Chapter One

23:26, 3 September 2020

It's a cold August afternoon. It has been snowing every night during the whole week. A tall blond boy is walking through the park in the cold London with his hands in his pockets, wearing a fancy black tux, gazing at the beautiful snowy landscape. It calms him down and makes him forget about his problems. It makes him forget the mark that has been burned into his left forearm by Lord Voldemort himself. It distracts his mind from the horrible mission he has been assigned. But he stops by hearing something that seems like a sob. He looks around and see a girl sitting on a bench, wiping her tears away. It's you.

—What could it be that bad? —He asks as he sits next to you. You give a little jump and gasp—. Don't get scared, I won't harm you —he hands you a delicate silk hanky.

—Th... thanks —you wipe your tears away with his hanky. It has a delicious scent of apple and mint.

—Life is too short to be crying. I have something that's gonna cheer you up —he makes a movement with his hand and a beautiful white rose appears magically. A shy smile blooms across your face.

—Are you a magician?

—Uhm... kind of —he gives you the rose and your cheeks flush. A shy smile blooms across his face—. I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy —he stretches his hand.

—It's nice to meet you, Draco. I'm (Y/N) (Y/L/N) —you reply and shake his hand.

—It's nice to meet you too, (Y/N).

Draco is very handsome. His platinum blond hair and beautiful pale skin highlight his even more beautiful grey eyes. You don't know why, but there is something that tells you that he is not from here.

—Draco the Magician —you say moving your hands like picturing that name written in a neon sign. He smiles—. You're a very young magician.

—What does it make you think that?

—You don't look older than me, and I'm 16.

—Wow! Interesting guessing. I'm 16 too. —You smile.

Suddenly, your phone rings and Draco looks curiously at your muggle gadget. He hadn't seen nothing like that before.

—Excuse me, Draco. It's mum —you answer your phone—. Hi mum... Ok, I'm gonna buy a bottle of orange juice on my way back home... I love you, bye —you hang up the call—. I'm sorry, Dra... —you look around—. Draco?

Draco has gone, but there is another beautiful white rose on the bench next to you instead. A beautiful smile blooms across your face. The mysterious handsome blond magician has made you forget the reason why you were crying. You smell the roses and sigh, and keep Draco's hanky in your pocket. Then you take your backpack and walk your way back home with a limp.

Meanwhile, Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange are heading to Severus Snape parents' home through the rainy streets of Cokeworth.

—Cissy, you can't do this! You can't trust him! —Bellatrix drawls.

—The Dark Lord trusts him, Bella —Narcissa replies.

—The Dark Lord is mistaken!

Bellatrix knocks on the door and Snape opens it and let them enter.

—I know I shouldn't be here —Narcissa says—. The Dark Lord himself forbade me to speak of this.

—If The Dark Lord forbade you to speak of this, then you shouldn't to —Snape replies—. But I'm aware of your situation, Narcissa.

—You? The Dark Lord told you? —Bellatrix asks surprised.

—Your sister doubts me. Understandable. Over the years, I've played my part well. So well, I've deceived one of the greatest wizards of all time. Dumbledore is a great wizard. Only a fool would question it.

—I don't doubt you, Severus —Narcissa adds.

—You should be honored, Cissy, as should Draco —Bellatrix drawls.

—He is just a boy —Narcissa states.

—I can't change the Dark Lord's mind. But perhaps I can help Draco —Snape adds.

—Severus...

—Swear to it. Make the Unbreakable Vow. Or it's just empty words? —Bellatrix asks.

—Take out your wand —Snape demands.

Bellatrix takes out her wand and Narcissa and Snape grab each other's wrist. Bellatrix makes a move with her wand and a translucent glowing string appears, joining their arms.

—Will you, Severus Snape, watch over Draco Malfoy as he attemps to fulfill the Dark Lord's wishes? —Bellatrix asks.

—I will —Snape replies.

—And will you to the best of your ability, protect him from harm?

—I will.

—And if Draco should fail, will you yourself carry out the deed the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform?

—I will.

The next day, you're crying again, sitting on the same bench in the park. Suddenly, an origami swan comes flying towards you and lands on you lap. You look around but nobody's there. Your heart fills with joy when you notice that it has a delicious scent of apple and mint. You grab it and it magically turns into a beautiful white rose.

A name escapes off your lips in a sigh: "Draco".

—Such a pretty girl shouldn't be crying —a sexy male voice says next to you. You give a little jump and let out a high pitched scream.

—Draco! You scared the hell out of me!

—I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.

—Next time you wanna appear next to me out of nothing, just let me know, ok?

—But it wouldn't be a surprise anymore —he tells you sweetly. You blush.

—Do you really think I'm pretty? —His cheeks flush and he looks away—. Yesterday you just disappeared and I couldn't thank you —you give him his hanky back. He smiles.

—Why were you crying again? —You look down.

Draco grabs the rose and it turns blue. A shy smile blooms across your face. The rose turns into a beautiful blue butterfly that flies and lands on the tip of your nose.

—It's tickling me —you giggle.

The butterfly flies and turns into a little blue bird. You giggle and clap your hands. The little bird lands on Draco's finger and turns into a beautiful bouquet of white roses that he gives to you. Your cheeks flush and also his. But you see sadness in his eyes.

—Is everything ok, Draco?

—What do you mean?

—Mum says that I have the gift to see inside people just by looking into their eyes.

—And what do you see when you look into my eyes?

—Sadness... and so much pain. —He looks away—. Something is eating you up from inside, like if you were being forced to do something you don't want to.

—Wow! I feel like an open book.

—I believe in fate, you know? It's not coincidence that we had met. You have your problems and I have mine, but I think we can help each other. I think that's the reason why we met. —A beautiful smile blooms across his face.

—You're so sweet, (Y/N) —he takes your hand and gently kisses it. You blush—. Call me crazy, but I have the strange feeling that someone has been watching us.

—Like if we were being spied?

Draco opens his mouth to reply, but before he can say something, he gasps in pain and grabs his left forearm.

—Are you ok?

—I have to go. My mother is waiting for me. We have a meeting.

—Will I see you tomorrow? —He smiles.

—Of course —he kisses your hand again and goes.

You smell your flowers and sigh. You can't stop thinking on his beautiful smile and...

—Who was that? —A cold male voice behind you brings you back to reality.

You stand up quickly and turn around.

—He is a friend, Richard —you reply.

—Since when your friends kiss your hand and give you roses? —He takes the bouquet off your hand, throws it to the ground and steps on it.

Tears of sadness and fear start rolling down your cheeks. Draco was right, someone had been watching you, and that someone was Richard.

—Richard, please don't... —you say walking backwards as he walks towards you—. Richard, please... I beg you... —you say sobbing—. Richard, no! NOOOOOO!
