16:59, 2 September 2025EVIE POV
My alarm was ringing but I didn't want to get up.
The birds were twittering outside, the breeze was cold and I was caught up in my cozy bed, nothing could be better.
ring..ring...ring...ri-
click
Agnes had clicked on my alarm which had woken her up from her beauty sleep "Hey, roomie your alarms been ringing for the past 20 minutes" she reminded me, disturbed and annoyed
"Would you mind??"
"Sorry." I'm not. I slowly got out of bed and raced to the bathroom
"I was here first" she grinned "go ahead, it seems you need it more" I grin back, it made her even more pissed.
I sat down near the window of our dorm, pondering around Principal Dorts offer and waiting for my roommate to finally get out of the bathroom so I could stop hearing her sing.
I came to the Principals office after, so I could finally get that suggestion out of my head.
"well, would you look at that" he gives that all giddy smile, but I wouldn't be so easily fooled "please, take a seat Ms. Anderson"
"Let me get things clear first before I agree to this,"
"Go fish." he keeps that overly friendly tone in his voice, though I only speak facts.
"Would It be managed by me?"
"Yes, ofcourse! Under my rules and regulations." so in summary it would still be controlled by him
"No, thanks-" I stood up from the chair, until
"Free Scholarship?" he coughed, did he know about my dad? or was he really just that desperate and got lucky?
I stop and sit back down "Scholarship?"
"yes, valid until next year, if you decide to agree. I mean, all you need to do is write, give all the updates, and whatever unusual things you see"
I raise an eyebrow, "Why are you doing this Principal dort?" it seemed unusual, for a principal to be meddling in other peoples business
"Well, its my job to be informed about what my students are doing right? Don't worry, your identity will be a secret. Plus it will be good for sponsors"
I've never encountered a principal that was so obsessed with sponsors before. Maybe I wasn't the only one going broke.
"Fine, ill agree, if you add some money" Call me greedy, but that scholarship is what I need to stay, plus I need something that will keep me and my dad alive, and I don't want to work at Pilgrim World again. "100$ per week"
"That's way too high of a price Ms. Anderson"
"Well if you want tea, where else would you be getting this deal?"
"5$" He says, we're naming prices now. I hate to break it to you Principal Dort but my dad and I used to do this all the time, except its for chores.
"50$"
"10$"
"45$" look Mr. Dort, I've already halfed the price I had asked for- if I was you I would have already taken it, unless well yeah you're broke.
"20$"
"30$ last chance." Its either my way or the highway sir.
He thought about it for a moment before turning back to me "Fine. You better be good."
"A deal is a deal Principal Dort."
As I exit the office, I stumbled on Bianca, entering at the same time "Oh- Evie, how have you been?"
"Great, you?"
"Great aswell" she looked me up and down "Principal Dort called you here early huh?"
He didn't call me exactly, but for the sake of secrecy "Yeah, you too?"
she nodded, Bianca smiled, though I felt that something was making her feel uneasy.
Later that day, I and a few other DaVinci's were organizing the first ever Founders Pyre in a very long time. I was talking with Rin, until Daniel came up to us.
I wanted to evanese // a word here which means to slowly dissappear or fade away//, but it was too late I've already mad eye contact with him.
Dan, was...was my old crush, I labeled it as infatuation, because my dad told me real love doesn't come from chasing someone, it comes naturally. And I believed him, and never looked back.
"Hey Rin. Oh-" he gives me that smile, "Evie, its been a long time." he remembers me? how?? ive been ignoring him for the past 3 years!
"You look great. How are you?"
I give a slight nod, "Good" Rin meanwhile is giving me a look, a look that makes me want to bolt out the field and curdle myself in bed.
"You coming to the founders Pyre later? lets catch up." he was the same as before, approachable, friendly, after all he was my first ever friend at nevermore.
"I'll see if I'm not busy." I'm not at all busy later, I just don't attend events, unless its required.
"Well I hope your not that busy." he waves at us and I stare in confusion, why so suddenly? well obviously i've ignored him- but even then I see him around the school and he sees me too, so why now when it might be my last school year here??
A hand waving in front of my face brought me back to reality "Earth to Evie, I know you just got asked out by your childhood crush but we still have to build the Pyre you know."
ASKED OUT?? "Woah, to be clear, he did NOT ask me out"
"He technically did, unless the way he asked and looked at you was friendly?" she questioned
I scoffed "He's like that to everyone, He's not asking me out."
"He is"
"He's not"
"He. is."
"Are we going to do this over and over again he is -"
"NOT" said a voice from behind, I turn around to see both Eugene and Pugsley narrowing their eyes at me "Hes not asking her out, and even if he did you wouldn't agree right??" Eugene scoffed
"Well-" Rin grabbed my arm interrupting me before I could even say anything
"Uhm who are you to know Eugene?? Evie has had a crush on Dan for 3 years already." she argued
Oh dear God just take me away.
"Is Dan that guy earlier??" Pugsley asked Eugene
I thought we had boundaries?? "YOU TOLD HIM?'
"To be fair you we're hanging out with some new friends, I couldn't even contact you, so I had no other choice but to hang out with this guy." he pointed to Pugsley, who looked at him confused and a bit offended
"Excuse me? you're the one who has new friends, you couldn't even text me during the summer. Plus you barely hung out with me yesterday, heck I even spent more time with Pugsley" I didnt mean to say that last part so harsh, but it was the truth, Eugene had changed over the course of the summer that I could barely even recognize the boy I had been friends with.
Meanwhile Pugsley looked upset and insulted, "Pugsley wait I didnt mean to-
"I have to go" he muttered, while Eugene kept on giving me reasons that I couldn't even pay attention to, because for some reason, I keep hurting someone I actually want to be friends with, we had just started to forgive each other from yesterdays events and now I need to find a way to ask for forgiveness again.
"Whatever. I'm sorry" Eugene apologizes "I know you don't attend events, don't worry I'm not going either."
He lied. And I did attend the Founders Pyre, but not for the reasons you think, I'm not going because of Dan, I'm in need for some updates.
I was standing next to the Pyre we had just built, it was gorgeous, but like every good thing, it has to come to an end. I feel like burning it would just be a waste, I'd rather let it stay in the middle of the field as decoration, it would make the scenery a bit-
"Hey" I didnt have to turn around, I already knew who it was. My brain was making up 5000 excuses to get out of that situation, one was grabbing a stick from the pyre and stabbing him.
He tapped on my shoulder and I debated whether or not to use my Judo skills- but I didnt.
"You came." Dan says with a smile
"Well- yeah I did." you know that feeling that you feel in your gut, that something feels off? I'm feeling it right now though this time, I can't figure out if its just butterflies.
He shifts his weight from one foot to the other, hands tucked into his jacket pockets like he's trying too hard to look casual. "I wasn't sure if you'd actually show up. You kind of... disappear everytime I try to approach you."
"That wasn't disappearing. That was-" I pause, searching for a word that doesn't sound like running away, "retreating. I must have forgotten something in the dorm."
His laugh is quiet, low, and somehow that annoys me more than if he'd burst out cackling. "Retreat?, huh? I should have know you always find a way to make bailing on someone sound less worse."
I roll my eyes, but the corners of my mouth twitch before I can stop them. Shoot. This is exactly what I was afraid of-its just like no time had passed at all.
"So," he leans in slightly, lowering his voice, "are you gonna tell me why you're actually here? Or do I have to keep guessing?"
My brain scrambles for another excuse-anything but the truth, the butterflies (or maybe alarm bells) in my stomach won't shut up long enough for me to think straight.
Instead, I cross my arms. "Why? Did you miss me?"
He grins, and the worst part is he doesn't answer right away. Each nerve in my body felt like it was about to explode out of anxiety and anticipation until-
"Yeah I did." he confessed, I stopped mid walk, That- was the least expected answer from Daniel Laslow.
Thank God, Principal Dort, had already decided to start the event, or I would have figured out a way to be Usain Bolt. We both stood next to each other in silence.
Enid screams "Wednesday Addams is under the Pyre!!!" running to me "Wednesday's under the Pyre!!" it was too late, the Pyre was already lit, as me and Enid watch in horror, until-
Wednesday resurfaced.
Relieved, I kept Enid close, I did not want to suffer in silence next to a guy who had just admitted that he missed me and potentially ask me out if I don't escape any sooner.
Principal Dort had uncovered this painting he had planned to put on Nevermore's walls, it was a portrait of Wednesday smiling and the rest of the group who saved the school, and when I tell you, I'd rather that get burned than the Pyre, I mean it. Wednesday has the same opinion as she burns it down at stake.
At the corner of my eye I see Pugsley sneaking off to the Woods. Part of me wants to stay, but my curiosity gets the better of me.
The night air was cold and, damp with mist. It was dark which made it easier to fade into the shadows.
What is he up to this time? I thought, my frustration curling in my chest. I had been seconds away from staying with Dan, and seconds away from a potential relationship, and yet here I am, stalking Pugsley Addams. After all you never know what an Addams might be up to.
As I crept closer, A twig snapped under my boot. Shit.
Pugsley froze. His head turned around to where I was. His brows furrowed as he stepped forward. "...Hello?"
Shit. Shit. Shit.
I ran to the darkest possible space where there's no way I could be seen.
"I know someone's there," he muttered, "You can't stop me."
He pressed his ear on the Skull Tree, as I try to catch my breath against a trunk.
Sneaking off to Skull Tree is already a bad Idea, the woods that surround it was even more dangerous, and I had no choice but to run back to Nevermore, before I get mauled by something out here.
"Frinkin' Addams"
(A/M: I added more dialogue amogst the characters but idk if its gud or not huhu, and introducing some New characters, Daniel Laslow, and Rin Tanaka, Rin is the younger sister of Yoko Tanaka, cause like we didn't see Yoko this second season, so I made an OC just to cope HAHAHAH, and Daniel Laslow, Is like what the fic said, is Evie's old crush, so you can potentially see a jealous Pugsley in the following chapterss. Speaking of Pugsley I will finally be switching to his POV in the next chapterr, im super excited so stay tuned!!)
