Chapter 23

02:22, 28 June 2021

The ride to Scott's was quicker than usual, probably because Stiles Stilinski broke every traffic law known to man getting them there. As they got out of the jeep a feeling dawned on the vampire as she looked over the house, Jackson had led Lydia upstairs so they could talk and Allison just stood by the front waiting for the other two, however, Stiles looked over at the blonde as she hadn't moved from the jeep.

"What?" He gave her a confused look when he noticed she was still standing outside. "Is something wrong?"

"I can't come inside," Sage mumbled as she continued to look at the house, Stiles still looked at the girl in confusion not fully understanding what she was talking about.

"I have never been invited into Scott's house before, and what's rule number two of being a vampire?"

Both Stiles and Allison sighed out when they realised why Sage couldn't come in, "You have to be invited in."

"Yup, so I guess I'll just set up camp seeing as Melissa's not here to invite me in."

Stiles quickly whipped out his phone readying to call Scott, "It can't be Scott, has to be human." Stiles blinked at the vampire but still quickly dialled a number on his phone.

"Hey, Melissa! Uh- yeah I-I was just calling to ask if um Sage could come inside your house?" He glanced over at the blonde who was mouthing for him to put the phone on speaker.

On the other side of the phone, Melissa made a weird face before sighing, "I- yeah it's alright. She can come in, but why are you asking though?"

A look of worry etched on Stiles' face but Sage quickly took the phone from him, "Hi Melissa, I grew up in France and we're all very posh and respectful and I don't really like coming to someone's house unless they've told me I can. It's just how I grew up- hope that's okay?"

"Oh, yes honey I totally get it, you're more than welcome to come over anytime."

"Thank you Melissa." Stiles quickly sighed out a breath as he watched his guardian enter the house with no problems.

"You've seriously never been to Scott's before?" Allison asked the blonde as she watched as Stiles began to bolt the door.

"There's never been a reason to, yeah we're- uh friends, but I've never needed to be here. When I first came to Stiles' house he invited me in no questions asked- same as you and Lydia. Well, to be fair your dad and Lydia's mum invited me in but same difference." The vampire admitted as she looked around the McCall's house, it was a simple house- much like Stiles'.

"Can I ask you something?" Sage looked over at the Stilinski boy sensing the nerves piling off him, she was a little nervous herself wondering what he wanted to ask her, there was no way Stiles was gonna ask her about their bond.

"You've never told us about how you-uh turned." A sudden emotion flashed through the blonde vampire's eyes but before Stiles could comment on it the emotion quickly vanished as fast as it came.

Sage sighed as she watched the human's, she knew that this conversation was going to come up sooner or later.

"I guess I should start out by saying that my name isn't Sage Guerrière."

"What do you mean?" The huntress asked curiously.

"Have you ever heard of the name Alariè?" While Stiles shook his head but the brunette huntress looked at the blonde in shock.

"An Alariè man disrespected a prestigious family back in the 1250s, it was said that they were cursed after one of the Alariè men were hung for his crimes but they didn't think it was enough so they cursed the family and generations of the family to come." The Argent female said remembering what she read when she was reading up on the beast of Gevaudan.

Stiles' eyebrows were furrowed as he looked over his guardian, she had a faraway look on her face but he still didn't understand, "What does this have to do with you?"

Both Stiles and Allison suddenly understood.

"Your real name is Sage Alariè."

But before Sage could say anything her head snapped towards the front door, "They're here."

The two humans stiffened. "I'm calling Scott," Allison muttered, quickly dialling her boyfriend's number. The blonde vampire shook her head a little disappointed in her friend, Allison couldn't always rely on her werewolf boyfriend, especially since she's a hunter.

"I hope they're not dumb enough to try and break in here, Derek may have to bury three headless betas if they do," Sage commented as she watched the four werewolves outside.

"You're not killing anyone." Stiles gave her a look. "Killing is a big no-no." He emphasized.

"They're here to kill Lydia, Stiles." She reminded him.

"I know that but if they somehow do manage to get inside you have to promise you're not going to kill them. They're only acting on Derek's orders." Stiles told her gently.

"If they even get within an inch of this house-"

"If they do, you can stop them without killing them, promise me you won't kill anyone," Stiles asked his guardian softly.

"I'm not making that promise." The blonde muttered stubbornly earning a soft chuckle from her soulmate, Sage knew she would promise the boy anything but right now she was just being stubborn.

"Come on," Sage scoffed softly as she watched the human hold up his pinky finger, he sent the girl a firm look silently telling the vampire that he was serious. Sage let out a heavy sigh before looping her pinky with his.

Stiles felt something inside him warm intensely as he stared into the vampires once blue eyes, they had turned her vampire purple as soon as her pinky wrapped with his, without even saying anything they both knew what this meant.

It was like the night of the formal, that night was like the first step to what was in store for them.

Now their fate was sealed, all from one little promise.

They had broken away from each other when Allison came back into the room letting them know that Scott was on his way. A couple of minutes had passed and the buzz-cut human peeked out through the curtain to see Derek's pack standing in the middle of the street. He then glanced down at the crossbow that Allison was carrying around and thought it was better than leaving them headless. "I got an idea. Just shoot one of 'em."

"So she gets to shoot people but I can't rip off any heads?" Stiles ignored the vampire's pout as he continued gesturing towards Allison's bow.

Allison gave him a look of disbelief. "Are you serious?"

Sage only blinked in surprise, while the boy nodded. "We told Scott we could protect ourselves, so let's do it. Or at least give it a shot, right?"

"Okay." The huntress replied quietly.

"Look, they don't think we're gonna fight, so if one of them gets hit, I guarantee they'll take off. So just shoot one of 'em." He said.

"Which one?" Sage thought about it and she really wanted to see an arrow in Erica's neck, she smiled to herself from the thought of it.

"Uh -" He peeked through the curtain and his gaze landed on Derek, "Derek. Yeah, shoot him, preferably in the head."

"I thought you said no killing?" Sage muttered with squinted eyes.

"If Scott was able to catch an arrow, Derek definitely can." Allison reminded him.

Stiles looked at Sage and gave her an apologetic look, maybe if he was a heartless guy then he would let her kill them, but Stiles wasn't that person. "Okay, uh, just shoot one of the other three then."

"Two," Sage said as she watched the other two betas.

"No, three." He looked out and saw that she was right. "Where the hell is Isaac?"

The smell of dog instantly wafted the vampire's nose causing her to turn around only to see Isaac shoving Allison to the ground, her eyes quickly flashed purple when she saw that Isaac was gonna go after Stiles. She immediately punched the werewolf in the face and broke his nose causing him to fall and break the table.

"Go make sure that Lydia doesn't come down." She said, glancing over at Allison who was already standing. The young huntress nodded and immediately rushed up the stairs. "Stiles go with her, I need you to be safe."

"W-what, no! I'm not leaving you alone." The human exclaimed, his eyes quickly widened when he noticed the blonde-haired beta stand up behind his guardian. "Sage, lookout!" Stiles cried out, seeing Isaac standing up and growling at the blonde.

She quickly ducked away from the claws that were being swiped at her, she quickly caught his arm and twisted it almost breaking it clean off. Isaac screamed in pain but as soon as his arm began to heal he used the other one to swipe at her, but the vampire quickly grabbed it while grabbing the back of his head slamming it into the wall behind him successfully knocked him unconscious.

Sage suddenly felt a rush of fear enter the bond, she had realised while she was fighting she hadn't checked in on Lydia. She looked over at Stiles and saw that he was fine before she quickly rushed upstairs. She could sense the fear coming behind a locked bathroom door, she hadn't even realised Jackson was nowhere to be seen but she broke off the door handle seeing a distraught Lydia curled up on the bathroom floor.

"Lyds..."

The strawberry blonde let out a whimper when she felt a hand brush her hair away from her face, Sage heart clenched when she noticed the tear-stained cheeks of Lydia Martin.

"Sage..."

"I need you to stay here okay, until I tell you otherwise stay here Lydia okay?" The strawberry blonde whimpered but nodded at the blonde vampire anyway.

As soon as Sage closed the bathroom door she felt the familiar feeling of anxiety rush through her bond, her eyes glowed purple from the thought of Stiles in trouble.

Stiles backed up slowly as he saw Erica with her glowing yellow eyes, the beta growled at him, the boy closed his eyes waiting for the pain that was to come to him but he suddenly heard a cry of pain. His eyes opened only to see Erica whimpering on the ground, her arm bent in a weird position. "Did you break her arm!?"

"And her spine." Stiles blinked in surprise at the girl.

"What, you said I couldn't kill anyone." The human boy sighed just as Allison came rushing downstairs with her bow in her hand, the huntress looked wide-eyed at the two fallen betas but before she could make a comment on it, Scott came barrelling through the house.

"Is everyone okay?"

"The kanima, it's here," Allison said with a slightly scared look on her face, Sage narrowed her eyes trying to listen out for anything but before she could do anything Scott had tossed Derek's two betas outside.

Derek frowned down at his betas before looking over at Scott.

"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott. You're not an omega, you're already an Alpha of your own pack." The alpha said causing the vampire to frown, she didn't quite know how she felt about being referred to being in Scott's pack. She didn't even know if she and the McCall werewolf were friends, her and Allison were friends, she was Lydia's guardian and Stiles. Well, Stiles was her soulmate.

"But you know you can't beat me." The alpha continued.

"I can hold you off until the cops get here," Scott informed the brooding werewolf. Hearing the sirens, Derek looked over at Boyd and ordered him to get the two unconscious betas of there.

The sudden sound of hissing, caused them all to stiffen, everyone turned and looked upon the roof only to see the kanima crawling away into the night. The sudden sound of heels clicking against the wooden floor got everyone's attention, everyone apart from Sage watched in shock as Lydia stepped out of the house. "Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?" She demanded. Derek stared at the girl in shock, he was so close to killing an innocent girl when she was in fact- innocent.

And then instantly, it clicked in all their minds as they quickly realized just who the Kanima was.

"It's Jackson."
