunch.
"Do you like it here so far?" He asked.
Annabeth smiled to herself, unable to look to the side where Percy was undoubtedly looking at her.
"Yeah it's pretty cool though I've only been here for 15 minutes."
"Where you from?"
"San Francisco. You?"
"Glyfada."
Annabeth frowned. She's never heard of a city called Glyfada...then again, Percy doesn't exactly seem American.
"Oh."
Percy smiled and turned to face her. "A city that is kind of near Athens."
Oh.
He's Greek. It all started to make sense. Annabeth wanted to mentally slap her self for being so oblivious. The accents? The dark hair? Really Annabeth?
"That's actually really cool." Annabeth looked at Percy as if she were looking at him for the very first time...which she just had a few moments prior but now she's sees Percy, an attractive Greek male who is currently guiding her to her next lesson.
Percy shrugged, all of a sudden becoming a bit guarded. He coughed into his hand and cleared his throat, brushing a stray piece of jet black hair behind his ear. Annabeth hadn't realized she was staring until he looked over at her, eyes bright and beautiful.
"How you holding up being New and all?" Percy asked as the two turned a corner."It's kind of hard but I'm glad I found you guys. It's hard being the new kid." He nodded. "I know how you feel. This is my 7th school."
Annabeth snapped her gaze towards Percy, "What?" He blushed a bit. "Let's just say I'm not the best student."
"Percy the bad boy?"
The corner of Percy's mouth quirked up into a mischievous smile, making Annabeth's heart skip a beat and causing her to look down.
They continued the rest of their journey to ELA in silence, Percy stopping in front of a classroom and gesturing Annabeth to take the lead.
Annabeth took her place in the middle, Percy plopping down beside her with that same mischievous smile.
She rolled her eyes when he caught her looking at winked at her and decided to gather her materials together before the class started.
The teacher did arrive a few minutes later, a brown briefcase in hand. "Good morning everyone." He sounded tired.
Mr. Blofis was the name of the teacher, Annabeth realized after Percy said Mr. Blowfish and was ever so kindly corrected by Mr. Blofis.
Annabeth could feel stares throughout the lesson but chose to ignore it, knowing this would happen ahead of time her being new and all.
Time flew by and the bell soon rang. Everyone stood up and raced out of the room. Annabeth on the other hand, took her time getting her stuff together.
"Hey there, you must be the new student?" Mr. Blofis removed his glasses and wiped them against his polo.
"Yes, my name is Annabeth by the way." The 17 year old stuck out her hand which Mr. Blofis shook with a smile.
"Yes I've heard some things about you actually. Apparently you went to a very prestigious school in California?"
Percy oooed in the background but Annabeth ignored him as she smiled back at the teacher.
"Yessir. I went to Trent."
Mr. Blofis nodded his head as he seemed to be thinking. "Interesting. You must be pretty smart then."
Annabeth shrugged even though she knew very well that she had smart brains.
Mr. Blofis' eyes flicked over to where Percy was lazily hunched on a desk and on his phone.
"You know.." Mr. Blofis started, "Percy here could use some help in this class. He's been looking for a new tutor recently since the last one...uh quit."
Annabeth's eyes narrowed and she knew where this was going.
"It would mean so much if you could possibly help him out? I have seen your GPA and I know you are perfectly capable of this, but only if you want too. You'll get 40 school hours."
Annabeth shifted her weight as she looked over at Percy who was smiling innocently at her. Was it smart to get into something like this so early in this new environment?
"Um I don't know..." She but her lip as she turned back to Mr. Blofis. "It's just I'm new and I don't want to be rushed into something too...overwhelming."
"I am not that much of a nuisance." Percy scoffed.
Mr. Blofis smiled. "I completely understand where you're coming from but it's just he really needs the help and no one else can really..."
"Really..." Annabeth frowned.
"He is being dramatic, love. I could really use the help though." Percy jumped off the desk and batted his eyelashes.
"I suppose I can try it out. Yes I can do it."
Mr. Blofis looked so relieved that Annabeth almost wanted to ask what the deal was here but she didn't get the chance when a heavy arm was tossed around her shoulders.
"Just grand! Thank you Miss Chase!" Percy smiled down at the blonde.
"Yes thank you Annabeth." Mr. Blofis smiled that same relieved smile.
"We can have our first session after school today! I have swim but we can do it after?" Percy still had that stupid smirk on his face.
Annabeth took his arm off her and readjusted herself with a shake of her shoulders. "Ok I'll check with my parents."
"Brilliant! Thank you so much again, Annabeth." Mr. Blofis patted her dainty shoulder while Percy just grinned.
Annabeth smiled nervously as she thought What did I just get myself into?
Question of the Chapter: How do you think Goode will be different from Annabeth's old school?
