Conquering the Storm
05:16, 6 October 2025It was the next day at school, the late afternoon sun streamed softly through the window, casting long shadows across the empty classroom. Mike sat on a desk, elbows on his knees, eyes fixed on the floor. Eleven stood nearby, watching him quietly, sensing something heavy in the air.
Mike finally looked up, voice trembling. "El, there's a reason I asked you to meet me here... there's something I need to tell you. And it's... really hard for me to...explain."
Eleven stepped closer, concern knitting her brows, "You can tell me anything, Mike."
He took a deep breath, swallowing the lump in his throat, "I... I have feelings for Will. More than just friends."
Eleven's eyes widened, but she didn't say anything. She just waited.
"Can I...kiss you...? I just need to figure out...what I feel..." Mike asks, looking at Eleven with hopeful eyes.
Eleven nods and leans in towards Mike, resting a hand on his cheek and capturing his lips in her own. Mike pulls away after a moment.
Mike's voice breaks as he speaks, "I thought I wanted this...but I don't feel that way anymore. I don't feel anything...like a spark is missing..."
Eleven's face softened, and she reached out gently, brushing a loose strand of hair from his forehead, "I understand..."
Mike looked up at her, eyes glossy, "I'm so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you."
Eleven hesitated, then pressed another soft, lingering kiss to his lips. It was tender but there was no fire, no spark. When she pulled back, she looked into his eyes with quiet understanding, "It's okay, Mike. I want you to be honest with yourself. And with me."
Mike nodded, tears slipping down his cheeks, "I think... I think we should break up."
Eleven smiled sadly, her hand slipping into his, "I agree. We both deserve to find what makes us whole."
Mike squeezed her hand, heart heavy but relieved, "I think I want Will..."
Eleven gave a small, encouraging nod, "Then you have to find your way to him."
They sat in silence for a moment, two friends saying goodbye to something beautiful but not meant to be, both knowing it was the first step toward something real.
This is right, this feels right
