Chapter 2

09:51, 29 July 2024

The bell rang, leaving Yoongi alone in the classroom. He was too shy to interact with people. He had no choice but to stay inside. But to his surprise, the door flew open.

"Hey Yoongi! Let's go to the cafeteria. Don't let your seat savor your crusty musty ass," Jennie said jokingly.

They can say things like this inside?

Yoongi got up from his seat as they left the classroom.

The hallway was decorated with saints and rosaries hanging on the crosses. As they entered the cafeteria, Yoongi scanned his eyes around, looking for the food counter. Students were lining up perfectly as they joined in.

"So, what made you transfer here? I heard you got into Seoul National High School? What brings you here?" Jennie asked as she fished a bubble gum from her pocket and ate it.

"Was caught smoking, so they kicked me out, hahaha."

"You really have the guts to laugh?" Jennie asked amusingly. "CUZ SAME!"

Yoongi looked at her with wide eyes.

With that innocent face?

"W-what?"

"Gorl, I almost got kicked out here for smoking. But they decided to keep me instead since they were lacking students. They just basically made me write my name on the blackboard 100 times," she said casually.

Yoongi could only nod; he was too shocked to even process it. He wondered why on earth a student would misbehave in a Catholic school.

"Hello? Pizza or chicken fillet?" The cafeteria lady asked with a bored tone.

"Pizza."

"Chicken fillet it is..." The lady said with a playful tone while putting the fillet on his tray.

He wanted to complain but couldn't. This was a new place to him. He was... afraid? First time.

He could only walk away, go to the paying counter, and pay for his meal. But when he cupped his pocket, it was empty. "Fuck," he muttered under his breath.

"Still accepting cards as payment, Mrs. Nari?" A familiar voice behind him spoke. He looked up to see the boy again.

What was his name again? Oh right, Jimny? Jinim? Jimmy?

"Yes, sir," the lady said as Jimin swiped his card on the machine and looked at Yoongi. He hitched. He got nervous in his presence.

"Stop staring, I paid for your meal already," Jimin said, leaving him dumbfounded.

What the hell just happened?

Jimin, on the other hand, went to see his group after paying for Yoongi's meal. "Wow, you're back slow pants," Hoseok said, rolling his eyes since Jimin was too slow. He had begged Jimin to buy him kimchi at the food counter. Lots of begging until he finally gave in.

"Oh shut up, you lazy rat," Jimin said with an annoyed tone, hiding his smile.

"Where's Yungmin?" Seokjin butted in. He was curious where Yungmin was since the bell was about to ring, but he was not in sight.

Jimin wandered his eyes to look for him and stopped when he spotted him. He was talking to Yoongi? Confusion was written on his face but he quickly erased it when Yungmin came to their table.

"Ooooh~ who was that? Was that your little boyfriend~?" Jungkook said playfully with a grin on his face.

"Bitch, he's my brother."

"What?!?!" The whole group screamed.

"That transferee's your brother? How come we didn't know that you had a brother?" Jin exclaimed.

"How could I bring him up? He's a pain in the ass," Yungmin said casually as he took a sip from Jungkook's banana milk.

"Bitch, that's mine." Jungkook glared at him, letting out a pout.

"Drink mine instead." Taehyung offered his strawberry milk, which made Jungkook pull a disgusted face.

"Disgorsting shet," he said with an accent as the whole group laughed.

"Oh yeah, Jimin. Here's the money that I owe you," Yungmin said, reaching for his wallet, which made Jimin furrow his eyebrows.

"What money?"

"You paid for my brother's meal." And with that, the whole group let out an "OOoOOOoOOoOh~ Jimin's paying a meal for a boOoooOooy!"

"Shut up. Don't sweat it, Yungmin. I just thought he forgot his wallet, so I insisted on paying."

"Heh, suit yourself." Yungmin shrugged and let go of his wallet.

Jimin was always generous, but also a bitch at times. He eyed the other boy who was just eating casually with one of his classmates.

"So Yungmin, how did Yoongi got here? I mean, I heard he was in KNHS?" Seokjin says, curious. Jimin almost thanked him for questioning that since he was really dying to know something about Yoongi's background. Jimin took Jungkook's banana milk and took a sip, the said boy could only glare at the older.

"Was caught smoking." Yungmin casually says as he took a bite on his apple, but as soon as he said that, Jimin choked on his drink.

"What?"

"I said he was-"

"I heard you but why the hell would he do that?"

"I don't know, man. Ask him hahaha."

Jimin let out a huff.

How the hell would someone ruin their health just like that?

"No, thanks."

"Whew, Jimin's acting like he doesn't smoke~" Hoseok says chuckling between his words as the whole group laughed.

"I quitted a month ago, you cancerous asshole." Jimin fights back as they again laughed. How ironic.

As soon as Yoongi arrived in his apartment, he let his lean body fall onto his bed. He was too tired to even scroll shits on TokTik.

"I have to find a job soon," said himself.

Once Yoongi turned 18, he had to move to an apartment since he was dying to leave his parents alone. Not that he don't love them, but he was just tired of them being on his ass all the time. His parents still pay half of his tuition though.

That's why he needed a job for him to pay for his apartment and the other half of his tuition. His family were not that rich, but not that poor either, they're something in between. Albeit the status, they loved Yoongi with all their heart. But would they love him still if they knew he was gay?

He decided to scroll on Instantgram and Facebonk, he wanted to search for a job there, most preferably near his apartment since he cannot afford transportation fees.

While scrolling, his eyes spot a job offering at a café, probably 15-20 mins away from his apartment.

"Bingo,"

He hurriedly get his door keys and cellphone and headed out.

***

"Welcome to Chim's Café! How may I help you?"

The café wasn't like any other café that is small and cheap. This one was big, it was a two-storey building and the aesthetics were very pleasing in the eye, was picturesque to be exact.

"U-uhm, I saw your job offering at Facebonk, was wondering if I could apply?" He asks the cheerful lady, probably in her 50's.

"You have a résumé?" A stern voice budges in, a girl in her 20's

And with that, Yoongi frozed. He had not prepared a résumé since he didn't think he needed it.

"Shut it, Minji. Don't scare the poor boy! Of course you can! Do you know the basics? Like making a coffee and you know, talking to people?" The lady in her 50's asked while Yoongi nodded.

Doing coffees weren't a big deal for him especially when it's taught with patience.

"Great! You can start monday!" She cheerfully says and went in the back, probably to get something. She came back with clothes packed with plastics, was wrapped in a string.

"These are your uniform! Pink Monday, Red Tuesday, White Wednesday, Brown Thursday, Blue Friday. Rest days are Saturday and Sunday. Come in 5:30-10:30!" She says smiling whereas Yoongi smiled back and grabbed the materials.

He thanked them and exited the shop.

"Well, that was easy?"

*******

I had to change Yoongi's age since it doesn't fit in the book. I changed it to 19!
