POV: JesSeriously, the trip to Paris was cold, but warm at the same time. Because Jes's heart was melting in Bible's presence. And when he heard that the younger might love him too? His heart basically exploded, like it was trying to break out of his chest and do cartwheels across the Champs-Élysées.
He genuinely thought he was going to get sick, not from the Paris chill, but from the overwhelming wave of feelings flooding him all at once.
Paris really was the city of love. They soaked in every second of it.
They visited the Louvre, wandered through the Versailles Gardens, and watched the sunset from a boat on the Seine while couples kissed on bridges around them like it was a scene out of a vintage film. After a perfect dinner, they went back to the hotel... and, well, they didn't sleep much.
They had sex all night long, tangled in each other like lovers with no morning in sight. And when they finally fell asleep and woke up in the warm, golden glow of the new day, Jes was already addicted.
To Bible's neck, specifically.
In the morning, when Bible was all soft and warm from the sheets, Jes couldn't help but sniff his neck. It smelled like freshly baked bread out of the oven.So good. So sweet. He was doomed.
But every beautiful vacation eventually comes to an end, and so the final morning in Paris broke.
Normally, people get a little gloomy when it's time to head home. But not these two.
No, Jes and Bible were giggling like lovesick idiots while stuffing their clothes into their suitcases. It was chaotic. Shirts half-folded, snacks tossed in randomly, and Bible already wearing the one thing he did buy during the trip, a brand new Rolex from the flagship store.
Jes had nearly choked when the price came up, but somehow still handed over his card.
"He's gonna make me broke," Jes muttered with a chuckle, watching Bible admire the way the luxury watch sparkled on his wrist.
Not that he regretted it. It looked so good on him. Elegant, sharp, sexy. Jes couldn't stop holding that specific hand with that specific Rolex on it the entire way back to the airport.
Bible, ever the dramatic one, sometimes tried to let go.„It's getting sweaty," he'd complain with a mock-grumpy face.
Jes? He just smiled and grabbed it back without hesitation.„So what," he'd say. "Let it sweat. I'm still holding it."
And just like that, they left Paris, hand in hand, hearts full, and the city of love now permanently etched into their story.

A few weeks later.
POV: Bible
"YOU—YOU RUINED MY LIFE!!" Bible screamed, voice echoing through Jes' office like a thunderclap. "I KNEW IT!! YOU TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME ALREADY!! AND NOW—NOW YOU WANNA TAKE MY SHARE OF THE COMPANY TOO?!"
Jes just stood there.
Silent. Frozen. Face unreadable. Bible's chest heaved as he stared at him, eyes blazing with betrayal, rage... and a touch of theatrical flair.
"I knew it... YOU SICK BASTARD!" he shrieked, before grabbing that decorative apple from the table.
Yes, that apple. The one he had already thrown once. Dramatically. At the door. During the first meltdown.
This time? He hurled it again, straight at the same door.
CRACK. The apple shattered into tragic little ceramic pieces. Bible stood there, panting, as the bits rolled across the marble floor. Both stared at the shattered apple.
It lay on the floor in jagged pieces, the once glossy red now dull and broken, like something else in the room had splintered with it. The silence was louder than any scream.
Jes took a step forward. Bible stepped back.
His hair was disheveled, his neck flushed a deep red, his breath uneven. The hurt in his eyes wasn't just hurt, it was rage. A cold, bloodied kind of rage that only blooms when it comes from someone you trusted too much.
Jes raised a hand, not to touch, just to plead. "Bible, hear me out. Please." His voice cracked. His whole composure was unraveling, tie askew, jaw clenched, blinking like he couldn't believe this was happening.
But Bible? He was far past disbelief.
"You..." His voice was lower now, shaking. "You lied to me."
Jes froze.
Bible laughed, one of those broken, bitter laughs that sound more like a cry. "You wanted to steal from my family? From me? After everything I let you see, everything I gave you, you were planning this behind my back?!"
Jes's lips parted, but nothing came out.
Bible's eyes glinted with the start of tears he refused to let fall. "Was I just a phase? A stupid little convenience while you plotted to take my legacy?"
Jes shook his head violently. "No. No—never. Bible, it's not like that, I swear. I—"
"You swear?!" Bible barked. "You swore when we signed those marriage papers too, Jes!"
Jes's face crumpled. "I do. I do love you."
Bible looked at him long and hard, something unreadable passing in his gaze.
"Ha... hahahaha. Right. I almost forgot. You said it was temporary, didn't you? One year." He scoffed, shaking his head. "God. I really thought... just for a second... maybe this could actually work. Maybe you actually—" He broke off, laughing again, emptier this time. "No. It's me. I'm the idiot."
Jes looked visibly shaken. His whole body stiffened like he'd been hit, not by a fist, but by the truth he'd run from for too long.
He was silent. And that silence? It was the final slap across Bible's face.
"So you really have nothing to say?" Bible asked, almost laughing now, but it wasn't joy. It was disbelief. Betrayal so deep it echoed.
Jes finally opened his mouth, voice gravelly. "I... I wanted to tell you."
"But you didn't." Bible snapped back. "And you had plenty of time."
Jes swallowed hard. "I know." Bible stared at him, burning.
"Paris." He spat the word like venom. "We were in Paris, Jes. Just two weeks ago. You looked at me like I was your everything. You told me you loved me in that stupid glowing Eiffel Tower light, held me like you meant it. And the whole time?"
His voice cracked.
"You were lying."
Jes's head dropped, the weight of his guilt too heavy to look him in the eye. Bible pressed on, bitter and hurt all at once.
"Tell me, was it hard to keep your mouth shut? Every time You told me how happy You were, how did you not choke on the lies stuck in your throat?"
Jes whispered, "I didn't want to lose you."
"No. What you didn't want," Bible interrupted, "was to risk the deal. You married me because you didn't just want to be CEO. No, that wasn't enough. You wanted my shares too. My part of the company. My family's legacy. You married me so you could take everything."
Jes lifted his eyes, pained.
"I didn't mean—"
"But you did." Bible cut him off, his voice rising. "You just didn't think I'd find out."
He stepped closer, face trembling with fury. "And you know what the best part is? I didn't even hear it from you. I had to learn it from my brother. Who heard it from your best friend. The one he's fucking, by the way. So while you were playing husband of the year, your whole damn scheme was spilling out from your circle of snakes."
Jes's eyes were wide now, like he was watching everything collapse in slow motion.
"You think I'm stupid?" Bible hissed. "You think because I smiled and held your hand and kissed you in public, I wouldn't notice how deep this cut?"
He stepped back, voice lower, almost a whisper.
"You used me."
Jes finally took a shaky step forward. "Bible, please—I love you—"
"Don't." Bible snapped. "Don't say that word again. You've already poisoned it."
Jes stood frozen, caught in the wreckage of the lie he built, while Bible turned away again, jaw clenched, eyes glistening.
"I need a moment." Bible raised his hand sharply, voice trembling. He couldn't look at Jes anymore, not without wanting to break down all over again.
He turned and stormed out the door. Jes rushed after him, desperate. "Bible—please, wait—"
Bible spun around, eyes burning, voice sharp like broken glass. "DON'T FOLLOW ME, YOU FAKE OF A FAKE HUSBAND!"
Jes froze. Just then, Job stepped in, grabbing Jes by the arm and silently shook his head. Not now. Let him go.
So Bible went. His heart was pounding, his fists clenched as he stormed outside. Of course, he thought. Of course he did everything those stupid employees or his "bestie" said. He was fuming.
He yanked the bike helmet from the seat, swung his leg over the motorbike, and muttered, "Never in my life..."
The visor clicked down.
"I feel so betrayed. So lied to..." he whispered, voice shaking.
His eyes welled up as he revved the engine. He took off, speeding through the streets. The cold wind hit him hard, but not harder than the truth he was running from.
"Stop crying," he hissed to himself. "Just drive. Just breathe."
But the tears didn't stop. They rolled down harder, faster, his vision growing more and more blurred.
And still...„And still I love that bastard," he whispered bitterly. "I couldn't even say I wanted to leave him. I couldn't say I wanted a divorce..."
More tears. More speed.
"But he lied. He fucking LIED! That HURTS!"
His fists tightened around the handlebars. His vision blurred completely.
And then—
Everything went black.

POV: Jes
Jes sat there in shattered pieces, his whole body sunken into the couch in his office. Job was speaking—he said something, probably important—but the words just rang in Jes's ears like muffled echoes. None of it landed. None of it mattered.
He was so, so stupid.
God, he hated himself for this.
When they were in Paris, he'd had the chance. So many chances. But how could he ruin it? Everything felt so perfect. The laughter, the cold air, Bible's warm hand in his.
He told himself, just not now. Let it wait. And somewhere in that lie, he started to believe that maybe... maybe he could live in the illusion. That maybe if he loved Bible hard enough, if he just showed it every day, the truth would fade away. Be forgiven before it even had to be spoken.
He thought about the little things—how Bible, who used to never stay home, suddenly waited for him. How he learned to cook for him, even if the rice turned out too mushy or the kitchen looked like a warzone. Bible, trying. Showing up. Making himself a real husband.
Jes had never been so happy.
And yet, even in that happiness, the guilt pressed down on him like a vice. A weight he carried in every stolen kiss. In every night he held Bible tighter, whispering I love you into his neck like it could erase what he hadn't said.
He'd meant it. Every word.
But still—he had kept the truth hidden.
Every time Bible looked at him with those sharp, dark eyes—eyes that had seen pain, guarded love, and still dared to soften for him—Jes felt that truth clawing at his throat. Bible didn't smile much, but when he did... God, when he did, it was like the sun rose just for Jes.
And still... he shoved the truth down.
I should have told him.
He thought it, over and over again like a punishment.
I should have told him when he still smiled at me.

When Jes returned home that night, the silence was deafening.
The apartment was dark—no lights on, no clatter from the kitchen, no familiar sound of Bible's slippers shuffling across the floor. No soft hum of music he always played when he was cooking or scrolling through his phone. Jes stood in the entryway, the door clicking shut behind him, and for a moment, he just... stood there. Listening. Hoping.
He knew Bible probably wouldn't be home. Not after everything. But it still hurt. God, it hurt—walking into a home that used to hold warmth and now felt like a shell.
Still, when he glanced around and saw Bible's clothes still hanging neatly on the rack, his shoes lined up just like in the morning, the kitten curled up in its usual spot on the couch, his chest flipped. A spark of hope ignited. He didn't leave for good... Jes told himself. He's just mad. He just needs space.
Jes nodded slowly to himself, forcing a breath in. I'll give him that. I'll wait. And then I'll talk to him. I'll fix this.
He walked to the fridge, grabbed a cold Fiji water bottle, popped the cap. The snap of the seal was sharp in the silence. He took a sip.
Ding-dong.
Jes froze. The bottle hovered halfway to his lips. His heart slammed in his chest. He wasn't expecting anyone. It was late. But hope surged violently in his chest.
Maybe... maybe it was Bible. Maybe he came back.
Jes rushed to the door, his breath catching.
But when he opened it—
Everything dropped.
The water bottle slipped from his hand and hit the floor, water spilling out like the blood draining from his face.
Two officers stood in front of him. One held a clipboard. The other had that look, one Jes had only seen in movies. That cold, practiced softness used when the worst news is delivered.
"Are you Mr. Tilapornputt?" one asked. "The husband of Bible Tilapornputt?"
Jes's throat closed. He nodded.
"I'm sorry," the officer said gently.
"Your husband's been in an accident. He's at the hospital."
