Chapter 25
00:19, 3 July 2021Sage had been staring at her best friend for over 10 minutes now, but the thing was that Sage didn't even realise that she was staring. She was still thinking about last night, even though it kinda went how she expected it to go it still surprised her but nevertheless brought a small smile to her face.
"I know I'm pretty but come on, you really gonna keep staring?" Sage snapped out of her trance throwing a small glare at her bestfriend. The pair were currently outside the school guidance counsellor's office, the Martin girl had yet another session with Miss Morrell and as much as Sage told the girl that she was not crazy, Lydia still wanted to attend her sessions.
"Shut up, I'll be waiting for you in the library okay. I gotta meet Stiles anyway." The vampire informed her bestfriend, Lydia gave the girl a suggestive smirk earning an eye roll from the blonde.
"Shut up, text me when you're done."

Stiles had been quiet for a while and it was starting to scare the vampire.
"Stiles?" Sage stared at the boy as he continued to stare at her, he hadn't blinked and the vampire was pretty sure that the human had stopped breathing. Sage place her fingers gently on the boy's nose, snapping him out of his state.
"Erm, I'm not sure if I heard correctly. Did you say that—we're soulmates?" Stiles wanted to applaud himself, he was freaking out big time. But he was doing his absolute best at not showing it.
...
Well, he did for all of 10 seconds.
"No that—that's what you said right?! SOULMATES—they—those exist!" The human stood up abruptly almost tripping over his own feet in the process, Sage could hear how fast his heart was beating and if he didn't calm down soon he would have a panic attack.
"Stiles calm down-"
"I am- I'm so calm. I just this- this is huge you know?! I mean the girl I've been obsessing over since she stepped foot into this town is literally my soulmate—oh God wait do you even have feelings for me? How is this gonna work—oh God —oh—"
The boy wouldn't shut up, she knew that he was close to having a panic attack by the way his breathing started to get uneven and the sound of his heart beating so aggressively against his chest. So she did the only thing she could do in that moment.
She kissed him.
It was like their first kiss all over again, people say that first kisses were always the best. The way the sparks feel between the two of you, the warmth that spreads through your body as you both become one.
Nothing is ever as good as the first kiss.
Boy were they wrong, this kiss was every bit as amazing as the first one.
Stiles was frozen in shock for a solid second before he started moving his lips along with Sage's, it was like second nature to him. The way he pulled her body closer to his, his hands gently resting on her waist as hers pressed gently against his chest. This had been the moment they both longed for since the formal.
They both didn't want to pull away, so they didn't.
The human lightly shivered when he felt the vampire run her hands up his chest before they settled around his neck, their kiss become a little more heated as Stiles squeezed her waist a little tighter as he backed up against the tree that was rooted behind them. However, the passionate kiss ended as they reluctantly pulled away from each other as they needed to come up for air.
Blue met brown as they stared at one another, their chests both rising and falling from the kiss they just shared. There weren't enough words in the world to describe how they were feeling but they both knew.
They were soulmates.

"It's everything Lydia can translate... and trust me, she was very confused," Allison said as she handed a tablet with a few pages of the bestiary translated. Scott looked up at her, "What did you tell her?" The teen wolf asked and Allison chuckled. "That we were part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures," Allison said making Stiles look up at her.
"I am part of an online gaming community that battles mythical creatures..." The human said seriously earning a slightly shocked looked from the huntress.
"Okay, does it say how to find out who's controlling him?" Scott asked and Allison shook her head. "Not really, but Sage and Stiles were right about the murders." She said making Stiles pump his fist in victory, "Yes!"
"It calls the Kanima a 'weapon of vengeance.' There's a story in there about this South American priest who uses the Kanima to execute murderers in his village-"
"All right, see? So, maybe it's not all that bad." Stiles spoke up with a little hope.
"Until the bond grew strong enough that it killed whoever he wanted it to."
"All bad. All very, very bad."
"But here's the thing." Allison spoke up, "The kanima is actually supposed to be a werewolf but it can't—"
Scott looked back at the translated page on the tablet, "Until it resolves that in its past which manifested it." Scott read out loud, "Okay if that means that Jackson could use a few thousand hours of therapy, I could've told you that myself." Stiles countered.
"What if—it has something to do with his parents, his real parents?" Allison suggested and Scott shrugged, "Yeah, does anybody actually know what happened to them?" He asked. "Lydia might, Sage too," Stiles said making Scott look at him.
"What if they don't know anything? Speaking of Sage, where is she?" Scott asked his best friend, Stiles cheeks reddened a little as he thought about his guardi- well his soulmate. God, it was gonna be hard getting used to that one.
"I don't know, she was supposed to meet us here 10 minutes ago." The boy replied as he looked down at his phone in hopes the vampire had sent him a text of her whereabouts.
"Well, we don't have to wait for her. I mean he doesn't have a restraining order against me, so I'll talk to him myself," Allison said and Scott nodded.
"Okay, what do I do?" Scott asked, "You have a make-up exam, remember?" His girlfriend reminded him gently making the boy sigh out, "Promise me— if he does anything, you run the other way."
"I can take care of myself."
"Allison, if you get hurt while I'm busy with some stupid test, someone's going to need to take care of me. If he does anything-" Scott said and Allison raised her eyebrows, "Like?" She asked. "Anything weird, or bizarre—anything...."
"Anything evil," Stiles finished off as he stuck his head through the shelves, almost hitting his forehead in the process. Allison gave the boy a look before pushing his head back through the shelves, making a few books fall in the process. Which made him quickly scrambled to catch them.
As soon as the girl left Scott starting interrogating his friend.
"So you gonna tell me what's up with you?"
Stiles scratched the back of his head nervously, "I—I don't know what you're talking about." The McCall boy gave his best friend a look before rolling his eyes. "Stiles, you seriously gonna lie to a werewolf?"
Stiles let out a sigh as the boys began walking out of the library, the human didn't even realise but his hands found the dog tag that was around his neck. It was comforting for him to play with it, it brought a smile to his face knowing what it meant to him. What it meant to his and Sage's relationship.
"So, remember when I told you that Sage said that our bond was different than her and Lydia's?" Scott nodded.
"Yeah so, it's because Sage isn't my guardian. She's my soulmate." Scott looked at his friend before he slightly laughed, he knew how in love his best friend was in with the vampire but soulmates was a bit of a stretch.
"Stiles, dude come on man—" Scott thought he was in way over his head, but from the look on the humans face he knew he wasn't joking.
"Woah, like real-life soulmates?!"
"Yup, she said Deaton and her witchy friend told her. Can you believe it? I'm destined to be with one of the hottest girls to ever exist. How can I be so lucky?" Stiles wasn't really asking his best friend, he was asking himself. He generally didn't know how he could be so lucky, he had been wondering if the blonde vampire returned his feelings, and after the gift and the kiss, he didn't have to wonder anymore.

Sage watched with a smile on her face as Stiles continued to chase Lydia down the hallway, from what she could hear he wanted to know about Jackson and his parents. It was amusing for Sage to watch, she knew how much the Stilinski boy was starting to grow on her but Lydia always tried to act like she knew nothing about the boy just so she could watch her best friend correct her.
Both Sage and Lydia knew why the buzz-cut human was asking about Jackson but Sage knew, no matter how much pain the Whittemore boy caused Lydia, she would never betray his trust like that.
"Was that a question?" Sage leaned up against her locker waiting for her friend, but to amuse herself even more she tuned in and heard Lydia ask the boy something, she was probably confused about the number of questions he spewed out to her.
Stiles pursed his lips, looking almost frustrated. "It felt like a question.
"Well..." She trailed, a faint smirk tugging at her lips. "Tell me if this feels like an answer." She paused, her eyes glistening in amusement. "No." She said bluntly before strutting away from him.
Sage giggled to herself as she saw a baffled looking Stiles staring at Lydia as she continued walking away. Moving her eyes from her soulmate, Sage watched as Lydia walked up to her with a triumphant smile, "Did you have to do him like that?" The blonde mused.
Lydia tilted her head to the side before shaking her head at her guardian, ever since Sage told the Martin girl about the supernatural Lydia started to make sense of this crazy town. The Animal attacks from last year all came down to Peter Hale, that name only brought shivers and nightmares to the strawberry blonde. She went through something traumatic a couple weeks back but she survived and she was glad she had her guardian by her side.
"What fun would it be if we just gave the boys want they wanted?" Sage couldn't help but laugh at the girl, but her amused eyes soon hardened when she looked over her best friends shoulder, Lydia's brows scrunched in confusion when she noticed the look on her guardian's face, she glanced to see where Sage was staring at caught Erica Reyes pressing Stiles against the wall with her boobs practically out.
Lydia could feel the rage steaming off of her guardian and when she turned around she was met with a bloodthirsty vampire, her purple eyes shining and her fangs almost protruding out of her gums.
"Hey, calm down- shes just trying to get a rise out of him and by doing that it's getting one out of you too," Lydia said trying to calm down her friend,
"I'm gonna rip her lungs out of her mouth." But before Lydia could even stop her, Sage began marching her way towards the nervous filled human and the barbie headed bitch.
Lydia shrugged knowing if Sage got out of control Stiles could reel her in so she went on her way.
"I used to have the worst crush in the world on you. Yeah, you, Stiles. And you never once even noticed me. Exactly how you're not noticing me right now." Erica huffed noticing Stiles's gaze was behind her rather than on her. Stiles looked wide-eyed at his soulmate as she yanked Erica by her hair successfully pulling her off of him.
"Woah-"
"Maybe he doesn't want the smell of bitch on him, next time you put your fake ass claws on him I'm gonna use them to rip out your spleen." Sage seethed at the blonde werewolf who tried to hide the fear in her eyes as a small smirk pulled its way on her lips.
"Sage-"
"You think your so tough don't you?" Erica said ignoring Stiles frantic call for his soulmate, his eyes widened as he felt his blood boil but the human knew it wasn't his blood that was currently boiling, he watched as Sage's fangs peeked out of her mouth so he quickly put himself between the two blondes.
"Okay babe yeah, put the fangs away while were on camera okay? There will be no ripping out spleens of any sort so let's ease back on the throttle." Between all the heat Stiles didn't even realise what he had called Sage but she heard it loud on clear and so did Erica.
Sage's heart warmed by the sound of that name rolling off his tongue, her face softened but her glare was still very much on Erica but she did ease up on the girl. Before any more threats could make their way out of anyone's mouth, Stiles noticed a little puddle of water leaking from the boy's locker room.
"Uh, guys." He said making Sage and Erica look away from each other and follow his train of sight. Scott and Jackson suddenly came barrelling out of the locker room, Allison not far behind them.
"Lucky you, I guess I have to postpone the disembowelment," Sage said sending a sarcastic smile to the blonde werewolf before she went and pulled Scott off of Jackson.
"What the hell's going on?" Mr Harris asks as he walked over to the group, looking around and everyone. "I think you dropped this," Matt says as he holds out Allison's tablet which Harris instantly took.
He points at Scott and Jackson, "You and you." The man paused before a stupid smirk appeared on his face as he looked at the rest of the group, "Actually. All of you. Detention, three o'clock." Everyone looked defeated as the man walked away but Sage just stared at the man's retreating figure in disgust.
"Yeah, I'm not going to no stupid detention."

Who knew where the quote Sage said to Erica came from ;) x
