T H R E E

4 days later [ A L E X A ]

"Hey." I grinned as I met Carl.

"Hey, you left so early yesterday, are you okay?" Carl questioned. I had to go, I was worried about my dad catching me again. If he did then he would know for sure what was going on.

"Yeah I'm fine. Just got worried about where I'm staying at, making sure no one got to it. I left valuable stuff there." I couldn't believe he hasn't figured me out yet. I was a good liar, but he seemed smart enough to know.

"Alexa... you really need to come stay with me at Alexandria-""Carl, no." I cut him off.

"Why? It's safe there! There's food and water and people. Really really good people. You'd love it there! You'd be safe." Carl's hands took both of mine.

"Carl, im safe now-"

"No you're not. You're out here by yourself. You don't have much food or water and only a gun and a knife. I want you to come with me." He begged.

"I can't." I shook my head."Why not?" He answered quickly.

"Because-... I just..." I couldn't think of anything... I had to go through with it."Come with me. Please." Carl pleaded.

I didn't know what to do.

I blew air out of my nose and looked down at our hands."Fine." I whispered. I needed to see it to know my way around for when we kill them anyway.

"Seriously?" Carl asked with a smile."Only to check it out. If I don't like it I'm leaving." I strictly said.

"Deal." He was excited."Follow me." He added. What did I just get myself into?

I shouldn't have done this. My oh my was I being so dangerous to myself for this boy.

This is so risky. My dad will kill me if he finds out.

Carl started leading me through the woods even though I knew how to get there.

"My people, they know about you. They'll be happy you came." He looked at me.

I laughed a bit."You're strange." I joked.

He trusts me so much for some reason but he shouldn't. I feel so bad taking advantage of him like this.

He was such a good person with such good intentions. He wanted nothing but good for me.

My heart was racing as we approached the gates.

"Carl... I need to tell you something." I looked at him. But he was more interested in opening the gate.

"Here we are." Carl said and I saw a man with a mullet standing at the gate. Eugene.

"This for sure is the girl you were talking about, correct?" He sounded southern. More than I expected.

"Yeah. Eugene, this is Alexa. Alexa, this is Eugene." Carl introduced me. Carl may not be able to sense my lies... but once I meet Rick, I knew this was going to go down bad.

"Pleasure to meet you, Alexa." He gave me a nod with the straightest face ever.

"Carl this isn't a good idea I should g-""You promised you'd check it out." He peered back at me. I just nodded.

His expression was so bright. His eye sparkled.

This made me feel even more guilty.

"Lets meet everyone." Carl started too walk. This place was big. But not as big as mine. I studied every inch and letting my amazing memory take over it.

Dad was so going to murder me.

"Hey." Carl nudged me smally. I turned my head to him."Sorry I was looking around." I blinked.

"It's okay. Let's go see my dad, first." He continued to walk through Alexandria. Rick grimes. He was going to sniff me out immediately.

There was nothing worse than getting taken to your enemies home.

Even though your enemy and you are friends.

These houses were huge, though. No wonder they kept themselves together.

I looked around as we walked.

I saw people everywhere. They all got a look at my face. I was screwed.

But I felt close to Carl. Close because he's the only friend I've got. My dad always keeps me inside the sanctuary. I'm the only kid and now that I've met another, it doesn't take much to get attached.

Carl started to approach 3 people. One of them looked just like him and I knew exactly who he was.

Rick Grimes.

"Dad, Glenn, Maggie, this is Alexa." He introduced me. Rick studied my face. Fuck.

"That's my dad, rick. That's Glenn and Maggie." Carl pointed. I knew who they were.

"Hi." I waved. I had to be cautious. I had to be ready.

"Alexa... Where do you come from?" Glenn welcomed with open arms.

"No where. I've been roaming the woods for the longest." If I was going to make through this I would have to lie my ass off.

They'll find out someday. I knew that.

And for some reason I didn't want that to happen.

Carl began to pull me in more places of Alexandria.

I zoned out most of the time until he took me to a house."This is where some of my group stays. My rooms upstairs." This house was big.

"Carl... I don't know if I want to do this-"

"Why not?" He immediately replied.

"Because... I don't know. I like being out there." Dads going to be so disappointed in me.

"Alexa, listen, you're safe here-""Carl... I'm sorry. I can't do this." I backed up.

"Lex, this'll be good for you! You'll be happy here." Carl grabbed my upper arm lightly. I could tell he wanted me here so bad. Not for his sake, but for what he thought was mine.

"Carl I can't." I softly pulled my arm out of his grasp. He took the hint and sighed, looking down.

He looked back up at me.

"Will I still be able to see you?" He asked after a minute of silence.

"I-... I'm not sure. I don't know." I peered out the window to see where the sun was. I timed perfectly when I was supposed to go home.

"You know you're welcome here. You don't have to leave." Carl tried once more.

"I'll be okay... I'm sorry Carl. I have to go." I apologized to him. I knew he was hurt.

"Alex-"

I just left. I quickly ran, not sure where I was going. I couldn't leave through the gates so I hopped up and grabbed ahold of the walls. I climbed up and hopped over, running as fast as I could through the woods.

I had a knife in hand, but lately my problem wasn't running into walkers. Those were easy.

My problem was a boy in a sheriffs hat. The one that I couldn't get out of my mind. The one that I risked everything for.

My legs carried me as fast as they could.

I was sure enough going to get there within 2 hours.

By the time I got there, dad was in my room when I climbed through the window.

Fuck.

"Dad, let me explain-"

"Alexa Rose Montgomery!" He shouted. I clenched my teeth and shut my eyes for a second. Fuck fuck fuck.

"I can explain, dad-" yet he interrupted me again.

"You sneaking out to see a boy. From Alexandria. No need to explain." He looked incredibly disappointed in me. I didn't say anything.

"Going into Alexandria." He sternly stated.

"I knew it was a mistake so I left." I softly spoke, feeling incredibly guilty.

"Doesn't matter. They know who you are now. For all I know they could know that you're a savior." Dad raise his voice a bit.

"They don't, I swear. I'm so sorry dad." I apologized.

"Apologies don't fix what you pulled. You could've killed yourself." He shook his head and sighed. He hated being mad at me as much as I hated him being mad at me.

"You know my rules about leaving the sanctuary!" He yelled as Dwight and fat Joseph walked in.

"I know.... it's just that.... I feel free out there. I don't feel like I'm locked up. I run so freely out there... but I didn't mean to run into Carl and when I did I almost killed him... but I didn't. He is such a good person and he's such a good friend. He really cares about me and it feels good to have a friend." I tried to explain.

"I know, baby. It sucks being the only kid. You had to grow up real fast and I get it... but a boy from Alexandria, no way." If I was anyone else, I'd get the iron. But again, dad will never do anything to hurt me in any way.

"Actually... maybe her being there isn't a bad idea after all..." Dwight spoke up.

"Did I ask you to speak, Dwight? Don't you know not to interrupt a conversation especially with my daughter?" Dad turned to Dwight. But Dwight might be right.

"No, dad, let him speak." I grabbed his arm.

Dad looked at me and then back at Dwight, motioning for him to speak again.

"She can go there for a few weeks until we get done with the killing of the doctor, she can be a spy I guess. They all trust her already. She can come back and give us information and we'll have her when we got them all on their knees." Dwight told him.

"You want me to risk my kids life?" Dad shouted at Dwight.

"Hey, that's not a bad idea. If they trust me they won't do anything to hurt me." I agreed with Dwight.

Dad gave me a look.

"I don't want to send you out there." He shook his head.

"Sir, it's a perfect pl-""Fat Joseph! Get out!" Dad yelled, causing me to laugh.

I was sure going to miss my dad if I was going.

"Alexa, honey, promise me one thing." Dad turned back to me.

"What?"

"If I send you there, promise me you will always be my girl. You'll always be a savior. You'll always be my mini negan."

"I promise. You're my dad. Family doesn't bail on each other." I adored my dad and aspired to be just like him.

Everyone feared us.

We were Negan and Alexa. That's what we'll always be.

Dad and daughter.

There is nothing more important to a father than his daughter. There is no stronger bond than a father and daughter. That's all I've known.

I loved my dad to death and being away from him was going to be hard.

Especially not mentioning him or my group.

"Alexa... it'll probably be a month before I get to see you again." I'm really surprised he was agreeing with this plan. Dwight knows how I am though. I like taking risks. I'm dangerous but I love to be in danger.

Dwight, other than my dad, was my best friend. He knows a lot about me.

He gave me a smile from behind my dad.

"Yeah I know." I nodded, taking a breath in.

Again, I've never been apart from my dad for more than 4 days so it was a lot to handle.

"Be careful, baby. Don't put yourself in bad situations. I'll send someone to get you the night before everything goes down. We'll be at Alexandria and have them all on their knees." Dad told me and gave me a quick hug. I closed my eyes and hugged him tightly.

"Okay, Dwight... I need you to take the car, drop her off just maybe a few miles away since she knows where she's going." Dad looked at me in a somewhat annoyed way. I gave him an innocent smile.

"Be safe." He kissed my forehead.

"Always."
