Chapter 5 Dreaming

A white space

'Where is this? Maybe I am dreaming but this is a really weird dream. It looks like I am walking on nothing, everything is white.'

The white-haired girl walked around aimlessly trying to get a bearing on the situation.

'I should be dreaming right now, is this my consciousness's space? Why is it so empty though, my brain is a perfectly fine organ and I am sure it is filled with useful stuff, I am not dumb so this place shouldn't be my consciousness space, it is too empty'

Suddenly fragments of memory started flashing on the space. It is fragmented but she knew it was her past.

'My memories ...., St. Freya, Himeko-sensei, Arc city, Nagazora, Theater of Domination, Kolosten, this is my past ..., so this is my brain? Am I really that dumb?'

Suddenly the memories disappear, the white space transforms into a garden, a beautiful garden. Numerous greeneries arrange in a beautiful way, and in front of her is a white gazebo. Inside there is a table filled with sweets and tea cups and a figure is sitting on the chair, seemingly staring directly at her. This figure is extremely disturbing, it has no facial expressions, heck even any facial features, but provably the most disturbing of all is that it looks exactly like the girl.

"Who are you? why are you here? What is this space?" The girl asked as she readied herself in battle posture, ready to strike even though she has no guns, her fist still pack a punch.

"Welcome to my garden my child, Liana" The figure spoke as she stands up from her chair and greet the girl. "I usually don't talk to guests but I will give an exception to you since you are my child".

"You don't answer my question, who are you? Stop calling me your child" Liana responded, tension can be heard from her words, She instinctively knows that this figure is stronger than all the enemies she has fought.

"Ara~, you have been away from home for too long that you forgot your mother, maybe I should punish you?" The figure ask playfully, seemingly not noticing the tension in the air and started to walked towards Liana.

"You are not my mother, Cecilia is my mom"

"Cecilia is your human mother Liana, I am your true mother, you humans call me the will of the honkai ...." The figure speech is cut off suddenly by Liana's fist. The fist stopped in mid air in front of the figure and blown back away. Liana bounce off the ground a couple times due to the huge force she received. She then slowly stand back up.

"YOU!!!, it is because of you that I am suffering, because of you that so many people died"

"As I said before calm down" the voice suddenly becomes cold, and heartless. It was so heartless that Liana felt instinctively to  stop speaking. "Let's discuss is over tea shall we?" It is more of an order rather than an invitation, but Liana have no other choice to comply since the gap of power is so large.

The two of them sit on their chair."Drink the tea while it is hot, you can try out the sweets also" WOTH said reverting back to her playful speech intonation.

Liana drink the tea but have no appetite for the sweets, the situation isn't really the most conducive to enjoying sweets.

"Why are you attacking humans?" Liana asked the question that probably every single humans have asked before.

"Hmmm? Well if I say that is my job that was given to me would it suffice?" The figure then drink her tea, it is funny though since she doesn't have a face, how can she drink the tea?

"Who gave you the job?"

"No one"

"What? What do you mean no one?"

"Fufufu, I see that my daughter is confused, I'm sure you know about the imaginary tree and the sea of quanta right?" WOTH laughed lightly and asked Liana while smiling.

"Yes, what of it?"

"Well, I would describe the imaginary tree as an underwater tree in this case the sea of quanta" WOTH began to explain as she sip on her tea even though she doesn't have a mouth, or a face for that matter. "As its branches grow, what happen is that it will need to fight the sea of quanta or [displace] the water so that the it can grow. The sea of quanta is also is not passive, just as you try to displace water, the water will fight back. Until now, any questions dear?"

'Water, sea of quanta, underwater, imaginary tree, I see, I never thought that the imaginary tree can be analogized for mangrove, but what is it got to do with anything?' Liana thought to herself, probably looking perplexed since it is noticed by WOTH

"Judging from your face you are confused on what is it got to do with you right?" WOTH ask and Liana nodded while tilting her head.

"*sigh, I guess I expected too much on your logical abilities, I know that you are a bit slow but I thought you've matured" WOTH said while holding her forehead, frustrated at Liana's questionable logical prowess.

"Shut up!! I don't need to prove that I am smart honkai-chan, Smart people doesn't need to prove that they are smart" Liana pouted while crossing her arms.

"Honkai-chan? I guess it is quite a cute nickname, I would rather for you to call me more respectfully since I am your elder" Honkai-chan said with a pouted tone, it is hard to judge if she really pouts since she doesn't have a face.

"Back to the topic, Quantum energy is actually pure honkai energy that permeates the sea of quanta, I am actually the physical manifestations of the sea"

"Physical manifestation? You are the sea of quanta?"

"Yes, you can say that"

"Then why you are also the will of the honkai?"Liana tensely asks.

"Actually, I never really hate civilization progressing, it is just that the nature of progressing creates honkai" Honkai-chan explains. "When a branch of the imaginary tree grows, it takes up space that is previously filled with quantum energy, thus some of this energy will seep into the branch, or in other words enter into their universe and become honkai. It's like gravity restricting trees from growing to high, not because gravity hates trees, but just because the nature of gravity and growing trees interaction."

"So are you saying that as long as human progress, honkai will exist?"

"Yup, honkai will always exist in your universe, but Earth can be free of honkai if you guys manage to quarantine the honkai energy. Alright I think time is up, you should wake up now"

"WAIT!!!"

Then suddenly everything is black

"WAIT!!!" I woke up with a scream, not what I call a pleasant dream. Why when I ask one question, all I got is more questions, what is Herrshers? Why does she appear in my dream? Could it be her that send me here to this branch? Damn it so many questions.

"Nee-san? Are you having a nightmare?" Kiana woke up and rub her sleepy eyes, it looks like my scream woke her up.

"Ah Kiana, I'm sorry to wake you up" I hug her and she snuggles into me while smiling. I look at the clock by the bed and found that it is 10.00 already, no wonder I feel hungry.

"Kiana, let's go eat breakfast" I go down the bed and change my clothes. Actually, I can just use my honkai power to wear clothes but in case I need to take anti-honkai serum, or in a room that has soulenium, my clothes might dematerialize, so I am not taking any chances.

"Ah! Nee-san wait for me" Kiana said as she too change her clothes.

After we finish getting ready, we exited the room and go to the canteen to grab breakfast. Inside the canteen, there is mom, dad, Sirin, and Bella chatting. We eat together and chatted for a while.

Times like this make me feel happy. Joking with my mom and dad, playing with my siblings, and having fun with my family, I will treasure these moments.

"Ah, do you know that in this base there is a virtual combat simulator? Kira and Niggurath used it earlier for training" mom said

"Oh I see, I guess it is quite interesting, maybe I will check it later mom"

A simulator huh? Maybe I could blow some steam off and also practice using sentience core or maybe reason core. Yeah, I need to practice using the reason core in case I need to use it like back when I make the homu doll tracker.

"You want to use it Liana? I hope you don't blow up the base alright?" Dad said with a raised eyebrow.

"I can control my powers dad, anyways I'm off"

"Don't run in the hallway Liana" Mom warned.

I traveled to the simulator room and fight a couple of simulations, it looks like my control over the reason core is quite good but it seems that this practice session is not really a fruitful one since I can't concentrate on training. My mind is still thinking about my dream, should I tell the others about it? if they know that honkai can never be defeated, would their morale drop? Or worse, lose the will to fight? Also it's not like honkai-chan has finished telling me about her and honkai, so perhaps I should refrain from telling the others about it first until I have enough information, yes let's do that.

*clap *clap *clap "Well done, I am impressed with your fighting abilities and Herrscher control"

A figure suddenly appeared and clapping his hands, I turn to the doorway to find the figure, a brown hair man, the sovereign.

"Aren't you still recovering from your injuries Mr. Welt? you shouldn't walk around too much since you use a lot of honkai power."

"Oh? it seems that you know me Liana, you can just call me Welt, it seems that what Tesla and Einstein have been saying is true that you come from the future?" Welt walked to the edge of the simulator ring.

"You can say that, I don't want to explain it again if I have to, it's too long, I'm lazy."

"I see that you have the reason core, alongside other cores, how can you manage to not get corrupted from that many cores?" Welt asked as he sit on one of the viewing benches, I also walked to him and sit next to him.

"I don't know, maybe due to my bloodline? or I am a Herrscher? anyway, I have currently the reason, sentience, void, and flame core on me right now."

"Do you master the use of all the core's abilities?"

"Not quite, reason core is the weakest since I am not really the smartest girl in the world thus taking in a lot of people minds is still a bit hard, I personally enjoy using my void powers though, since I'm born with it."

"I see, you are really interesting, so in the future, I will give the reason core to you?"

"You will give it to Bronya Zaychik, an orphan under Cocolia who is also one of the deadliest assassins in the world, well actually rather than give, the core chooses Bronya as the successor since at that time your physical state has been depleted and you are left wondering the sea of quanta after fighting to keep Kevin at the sea." I said. I don't actually know a lot of detail regarding that and I need to ask Aunt Teri about it since, at that time, I was still in Arc City trying to control my power so what I tell him is just the basic.

"I see" Welt looks down and seems to be thinking of something "Then is this Bronya girl gave you the core?"

"Yup"

"I see, what about the other cores?"

"The sentience core is given by Fu Hua, my class monitor, and the flame core or should I say gem of haste is my mentor's battlesuit core. I really don't understand a lot of these cores and gems and the difference between them, so usually, I just say everything is a core."

"I see" Welt assume a thinking pose and kept his silence. It is kind of awkward but I will let him think. Now that I think of it, Welt is a smart guy, maybe I should consult him about my dream.

"I have something to tell you Welt-san"

"Hmmm? what is it?"

I then tell him about my dreams about meeting honkai-chan and talking about what honkai really is.

"So you met the Honkai queen and have tea with her and then she tells you about the honkai?"

"Yup"

"Are you sure you are not just dreaming?" Welt asked, a bit skeptically

"Well, I manage to come to this branch right? I'm 90% sure that it is her powers that sent me to this place, for what purpose? that is what I also want to know, but at least I have saved my family. I actually debating on telling them about this but I am afraid that they will lose morale regarding the honkai will never be eradicated, so I told you since you look more robust"

"I would agree, telling them now is counter-productive especially since it looks like your time talking with the honkai queen is cut short, if you have any additional dreams, please let me know."

"Sure" I told him as I stand up "I'm going back to take a shower, see you around"

I then exited the room and take a bath.

'A Herrscher that has multiple cores is sent to the past by the honkai queen, when I first hear it, I thought that the honkai queen has finished destroying other worlds and is sending her children to destroy this world but after hearing about how the Herrscher actually saved Cecilia, Siegfried, Kiana, and even Sirin makes me think that it is unlikely.' Welt thinks to himself at the bench that he and Liana just now sit.

"Hmmm, what could the honkai queen gain from sending her here?"

'I think I will leave this question unanswered right now, there is a more important thing, it seems that honkai energy will always exist inside a progressing universe due to the sea of quanta, perhaps quarantining them somewhere will be the best solution? Problem is that it is highly impractical since new honkai energy will keep on appearing. Maybe make human more tolerant honkai energy by injecting small amounts at a time to create antibodies? that could work but I'm not sure how effective it is. Perhaps as crazy and inhumane as it sounds, Kevin's plan to expose humans with high honkai energy to create natural stigmata at the cost of 99.9% population is the most efficient, time-saved solution. Can there be a solution with less sacrifice?' Welt think to himself as he rise and exit the simulator room.

"I wonder, what would Joyce do given this information"

The man walked back to his ward.

Thanks for reading, to be honest, I am confused with the cores, like did Kiana take bronya's core when she transform into HoF or just borrow her powers? Did Fu hua also give her core or lend them? also gem of haste is actually a gem not the flame core. I am quite confuse with the distribution and timeline of each cores or gems so from now on I will just go with my understanding that HoF actually own reason, sentience, void, and flame core, and yes technically flame core is a gem (a weaker version of a Herrscher core) but in this story, I will assume it has the same power as a flame core.
