Chapter 17

01:05, 14 December 2017

Hux POV

Last thing I remembered was passing out shortly after the stormtroopers arrived to evacuate me. Now I find myself in a medical bed in the infirmary aboard a star destroyer.

I was shirtless, bandages wrapped around my torso to cover the wound Kylo left on me. The arm that was graced by the lightsaber was also bandaged over the injured area. An IV needle was in my wrist pumping fluids and wonderful pain medication into my body. I don't feel much of anything right now but at least I'm in one piece.

A nurse entered my room. "General Hux, you have a visitor."

I let out an exasperated sigh. That's the last thing I wanted, some whiny officer pretending to be concerned to make a better name for himself. Best get it done and over with. "Send him in."

Much to my surprise, it wasn't anyone who I would have expected. I quickly gathered my scattered brain from the pain medication to not make a fool out of myself. "Supreme Leader Snoke."

The man, if you wish to call him a man, entered the room and nodded his head for greeting. The nurse shut the door and gave us our peace. "General Hux. I see you are recovering well."

Am I? I haven't received any reports from the doctors. "Yes, but I still have some ways to go I'm sure."

"Indeed," Snoke said, sitting down in one of the visitor's chairs. With his golden robe and the aura of a leader, he made the ordinary chair a throne. "But I am not here to discuss your health. There are more important tasks at hand."

"Such as, is the Finalizer still in one piece?" I inquired still concerned from earlier the ship.

Snoke nodded. "Yes, the fleet was able to defend the star destroyer with little problem. Mark my words General Hux, the First Order just received a major upgrade to its fleet."

I smirked. "Excellent. Have you tracked down Kylo Ren?" I really desired an exact location so I could personally go punch him in the face.

Snoke chuckled, I think. Some noise I suppose could be translated into laughter emitted from his scarred throat. "Kylo Ren was unwise to take the TIE Silencer as his escape vessel. It's tracking beacon is strong and he has momentarily docked at Coruscant."

"So what are we waiting for? Send an army! I want Ren captured and brought back for justice!"

The ominous being stood up and casted it's ugly shadow over me. I shrunk down in bed as he scolded, "Do not command of me what to do, General Hux! Need I remind who is the one in charge of all operations, not just militarily?"

I timidly shook my head. "No, Supreme Leader. My apologies."

"I expect more out of you Hux. This attitude is uncharacteristic."

"It won't happen again, I assure you."

"Let us hope not." Snoke calmed back down and sat in his chair. "As I stated at the temple, I will personally handle Ren myself. All things come in time. I don't want to rush in with a grand army and frighten him just yet...I wish to wait and see what his plans are. As long as he is flying the Silencer, we will be able to track his whereabouts."

"And if he decides to change ships?" I pointed out, knowing Ren all too well.

Snoke shook his head. "He won't with this ship. I gave this to Kylo Ren. He wanted his own fighter so he could assist with the dogfights. It's a possession I know he won't give up."

I wanted to argue but knew better. Ren doesn't get attached to anything...except that stupid girl. "How long do we track him?"

"I will know when it's time to intervene," was all Snoke replied. "For now we just watch and wait."

I sighed. That was a game I was never good at.

Summer POV

Kylo stuck to his word when he said he was going to take care of my back all night. Every couple hours, he applied fresh medication and bandages. He even tried to be extra quiet and gentle as not to disturb my slumber. He cares more than he will ever allow himself to admit. This man is drowning in his own feelings and only I can fish him out.

Morning came and I was surprised to see Kylo gone. Confused by his absense, I gingerly sat upright, groaning softly from my tender back. I limped out of the room and found Kylo in the living area sitting cross-legged on the floor, meditating.

He sensed my presence. "You must have been exhausted. You slept for quite some time."

"I'm can't believe you're up as well," I replied. "You were up aiding me so often last night, I don't know when you slept."

"I'm am rested enough to go on." Kylo finally looked at me. His face still showed fatigue, revealing his lie. "Come. Sit beside me. Meditate. Feel the Force."

I found his tranquil behavior odd since he's basically a ticking time bomb but I just went along with it. I carefully sat down and crossed my legs like him, wincing as the muscles pulled in my back. "I'm not sure if this is the wisest thing for me to do."

"I would not hurt you," Kylo said surprisingly gentle. "You are fine. Your muscles must be used or worse pain will come forth."

I know that from living a month in the infirmary with a hole in my chest but I'm not going to bring that up now.

"Breathe...just breathe...." Kylo instructed.

I did just that and slowly connected to the Force.

I heard him chuckle. "You are a fast learner. Last time I was with you it took a while for you to reach this state. Now it comes more..."

"Naturally?" I finished.

I pictured him nodding "Yes. Most impressive."

I was hesitant to ask but wanted an answer. "Are you...proud of me?"

I noted his pause and repeated the question.

"Summer, why do you ask me this?"

I looked over and our eyes met. "Because I want to know how you feel about me. The whole giving me over to Snoke...it hurt me. It made me feel like I was failing you somehow.  I am strong. I know I am. I can feel I am...I just need your help."

His eyes searched me as if I was testing him.

"I just want to fit into this galaxy," I said. "I'm trying to adjust, trust me it's extremely hard for me. Every day I think about my family, every day I think about us..."

Kylo spoke in a darker tone, his gaze staring out the window. His eyes looked glassy. "Let the past die. Kill it. If you have to. It's the only way to become what you were meant to be.”

Wow. And I mean...WOW. That's some statement. It sent chills down my spine.

It could almost be taken as he was speaking as much to himself as to me. Like he was trying to be convinced by these words.

I just changed the subject. I have no response. "So where are we to go from here?" Please answer normally.

"As of right now, nowhere," Kylo replied, thankfully sounding more human again. "We are to remain here until the threat passes."

My head snapped towards him. "Threat? What threat?"

He merely pointed towards the oversized windows. I only became more confused. I saw nothing but the busy morning of Coruscant. Sun shining bright. Usual traffic.

"What am I supposed to be looking at?" I asked, wondering if I really was missing something.

When he didn't reply, I glanced over at him. "Kylo?"

His gaze remained on the outside. He looked distant, almost mesmerized.

The sun shining in through the windows dimmed and disappeared. The time I glanced outside and let out a small shriek.

A star destroyer was now over the horizon, so large and close to our hotel it completely covered the sun.

I started trembling. "K-Kylo..."

"There is nothing to fear. We are safe here." His voice sounded calm as if there wasn't a problem right outside.

I, instead, felt the need to take action. I carefully got up and stood in front of the window to get a better view of outside. I gasped as shuttles came out of the star destroyer. Once they landed, stormtroopers marched out in squad units. One was heading right into the lobby of the hotel.

I swallowed hard. "Kylo..."

The warrior stood, sensing my panic. He glanced outside and quickly surveyed the area. "A good lesson for you."

"Seriously, I could use your leadership side right now," I said, losing my cool. "Are they allies or enemies?"

"They are our allies but will hurt us like enemies."

"That makes no sense..."

Kylo handed me his lightsaber. "Defend us when the squad comes up." As if on cue, I heard the elevator turn on.

I stared at him like he was insane, which I'm pretty sure lack of sleep has done to him. "What?! Me?! First of all, I'm partially injured. Second, I have no idea how to use this thing!"

"If you were able to do save me on Abregado-rae, you can do it now," was all Kylo replied.

"But-"

"A true Knight of Darkness must be able to face all enemies, no matter what the circumstances," he interrupted. "You have to prepare yourself for when the odds are not in your favor."

"Such as now," I said, my voice shaky. I stared at the heavy hilt in my hand and turned on the weapon. The red beam ignited and growled, ready to kill. But the person in control was not-so-ready.

The elevator stopped outside our door. "I don't want to do this."

"You can, and you will," Kylo ordered.

He's testing me. I see the reason now. But why here? Why when I'm like this? I can barely hold the hilt and now I have to fight a squadron of stormtroopers?

The doors opened and four troopers walked out. They paused at sight of me with the lightsaber out and Kylo standing behind me like a watchful coach.

"Drop your weapon!" one of the stormtroopers cried. He raised his blaster and the other three followed in sync as if animatronic. "Don't move or we will shoot you!"

I glanced back at Kylo. He shook his head to disobey their warning and continue. I swallowed hard and raised the weapon defensively.

The troopers spread out, forming a semicircle around me. "Last chance little lady."

I grew angry at the insult but didn't show it, just keeping the lightsaber in defensive pose.

'Use your anger...it is your strength that powers your weapon.'

I looked back at Kylo, hearing him speak. His mouth never moved. He was communicating through the Force. I relaxed slightly, knowing he had my back after all.

'Don't relax. The enemy feeds off weakness. Use the Force to sense their attack.'

'How?' I replied in my head.

'You will see...'

I couldn't watch all at once. This was a death sentence.

'Close your eyes'

He can't be serious. 'Are you crazy?!'

'Do it or be killed.'

That's about the only option I have right now.

I obeyed, hating to have my eyes off the enemy. I couldn't connect to the Force being unable to calm down.

A shot was fired and I yelped with fright, opening my eyes and jolting the weapon. I couldn't hide the shock on my face at seeing the stormtrooper whom I suspected fired dead. I looked at Kylo. No weapon. The other troopers only seemed more furious.

'Lucky deflection.' Kylo said to me through the Force.

'Wait, I did that-'

I was cut off by another stormtrooper firing and hitting me in the shoulder. I switched hands with the hilt to give the wounded arm some slack but it was stinging like fire.

The stormtroopers were closing in on me, seeing me weakened. I uneasily held up the lightsaber and glanced at Kylo with pleading eyes to help. He shook his head. Oh come on!

Another one fired, thankfully missing.

'You're going to get killed if you don't fight back.'

I groaned in frustration as if I needed to verbally speak my emotions. 'A little help would be nice!'

'I won't be able to assist you forever. Defend yourself.'

Vexation and aggravation built inside me. I'm being being thrown aside to this firing squad and injured on top of it? Does Kylo want me to die so he can just leave me behind? Claim to Snoke that I betrayed him to clear his name?

"I...CAN'T....DO....THIS!" I screamed, throwing my arms down in exasperation. The trio of stormtroopers flew backwards from a gust of wind and smashed into the wall. I blinked, looking at my palms. Did I just do that?

Kylo was now smirking at me. Well I'm glad he's enjoying my suffering.

A shot flew by my head and I took cover behind the sofa, watching the bullets fly through the material and stuffing fall onto my hair. "Help me please!" I begged the man who merely watched for what seemed to be satisfaction.

"You're handling it fine," Kylo replied. Why isn't he getting attacked?

The firing stopped and I heard footsteps approaching the sofa. I pleaded my eyes at him, scared. He only stared back, but I noticed his eyes slightly shift left...

I leaped up and swung the lightsaber, decapitating one stormtrooper. I screamed in horror as his head rolled. The other troopers advanced and fired rapidly. I failed at attempts to block so I just ducked again.

Kylo wants a show? Might as well satisfy him.

A shadow appeared on my right and I jumped out, lancing the trooper's leg and causing him to misfire and fall. I then raised the lightsaber over him but paused before killing. That's not me. I'm not a killer. The other two stormtroopers were accidents but this one...

A blaster rested on the backside of my head. "Drop your weapon traitor scum," the trooper hissed through his helmet.

Something inside me told me to just swing my weapon and slice the man in half then finish the one on the floor but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. This isn't the person I want to turn into.

As soon as I extinguished my weapon, I heard the trigger be pulled. But no shot came.

The stormtrooper was lifted off his feet and into the air by his throat, though not by hands. Kylo, finally intervening, broke his neck then let the dead body slump to the floor. He did the same to the one-legged remaining stormtrooper below me.

Kylo walked up and yanked his weapon from my grip, his tone venom. "Don't ever miss out on a chance to kill or your life will be taken instead!"

I timidly nodded, scared now from his behavior. "Sorry. It won't happen again-"

"It can't because I won't save your next time," he warned walking away.

I exhaled deeply, fighting tears.

"Summer! Now!"

I quickly joined him in the elevator, hating to ask the next question as the doors shut. "What about...you know..."

"The maids will clean up our mess," Kylo replied shortly. "Now we must make our move and leave Coruscant while we can. Once the squad leader discovers his men have been shot dead, he will want an investigation and we can't be here for that."

"They weren't very organized for stormtroopers," I commented. I caught his sideways glare and swallowed hard. "Um, I mean, I'm sure they were just being easy on me, figuring I was a simple target."

"No. You are correct. They didn't act like a normal First Order stormtrooper squadron would," Kylo surprisingly said. "Probably new recruits. Cadets that are in dire need of  more training. I will need to speak with Captain Phasma about this. After the destruction of Starkiller Base, we lost a large majority of our army behind on the planet. Now since General Hux is desperate to have our army regrow, I fear he may be pushing the men through the academy too quickly."

"Then it's both Hux's and Phasma's faults," I said.

Kylo shrugged. An odd thing to see since he always is so posh and aware of himself. Not obsessive like Hux, but formal. "That is to be debated. Right now it does not matter. Our priority is leaving the planet without getting caught."

The elevator finished it's decent and Kylo motioned for me to pause as he glanced outside for any stormtroopers. Seeing the hotel lobby clear, he waved for me to follow him as he took off out of the building.

It was a challenge to keep up with him not because he was fast, because I am athletic myself, but because the congestion of people in panic from the First Order infiltration. Everyone was running in every direction which made Kylo and I move at a slow pace. The crowd started to clear and Kylo suddenly grabbed my hand and yanked it nearly off its socket as he dragged me aside into an alley. He pulled me down behind a dumpster and put a finger to his lips to keep quiet.

A squadron of stormtroopers- and not four of them I mean a real squadron -marched past us. They seemed to go on and on. Rows of white and black uniform blending and marching so well together I couldn't tell them apart. I moved closer to Kylo for protection. He didn't push me away but he didn't comfort me either.

Once the squadron passed, Kylo faced me. His face was close and I felt my heart beating faster from it. He spoke in a hushed tone, which only made his voice more sexy. "Okay, our ship is a few blocks north, right where the squadron came from."

I nodded, partially comprehending.

He rolled his eyes, noticing. "Summer, please pay attention. Once we're away you can melt over me."

I blushed. Hard. "Sorry," I squeaked out.

"I need you and I to work together on this. We can't get caught," he explained. "We can take the alley and then stay close to the buildings, hopefully able to hide in the shadows being cast."

"We would have an advantage if it was nighttime," I pointed out. "We're wearing black so why not wait until tonight?"

"Because we will be caught and we can't stay here any longer," Kylo said, leaving no room for argument. "Just follow me. And please stay close."

Together we went the way he chose, thankfully not gaining any First Order attention yet. We paused again behind a parked speeder. The TIE Silencer was in our sight, the only thing left between us and that was a vast open space filled with stormtroopers standing around waiting for orders.

I swallowed hard, not liking this predicament. "Now what?"

"I can use the Force and clear us a path but you have to run fast," Kylo replied.

"What will keep them from shooting at us?"

"Nothing. That's why you have to run fast."

How comforting.

Kylo jumped over the speeder and thrusted his arms outward, pushing the stormtroopers in every direction, thus clearing a path for us. "Hurry!"

I didn't hesitate, knowing I had a limited time while the troopers were stunned.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, hearing the squadron starting to collect themselves. Blasters fired, shots whizzing by my head. As soon as Kylo and I were up the ramp, he quickly shut it and leaped into the pilot's chair. "Get ready!"

The fighter came alive and shook unnaturally. "Kylo!" I shouted, strapping myself down into the copilot's chair so I don't stumble all over the place.

"I'm trying!" was all he replied. The fighter shook some more as blasters continuously fired. "Raise the shields!"

"Like I know how to do that!" I gripped the chair so hard my knuckles turned white.

"Flip the two adjacent red switches!" He awkwardly raised the fighter, cursing every time it was hit. "They're going to pay dearly for the scratches."

I did as he requested, hoping the switches I touched were correct. There are way too many red switches on this dashboard. "Did it work?"

Kylo smirked as he read the console. "Yes!" Once the TIE Silencer was in the sky he jerked it around and fired repeatedly at the squadrons below, annihilating all who didn't have cover. I didn't find that slaughter necessary since we were now away but I was too freaked out to protest.

He suddenly cursed. "Incoming TIE fighters!"

Kylo whipped the ship around so quickly I felt sick. He bolted away into space, wanting to avoid any more conflict. My eyes blurred and I felt ill, reminding me that motion sickness was still something I dealt with.

"Can we just jump already?" I moaned out, wishing he would hurry up and go into lightspeed.

"Trying to save our skins here!" Kylo snapped.

It was too much happening to process. I saw a star destroyer barricade, then a wave of TIE Fighters coming at us followed by enough maneuvers to make an astronaut puke. Only by luck I haven't yet.

Finally, he jumped into hyperspace right before I passed out, my body unable to handle it. I woke up feeling like no time has passed at all.

"Are we dead..." I moaned.

"Thanks to me, no," Kylo boasted, looking normal. He must be used to flying crazily. "Your welcome."

"I feel awful..."

"Don't even think about vomiting on the Silencer," Kylo threatened. He went back into the tiny mebbay and returned with a shot he stuck into my neck. "That should ease your motion sickness."

The feeling soon left but I still didn't feel one hundred percent. "So we escaped and didn't die, now what do we do? Where are we going?"

Kylo didn't immediately answer. "I don't know yet. Go rest in the back. I can handle the ship from here."

I didn't argue, wanting to sleep off this feeling over everything else. As soon as I hit the cot, I fell asleep.

Kylo POV

The question is something I don't even know the answer for myself: where do we go from here?

We can't return to the Finalizer- well, I maybe could but she can't. Right now I am appearing to be traitorous. I know the way I could clear my name but...what I would have to do...

I looked back at her sleeping body. If I was ever to return, she can't be with me. As in, never again we could be together. It would be a sacrifice I'd have to make, if that's the life I chose.

I took some time to ponder. Is it?

I hated myself for even having to make a decision out of it. There is only one true answer.

I typed the coordinates into the computer on where to go.

It's time.

Summer POV

When I finally woke up, I joined Kylo back in the cockpit. We were still in hyperspace, making me wonder how long I actually slept. I felt so much better than I did beforehand, I didn't care.

"Still traveling eh?" I said as I sat down. "Must be far."

"You weren't out long," Kylo said. "But yes, the destination is far."

"What is that exactly?" I asked.

He pursed his lips. I sensed a gloomy air about him. "I...you will just have to wait and see for yourself."

"Approaching our destination," Kylo announced. "Coming out of hyperspace. Hold on."

I held onto the chair as the stars froze around us and a beautiful planet came into view. Blue and green with lots of clouds and icy caps. "Wow...you know this place looks just like Earth from space," I commented. "What is it called?"

"Earth."

I nearly fell off my chair. "What?"

"You heard me."

"No I don't think I did..."

The Silencer cruised into the atmosphere and down through the clouds. It was nighttime here, strange since on Coruscant it was morning. I was shaking as we approached civilization and familiar territory.

"Disney World..." The words rolled off my lips. "Kylo I don't understand."

Kylo remained silent, of all the times I wished for him to speak.

The Silencer landed in the employee parking lot of Disney's Hollywood Studios, which was currently empty. If I recalled correctly, was this not a former First Order shipyard? Now it looks like a soul never touched it. A bad feeling rose in my stomach. It had nothing to do with motion sickness.

"We must be quick. We are no longer welcome here," Kylo warned, already half out of the ship.

I could barely keep up with him, still in shock from all this. What does this mean? Why did he take me here? Maybe it's a part of my training?

We paused at the back entrance door as Kylo entered a code into a keypad. I looked around the illuminated parking lot, thanks to the gleaming silver moon in the sky. "Maybe I'm just crazy but was this not a landing port for the First Order ships?"

Kylo almost didn't reply then sighed. "There was an incident here. We had to pull our troops out."

I felt embarrassed for asking. "Oh. So no more base here then?"

He looked shocked that I knew but shook his head. "For now, no. General Hux plans on restarting the base up when he feels it's safe."

"Well then it will be his successor since he's dead," I laughed but he didn't laugh back. That was an awkward moment.

Kylo finally got the door open and turned on his lightsaber for use as a flashlight. I stayed close behind him, keeping a hand on his back to not get lost. I'm glad it was dark because I blushed feeling those muscles.

Down through swirling hallways then Kylo led me through the door, which opened into a familiar room. I paused inside, catching eye of a mural of a planet in space. This is Kylo Ren's "interrogation room" for the meet and greet character.

"Keep up Summer," Kylo said holding the exit open.

No problem, this place gives me the creeps in the dark.

The Launch Bay seemed more like a dungeon with no people or lights. We left Kylo's line and passed Chewbacca's, going up a staircase. Through the cantina set and...what is that? BB-8? He has a meet and greet now? How long have I been gone?

From there we passed through rooms filled with displays of Rogue One, which included a Death Star model in the middle, which I bumped into. Kylo rolled his eyes and kept going. The next room had paintings and artwork of the Star Wars saga. The one that followed was the gift shop. What would Disney be without one?

What was weird is how Kylo, who doesn't know his life story was made into a movie, is walking by murals and collectibles of himself. And not just him, but everyone you could name had something with his or her face on it, especially the iconic characters. He passes by as if he's done a hundred times before (which is a scary thought if he's wandered beyond his room, who knows if he's even been out of the park?).

When Kylo led me beyond the gift shop to the outside, I really started to worry.

Up Hollywood Boulevard to the front entrance we went, his red lightsaber dancing shadows off the buildings on the "street".

Finally, Kylo stopped ten feet from the gate. I nearly crashed into him from his abrupt halt. "Okay, can you please explain what the heck is going on? Nothing has made sense since we arrived and I'd like to know the reason why we're even here."

Kylo stared at the exit gates as if they would jump out and attack him. He kept glancing over his shoulder, either cautious or paranoid. I'm guessing both. His eyes finally met mine but I saw pain. "This is the end of our journey."

I raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

"This is the end of our journey," he repeated with emphasis as if giving the sentence meaning.

I waved a finger between us for clarification.

He nodded.

"Are you breaking up with me again? I mean, if you considered us being sort of back together-"

"Summer, I can no longer be your master."

I was even more confused now. "You've already stated that before too and then you kind of accepted me again... What I don't understand is the reason we're here on Earth."

Kylo took a breath. Either I was taxing his patience or the words were hard for him to speak. I'm guessing both. "This is where our journey ends. That means we can no longer be together. As in, physically around each other."

I stepped back, aghast. "You're...abandoning me?"

"Don't take it that way-"

"How else do you expect me to take it?" I fired back at him, my voice raising. "This  makes no sense! Why would you take me away from a life I was living just fine to partially train me and then dump me back off again? Am I that terrible to be around? Or am I too pathetic in your eyes?"

"Would you stop? Security will be on us if you don't keep your voice down," Kylo shushed me. He turned off his weapon and attached the hilt to his belt. "I don't want this any more than you do but it's what best for both of us."

"For both of us or for you? Because it really sounds like for you."

"Summer-"

"Don't start with that tone. I know the tone. The trying to make this a sensible move when you know it's wrong " My eyes were so watery, Kylo looked blurry even though he was a foot away. "Go on just say it."

"You're making this harder than what it should be-"

"Kylo I feel like I've been used and tossed aside like garbage! You expect me to take this easily?"

Kylo suddenly cupped my face and kissed me. I pushed him off. Romance was the last thing on my mind. Only think I wanted to do was smack him. "How dare you kiss me after what you're doing-"

He kissed me again and I tried to push him away but he grabbed my wrists to restrain me. I still fought to get free and he shoved me back against a merchandise stand, pinning me to the counter.

"Stop," he growled. He was breathing hard, as was I.

"This is all fake anyway, why should I take it?" I countered.

"Who says this is fake?"

"If you really loved me you wouldn't be doing abandoning me."

"Just shut up and enjoy me before I leave. You know you want it."

"The only thing I want to do is slap sense into your thick head."

I jerked my arm and broke free but he intercepted it before I touched him. His eyes drilled into me. "You really don't want to do that."

I stared back. "Yes. I really do."

Kylo kissed me again, roughly and hungrily, starving me for air. I know what he's doing and I will not break...

Although when he started to grind his hips against mine, I couldn't help it and let out a small moan. I mentally cursed, hearing him snicker.

"Stop," I muttered breathlessly.

He ignored me and kept going, his lips traveling down to my neck and right under my jawline. I kept moaning, partially involuntarily. "K-Kylo..."

When he still didn't stop, a tear fell from my eye, pleading. "Kylo...please..."

For some reason he decided to obey this time. Kylo leaned back and stared into my eyes. We were still uncomfortably close but I couldn't exactly feel my body to move.

"I know you're upset, I understand," Kylo softly spoke. His voice sounded sincere but could it be trusted? "I know what it feels like to be abandoned."

"Then why do it to me?" I choke out, crying. "Why leave me behind after all we have been through?"

He studied me, debating to answer. But to my surprise he did. "It's the only way to save you Summer."

I leaned back with surprise and confusion. "What?"

"Our paths are taking us in different directions," Kylo stated. "I thought I could intertwine us but I have failed. My only choice is to let you go...or end you."

Now I was scared. "You're not going to end me...right?" When he didn't answer, I started panicking. "Right?!"

"Your knowledge runs deep of the First Order. Technically, you know too much to just be released. Even our officers who get relieved of duty are killed to keep our secrets safe."

I swallowed hard, trembling. "You're going to kill me..."

Our eyes met for a while, connecting us. His were even watering. If this is so hard for him, why do it? What does it matter the knowledge I have, he doesn't have to let me go. I still haven't been given a reason.

Finally he spoke. "It is a feat I cannot execute...it is my weakness." He took a small breath before continuing. "You are my weakness."

My lips moved involuntarily but no noise came out. I felt my face heat up. "What are you saying Kylo?"

"You are a distraction," Kylo said in admittance. "I'm failing...the First Order. I'm their warrior and right now I've weakened. I've seen myself weaken. And it's because of you."

"Are you blaming me?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"No, I'm blaming myself to succumbing to the Light." Kylo gave some space between us so I could move and he no longer pinned me. But he took my hands in his. "I can no longer go on this way. It is not good for me. It will only lead to the destruction of the First Order and myself included."

"You're experiencing love," I corrected him. "And Snoke is the one you fear of failing, isn't it? He's the reason you're abandoning me. He told you to get rid of me, didn't he? Snoke wants you all to himself and my interference is 'hurting' you. Am I wrong?"

Kylo didn't respond. I don't know if he even breathed.

"Love doesn't weaken you Kylo," I said. "You're finally happy, isn't that what is most important?"

"I have to do what I was meant to, Summer. Maybe one day you will understand that." Kylo stepped back, raising his arm. "You're right, I won't kill you. But I have to wipe your memory then. Hopefully this will be suffice."

Little did I know that last part wasn't meant for me but for someone much more threatening to him.

"This is not suffice! Don't do it!" I pushed his arm away. "I don't want to forget anything that happened between us! Yes I hated some parts but I don't ever want to forget the good times we've shared."

"You are the lucky one. I will be burdened with the memories forever." He raised his arm again. "I will never forget you, but I must remove you from my life. And since I permit you to live, you cannot have any recollection of me...us."

I couldn't hold in the tears. "Kylo...if it really has to be, if you really think you have to do this to me...

His hand shook in front of my face. "I have to focus." His voice was as unsteady as his wrist.

I waited for something to happen but nothing did. He looked like he was struggling.

I placed my hand over his. "Kylo-"

He pulled away. "Stop! I need to do this!"

I went past his hand and kissed him. A good, long kiss. One that set fireworks off and made him softly moan. So cute.

Kylo's hands slowly rested on my waist and he held me close. I cupped his face, not wanting to stop. His teeth gently nipped at my lips, making me giggle and moan back. He knows just how to drive me crazy.

We continued like this until he broke the kiss. We we're both panting. I went for more but he held me back. "No...no more. We've taken too much time already. It's time to go."

I hugged him before he could stop me. "There has to be another way Kylo, please...I don't want to leave you..."

He surprisingly hugged back. Those big, muscular arms snaked around my body and gave me the most comforting feeling ever. "I know. I feel your emotions."

"Does that mean anything to you?" I choked out, leaning back but not out of his arms.

"More than you know," Kylo said, his voice as soft as a breeze. "Which is why wiping your memory will not only benefit the First Order but also save you from the pain that will come from this."

I stared into his glistening brown eyes. "Right now I feel like I'm seeing the true side of you."

"Don't go there please," he said, shaking his head. "I can't do it."

I smiled. It was weak, there was pain, but it was a smile. "If you ever need me in the future, you know where to find me."

"I will never forget you," Kylo said, his voice cracking. "And there is one more thing before we part."

I looked curiously up at him.

He revealed a necklace. From where I didn't see, it's like it appeared. The necklace had a shiny silver chain which adored the moonlight and a beautifully cut stone at the bottom. A crystal, it looked like. "This is for you Summer."

He carefully placed it around my neck and clasped it. I admired the stone in my fingers. "It's so beautiful."

"It's a kyber crystal," Kylo explained, which answers for why it felt so tingly in my touch. "I was going to give it to you for a lightsaber but...it functions well as a necklace too I guess."

My smile grew brighter. "I love it...and I love you."

"I know," he smirked. Darn Solo genes.

"May I make one final request from you?"

Kylo looked back at me with a nod.

"Kiss me."

He gently took my chin and kissed me, slowly partying after. "It's time Summer."

I took a step back. "Please make it quick. I can't stand this separation thing. It's killing me."

He raised his hand toward my forehead, gently touching it. He has never needed to touch anyone to enter their minds but I suppose this will be the hardest time for him. "Just relax. Close your eyes. It will be over quickly."

I hated to take my view off him but I did as he asked.

I felt him enter my mind and thoughts. I gave him no resistance, knowing this had to be done. It started to hurt but I dealt with the mild discomfort.

Suddenly, I heard sirens. Startled, I opened my eyes and turned towards the parking lot. It broke our contact but Kylo was also pausing, hearing the noise as well. Blue and red lights flickered and illuminated the trees on the far edge of the roads then entered the parking lot.

"It's security," I said, now panicked.

Kylo cursed. "We took too long."

"I still remember everything though. The memory wipe wasn't effective. What are we going to do?"

Kylo kept looking back and forth between me and the oncoming police. "I...I'll have to trust you. Just go! Run!"

"What? To where?"

"Anywhere but away from me!" He stated, starting to back away. "Get out of the park! Make up some excuse, I don't care!" Kylo looked at me one final time. "May the Force be with you, Summer." He disappeared into the shadows.

I was tempted to call out to make him stay but what was the point? At least now I have a memory of us. But I am yet to see if that is good or bad.

I ran out the exit and past the gate, feeling a cold wind smack me once I was past the buildings. The security cars were coming in quickly. Why run? It only makes me guilty and I have nothing to hide.

I stopped on the curb and let them pull up and go through their cop routine: put my hands behind my head, get on the ground, check me for weapons or drugs. Then I was handcuffed and made to sit in one of the cars since I was on "private Disney property". Trust me, I got an ear full just from that.

Once the scolding passed, next came the questioning. I didn't know how to answer because clearly the truth would only put me in a mental institution so I tried to make up some lame story. They didn't buy it and I can't blame them because even I thought it was stupid as I said it.

But then a sheriff came over and mentioned something about a girl who went missing at Disney two months back. I asked about that and he went on to tell me how a girl went into Kylo Ren's line and never came out. The cameras were assumingly tampered with and Disney's own security force accused whoever was on duty playing the character that day.

Technically, the sheriff wasn't wrong. Except the suspect was from a galaxy far, far away. Thankfully from there I became a good liar.

I admitted I was that same girl and claimed to have not seen what the man looked like, for he never took his mask off and remained in the Kylo Ren costume at all times. I also claimed that I couldn't remember much of what happened since I was kidnapped, only that I was in a dark room in and out of consciousness, or at least I thought I was, for the majority of the two months. But I specifically added I was never hurt or mistreated in any unpleasant way.

"Look I just want to go home," I pleaded with them, using tears to add guilt. It somewhat worked and soon enough I was driven off in the police vehicle back to their headquarters.

I looked out the back of car window one last time as Hollywood Stuidos became smaller and smaller in my view. And I swear, despite the growing distance, there was a red light on the rooftop of one of the buildings. Not a security light, for it spun suddenly only in a way I knew it would. I smiled. Kylo had watched over me to make sure I left safely.

I nestled down in the back of the car and shut my eyes. Kylo Ren is someone I will never forget about and always have a a special place in my heart for. As soon as we were on the highway, I fell asleep with the peaceful thought of once again being back home.
