The Big Boob and The Big Loser
00:35, 8 September 2015Chapter 4- The Big Boob and The Big Loser
Cora awoke the next day to Charlotte next to her the girl looked as if she was sleeping peacefully. Cora rolled off their pathetic mattress and laced up her boots running her hands through her messy wave of hair. She stood up grabbing a long sleeve sliding it over her cream tank, then grabbing her jacket walking out the be greeted by the sounds of a dying Jasper. She sighed finishing off her braid she walked towards the drop ship to see if she could help with Jasper at all then she was going to go on that hunting trip with Bellamy and Mat. She walks past Murphy and and Bellamy throwing knifes at a tree, "That damn kid, always messing with my head." Murphy whined his knife not making a dent in the tree."
"He's not gonna last much longer. Better think of a new excuse," Bellamy said holding his axe firmly ready to throw it.
"Well I don't l know getting kicked in the balls could give him an extra week," Cora held back small laugh walking towards the boys.
Bellamy looked down smiling at the ground before looking back up to hear Murphy groan, "What are you doing here?"
"Well lets see I have nothing to do and as much as I hate the sight of your face I'd rather get my anger out on an animal, unless you'd rather it be yourself," Cora offered standing next to Bellamy.
"Whatever," he groaned throwing the knife once more to have it bounce off.
"Here let me see that," Cora said sticking out her hand, she urged shaking her hand raising her eyebrow's. "Don't be a girl give it here." Murphy rolled his eyes handing her the knife. She changed her posture standing slightly to the side. Cora brought back her arm and threw the knife, she smiled seeing the knife stick in the tree for a couple seconds before falling to the ground.
Murphy scoffed, "Oh so much better."
"At least mine stuck," Cora snapped back.
"You didn't have that bad of posture just um, move your hip this way a bit, keep your shoulders up and follow through with your arm," Bellamy said placing his hand on her hips moving to the correct spot, Cora nodded as she straighten out her shoulders. "So when you're throwing it point your elbow, movie your arms like this and keep you hand point at the object after you let go of the knife," he said as he moved her arms for her giving her the feel of what it should be like.
"Okay so like this?" She asked moving her arms the way he said.
"Yeah exactly," a small smile worked it's way on to Bellamy's lips. "And when you're moving your arms you wanna move you body with it so, pretend to throw." Bellamy said and she put her arm up, he placed his hands on her hips, she swallowed back any feelings of butterflies, now they were just in her stomach, an internal stabbing of feelings. His placing of his hands made her anxious. "As you move your arm move you hips as well," he said as she moved her arms Bellamy guided her lower body. She nodded as she relaxed her body inhaling through her nose and exhaling through her mouth. Once more Cora tried it on her own and Bellamy nodded. "Yeah, that's good," Cora nodded as she moved letting of the knife this time, the three seem to be surprised by the fact she'd actually done it.
Murphy scoffed, "Little Scout gets help from the king and suddenly she's the best student."
Cora rolled her eyes, "Murphy would you like some help I'm sure there's a knot in your little undies that ya need to fix." She spoke slightly angered pulling the knife down and out of the tree. "Here ya go princess no need to bitch anymore," she handed the knife back to Murphy.
Bellamy chuckled as Atom and some other kid walked over, "We searched a half-mile all directions. No sign of Trina or Pascal."
"Visit your special tree when you were out there?" Murphy asked Atom's mood dropped.
"At least he can get some," Cora mumbled sliding her hands into the back of her jean pockets. Bellamy glared at her for a moment. "Alright, I'm butting out just let me know when your leaving," Cora patted his back. "Oh and Atom, I ship it," Cora raised her eyebrows for a moment and shrugging before walking away.
"Atom took his punishment. Let it go," Bellamy said as she walked away.
Cora walked towards the drop ship hearing foot steps trail her, the foot steps stopped as she was picked up by the waist. She squealed as she was put down seeing a light brown curly head full of hair, "Mat you little shit." He smiled wrapping his arms around her shoulder. "I need to ask you something."
"Shoot," he said walking towards the drop ship.
"That thing you did yesterday, before I left, what was that?" She asked thinking back to the small little kiss he planted on her cheek.
"That depends what do you think that was?" Mat asked a smirk across his face.
"I think it was a kiss from you, that was placed on my cheek," she replied looking at him.
"Well, there's your answer," he chuckled, she responded by elbowing him not getting an answer she wanted.
"I'm serious," Cora stopped walking and turned looking at him.
"Cora," he paused looking at her. "Cora I like you, a lot. And the kiss well this, this is what it meant," Mat spoke easily then cupped Cora's cheek planting on of those sweet kisses onto her lips. He pulled back slightly for a moment, resting his forehead on her's.
"I like you too," she mumbled a cheeky smile tugged at her lips.
"Then it's simple, I like you, I mean you obviously like me, and Charlotte is sleeping where I should be," A small giggle slipped her lips as she looked at him.
"Okay I need to go help Clarke with Jasper so I'll see you-"
"On that hunting trip?"
"On that hunting trip," and with that Cora walked towards the drop ship. Right as she walked in the sounds of groaning in annoyance and the screaming of Jasper could be heard all over. She climbed up the ladder seeing a small expression of fear on everyone's faces.
"Hold him still. I need to cut away the infected flesh." Cora climbed up to hear, she paced over to sit down next to Octavia. She immediately pushed down on his shoulders seeing Clarke was doing something crafty with a really a blazing orange-yellow knife.
"Stop! You're killing him," Octavia choked out helping them hold Jasper down contradicting what she was saying.
"She's trying to save his life," Finn said his voice hoarse and starchy. Cora noticed how attractive his voice was, made sense why everyone wanted to sleep with him.
"She can't," everyone glanced over seeing that messy brown head of hair that came up the ladder.
"Back off," Wells said standing his ground, the kid who had all things against him still didn't give up.
"We didn't drag him through miles of woods just to let him die." Clarke said her voice laced with annoyance.
"Kid's a goner. If you can't see that, you're deluded. He's making people crazy."
"You're not gonna see if you don't shut the hell up," Cora spat dabbing Jasper's forehead not looking at the brown haired dick. She couldn't decide, whether he was a good guy or if he was just a class A dick.
"Sorry if Jasper's an inconvenience to you, but this isn't the Ark. Down here every life matters," Clarke continued glaring at Bellamy.
"Take a look at him, he's a lost cause."
"Octavia, I've spent my whole life watching my mother heal people. If I say there's hope, there's hope," Clarke said looking at the girl who was overwhelmingly frustrated.
"This isn't about hope, it's about guts. You don't have the guts to make the hard choices. I do. He's been like this for three days. If he's not better by tomorrow, I'll kill him myself." Clarke glared at Bellamy and Cora continued to dab Jasper's forehead. She was annoyed with Bellamy was saying, if it was him in this spot everyone would be worried that the man whore of a leader was dying and that 'Clarke! You must save him!' "Octavia, let's go."
"I'm staying here," she spat back just annoyed with her brother like everyone else.
"Power-hungry, self-serving jackass. He doesn't care about anyone but himself. No offense," Monty said harshly but then softened looking at Octavia.
"Yeah. Bellamy is all that. But he also happens to be right," Finn said in defeat.
"I.. I gotta go that hunting thing. I'll um see you guys later," Cora said standing up. She climbed down the latter and walked out the drop ship and ran to catch up with Bellamy. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Cora asked annoyed barging into his tent to see Bellamy and two girl dressing themselves. She was hit with a couple whines and angry threats and brushed them off like it was nothing.
"Listen Scout, now really isn't the time," he said trying to push her out.
"Then make the time," She pushed past him grabbing the girls who were clothed by the ears. They whined as Cora dragged them out and looked back at him, "look now you have time."
"What do you want Cora?" Bellamy asked in annoyance, he crossed his arms looking down at her.
Her fiery blue eyes stared into his, "That Lost Cause of yours, saved Octavia's life. You have no right to threaten his life. If it was you dying, every single slut in this camp would be killing people by the masses so that they could get your dick once you healed. So I'm sorry Bellamy Man Whore Blake if Jasper is becoming a cock block but the fact you think you have the right to end someone's life when they did nothing but help, makes you no better than the Council." Cora's glare didn't drop as she spat the hateful words in his face. Her shoulders were held back as she clenched her fist avoiding punching him in the face once more.
"If I'm a man whore does that make you a slut?" He spat back in question his eyes narrowed as he looked down upon her. Cora pushed back the painful memories of the past where that word was, directed towards her.
"If I'm the so called slut let me give a nice gift," she paused a moment before clashing her fist to his cheekbone. "Have some bitch kiss it better," she spoke bitterly watching him stumble back. Once more she left infuriated by him. She grabbed the same knife she took from Murphy and sat on a log with a small pouch with a piece of the parachute in it in case of catching an animal. She took the knife and held it firmly. She looked at it for a moment before putting it away and grabbing a stick. Cora drew small little things rethinking the conversation. Bellamy Man Whore Blake!- If I'm a man whore does that make you a slut?
Her thoughts were interrupted as someone sat down next to her grabbing her hand. He intertwined their fingers and his thumb gazed across the back of her hand in circles. "Hey," Cora looked up to see Mat his eyes full of life, laughter, purity, things she wished still ran freely in her veins not just sometimes.
"Hey," Cora responded softly looking at him.
"You okay?"
"Peachy. Do you think I'm a slut?" Cora asked randomly.
Mat scoffed, "Dear god I hope not."
"I'm serious," she looked at him worry filling her eyes.
"If you were a slut you'd be one loyal slut. But you're not a slut, you're a beautiful blonde sass queen, with amazing blue eyes and someone who has me wrapped around their cute little fingers." She smiled slightly before he kissed her forehead. "You ready?" Mat asked standing up.
"Yeah, lets just get this done and over with," she mumbled getting up.
Mat chuckled walking with her their hands parting as they walked on. Cora held her knife tightly avoiding Bellamy at all costs. "Hey Mat," his head popped up seeing Bellamy call him over.
"What's up?" He asked as they walked next to each other.
"So you and Cora you guys a thing?" He asked looking around.
"Yep. Are you and your ego a thing?"
Bellamy rolled his eyes, "Cute."
"Why do you ask?"
"I hate to be the dick but you know her past as well as any other guy and I've seen her train and-"
"Bellamy the point."
"Don't be stupid. She's a great girl but the way she's been scarred-"
"If your trying to tell me to not to be like you, I know. She's different, she's not some slutty piece of trash. She's Cora."
Bellamy swallowed hard looking at him, "good." Mat walked off to Cora taking her hand into his. Bellamy watched and sighed realizing that what he said was wrong. The group of hunters walked for a bit finally spotting a set of tracks. Cora led the way staying more in the brush avoiding to leave footprints. "She's mine," Bellamy whispered before a twig snapped behind him, by instinct he threw his axe it hit the tree next to Charlotte's face. The boar ran off and everyone chased it, but Bellamy, Cora, Atom and Mat.
"Charlotte what the hell are you doing?" Cora asked walking up next to Bellamy and Atom Mat behind her.
She came out form the brush and looked at the four, "Well, with that guy who was dying I just couldn't listen anymore."
"The grounders are out here. It's to dangerous for a little girl," Atom said looking at her then Cora.
Cora brushed off his look she wanted nothing to do with the bitch pack at the moment, "I'm not a little girl."
Bellamy's angered face turned more soft with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips, "Okay then," he paused pulling out a knife. "But you can't hunt without a weapon. Ever killed something before?" Charlotte shook her head no in response as she took the knife from him. "Well who knows, maybe your good at it." Charlotte smiled as Bellamy stood, she walked over to Cora who was surprised by the fact that Bellamy let her stay.
"Okay next time you wanna go hunting, let me know. The last thing I need an axe through your head," Cora said going to catch up with the rest of the group. Charlotte smiled and nodded walking with the knife in hand. They walked a bit finally seeing the others.
"Cora, do you have the parachute?" A kid asked as she looked at the bore with a gash in its neck.
"Yeah here," she slid off her belt-made bag and tossed it to him. She was looking off in the distance, she was used to the thick fog and it being more of a cream white, all she could see is that it was more a puke yellow.
"Hey you okay?" Mat asked walking up next to her.
"Yeah just, what is that?" I was moving rapidly, looked like ocean waves tumbling over the other. As it approached a blood hurling scream could be heard. "Run.. Run! Go now!" Cora said turning and starting to run. She had lost Mat when she heard Bellamy say something about caves. She looked to find body's when she heard small girl scream. "Charlotte!" Cora shouted running to the scream she found Bellamy and Charlotte running into a cave she followed.
"Bellamy!" Atom shouted Cora looked back to try and find him, her hand was slightly burned. She cried out making her way to the cave.
She saw Bellamy debating whether to find him, "Bellamy we gotta get in the cave!" She coughed through the air. "Come on!" Cora pushed on his chest trying to get him inside. "Bellamy your no help if you die out there. When the fog subsides we'll find him." He gave up and ran with her into the cave meeting up with Charlotte. "Oh my god.. Mat." Cora said to herself looking out at the way the entrance.
-
Cora had sat on the opposite wall of Bellamy while Charlotte laid asleep. She closed her eyes leaning her head against the rocky wall. Charlotte awoke screaming a fit and Bellamy perked up looking at her grab a rock. "Fuck you!" She said throwing it. Cora didn't move, she had grown to that quickly.
"Fuck you?" Bellamy questioned raising an eyebrow looking at Charlotte.
"Um Cora said when I have those nightmares to throw a rock and scream that."
A grin grew on Cora's face as she kept her eyes shut. "What are you scared of?" He asked as there was a pause as Charlotte remained silent. Cora opened her eyes looking at the two, "You know what? It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what you do about it."
"But, I'm asleep," she responded her voice of confidence seemed low rethinking the dream.
"Fears are fears. Slay your demons when you're awake, they won't be there to get you when you sleep," Cora listened to him speech smiling slightly.
"Yeah but, how?" Charlotte asked furrowing her eyebrows together.
"You can't afford to be weak. Down here, weakness is death, fear is death. Let me see that knife I gave you," Bellamy spoke strongly sticking out his hand. Charlotte gave him the knife looking to see what he was gonna do. Bellamy gripped the knife tightly looking at her, "Now, when you feel afraid, you hold tight to that knife and you say, 'screw you, I'm not afraid.'"
Bellamy handed her the knife back after speaking words that he'd probably had said to Octavia when she was younger. Charlotte took the knife repeating Bellmy's words, "Screw you, I'm not afraid." Bellamy looked at her the same look Cora had given her when she wanted her to try it again. "Screw you, I'm not afraid," her voice had more confidence as Bellamy smiled patting her back.
"Slay your demons kids. Then you'll be able to sleep." He sat back were he was and watched her as she continued to repeat the sentence. It'd taken about twenty minutes before Cora had fallen asleep and her head rested on the moist, mossy rocked-wall cave walls. Charlotte had moved to braid her long blonde mess of hair. Bellamy watched another small smile tugging at his lips, "Having fun?" He asked his words were hushed breaking the silence.
"Yeah I guess, it just looked like a mess. Plus I have nothing else to do."
"Sounds fun," he chuckled.
"Come here, I assume you know how to braid and well I need help with that side," Charlotte said not looking at him still braiding.
"Charlotte I don't exactly know how to braid."
"What?" She asked her voice pitching causing Cora to shift.
"I was more worried about keeping my sister clothed and fed then her hair looking good."
"Get over here," she said as Bellamy sighed getting up and sitting down on the other side of Cora. "Three strands of hair," she paused showing him. He grabbed the hair then tuned out what she was saying and just looked at what she was doing and did it.
"So what else has this Big Loser taught you?" She giggled looking at him. Her eyes lit up as he raised his eyebrows, "What?" He asked curious to her answer.
"Nothing it's just you guys both have big nicknames for one another. I mean you called her Big Loser and she called you a Big Boob."
Bellamy smiled a quick nod, "A Big Boob, good to know."
"She said it I just implied it."
-
"Alex, where are we going?" Cora asked as he led her out of her cell.
"Training," she could hear the excitement in his voice as they left the cell block.
"Okay where are we training?" She asked avoiding to look at anyone, butterflies had made their way down to her stomach. She'd been locked up so long she forgot what the halls of the Ark looked like. As they passed the windows she stole glances of Earth she had missed all the beauty it held.
"Where the guard train," her stomach had dropped, "the cell is to small and yes I got permission," he looked over his shoulder seeing the girl have a different look in her eyes.
"Are there gonna be like, people there?"
"Yep," Alex said with a smirk on his face. There were few people Cora had actually seen since locked up. He pulled out his key card opening the door to a room with guard members working out. "Come on," he said taking her hand pulling her in, the door closed behind her as she made her way to the mat. "Shoes, and put your hair up," he spoke taking off his own shoes. She did as told a few strands sticking out.
Walking onto the mat the blue plush absorbed her foot prints leaving trails as she walked forward. "Hey just like in your in the cell okay?" He told her seeing her tall stance cower from the number of people. She nodded as they got into position. She threw the first punch which he dodged striking back with a blow to her side. Her response was a kick to his side, he grabbed her foot twisting it causing her to drop with a small cry of pain. He let go seeing the girl stay on the floor hit the back of her head against the mat. Alex stuck out a hand helping her up, "Cora, it's no different from your cell. Block out the sounds, it's just you and me."
Cora nodded, "Okay," she held her fists up ready for another brawl. Alex threw the first punch, she avoided it like she did the next two. She smile light on her feet, she threw a bluff punch meant to be avoided then hitting him on the side. A small cheer came from the crowd as she hit him twice more.
"Took you long enough," he smiled as they continued to fight, more people came around most dissing Alex for being beat by her. Cora smiled dancing around him as they exchanged punches and kicks.
"Dude you gotta check this girl out," a dark skinned boy said calling over a neatly placed chocolate haired boy with a face painted with freckles. "This is the only person I've seen able to keep up with him." There was a smile across Cora's face as they continued.
"She's somethin', he's training her. She's learning from one of the best, lucky her," freckle face responded crossing his arms looking at her.
She'd fallen once more as Alex helped her up, "Hey we gotta go come on. Go get a bottle of water and meet back here."
She nodded walking though the small amount of people who gave her a pat on her shoulders. She wondered around finding a table full of water bottles. Cora grabbed one taking a sip when a voice startled her, "Not to bad." There was a cheeky grin on his face as he stuck out his hand, "Bellamy."
Cora smiled shaking his hand quickly, "Cora." She closed the lid of her bottle holding the cap, " Well it was nice to meet you but-"
"Cora! Lets go!" Alex's voice chimed in interrupting.
"-I gotta go," she breathed out a laugh, "I'll see you around Bellamy," she smiled walking off.
-
Cora's body tensed as she awoke. She looked to her right seeing Charlotte dazing off in her own world, her original braid had been taken out and placed into many other braids all combined into one. Looking to her left she was greeted by the same freckle faced boy. "Hey Cora," he said quietly before speaking again, "I wanted to say sorry." His body suggest he'd done some thinking on what he was gonna say. "What I said was wrong and I'm sorry."
Cora smiled looking down then looked at him, "Careful Blake you don't wanna go soft." They both smiled at one another, "I forgive you. And the man whore thing I um didn't really mean it I just was angry and.."
"Oh is that an apology I hear coming from Cora, the insensitive?"
Cora scoffed looking at him, "Yeah Bellamy, I'm sorry."
"No worries Scout I forgive you," they both had the same small smile looking at one another. "So fuck you huh?"
"That's what I screamed at the guards or anyone when they pissed me off of made me feel weak."
"Well screw you seemed more appropriate."
"Psh whatever. I think the fog might've cleared, I'm gonna go check," Cora said standing up her thoughts searched back to Mat.
"Cora, he'll be okay." She nodded walking off. Soon Bellamy was waking up Charlotte and walking outside. "It's all clear. Anybody out here? Jones?" Bellamy's voice grew louder trying to find others.
"Mat?" Cora shouted looking around.
"We're here!" The response came from Jones they walked towards each other meeting up.
"Cora!" Mat said wrapping his arms around her waist she stood slightly on her toes wrapping her arms around his neck. Holding for a moment he let go keeping an arm wrapped around her.
"Where's Atom?" Bellamy asked and everyone looked at each other a expression and feeling of worry spreading through their bodies.
The silence was broke when everyone's head snapped up hearing Charlotte scream. Bellamy and Cora ran over to see Atom lying on the ground covered in burns. Cora stopped where Charlotte was and Bellamy walked towards him. She turned around to see everyone staring at the boy in a mournful look. Cora new they wanted to help but realty was they couldn't, "Cora, hey you okay?" Mat asked cupping her cheeks blocking her view of the boy.
"Yeah, can you make sure everyone gets back to camp. I don't think Bellamy should be alone," Cora said kissing his cheek and walking over to Bellamy.
"Go back to camp," Bellamy said using whatever strength he had left in his voice. "You to Charlotte," she left as Cora sat on the other side of Atom. Bellamy knew what he had to do but he physically couldn't.
A twig broke and they could see Clarke walking over, "I heard screams."
"Charlotte found him. I sent her back to camp." Clarke looked over Atom, Bellamy and Cora looked at her as she shook her head, Bellamy nodded and Cora began to run her hands through his hair. Clarke bit the inside of her cheeks, she knew Bellamy couldn't do it and Cora was gonna do it for him.
"It's gonna be okay," she swallowed still looking at him her hands raked through his hair. She took her other hand and gripped the knife from Bellamy's hand. He took his eyes off of Atom and looked at Cora, she started to hum something her mother would sing to her. Bellamy watched as she priced the knife into his skin. She nodded continuing to hum until his chest stopped moving. Cora ran her fingers over his eyes, she griped the knife staring at the boy whose life she just took.
From the distance Charlotte watched as Cora took Atom's life. She started to walk back to camp humming the same thing Cora did.
-
The walk back was deathly quiet, the chatter of the camp grew as they arrived. "We've gotta get to Jasper, I'll need boiled water to make the medicine," Clarke said walking towards the drop ship Finn following close behind.
Bellamy and Wells walked in next, carrying Atom on a gurney. "Get Clarke whatever she needs."
"I better go get this grave dug," Wells chimed in walking back out. Cora stayed outside the gates staring out into the dark forest. She could hear Bellamy try to stop Octavia from looking at Atom, it didn't work. Then Bellamy yelling at Murphy. Octavia walked past Cora and she followed.
"Octavia," Cora spoke up causing her to stop.
"What?" She snapped tears filling her eyes.
"Octavia, you have to know it wasn't your bother's fault. Okay? The fog came out of no where, he was helping Charlotte to the caves Atom fell. He wanted to go get him, I told him it was stupid that he was no use dead. I'm-" Cora's explanation and apology was cut off as Octavia slapped her.
"I don't want a damn apology from you just get out of my way," she pushed past Cora continuing on back inside to the drop ship.
"I'm sorry." Cora said walking in as well a couple minutes later. She walked towards her tent going inside and just simply going to sleep, she was completely done with the day. Closing her eyes one tear fell and soon she dazed off into sleep.
__
I'm not crying, you are. Okay maybe I am. Wow. Um I don't really know how to describe what's going on with my mind I just can't. I mean Bellamy and Cora fighting and making up, then there's just cute little Mat, and Charlotte don't even get me started. Poor Atom, do you think Cora feels guilty for his death? Idk man.
Can I just say the whole braiding and flashbacks were super cute!
