Amora

I walked into the classroom giving Carrie a kind smile, before sitting down in my usual seat.

As I waited for class to start I had played around with a piece of my hair in the mean time, when soon in walked Benny and Aubrey making me roll my eyes from their presence.

Aubrey shot me an annoyed glare before walking past me, of course making sure to bump my shoulder before sitting down behind me.

I shook my head trying my hardest to not burst out into a rage, when luckily Mrs. Stacy walked into the classroom.

"Morning!" She called out to us, walking over setting down her things onto her desk.

Everyone replied with small "mornings" and greetings, making her smile.

"Alright, new unit. Project time remember?" She reminded, crossing her arms when stood in front of the room.

Everyone nodded, making her continue."Good. So this for this one you guys are gonna be-

I cut her voice off as I looked away and rested my head onto my hand, letting myself zone out.

What color should I do my nails next?

"And, I'm picking your partners this time!" Her voice soon fell back into my mind, as she pointed her finger towards her chest.

Everyone immediately groaned and bursted out into protest at her choice

"No no! You guys act like wild animals when I let you pick on your own. And this is a more bigger project, you may have to work outside of school if you must" she added, walking around and placing down papers onto each desks.

She walked back towards the front as she adjusted her glasses before holding up a board and began to read off names.

I let out a tiny whine as I pouted, not getting to work with Carrie? What a total bust!

I began to tune her voice out again when I stared at the clock up above the wall, letting myself study it when my name was suddenly called.

"Amora, you listening?" Mrs. Stacy called, looking straight at me as she searched my response.

"Oh. Yeah, yeah uh.. what did you say again?" I cleared my throat, shifting my gaze from the clock to now her.

"I said, you're gonna be working with Benny. Is that alright?" She lowered her glasses, before motioning the board in her hand towards benny.

"Oh, yes that's totally fine- wait" Immediately my head whipped back towards her, as my mind finally processed her words.

"With who now!" I exclaimed widening my eyes, in horror.

"Mrs. Stacy please! I can't work with that thing!" I shrieked pointing towards benny, who rolled his eyes at my words.

"Amora, dear. It'll just be for a bit, besides it'll work out just fine. You guys live a few blocks away from each other right?" She suggested, looking between him and I.

"But you've never partnered him with me! You got no idea what I'm going to have to put up with!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands to my hair.

"Well yes, that'll also be good. You both can finally learn to quite you're arguments" she added, with a shake of her head.

"But-

"Alright, let's see who's next!" She cut me off, holding the board up and turning away from me.

I frowned slumping back down into my seat, slowly looking over to see a very amused Benny from my outburst.

I rolled my eyes shaking my head angrily before sadly resting my forehead onto the desk.

Working with Benny? One on one together! No way, that's just totally absurd!

——

I let out a frustrated groan, plopping my face into the pillow as I continued to think about the awful day at school.

Mrs. Stacy is one sick, twisted lady for doing this to me.

A soft knock was heard from across the room, making me immediately look up.

"Amora, are you alright?" Rose, the house keeping lady asked poking her head out into the room.

My face softened seeing her worried expression."Oh, yes I'm fine" I sighed, wiping the hair away from my face.

"Just checking, there's uh a young man here for you downstairs?" She informed, pointing back down the hall.

Frustration overwhelmed my mind instantly, knowing exactly who it was.

"Ugh, I'm totally gonna rip out my hair!" I groaned, walking over and angrily walking down the hall.

I walked down the steps muttering angrily under my breath, before stopping once my eyes met Benny who was sat on a sofa playing around with the strap of his bag.

"Finally! Had me waiting years!" He exclaimed, immediately sitting up from the couch once I walked down.

"Whatever, hurry up!" I gritted my teeth, waving him to follow before storming back up the stairs.

I stomped back into my room seeing Rose who began to sweep the floor.

"It's fine Rose, take a break alright?" I sighed, rubbing her back and taking ahold of the broom from her.

"I would, if your father wouldn't completely fall into a rage over it" she laughed softly, rubbing her hands on her apron.

"Really, it's alright I'll handle him he's always working anyways he won't notice. Here, go shopping or something it's way therapeutic!" I handed her a few bills, before setting down the broom.

"Thank you, Amora. You're a real angel" she gave me a thankful smile before kissing my forehead.

I smiled watching her walk away before averting my gaze over towards benny.

"An angel? I don't know about that" he shook his head sarcastically, setting his bag down onto the bed.

"Ugh, I forgot you were here" I groaned angrily, plopping down onto the bed.

I sighed watching as he began to take out a few things from his bag, before looking back up towards me.

"We gonna start or what?" He laughed softly, motioning down towards the books and papers on the bed.

I simply shrugged with an eye roll, wanting desperately for this whole thing to be over.

"What book?" He asked seeing I wasn't responding, as he held up two books in his hands.

"I don't care" I muttered, turning away being completely uninterested in them.

He sighed before rolling his eyes and chose a book himself, as he sat down at the edge of the bed.

I reluctantly picked up the book, angrily flipping it open as my eyes flicked back towards him seeing him looking at me.

"You have too read to do the work you know?" He questioned, motioning towards the book that I held lazily in my hand.

"I don't like reading" I whined, looking down towards the page sadly.

He simply let out another sigh before shaking his head and began to read on his own, making me pout as I sadly realized I had to do the same.
