I'm in trouble
22:57, 24 May 2024"WHOOP FU*KING WHOOP," Leo cheered, settling down on Piper's couch with a bowl of popcorn.
To celebrate Annabeth's enrollment in Goode, we were having a slumber party at Piper's place. A week and a half later technically. (We were all busy last weekend)
Annabeth and I have been getting along well. Better than well, really. We were practically back to normal.
Her weary looks in my direction am almost completely stopped. And she began telling me things again. Even though she didn't tell me how she got those burn marks yet....I hope that one day she'll be comfortable enough to tell me.
I decided to go to the kitchen and help her. She was busy making us dinner because Piper burnt the meal we ordered as she tried to re-heat it. (Long story, don't ask)
I saw Hazel there, sitting on the counter and having a chat with Annabeth. When she saw me, she gave me a smile.
"Hey Haze," I smiled back, "Frank's looking for you." I lied. I mean I didn't technically lie. He's looking for her in his heart. I'm sure of it.
With a huff, nod and gentle smile she went off to find the big lad.
"Oh is he now?" Annabeth asked with a smirk. She stood near the stove, her hand on the handle.
I walked up to her, sitting down on the counter next to her where Hazel was.
"And how's the most beautiful person in the world doing?" I asked her with a wink. My might've cheeks burnt a little. Being near her had that effect on me.
She flushed slightly, not meeting my eyes, she turned back to the pasta and swirled it.
"I don't know Percy, how are you?" she winked.
Okay my cheeks definitely burnt as she looked at me with that look on her face. That look where she looked so proud of herself. Her gray eyes were trained on me, amused.
I took a deep breath. She was beautiful. Inside and out.
"Do you want to try some?" she asked, her voice so quiet it felt like a whisper.
I scooted closer to the flame. Closer to her. And nodded.
She scooped some of the pasta up with an idle spoon and came closer. She blew on it lightly, trying to cool it down.
She looked at me, with a smile that made my hear melt. And she raised the spoon to me as I took a bite.
"It's delicious," I said between chewing.
She made a face, laughing. She threw the spoon in the sink and jumped onto the counter next to me. Her shoulder pressed up against mine.
"You're not lying are you?" she asked, looking at me carefully.
I shook my head, aghast, "Me? A liar?! Come on Annabeth!" I protested.
She laughed, shivering slightly despite the heat of the stove beside her.
"It's kinda chilly, don't you think?" she asked.
I didn't feel chilly. That's probably because of my hoodie. Or because, in reality, it wasn't that very cold.
Or maybe I was just so used to being in the water that I was used to it?
Yeah that's probably the reason.
"Here," I offered, wrapping my arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer to myself, "I'm naturally hot. Courtesy of my mom." I grinned, running a hand through my hair.
Her body was pressed up against mine now, my hand around her shoulders as she rested her head on mu shoulder. I watched her breathe. And for a second, the kitchen faded around us and it was just Annabeth and I.
"Percy....about my burn marks," she said slowly, idly playing with my hoodie strings. The motion sent a jolt of electricity through my spine and I fought to calm my heartbeat down.
"I need you to promise not to-" she began, her voice in a low whisper as she looked at me with her big gray eyes.
"Guys what's taking so OOOOOHHHH," Piper squealed as she entered the kitchen, hands clapping in pure glee.
Annabeth immediately jumped off the counter, blushing intensely. I missed her warmth almost immediately.
"Oh shut up,Pipes," she said, rolling her eyes. Her face was still beatroot red, " I just asked him how he liked my pasta."
"Mmmhmm," Piper smirked. An all knowing look in her eyes that made me feel uneasy.
Annabeth didn't look at me as she piled the pasta onto the plates I passed her. Together we went back to the living room, where everyone smirked upon seeing us.
"Nothing happened guys! Stop looking at us like that!" I groaned, passing Hazel a plate.
"We didn't bring that up," Leo smirked. My face heated as I practically shoved the plate into his hands.
"Let's just watch the show," Annabeth declared, her voice made sure there were no arguments allowed.
We decided to watch the Shadow and Bone series on Netflix instead of a movie. We snarfed down are food and were ready.
I ran and jumped onto the recliner couch, the only other one left. Leo spilled sauce onto the first one so that was unusable for the time being.
"Haha! Suckers!" I cheered, watching all my friends settle into the big couch, squishing themselves up like sardines.
Annabeth rolled her eyes, settling down peacefully onto the floor with Reyna, who was perched atop a beanbag.
"Hey! You can't sit on the floor! It's your big day!" Piper protested.
"There's no other place," Annabeth reminded them.
"I mean you can sit here if you want," I offered, patting my couch.
With a smile, she walked upto me.
I pulled her onto the couch with a grin as she squealed. My hands locking her in place as she laughed.
"Seaweed braiiinnnn I'm fine on the floor," she protested, squirming to get off.
"Why don't you just give her the couch and take the floor?" Piper smirked, "unless there's a-"
"I got the couch fair and square and im NOT giving it up," I huffed, pulling Annabeth closer to me. No other reason.
Her back was pressed up against my chest. The intimacy made my heart beat so loud that I was worried she could hear it.
With a wink that I'm sure she didn't notice, I reclined the recliner backwards until it was almost as flat as a bed. My interlinked hands pulling a laughing Annabeth back with me.
Since no one protested, we started the show. Annabeth relaxed.
"Comfy?" I whispered to her. I couldn't see her expression but there was a hint of a smile asshe snuggled up against me, placing her head on my chest as she watched the show with full attention.
"Now I am," she whispered back. Then turned back with rapt attention to the television set.
I couldn't focus on the show with her so close to me. Despite how interesting it was.
I wrapped an arm around her waist as I felt her sliding off the couch. She looked up at me and cocked an eyebrow, her face illuminated by nothing but the tv screen.
With an embarrassed smile, I began removing it slowly. However she grabbed and held onto it, turning her head once more to the tv. Her bushy hair in my face, tickling my nose.
I smiled, despite myself. Something felt so right in this moment.
"You're warm okay," she commented. And then said nothing more.
I didn't think it was a good time to mention that Piper had turned off the air conditioning atleast 2 episodes ago.
Was it me or was it getting blazing hot in here?
"If you're uncomfortable, I can get off," Annabeth began suddenly, getting up. I held a firm grip on her and shook my head.
"Na I'm good."
She smiled and settled back down on our couch/bed.
I eventually loosened my grip on her and she slid into the limited space beside me.
After Gods know how long after bing watching the AMAZING Shadow and bone show. (Highly recommend). We watched a few movies as well. Nothing special, just stuff like the conjuring and Anabelle because Piper wanted to see who was a scaredy cat.
Surprisingly, Hazel loved the movies. She watched them with a glint of a smile which seemed to have scared poor Leo.
I guess she was somewhat like her brother Nico then.
I turned around to face Annabeth after Anabelle came home or whatever, to ask her about something.
She was fast asleep, snoring slightly and mumbling something so so quietly that it was totally incoherent.
I may just listen to it WAYYY to often, but I could swear she was humming the tune to "kiss the girl" from the little mermaid.
I need to tease her about that later
I heard the group behind me scream and Hazel laugh. But I couldn't tear my sight away from Annabeth.
She looked so peaceful as she slept. Even in the dim lighting of the room, she looked like a princess. No.The girl I knew years ago was a princess. This girl here....she's a queen.
A strong. Brave. Ethereal. Queen.
She worked so hard to get to this point in her life.
Her face was practically a hairs length away from mine. I could feel her hair ticking my nose as she mumbled something, shifting closer to me.
If I moved even slightly.....
I pushed that thought away.
Okay truth time. I maybeeeee don't see Annabeth as just a friend. I admit to having a huge crush on her when we were younger.But....
She mumbled something again, shifting closer to me as she draped a hand across my chest,
"Gods above," I thought, looking at her, "I'm in trouble."
