Epilogue - Home again

05:51, 14 November 2019

Darkness looms over the city, a figure stepping out from the darkness, dressed in a dark coat and a smile, he walks into the city, passing by people, one by one, but black wings taped his back, flapping here and there, people passing look and whisper quietly, red eyes glowing from under the shadow he cast, and evil followed.Imps and demons, black cats and mongrels followed him, laughing up a storm, his past catching up to him quickly, but he pushed past them, looking up at the large white building in front of him, he smiles and walks in, his wings folding back, seemingly disappearing as he steps into the building, his dark hair shaking, his light and soft skin aged only to that of a 25-year-old, he grins happily.------------------"Sir, may I help you?" I hear a nurse ask, I snap my head to her and smile, nodding, I slip over a paper, reading the address, along with a room number.Room 343"Are you family, a relative maybe?" She asks and I grin."Does a lover count?" I ask, and she nods, pointing to a hall to her left, I nod in thanks and follow, my wings unfurling again, I find the room and knock on the door, stepping in slowly, a figure, elderly and frail looks over and squints before his eyes go wide, tears coming to."Is it really my time already?" He asks and I laugh, he laughs along slowly and I nod. "It's been a while, but I promised I'd come back and take you to someplace understanding. A place where you can be yourself, and thrive as long as we wish." I say, he nods and I walk over, but he raises a hand rather quickly. "I have one request before we come together again. Please, play a song for me." He says, pointing to a radio slowly, I walk over questioningly and look at the disc. It was one I was unfamiliar with, no picture on the front, but I shrug, popping it in, I click on the play button and hear a young voice singing perfectly.I smile and tears come to my own eyes, I wipe them down and he laughs."You always did try to hide your tears...I always see through you, Sam...""I know Al. Now it's time."I reach a hand out and he takes it slowly, I tug hard and he flows out, looking as young as 25 as well and I  hug him close and he stumbles slowly, laughing, his voice young and spry, his body the same. I laugh with him and kiss him, the radio playing, and I hear the flatline of an EKG, he looks back and smiles."People know I'm at peace now. It's over and done for. Let's go, My Little Rebel." Al says and we slowly dissipate into the air, flowing into a place, where none shall disturb us. Not even my own demons, or god. Not Uriel or Amenadiel. My own safe space.I guess I really was God's little Rebel.
