"I don't get it! Did my hair get flat or something? Or did my mascara run? What's wrong with me?" I whined out, running my hands through my hair frustratedly.
"Nothing! Maybe he really was tired?" Carrie suggested, shrugging her shoulders as she looked to yeah-yeah.
"Or, maybe he just doesn't like you?" Yeah-yeah added, making Carrie scoff and smack him.
"I don't understand! He seemed to like me at the carnival?" I huffed, kicking a rock down the street sadly.
I stopped in my tracks once I noticed a cute dress from the window of a shop, making my mood instantly brighten.
I stopped myself, staring right at it. "Oh my god Carrie! Isn't that so cute!" I asked, nudging her shoulder.
I continued to stare at it before glancing over seeing Carrie looking off with an angered look across her face.
"What?" I dropped my smile, beginning to turn around when she stopped me.
"Nothing! You said the dress was cute?" She blurted, immediately grabbing my shoulder and turning me back.
"Yeah?" I rose my eyebrow, confused as to why she was acting the way she was.
"Yeah yeah then lets look inside?" Yeah-yeah offered, as Carrie took my hand and began to pull me towards the store.
"But I thought you said you both were already going to head home?" I questioned, stopping to make her look back.
"Oh no no! It's fine really, let's please go!" She smiled nervously, assuring me.
"Yeah yeah! We got time, it's cool!" Yeah-yeah nodded, as Carrie quickly turned me around and ushered me away.
"Guys! What is going on?" I groaned, snatching my hand away from her.
They both stammered looking at each other before glancing behind me, making me whip my head around.
My heart instantly dropped seeing Edward walking hand in hand with an unfamiliar girl down the street.
I titled my head, widening my eyes once the girls face came into view revealing the girl to be none other than Aubrey herself.
"Oh my god that-
I cut myself off and continued to watch them in shock, frowning once I seen they shared a small kiss.
How could such a dreamy guy go with that? Aubrey, out of all people?
"I'm so sorry Amora" Carrie frowned, once I turned back around.
"I don't get it! I thought our date went good the first time?" I pouted, glancing back towards them sadly.
"Me too! He seemed like he really liked you. That two timing little troll is such a skag for doing that" Carrie spat, rubbing my arm comfortingly.
"He's a real flake don't even waste your time on him Amora" Yeah-yeah shook his head, patting my back gently.
I looked down to the floor letting out a sad huff, softly running my hand through my hair as they both gave me sympathetic looks.
"Let's go" Carrie said softly, linking her arm with mine and turning me away.
——
I played around with the ring on my finger, rolling my eyes as I listened to the boys talking about me like I wasn't sitting in front of them.
"What's up with her?" Kenny asked, looking down towards me.
"Yeah. She looks like a sad puppy" Smalls added sadly, as they all turned to look at me.
"I've already told you dorks, those two little witches is what's up" Carrie sighed, shaking her head at the two.
"Oh yeah. I can't believe she would do that!" Bertram exclaimed, once recalling the story.
"Oh I can! It's Aubrey is it that hard too believe?" Carrie laughed, placing her hands onto her hips.
They all continued to stare at me, making me furrow my eyebrows in confusion and turn away.
I let out a tiny sigh looking away as I leaned back onto the wall behind me.
I continued to think about Edward and what a stupid, coward he was for leading me on like that. To then just find a new girl, who just had to be Aubrey. He kissed my cheek for crying out loud?
I wanted to completely murder her once I seen her, but I had to refrain myself from messing up my fresh manicure.
"Are you ok?" A voice asked pulling me away from my thoughts.
"I'm fine Benny, leave me alone will you" I sighed, waving my hand to motion that I wanted him to leave.
Of course he didn't listen, like he always does.
"Sorry about Edward. I knew he was no good for you" he sighed, shaking his head his disapprovingly.
"Yeah, you sure told me dad" I rolled my eyes sarcastically, glancing back at him.
He cracked a small laugh, shaking his head at my remark.
"I mean, I just went on two dates with the guy... at least I wasn't cheated on or anything" I sighed, shrugging slightly.
He slowly nodded as we both looked away and back towards the group who were all doing their own things.
Slowly I looked back over, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. "Why are you still sitting here? I've already said I'm ok"
"I don't know, you seem like you could use the company" he shrugged, playing around with the baseball in his hand.
"I thought I've made it clear, many times. That I want to be left alone, especially by you?" I questioned, shaking my head at him.
He simply rolled his eyes, resting his head back onto the wall as he looked forward.
We both sat in silence for a moment, slowly I knitted my eyebrows together, eyeing him as he grabbed a paper and pencil before drawing on it.
"Want to play?" He asked, sliding both the paper and a pencil towards me.
"Tic tac toe? What, are we five years old now?" I rose an eyebrow, glancing down at it.
"Do you want to play or not?" He continued, rolling his eyes at my remark.
I looked back down at it, titling my head before groaning. "Fine"
I picked up the pencil as he started the game, with us beginning to play.
"You're totally scamming me here" I mumbled, seeing he had already won 3 times by now.
"No I'm not, I'm just that good" he smiled smugly, making me snort a laugh at the utter ridiculousness.
"Benny really? How am I losing this is like a total kindergarten game!" I whined, frowning once I lost again.
"You're just really bad at it" he laughed, making me scoff and push his arm.
"But fine, I'll let you win!" He rolled his eyes, beginning to draw another grid.
"No! I want to win on my own!" I groaned, smacking his hand to stop him.
"Ow fine. Geez" he muttered shaking his head, and rubbing his hand before we started a new round.
I filled in the last box with an x, widening my eyes once I looked down at the whole paper.
"I won!" I exclaimed, immediately dropping the pencil from excitement.
"Oh my god. Finally!" I clapped my hands happily, smiling down at the paper.
"Wait- did you let me win?" I paused in my tracks, narrowing my eyes at him suspiciously.
"What! Pfft no way!" He scoffed sarcastically, shaking his head in denial.
"Oh whatever I don't even care because I won!" I smiled, bringing back up my excitement.
He shook his head with a smile as he watched my ridiculous excitement, over a small tic tac toe game. To be fair it felt good too at least beat him in something, seeing he's like good at everything.
"Benny! Squints fell out of the window again" hams called out, pointing to the open window.
The boys all erupted into laughters, immediately rushing over to the window and called down at him.
He sighed before glancing back towards me."You sure you're fine?" He asked, perking up his eyebrows.
"Duh, now leave I'm tired of you" I rolled my eyes, shooing him away.
He shook his head with a light laugh before pushing himself off of the wall, and walking away.
I watched him walk off, shrugging off the smile that I wanted to let out. Sighing as I forced myself too not and finally looked away.
