Chapter 1:

I was awake early this morning, I could never sleep well in hotel rooms. I looked at the other bed in the room seeing Scott sleeping peacefully. He was really quite handsome, too bad he was in the friendzone because of my secret insecurities. I got up out of my bed and slipped on my flip flops. I grabbed one of the two room keys, and opened the door quietly. I walked out, down the hall, rode the elevator to the lobby, and then stepped onto the front steps of the hotel in my yoga pants and hoodie looking out over the Venice shore. It was six o'clock in the morning on a Friday morning. Scott and I were traveling LA, so he could potentially meet a famous love interest that's been tweeting him directly for months.

I headed down to the beach with my phone in hand and sat on a lounge chair enjoying the salt air and cold breeze of the early morning. I crossed my arms across my chest and stared out at the waves on the rocks. I people watched for what seemed like hours when I finally got a text from Scott.

Scott: Where'd you go?

I told him where I was as he said he'd go get us breakfast and that he'd be back in an hour or two depending on traffic. I moved to the end of my lounge chair and put my bare feet in the warm sand. I sat for what seemed like three hours, and I was right, it had been three hours, it was now nine o'clock. Scott texted me telling me the traffic was horrible and he'd be a little late coming back. My long red hair fell to one side of my head as I looked around the beach wondering how time went by so fast here. I leaned my head on my knees running sand through my fingers when I was suddenly hit on the head with some sort of ball. I gasped as a sharp pain erupted from my head. "Ow!" I yelled holding the back of my head sitting up.

"Hey!" A male voice yelled. I grabbed the basketball and stood up looking behind me. The basketball court had five guys on it as I walked closer to them.

"That's our ball!" The short dark haired fair skinned one yelled at me. I glared at him holding the ball between my hip and my arm. I scoffed.

"Yeah? And?" I asked. The four looked at one another and was taken aback. The taller brunette tanned guy then took a step closer to stand next to the one who had just spoken.

"You should give that back." He warned. I snorted playing with the ball in my hands.

"You either apologize for hitting me in the head with this here ball, or I will go find something to cut it with, and then you get it back and can wear it as a hat." I told them smiling annoyed by their rude attitude.

"Bobby?" The tall blonde familiar looking one asked. I remembered him. Kendall. He was the one I ran into and knocked him onto the floor.

"Sup Kendall?" I asked him smiling and twirling the ball with my finger tips between my hands. He smiled, as the others looked surprised at our recognition of one another.

"Guys this is Roberta, or Bobby for short." Kendall said.
