Chapter 41
03:49, 10 December 2021Alexa's POV
I honestly believe that Sasuke is becoming more and more comfortable staying in my place. This freeloader brat. He hasn’t even gone back to his house for a whole week.
He eats what he wants, goes out to train at fucking 4 in the morning, not like I’m still surprised, then he comes back at 9 pm barging through the front door like he owns the place while all bruised and tattered for training too hard, and finally he either goes straight for a quick shower or just dumps his body on my bed, knocked out in two seconds.
“What do I do with this kid..?”
The sound of water splashing on the floor echoed all over the room as I pack my pouch with various tools.
I heard the door of the bathroom opening and I turned around to see Sasuke drying his hair with the towel on top of his head. A white towel draped around his waist for some decency. But, it doesn’t change the fact that his toned chest and abs were clearly displayed before me.
This boy was getting more and more audacious and bold since he began staying in my place without my permission.
There were plenty of times I slept next to him. Others nights, I don’t even get a blink of sleep to complete the missions I was assigned at. Joining the Anbu was a reckless move but, its safe since Danzo won’t spread that I was the one who killed the Sandaime in his sleep.
Frankly, in his point of view, the Third Hokage’s assassination was in his favor for he doesn’t have to dirty his hands. Thinking about it, how did that geezer managed to stay alive after using the Death Reaper’s Seal?
Wait, did he even used it in the first place?
“What are you thinking about? You seem distracted.”
I raised my head to realize Sasuke was already in front of me.
I just shrugged my shoulders and put on a smile. “Nothing, just thinking about this and that.”
Smacking him on his shoulder he instantly flinched before giving me a glare. “What was that for?”
“Just hurry up and change. Breakfast’s ready.”
He looked down at his body before taking his attention back to me. “Why? It’s not like you’ve only seen me like this once.”
Crossing my arms, I sighed in distress. “Because we’re getting used to it.”
I saw the corner of his lips curve up in to a smirk. “Oh? Why don’t you just say seeing me like this gets you all distracted and flustered.”
What did he just say? I blinked my eyes at him.
“You’re aware that you are minor, right?”
He tilted his head to the side. “What wrong with that? Anyway you’re a minor too.”
“I’m older than I look.”
“We’re of the same age.”
He gave me a blanck stare and I sighed once again before taking my white yukata.
“Don’t let looks fool you Sasuke, especially in a few weeks.”
With that I walked out of my room hearing him ask another question. “You’re not gonna have breakfast with me?”
“Nah! I need to go somewhere! Later!”
As soon as I opened the door, oh how I wished I didn’t open it.
“You seem well.”
My day would have been better if he didn’t show up.
“Ohayo Kyuuji-sensei, you seem late today. You’re usually earlier.”
“Is that so? You’re quite observant to notice.”
We both locked our doors at the same time before I walked beside him down the halls.
“Well last night was quite turbulent since Shikaku-san dumped all the paper works on me.”
I looked at him as we went down the stairs. He’s also in charge of helping organize the village? What’s this? How could I not be aware of it? However, if I were to be a part of the Hokage’s aides then I would be able to grasp heavy information.
“Eh? I thought you were out drinking with the other teachers.”
Ahhh. Now that I’ve said it I wished I could drink some beer.
He raised an eyebrow as he pointed at himself. “Do I look like someone who attend those activities?”
“Hm. Are you not?”
He scratched the back of his neck before rocking his head from side to side. “Well the others invited me. How did you know?”
“I’ve heard from Sasuke that the adults were out drinking last night. Well its fair enough since you need to let out your stress sometimes. Afterall, adults can’t freely express themselves like kids, right sensei?”, I clasped my hand behind my back as we reached the streets seeing new buildings around.
Wow. That was fast. The sun was still shy to come out but, we could already see its faint glow that lightly lit up the blue sky.
“You know what?”, I tilted my head to the side at his question. “You talk like a real adult sometimes.”
I stared at the ground, lightly kicking small rocks and pebbles out of the way.
“I was already an adult when I graduated from the academy.”
He tapped me once again on the head with the back of his book. Sheesh, why does he have to hit me every time?
“You should think like other kids. You’re too mature for your age.”
Like I can do that.
My hands rubbed the spot he lightly hit me before grinning. “Right? I should right? I have to enjoy my life as much as I want while I can.”
After all I have already decided, I’m not staying here any longer.
My body feels so light that I feel like I’m floating in air. I skipped a step and twirled my body around, before looking back at him.
“Life is too beautiful to waste. Don’t you think so too, Kyuuji-sensei?”
……….
“It’s too beautiful to pluck it out, don’t you think so too, Kyuuji-nii?”
……….
His eyes widened slightly before he gave me a gentle gaze adorned with a gem-like smile. It was a smile that revealed a fragment of his bitter-sweet life.
“Yes, you’re right, Lhexi.”
For some reason, as I stare back at his captivating hazel eyes, the emotionless side of him faded away revealing his scarred heart that have long lost hope wanting to cherish love once again.
……….
“Yes, you’re right, Asuna-hime.”
……….
If I were going to leave anyways, I need to give a proper goodbye.
The blue sky managed to escape from the gloomy black clouds. I lay down a couple flowers I bought on the way here as I read the names of my friends engraved on the stone.
“You’re looking better than I’ve expected, Lhexi.”
My ears perked up at the familiar lazy tone accompanied by a hint of tiredness.
“It’s a good day after all, Kakashi-sensei. And we ninjas don’t have enough time to be gloomy and sad all the time, right?”
He walked up the small stairs and offered the flowers in his hands, placing it beside mine.
“You’re rather cheerful today for someone who lost another one of her teammates in such a short time.”
That hit a patched-up spot in my heart. Why did he say something like that out of the blue? Did he do it on purpose? Is he trying to irritate me?
“I don’t understand quite well the reason why you’re in a foul mood so early.”
“I assume you’ve been too busy with your new line of work that you didn’t even came up to check Naruto.”
What the hell does he mean by that?
“Kakashi-sensei--!”
“Starting from today you are under a prohibitory surveillance regarding your actions from the past few days. “, I took a step back as I try to regain my composure.” Lhexi, I hope that you haven’t forgotten about what you did to Naruto a week ago.”
“Conducting such a dangerous jutsu especially to Naruto without proper guidance nor consent from one of the jonins is considered to be a crime.”
“W-what?”
All this information is too hard to swallow.
“You’re stripped of your current status as a kunoichi for a while.”
“W-wait isn’t that too abrupt?”
He sighed before his shoulders that were so stiff moments ago suddenly droop down as he scratch the back of his neck.
“Maahh… That was what I needed to say. I guess we’re done.”
What the hell is happening?!
“Sorry for startling you back there.”
My head feel limp and he gave me a chuckle. What the hell? Is he pulling a joke or something?
“You’re the worst sensei…”, I grumbled.
“But, to be honest that would have been the scenario if the elder council get to know about this. I guess it’s a given that Naruto has such an adaptive body that he wouldn’t die even after losing so much chakra.”
Oh right…More than a week ago, I took a lot of Naruto’s chakra because I was desperate to save myself and I wasn’t on my right state of mind at that time. If it wasn’t for that Yamanaka Anbu who could ease my mental state, I would’ve been done.
“Just how did you do that? Absorbing his chakra? And how did your body even manage to withstand that insane amount of chakra?”
I looked away fiddling with my fingers, whispering a word under my breath.
He placed his hand behind his ear emphasizing me to repeat it louder. “What? I couldn’t hear it?”
I took a deep breath before giving him a blank stare.
“Kissing.”
“Eh?”
His ears began to glow a faint of red as his cheeks blush pink.
Are you kidding me right now? I know this guy is a bachelor but, to think he would be flustered over two kids kissing each other concerns me.
“Ka…kashi-sensei?”
His abrupt silence sends me shivers.
“Really?”
“Hm. Really.”
“NANIIII?!”, He gave a dramatic shocked expression as he walks backwards. He turned around taking something out of his pocket, I couldn’t see what it was but, I could hear what he was doing. “I believe it was page 69 …”
I glared furiously at his back before I smacked my face, I shouldn’t have said that in the first place.
“Oh found it! This was a side story about two teenagers deep in love, I want to let you borrow it from me to give you some tips but, I guess you’re still too young to read this.”
A little, yes a little infuriation added to my boiling blood, I might just snap.
“WE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!”
I did it.
“Oh?”, he immediately hid away his orange perverted book before coughing as he look away. “But, to think my precious students are no longer innocent…”
My eyes twitched aggressively in annoyance as I cracked my fingers, my face giving a forced smile. “I told you we didn’t do anything…! And what lewd things were you thinking about, you closet pervert?!”
I guess I was too flustered and embarrassed to chase him around the village but, I lost sight of him immediately after.
He left me lost in the middle of the crowd and I’m more than itching to give him a punch today. I ran as fast as I can trying to just catch a glimpse of him. I turned into a corner accidentally brushing my shoulder against someone else’s.
“Ah- Gomenasai!”
I was supposed to leave after the man’s response but, I was glued on the floor the moment he replied.
“It’s fine.”
It was deep and mysterious just like the ocean yet, it felt quite familiar like I have heard of it before. The moment I turned around, that man was gone like the wind.
After a few minutes of searching around, I finally found him reading his usual book by the pole, for one moment we locked eyes. He gave me an annoying eye smile before he ran away.
We eventually had to rest to regain our breaths, especially mine. Sensei seem to be not faltering a bit as he rests his back against the wooden wall of the Dango shop.
He was giving a slouched posture but, the way I felt his extremely perfect focus behind his facade made me think that something was going on.
“You called Kakashi?”, I turned to the side to see Asuma-sensei accompanied by Kurenai-sensei walking towards our direction.
“You’re here too, Lhexi-chan.”, the woman gave me a small smile.
One that I’ve seen before.
……….
“So, you were hiding here, Asuna-hime.”
……….
“You did take your time dating.”, Kakashi-sensei implied as the two blushes.
“We’re not dating, for your information. Looks like you already visited Obito.”
Obito? That name sounds familiar. Where could I have…?! Damn it, I can’t remember!
Sensei gave a close eyed smile followed by a serious expression. “Mah. Lhexi was with me. Right?”
Judging from there stiff movements and forced conversations, something was definitely susupicious. Can’t they be less obvious than this?
I have to go with the flow. “Yup.” I forced a smile, something which looks genuine this time. I knew it I should have been an actress in my last life. “But, Asuma-sensei, Kurenai-sensei, everyone already knows you guys are dating.”
They both got red, even if they were acting, it looks too real to be one.
“W-w-w-what?!”
“Aw c’mon! Only people who have been living under the rock wouldn’t realize.”, I giggled at my own antics and I could mentally hear sensei praising me for it.
Asuma-sensei fake coughed before giving intent to his words. “They’re here, right?”
Kakashi-sensei nodden in return.
I badly wanted to ask who they are but, there was not a need to after I saw Sasuke.
Everything clicked right afterwards.
“What’d you call me here for, Kakashi?”, he asked as soon as he appeared. “It’s rather unusual for you to arrive first.”
I kept my hands from pulling the roots of my hair as I finally feel the shallow presence of the two criminals.
“To treat you some dango…?”, he gave an awkward chuckle after that.
Sasuke gave a quick look at the dango before immediately replying. “I don’t like sweets.”
“Oh? That’s a shame.”, was all sensei could reply at the moment with Itachi’s presence who was only a few feet away.
I walked towards Sasuke, tugging on his hem lightly but, not before giving sensei an obvious signal. He perked up at that, looks like he also realized I knew what was going on.
“You said you’d treat me to takoyaki…”, my voice was small and gentle as I repeatedly tugged on his clothes.
Damn it. Why do I have to force myself to be cute right now?!
He looked at me, blinking his eyes once before asking. “What the hell are you doing?”
I turned stiff like rock the next moment as I slowly crumble to piece. Ahhh, I hope the earth would open up and swallow me whole.
“And why are you grabbing my clothes?”
Dude don’t you know, this is the infamous hem-pulling, it’s supposed to make boys weak for this.
Oh right. Sasuke is not like other boys.
Freaking embarrassing.
“Sor--”
“Hold my hand instead.”
Smooth. That was smooth.
Before I knew it, he had my fingers interlocked with his as he pulls me away from the vicinity.
But, Sasuke only if you knew that your brother is watching us. You’re supposed to be a self-centered and egoistic kid so why are you so open up to me?! What If Itachi sees me as a distraction to your revenge?! Are you getting me killed?!
“Right, wanna eat something today, like some snacks?”, I asked.
“Hn. We’ve always been eating foods I like. Maybe eating something of your preference would be great.”
My eyes widened for split second before I smiled. So, this boy cares afterall. “Hm. Let’s do that.”
My heart skipped a beat as he gave me a genuine smile. A part of me wanted to believe that it was probably because of this developing body’s hormones and another part of me wished those were my real feelings.
A/N
Yo guys!
So, I was thinking of changing the title 'cause it sounds redundant to me if compared with other stories. Honestly I just decided that on a whim.
Please vote among these options.
A. Seishi - (Life and Death)
B. Zen'aku - (Good and Evil)
C. Akuto - (Villain)
D. Silent Madness
E. Ocean Eyes
Type F if you wanna keep the current title.
I know these titles aren't badass so, you have the free will to suggest a new one.
