Chapter 4 - LILY POV

I laughed. Sev was such a great friend. My smile fades as I see James. A mixture of shock, hurt, and hate make up his expression.

I walk over to him. "Hello. How may I help you today?"

"You are seriously hanging out with him?" He asks. "You have plenty of friends to chose from. But you spend most of your time with him."

"Well, of course I do! He's my best friend." I say.

"Some friend you got there." James says. I turn around. Sev was surrounded by his friends.

I glare at James. "He has friends other than me! Why does that surprise you?"

He shrugs. "It's not him I'm worried about, it's them."

"What did you come here for?" I ask.

"You."

"Ohhhh-kaaaay?"

"Did you ask people about me at lunch?"

Oh. That. "Maybe..."

His expression lightens. Oh no. What have I done?!

"Really?!"

I nod. "Is that a problem?"

"No, of course not. Since Snape is with his friends, do you want to come back to the common room?"

"Since Severus is with his friends," I correct him, "yes, I would like to."

We walk to the commons room. It is really awkward. Luckily James stays silent.

When I walk in with James, Alice winks at me. I glare at her and go to sit next to her.

"He just found me in the library, and Sev was with his friends. So I walked here with him. Nothing happened."

"Sure, sure." She says. Then she laughs. "Just kidding."

"Yeah. You're totally kidding."

Alice shrugs. "Maybe I was. Maybe I wasn't."

"This conversation has taken on a very interesting topic."

She laughs again. "It has. And I think lover boy wants to talk to you."

I turn around. James motioned for me to come to him.

I sigh, and look at Alice. She shoos me away.

I get up and walk over to James.

"What is it now?"

"What do you see in Snape, anyway?"

I sigh. "Severus is a guy that doesn't have any friends who actually care about his safety like I do. He's actually a really nice person, once you get to know him."

"Sure he is. Sure."

I smack him. "Sev is a good guy!"

He winces. Oops. I didn't mean to hit him that hard.

"Sorry..." I say.

"No, it's fine. I was being a jerk."

I stare at him in shock. James Potter, admitting that he was being a jerk?! What was this madness?

He looks up and sees my expression. "People can change." He says, before he walks away.

I was strolling to the owlry when I heard a noise. It sounded like stone on stone. It made me shudder. It was a horrible sound.

I kept walking, only to be blocked by a familiar face.

"Hi, Lily." Sev says, his lips curling into an evil smile.

I'm sorry guys. I have broken my promise. You guys do your job. I don't do mine.

Keep being awesome and stuff. It's the best feeling in the world when I check Wattpad and my story has like 10 more reads than the day before.

Despite my being the worst admin ever, I have the best readers ever. You are my motivation to keep writing. When the number goes up on the reads, it cheers me up and gives me the inspiration to write another chapter. I congratulate you.
