♡⊹ Chapter Eighteen: He Woke Up, But Not For Them ⊹♡

08:16, 4 July 2025

"Waking up didn’t mean he forgave them.”

The morning light was thin. Pale gold through the hospital blinds. The world outside began its usual rhythm — cars honking, people walking, lives continuing.

Inside Room 206, nothing moved.

Until—

A breath caught.

A finger twitched.

And slowly, slowly…

Kyungmin opened his eyes.

The ceiling was white.

Too white.

Sterile. Blurry. Unfamiliar.

His lips were dry. His throat ached. His whole body felt heavy — like he was made of sandbags and bruises.

But he was awake.

Alive.

And for a moment…he almost wished he wasn’t.

⋆˚。⋆

The boys were asleep around him.

Youngjae with his head on the bed.Dohoon curled up in the corner.Jihoon, arms crossed and eyes half-shut.Hanjin, barely holding onto the edge of his seat.

He looked at each one.

And felt nothing.

Not warmth. Not comfort.Just… distance.

They looked like strangers.

Strangers who cried too late.

He turned his head to the side, slowly.

Shinyu was standing by the window, back turned, arms behind his back. Still. Quiet. Like he didn’t know how to exist in that room anymore.

Kyungmin blinked.

He wanted to speak — to say something. But what?

“I’m back”?“I heard everything”?“I’m still hurting”?

None of the words fit.

So he didn’t say anything.

And that silence…

Was louder than any scream.

⋆˚。⋆

Youngjae stirred first.Then sat up.

His eyes met Kyungmin’s.

And widened.

“Kyungmin…”

The others woke in waves — one by one — startled, confused, then rushing to the bed.

“You’re awake—!”“Kyungmin-ah—!”“Oh my God…”

But Kyungmin didn’t smile.Didn’t cry.Didn’t even flinch.

He just blinked slowly.

Eyes dull.

Expression unreadable.

They hovered, unsure.

He turned his face away.

“I’ll… call the nurse,” Jihoon said awkwardly, stepping out.

Dohoon reached forward.

Kyungmin flinched.

The hand stopped mid-air.

“I… I just wanted to—”

Kyungmin didn’t look at him.

Didn’t look at any of them.

He stared at the wall.

Breathing slowly.Quietly.

As if they weren’t even there.

⋆˚。⋆

Shinyu finally turned around.

Stepped toward the bed.

Opened his mouth.

But when he saw the way Kyungmin wouldn’t meet his eyes — how his small hand curled into the sheets like it was bracing for another hit —he couldn’t speak.

Because no apology in the worldcould undo what had already been done.

Kyungmin was awake.

But not for them.

Not yet.

And maybe not ever.
