Chapter XI
05:37, 13 December 2022The very next day I went to my classes. It seemed to drag on and on and I was getting anxious.
I wasn't ready to let the world know about my scar, that would take some time, but I was comfortable with it visible with friends. My friends.
As soon as the last bell rang I stuffed my things into my bag and went back to the dorm. I want to look presentable if he was awake. Wait, do I have time for that? Shouldn't I go seen him right away?
No, I bet his mother is visiting him, I'll take my time. I pulled out the pink hoodie that Izuku gave me and some black jeans with my favorite sneakers. I brushed my teeth and fixed my hair. Should I wear a beanie? Yes, yes I should. I pulled on my black beanie to where is was pushing my hair in my face. I looked in the mirror and sighed. Why am I dressing up? He's probably not even awake.
A knock on my door yanked me out of my thoughts. I scrambled to open it and when I did...
"Hey, half n half, you have a minute?" Bakugou stood at the door, hands stuffed in the pockets of his black hoodie. Why was he here?
"Sure, come in." I step away from the door and he stomps inside. "May I ask why-"
"You were getting ready to go see that worthless Deku, right?" he cuts me off. I nod. "I want to know what happened yesterday. And you fucking better not hold anything back." The ashy blond sat on the couch and crossed his legs under him. I was confused, however, I complied with his request. I told him everything. To how we urged me to come out to where he made me a waffle to the TV delivery and set up.
"We were just about to watch something when he suddenly went pale and limp. I thought he fell asleep but when he responded... I knew something was wrong. He said something about his heart as he grabbed his chest in pain. He lost consciousness when the paramedics came." After I finished, we sat in silence. Bakugou was staring through me with an intense focus in his eyes.
"Do you know what caused it?" Bakugou asked, unusually calm like he knows something about him that I don't. I shake my head and he sighed. "So he hasn't told you yet, huh? What a dumbass," he snickered.
"Told me... what?" I say quietly, a little afraid of the answer. He stood up and shuffled to the door.
"I'm not gonna fucking waste my breath explaining it to you. It's better if that stupid shitty Deku tells you." And with that, he left. I sat there. Bakugou was unusually.... calm and... helpful in someway. I had a theory that Izuku was hiding something from me, and that blond bastard confirmed it for me and sheared light on how Izuku had experienced that before. I can't think about it anymore, I'm gonna go ask.
And so I locked the room and went straight to the hospital.
When I got there, I searched tirelessly for his room that the desk man gave directions for. Room 420 on the fourth floor. I finally came across a wooden door with the numbers nailed to it. I slowly open it up with a creak.
"Hello?" a small boys voice called. Izu's voice.
"Hi," I said, closing the door behind me. I looked around the room. Pastel yellow and white curtains that see out over half a roof and the other building next door. Not a nice view but you can at least get sunlight. Dark, pale blue chairs and a white board with markings line the wall in front of the bed. A white bed, where a cheery Izuku Midoryia is, sipping on a juice box. He's covered in IVs and heart monitors that are connected to his hospital gown covered chest. His legs were wrapped in two or three layers of white blankets and a portable table stretched over his lap.
"Oh! Hey Shoto!" Izuku said happily, the room lighting up from his smile. I take a seat and slide it over to the side of his bed and sit.
"How are you doing, Izuku?" I asked nonchalantly, a small smile gracing my face.
"Great! The nurses are so nice and the doctor is really funny." He chuckles a bit like a child. I... missed him. We only had three quarters of a day before he was sent here. I missed him even then. I want him to smile at me forever.
"Is it okay if I ask you a personal question?" I say reluctantly. I don't want him to stop smiling, but I need to know.
"You wanna know how I ended up here, right?" Izuku looked away and smiled sadly at his hands. I gulped, already regretting my decision.
"Yeah... if you don't mind."
"Okay... I have this condition..." he shifted in his bed and started scratching at his forearm. "My heart is.... abnormally bigger than a normal one. That causes it to go into A-PHIB sometimes, though it hasn't happened since I was eight or nine. I could just get surgery but... that's a risk I'm not willing to take. I feel like if I change my heart, I'm not me anymore," he explained. I couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the irony. I've always thought he had a big heart, but I didn't mean literally. "W-Why are you laughing?!" Izuku cried.
"It's just... ironic. I'm sorry," I recomposed myself quickly and gave him a kind smile.
"How is it...?"
"Have you ever heard of the expression 'a big heart with a kind soul'?" I asked. My mother used to say that I had a big heart of love for music before the incident. He looked at me in confusion.
"What does that mean?" Izuku cutely blinked for a moment.
"If you say someone has a 'big heart', it means they are a loving and gentle person with a 'kind soul'." I look down for a moment. "So when you said you had a abnormally large heart, that phrase entered my mind," my gaze met up again with his, "Because that saying describes you so well. Both physically and emotionally."
He stared at me with surprise before he gives me a closed eyes smile. I instantly blush at what I said. But before I could apologize he spoke.
"You're so sweet, Shoto. I think you have a 'big heart with a kind soul' too!" He giggled which only made my face redden more. I thought my lungs would collapse because he stole the air out of them. I looked away at some random object in the room. "So, what did I miss?"
"Well... everyone knows about my scar now," I inform.
"Wait, what?!" He pouted and crossed his arms. "Man, I missed all their reactions! What a bummer, but I'm proud," he smiled cheekily, his skin glowing and somehow making his freckles seem dark in the sunlight. He rambled on like normal and soon enough, I was forced out because visitation was over until 8:30 tomorrow morning. I didn't have many classes tomorrow since I've gotten all my work done today so I told him I'd come earlier tomorrow. I said goodbye and went back to campus.
-LARGE TIME SKIP: four weeks-
It's been a while since we had a break. Summer to be exact, but now it's fall, and there's a week long break. Izuku went home to spend time with his mom and the others with their relatives. I was spending my week at the campus, alone with an exception of very few.
I was working on some of my violin music until my ringtone disrupted me. It was my sister, Fuyumi. I haven't talked to her in like a year, so I immediately answer it.
"Oh hey Fuyumi, what's-"
"Come home now!" she screamed. I stiffen, this can't be good.
"Why?! What's going on?!" I say, sprinting to the kitchen to grab my car keys.
"It's father! He's.... out of control!!" Fuyumi cries over the phone.
"Have you called the police?!"
"N-No... not yet. I don't wanna get him in trouble if he-"
"Fuyumi! Where the fuck are you, you little bitch?!" A slam was heard after that and I speed off, not even bothering with my seat belt.
"Fuyumi run!!"
"Dad, stop!! Stop i-" dead call. It's a dead call. I throw my phone it the back seat and floor it. I'm speeding at the interstate and I make it there in under 15 minutes. It's a miracle that I didn't get pulled over.
I skidded in the driveway, turned off the car and slammed the door, sprinting to the front of the house and just when I was about the bang on the door, it was swung open and I was yanked by the collar and thrown inside.
"Ah, So you came running back, eh?" Endeavor laughed psychotically. Was he drunk? I sprung to my feet.
"Where's my family?" I growled, readying my fist to fight this monster.
"Shoto!" I heard. Ignoring the beast, I immediately run towards it. I open the bathroom door and find Natsuo with Fuyumi and Kasai. Fuyumi was passed out in Natsuo's arms and Kasai was shaking like a leaf. She's far too young for this, she's only 13. I yank my phone out of my pocket and hand it to them.
"Call 911 and lock this door and don't open it until an officer demands," I say quickly before I close it. I heard footsteps, big and hard ones. "Hurry!" I yell, and I hear a click before I'm yanked back and dragged by the collar.
"I'll deal with you first," he scowls. I struggle against his grip and he slams me down. I sigh before I see the bottom of his foot. I barely dodge it before it could crush my head and I spring up in a fighting stance. "Damn you! Give up already!!" He charged at me with a punch. It was so quick I was knocked against the wall before I had a chance. My nose was bleeding.
"You bastard! What did I warn you about?! Hurt my siblings you're going to prison!" I dodge another attack and punch him in the gut. He grunts and stumbles back.
"You little shit!" He swings his fist and I kick him in the face with the momentum I had on the floor. He falls backwards but quickly gets up. We continue to fight and I hit him with a lot of little attacks while he swings with very few hits.
I quickly make a mistake and I'm thrown on the ground under his body weight.
"This'll make you learn!" the bastard screams as he continually punch's my face over and over. I start to get dizzy and my vision starts to fade. I feel his hands around my neck and I struggle to get air.
"S-St...o..p...." I could feel myself getting weaker. Before I pass out though, I hear shouts and a gunshot. I couldn't keep myself awake anymore, and I slipped into a black void.

Explanation: Kasai is a made up character that I thought would fit the story. She was two years old when Rei (mother) was taken away and she was under the care of the older siblings. The older siblings moved out except Natsuo because he wanted to stay and protect Kasai since she wasn't old enough to live on her own and her siblings could not afford or didn't have enough time to take of her just yet. Fuyumi went home to see how they were doing and unknowingly went into a war zone. Thus, she called Shoto for help because she didn't want to get her father sent away as well.
I hope that explained and answered questions of yours. But comment if you have any more. Bye!
