| Chapter Six |
09:20, 9 March 2022The car ride to Seunghyun's apartment was a silent one, the only noise to be heard being the faint playing of the radio. Jiyong kept his gaze directed out the window, or he tried to at least. He couldn't help but steal little glances at the man in the driver's seat every few seconds; it was almost like his eyes were just drawn to him, which was something that Jiyong hadn't experienced in a long time.
As much as he loved the silence, Jiyong still had a lot of questions floating around in his mind. He wanted to ask him why; why was he acting so polite to a person like him? Jiyong wasn't typically the type of person people acted that way toward. But, even after debating with himself, he decided it would be best if he kept his mouth shut, at least for the time being.
No more than half an hour later, the two males arrived at the large apartment complex. Jiyong was so amazed by the luxurious appearance of the tall building that he could barely take his eyes of it.
"You okay?" Seunghyun asked as he put the car in park and turned it off. Jiyong flinched a little at the sound of Seunghyun's voice and looked at him, only to see him grinning at him a little.
"O-Oh yeah," Jiyong said in a shaky voice. "It's just...I've never been to this part of town before. This place seems really nice."
"Eh, I guess it's alright," the man said, taking the keys out of the ignition and sitting back in his seat.
"Alright?!" Jiyong said with raised eyebrows and widened eyes. "You think this is just alright? Really?"
"Yeah," Seunghyun replied with a small chuckle. "But I guess we just have different perspectives."
"Apparently so," Jiyong said, making Seunghyun chuckle again.
"Come on. I'll take you up to my place," Seunghyun said as he took his seat belt off and placed his hand on the small door handle. Jiyong only nodded in response and mirrored Seunghyun's actions as he got out of the car.
Seunghyun made sure to lock the car before beginning to lead Jiyong up to his second-floor apartment. He still didn't know how he was going to tell him that this was all really a sort of scam without him throwing an absolute fit. But he tried not to let it dawn on him too much and figured he would just cross that bridge when he came to it.
Within the next few minutes, the two made it to the second floor of the building and they continued walking until they reached the front door of Seunghyun's apartment, Jiyong following close behind him the whole time. Seunghyun pulled his house keys out of the back pocket of his jeans and stuck them in the carved out, metal hole before turning them and unlocking the door. He held the door open for Jiyong and threw him a quick smile as he stepped inside, making Jiyong unconsciously blush a little.
But Jiyong was soon distracted by the look of the apartment as his eyes scanned all over the place. Just by looking at the living room, he could tell the apartment was huge and full of empty space. Color, however, didn't make itself to present, as most of the walls and furniture were white with accents of black throughout.
"Let me guess, you think the inside is beautiful, too," said Seunghyun as he took his coat off and hung it back up in the closet. Jiyong, who was in a slight trance, turned around at the sound of his low voice and looked at him in guilt. "I figured that much." He chuckled, shutting the closet door.
"U-Uh...sorry," Jiyong stuttered, his cheeks turning a faint shade of red. "I don't mean to sound repetitive or annoying or anything it's just when you come from a background like mine, even the simplest things are beautiful."
"No, no, it's fine," Seunghyun replied, shaking his head a little as he poured himself a drink. "I get that." Jiyong sighed in relief silently to himself with the faint nod of his head. "You can sit down, you know," he said as he swallowed the small sip he had just taken, once again startling Jiyong. "You don't have to just stand there."
"O-Oh...okay," Jiyong said, feeling a little baffled as to what was happening, but walking over and sitting on the leather couch anyway. Seunghyun came over a few seconds later and sat next to him, leaving some space in between them, but not enough to calm down Jiyong's heartbeat.
As a silence fell upon them, Jiyong was beginning to wonder what was going on. The fact that this Seunghyun person had even tried to make a move on him yet made Jiyong feel slightly awkward. Usually as soon as he entered the hotel or apartment, clothes would already start flying off; that is if they hadn't managed to do it in the car already.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" Seunghyun asked suddenly, another sip travelling down his throat as he spoke. Jiyong was kind of hesitant to answer his question as he looked the serious look on the said male's face but nodded his head after a few seconds passed. "What would you do if I told you that I didn't bring you over here to sleep with you?" Seunghyun asked, looking at Jiyong out of the corner of his eye. "What would you say if I told you that I brought you over here to try and help you?"
Jiyong didn't quite know how to respond to that. Help him? Why was he trying to help him?
"I-I don't know," Jiyong said, blinking his eyes as he looked down and shrugged his shoulders.
"Would you get mad and leave?" Seunghyun asked, his eyes now completely focused on the younger man next to him. Jiyong lifted his head up and saw this, making their eyes lock on one another.
"Well, no one has ever tried to help me before..." he said, finding it very difficult to look away from Seunghyun for even one split second. "...so, probably not."
"Huh," Seunghyun replied, being the first one to break the long eye contact. He finished the last tiny sip of his drink and rose from the couch before placing it in the stainless steal sink in the kitchen. "Come here," he said, stopping for only a few moments in order to catch Jiyong's attention. It did indeed, and Jiyong quickly got up from the couch and followed Seunghyun to a room down the hall.
"You can sleep in here," he said just as Jiyong had stepped both of his feet inside. "I'll go grab some extra blankets and pillows for you," he added before he left the room, leaving Jiyong standing alone and awkwardly. He came back a minute later with exactly what he had said earlier and set them on the bed before letting out a small gust of air.
"I know this isn't usually what happens during your, uh, appointments or whatever you call them," Seunghyun said, "but I hope this is at least a little bit okay." He looked at Jiyong with hopeful eyes and Jiyong couldn't help but nod his head in response.
"N-No," he said, looking at the bed. "This is probably better than what I usually get." Seunghyun chuckled a little at the younger's words.
"Okay, well, you can use as many of those as you like and I'll just get the extra in the morning," Seunghyun said, changing the subject.
"Okay," Jiyong said. He was still very confused and suspicious, but the bed looked more comfortable than his own and if he could get at least a couple of hours of quality sleep in and still leave with some money, he wasn't going to question anything.
"Alright well, good night," Seunghyun said before leaving the room again, shutting the door behind him.
