Po's Dad and Jombies

Me and Po were at our dad's shop. Po was bathing in the alley behind the shop while I was washing the dishes. I wasn't paying attention until there was cheering. I sensed someone was eating a bunch of dumplings for the Dumpling Eating Contest. I assumed it was Po until he came running through the door.

"Who's eating my dumplings?" Po asked.

"And who's paying for them?" Dad asked.

"......100, 101, 102!" The crowd cheered.

"One hundred and three!" The newcomer yelled, muffled. "Yay! Is that a new record?"

"Who are you?" Po asked shocked. The newcomer muffled a response but when we couldn't hear he swallowed the dumplings.

"I'm Li Shan. I'm looking for my son." The newcomer said. I walked over to dad and nudged him.

"Who is he?" I whispered.

"He's a panda." Dad said in shock. My eyes widened and I turned in the direction of the new panda.

"You lost your son?" Po asked.

"Yes. Many years ago." Li said.

"I lost my father." Po admitted.

"I'm very sorry." Li said.

"Thank you." Po replied. It was silent for a moment before Li spoke again.

"Well, good luck to you."

"You too. I hope you find your son." Po said.

"And I hope you find your father." Li replied. I sensed Li start to leave and I facepalmed with the crowd. Suddenly Li and Po turned around and stared in shock at each other. "Son?" Li gasped. "Oh, my gosh, it is you!" Po just stood wheezing and staring in disbelief causing Li to chuckle. "Well, don't just stand there! Give your old man a hug." Po and Li then gave each other a hug and the crowd cheered. Li then said something and Po stepped away from him.

"Uh, this is very embarrassing, but I think you've got me confused with a panda named Lotus? My name is Po." Po said awkwardly.

"Oh, right, you wouldn't know-Okay, see, Little Lotus was the name you were given at birth." Li explained.

"Really?" Po gasped.

"Really!" Li laughed.

"I can't believe it. After all these years. And you're really here? This is amazing!" Po rambled excited. "Oh, Dad! Come say hi to, um- I don't know-I don't know what I'm supposed to call you." Po stuttered as me and Dad walked over to Po and Li.

"I'm pretty sure he said his name is Li." Dad said. I could tell he wasn't happy with finding out Po's real dad was here.

"You. Come here!" Li said and he pulled Dad into a hug. "Thank you. Thank you for taking such good care of my son."

"Your son?" Dad asked in disbelief. "Now, hold on just a minute. How do we know this...stranger is even related to you?" Dad asked as he got out of the hug.

"Look at that." Li said and I sensed him and Po comparing their stomachs. "Our bellies could be brothers! Hey, son, let me teach you how to belly gong." Li said and him and Po started hitting their stomachs together. Po and Li then started getting a picture painted together.

"But I still don't understand. I thought Po was the only panda left." Dad interrupted. I was thinking the same thing.

"Oh, no, there's a whole bunch of us." Li said.

"Where?" Po asked excited.

"A secret panda village in the mountains." Li whispered to Po but I heard it.

"A secret panda-" Po started to yell excitedly before being shushed by Li. "But how did you know where I was?" Po whispered.

"I received a message that led me here." Li said but Dad interrupted again.

"How could you receive a message if no one could find you? Sounds suspicious to me." I could sense that the crowd narrowed their eyes at Li.

"No, it was a message from the universe." Li said causing the crowd to gasp.

"Rats." I heard Dad mutter.

"Now, what's all this about a Dragon Warrior?" Li asked.

"How did you know I was a Dragon Warrior? Did the universe tell you that, too?" Po gasped.

"No, the poster did. And the gift shop. I bought a tiny cup." Li explained.

"Oh, right! Of course!" Po chuckled. "You have no idea. There's so much to show you! Your gonna be so awesomely proud! Come on! Come on!" Po said and I sensed him drag Li away with the crowd following.

"I'm already awesomely proud." Dad said sadly.

"It's all right, Dad. I'm still here." I said as I rested my wing on his shoulder.

"Your not gonna have family come out of no where and take you, too, are you?" Dad asked worried.

"No, you don't have to worry about that. Both my birth parents are dead. Besides, my family is right here." I said giving him a hug and motioning to the village.

~~~~~~~~I flew to the palace and stepped through the doors. I clicked my beak and gasped at the sight. The Hall of Heroes was in a mess. Everything that was on pedestal's were off and littered around the room. I look over and saw Po standing nervously in front of Shifu and the Five while Li, dressed in the Flying Rhino Armor, was softly hitting Po, not yet seeing the others. Po finally got Li's attention and Li tossed a mace away that was about to smash the Urn of Whispering Warriors but I quickly flew over and saved the Urn.

"Guys, guys! You're never gonna guess who just showed up. Not in a million years. You guys, you just try-" Po stammered before Shifu and the Five cut him off.

"Your father!"

"Whoa! How did you just guess that?" Po asked shocked before realization hit. "Oh, wait a second. Yeah, of course. We look exactly the same. Dad, say hi to my friends. Mantis, Tigress, Monkey, Crane, and Viper." Po introduced while I walked over to stand next to Shifu. "They're kind of my best friends." Po whispered to Li. "And this....this is Mast Shifu. Legend. And my sister, Hana. She's the other Dragon Warrior."

"Uh, it is an honor to meet you, Master Panda. Perhaps your father would care to join us in the training hall?" Shifu questioned. "Your son while be teaching the class." At that everyone groaned.

"I'm sure he's tired. I'm sure your tired." Po interrupted, not wanting to teach a class again. "He's tired. I'm gonna show him to the Chrysanthemum Suite."

"What? Tired? No, I'm fine. I would love to watch you teach." Li said.

"Trust me, it'll be more fun to watch me—" Po tried to convince Li before being interrupted by the gong ringing. "Fight!"

"What is that?" Li asked.

"The Valley's under attack!" Tigress explained. Me, Shifu, and the Five then took off to the valley to stop whoever was attacking the valley. I clicked my beak and was surprised to see these green people.

"Enemies of justice! Prepare for war!" Po yelled before face-planting the roof and bouncing off. We stopped fighting and stared in shock at where Po was before continuing to fight. "What's the deal with the green guys?" Po asked as he climbed up onto the roof.

"Some kind of jade zombies." Tigress explained.

"Jade zombies?" Po asked.

"Jombies! Jinx!" Po and Monkey yelled. I sensed Po get punched into the roof before he gasped.

"Whoa! I recognize these guys!" Po yelled, talking about the two guys me and Crane were fighting together. "The Master Badger Twins, with their Crushing Double Gong technique!" Po said before the Badger Twins hit him with that move. "Ow! Yeah! That's the one. And that guy is-No! Master Porcupine!" Po was talking about the guy Shifu was fighting.

"I thought he died a hundred years ago." Monkey said as I sensed him save Po from Master Porcupine's attack.

"These guys are legend!" Po gasped excitedly. I then sensed that Po was knocked off the roof by Master Porcupine and we followed him to Dad's shop and fought in the yard. Li kept worrying about Po, and calling him Lotus, while we fought. Po then stuffed a bunch of dumplings in his mouth, and with the help of Viper and Tigress, shot the dumplings at the Jombies. We then tackled the jade Masters to the ground and stood on them. We were shocked when a voice started talking to us from the Jade Masters.

"I see you. Your chi will soon be mine."

"Is he talking to me?" Po asked.

"Which one? They're all talking." Tigress pointed out.

"Whoa! You're right. That's so scary. We should try that, too. Maybe it'd be scary back at them." Po suggested.

"Okay, but we gotta plan what we're gonna say first. Otherwise, it won't be scary, it'll just be stupid." Mantis said.

"It's not them talking, you idiots! It's me talking through them! Kai!"

"Who?" We asked confused.

"Okay, okay, okay. Enough." This 'Kai' person said before the Jade Masters disappeared.

"Did you see that? This green smoke-just poof. And then, poof. Shifu, what was that?" Po rambled.

"Kai........Kai........Kai! Nope, never heard of him." Shifu shrugged. We then went back to palace and started searching through scrolls in the library. "Kai......Kai.....where is it? There's so much wisdom in here, I can't find anything! Yes!" Shifu cheered before he landed on a desk. "Behold. All the answers will be found within." Shifu then opened then opened the scroll he was holding. "What? It's blank? Are you kidding me? Not again!"

"Why are all the scrolls blank?" I groaned.

"Wait, wait, hold on. Sorry. Oh, okay. Here we go. It is written in Oogway's hand. 'Long ago, I had a brother.'" Shifu started to read.

"Oogway had a brother?" Monkey asked.

"'In arms. In arms.' Sorry. He says, 'Brother in arms.'" Shifu added.

"Maybe you should unroll it all at once?" Mantis suggested.

"'I was an ambitious young warrior....leading a great army. And fighting by my side was Kai, my closest friend. One day, we were ambushed. I was badly wounded. My friend carried me for days, looking for help, until we came to a secret village, high in the mountains. An ancient place of healing. A village of pandas.'" Shifu read before being interrupted by Po.

"Pandas?" He gasped.

'Yes, pandas! Pandas who used the power of chi to heal me. They taught me how to give chi. Oh, but Kai wanted the power all to himself. He saw that what could be given could also be taken. I had to stop him. Our battle shook the earth, until, finally, I banished Kai to the Spirit Realm. Should he ever return to the mortal realm, he can only be stopped......by a true master of chi.'" Shifu finished reading.

"True master of chi? Like you!" Po yelled and I sensed him pointing at Shifu.

"Me? I can barely make a flower bloom. I'd need at least 30 more years and a cave!" Shifu shot down.

"We need a chi master!" Viper said.

"He will continue stealing the chi of masters until he has consumed it all!" Shifu warned.

"We have to think of a way to stop him." Viper said.

"He'll get more and more powerful with every master he defeats!" Crane said while wrapping a wing around me in worry causing me to do the same.

"There is no choice. We fight." Tigress said.

"I can teach you, son." Li said to Po. We gasped and turned to Li.

"You can do this?" Po asked shocked.

"Of course. I'm a panda." Li said.

"That must be why the universe sent you here! Okay, so what do I have to do?" Po asked.

"You have to come with me." Li said.

"What?!" Me and Dad asked.

"To the secret village?" Po asked.

"Yes, son. You must rediscover what it is to be a panda. You have to learn to live like a panda, sleep like a panda, eat like a panda. Those 103 dumplings? I was just warming up." Li explained.

"I've always felt like I wasn't eating up to my full potential." Po said.

"No, you can't take Po away from me! No, no, I want a second opinion." Dad said as he stood between Po and Li.

"I don't think Po should go." I spoke up, taking Dad's side.

"I think he should go." Shifu said.

"Monkey? Viper? Tigress?" Dad said while looking around the room.

"Dad, you heard what Shifu said Oogway said. This guy can only be stopped by a master of chi, and I can only master chi by knowing who I really am. Well, I'm a panda." Po said. I heard Dad sigh before sensing him start walking off.

"I'll pack your lunch for the road." Dad said and walked out. After Po and Li were ready we watched them leave from the top of the stairs of the palace.

"Do you really think Po can master chi in time?" Viper asked.

"It doesn't matter what I think. It only matters what the universe thinks." Shifu said.

"So, that's a 'no'?" Mantis asked.

"Master, what are we going to do?" Crane asked.

"You are going to find out where Kai is." Shifu said. "Follow the trail of those jade creatures, but do not engage, for, with every foe he faces, Kai becomes stronger."

"Why me? Is it because I asked?" Crane asked.

"No, it is because you can fly. Hana, go with him. Now, go!" Shifu said.

"Should've kept your beak shut." Mantis laughed.

"And take Mantis." Shifu added.

"What? Oh, man! Is it because I-?" Shifu cut Manits's complaint off.

"Yes." Me and Crane turned to each other and nodded before taking off, following the trail of the jade Masters.
