Special Chapter - The First Year

Present Day

Everything was absolutely perfect. YN gazed out the window with a soft smile on her face, hearing the door open behind her, she looked up at the person who had entered.

"How has it already been an entire year, Momma?" She whispered.

"Time flies when you're happy my sweet girl," Lillie said with tears in her eyes. Taking in the scene before her of her daughter all dressed in white. There was a moment in time when she didn't think that they would ever get to this moment. She always prayed that she would see her girl finally happy and be able to settle down with the love of her life, and today is that day. However, she saw the nervousness on her daughter's face. Knowing she was getting overwhelmed she said "Catch me up on what's been going on this past year. It's been a while since we've all been in one place."

YN looked up at her mom "It's been magical, so much has happened and every moment has been beautiful."

A Year Ago

The day Kang Dae was born was a whirlwind that YN didn't really remember, other than the feeling of happiness. She looked down at the little bundle in her arms and again at the seven men scattered throughout the room. She couldn't have been happier with the drastic turn her life had taken.

The doctor came in a short while later and discharged YN and Kang Dae. It was time to take her little family home. Luckily Jin remembered the car seat in the mad scramble to get to the hospital, so the boys loaded mom and baby up and made their way home. YN fell asleep nestled against Jungkook and Jimin watched protectively over his nephew as Yoongi drove home slowly to be extra cautious with their precious cargo.

"I can't believe he's sleeping so well," Jimin whispered to the other guys in the car.

"I know, hopefully, that's a good sign that he'll sleep well at night. YN is exhausted so tonight will certainly be the hardest for her to get up. I don't want her to overdo" JK whispered back.

"She'll be fine JK, you guys have all of us. She should be your main focus, we can help with our little Dae." Yoongi reassured the younger man.

They got home and everyone settled in, Jin cooked dinner and JK escorted YN up to their room so she could get some more rest. Kang Dae had been sleeping and was still with Jimin and Yoongi so he was able to get the love of his life truly comfortable before getting his son. He came downstairs and held out his arms for Jimin to place the sleeping boy in his arms. Overwhelmed with feelings of love and gratitude the tears finally began to fall.

He placed his lips on his son's soft head and whispered "I love you, my little man."

Once night fell, however, his once quiet son began to wail nonstop. The first time Kang Dae woke up, YN dragged herself out of bed. She walked over to the crib and picked up the crying boy. Bringing him to her chest as she began to sway back and forth soothingly.

"Aw, you're hungry aren't you sweetheart." She whispers, looking over at her fiancé, she shook her head at his ability to sleep through anything. Wandering over to the recliner that they had in the corner of the room, she sat down and quietly fed Dae. She was in the middle of feeding the baby when she heard her door open softly. Looking up she saw Jimin walking towards her, his sweatpants hanging low on his hips, hair messy, and one eye barely cracked open.

"He's awake, is he just hungry sweetheart?" he asked her.

"I think so," she chuckled quietly "He is his father's son, that man is always hungry."

Jimin smiles down at her as she continues to feed the boy. He watches as she closes her eyes and knows just how exhausted she was. It's why he had gotten up, he was worried about her and JK since the day was stressful and now they had a new life to worry about. He wanted to be supportive in any way he could for his brother and sister.

"It looks like he's done," YN whispers as she fixes her nightclothes and stands, holding Dae to her shoulder as she gently pats him on the back. She walks back over to the crib and lays her sleeping son down before turning back to Jimin.

"Thanks for checking on us Jimin, I love you." She says as she gives him a kiss on the cheek and goes to lay back down. He looks over at the three sleeping figures and can't help but feel elated at knowing that his family is safe.

The second time Dae woke up was only about thirty minutes later, YN once again woke up and went to the crying baby, picking him up and trying to soothe him. This time though, JK woke up as well. Running his hands through his hair he stood up from the bed and approached the pair rocking back and forth across the room. He placed a kiss on YN's head and then one on Dae's before wrinkling his nose at the smell.

"Whew, kid you stink." He laughed as he took his son from YN's arms, "Go back to bed Princess, I got this." He whispered and nudged his fiancé back towards their bed. After he finished changing his son, he laid him back down.

Not even an hour later once again Dae woke up. YN got up first and went to stand, just then over the wailing of the baby they heard a sharp bark which startled YN and jolted JK out of sleep. Lola was standing in front of YN with her head on her legs and blocking her ability to stand. Alerting her to her high heart rate. JK didn't know who to go to first, he looked at his fiancé who simply pointed to the crib. Gesturing him to get the baby first when the door swung open.

Jimin and Yoongi both rushed into the room with panicked looks on their faces. Before JK could even get out of bed Jimin rushed over and picked up Dae and Yoongi had crouched down in front of YN.

"Hey, I heard her bark, are you ok Kitten?" Yoongi asked, concern written on his still sleepy face.

"Yes Yoongi, I was just going to stand up to get Dae but Lola alerted." She said, "It's ok, I'm sure it's to be expected after labor, my body went through something pretty stressful." Laughing she brushed off the nervous feeling.

Just then she felt JK's arms go around her and she instantly felt better. "Hey, you go back to sleep. I'll take care of Dae. We will go downstairs since he's been waking up so much and I really need you to rest." He told her as he stood up. He motioned to Jimin and Yoongi to head out of the room with him and gave YN a kiss before walking out to join them.

The rest of the night was spent with the three men taking turns rocking the newborn and singing to him softly. Once morning came the light brought their visitors. Without even knocking, Lillie walked into the house quietly with her husband. They had been to the house shortly after the kids moved in for a short vacation and to help everyone get settled so she knew where she was going. Walking into the living room though she beheld a sight that truly warmed her heart. Her future son-in-law was holding her grandson on his chest with his head resting against the back of the couch, both resting peacefully. Her eyes then landed on the two other boys who were just like her own sons, Jimin had his head resting on Jungkook's shoulder and Yoongi was sprawled on the floor in front of them. Leaving the scene quietly she walked up to take care of her daughter.

Over the next month, it became a routine. YN's parents stayed with them helping the young couple with Kang Dae and teaching the rest of the boys what it meant to have a baby in the house. YN's dad and Jungkook took over baby-proofing the entire house and Jimin learned more about child development from YN's mom. Everyone was supportive and played a different role in Dae's life. Since he was so small it really just meant that each man would take turns playing with him, changing him, and napping with him.

The real stress came once it was time for YN's parents to go home. Everyone was sad but YN was taking it the hardest. She had just waved her parents off at the airport and immediately broke down into tears. JK was silent as he drove them back to the estate where Kang Dae had stayed with Jimin. He knew this adjustment was hard and having a new baby made it more difficult. So instead of words, he placed his hand on her thigh and let her cry.

Once they got home YN didn't even look at anyone as she called Lola to her and they made their way up to the bedroom. Jungkook sighed picked his son up from his playpen where he was laying quietly and went up to join YN. Jimin looked at him questioningly but he simply shook his head and went upstairs.

YN was laying on the bed crying silently as Lola cuddled into her side. Lola looked up as she watched JK approach and nuzzled him as he sat down with Dae in his arms. They sat quietly for what seemed like hours, but Yoongi always told JK that when YN was in distress, it was best to just be the presence she needed and when she was ready she would talk.

His advice paid off as she lifted her head to see him sitting beside her with their son in his arms. He smiled down at her and brushed the hair from her cheek. "I love you, Princess, I know it's hard to say goodbye but remembers it's not forever. You have me and the guys so you are never alone. Kang Dae and I will always be here for you."

She nodded as she snuggled into JK's side. He placed his son between them and ran his fingers through YN's hair.

YN let out a soft sigh "You're my everything Jungkook."

"You're my world YN, always."

The next couple of months were a blur as JK and YN had finally settled on a wedding date. They wanted to have it in six months, nothing big or fancy just something small with friends and family. However, that was not going over well with Jin. He was so excited about the event and had so many ideas that YN finally gave up and told him to do what he wanted.

"Just tell me when and where at this point Jin and I'll be there." She sighed in defeat.

"Aw YN-ah you're going to love it. I've been secretly planning this since the day JK proposed!" He laughed as he threw his arms up in victory. "Now I just need to tell everyone the date!"

"Jin, what do you mean everyone?" YN eyed the man suspiciously.

"Nope, it's all going to be a surprise!" he exclaimed. "I also have an appointment for you next week to go look for wedding dresses! We had to reserve the whole shop so we would be able to look in peace."

YN groaned "Jin, please, I don't want it to be so over the top. And who is going to go with me? I don't want to look at dresses on my own." She whined.

"You're not going on your own, you'll have me, Jimin, and Yoongi." He replied

"All right, does JK know?"

"Of course, he has to watch Kang Dae for the day while also making sure our resident God of Destruction doesn't break anything." Jin huffs out as he remembers one particularly bad incident.

"Jin, Joonie didn't mean it, he forgot we babyproofed everything and it was at 2 in the morning. He didn't mean to break one of the cabinet doors off in your kitchen. It was an accident."

"Yeah and accident that woke the entire house up, including Dae. I thought for sure Yoongi was going to commit murder when the baby woke up." He laughed.

"I know, that man is protective when it comes to us sleeping." She giggled "Ok then we will go next week." She said and went to spin her little bundle of joy around. "Let's go find Daddy little Dae."

On and on the wedding preparations went. Jin thought of everything, the caterers, the cake, the venue, decorations, guests, everything. Hobi was there helping every step of the way being the ray of sunshine he is, he alleviated the stress whenever something wouldn't go exactly according to plan. YN picked out her wedding dress and the men with her were ecstatic over her choice. She also decided on having Jimin be her man of honor and Yoongi would also stand on her side. They were the closest to her and she wouldn't have it any other way. The rest of the guys except for Namjoon would stand up behind JK, Jin being his best man since he had practically raised him. Namjoon would actually be officiating the wedding which came as a surprise to everyone. When asked about when he had time to get his license to do so he simply ignored the question with a smile and changed the subject.

As the days flew by it was going to happen sooner or later, but Kang Dae got sick for the first time. He woke up early one morning and as YN went to pick him up she noticed his flushed cheeks and runny nose. She quickly took his temperature and saw that he had a fever.

"Poor little man, it's ok, mommy is here." She cooed at her son as she held him in her arms. She wasn't to worried since she knew everyone got sick, but she didn't realize the effect this was going to have on the rest of the guys.

She walked into the kitchen with Dae in her arms as she searched for the baby Tylenol they had on hand when she felt arms around her waist.

"Hey Princess," JK said as he placed a kiss on her neck. "What are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for the baby Tylenol JK, Dae has a fever and a runny nose."

"What!?" He yelled "He's sick?" he paused briefly as he turned around and yelled "Jimin get in here! Dae is sick!"

It was then like a stampede in the house and YN turned to see seven sets of eyes all in panic mode. Jin already had the phone to his ear and Jimin quickly walked over to YN.

"Aw little guy definitely has a fever," Jimin said.

"I got the baby Tylenol," Yoongi said.

"I'll get a cool washcloth" Tae yelled as he scurried out of the room.

"I got his favorite plushie" Hobi called.

"It says here to make sure he has lots of fluids. Pedialyte is recommended. Do we still have some YN?" Namjoon asked.

"Uh no, we are out. I needed to go buy more." She replied.

"I'm on it, I'll run to the store," Joon said as he grabbed the keys and left.

"The doctor is on their way!" Jin yelled out.

And then it happened, Dae looked at JK with wide eyes and reaching arms one second, and the next the young boy promptly vomited all over his father. Staring down at his shirt, JK held his arms up and away from himself in disgust. He looked up into the laughing eyes of his fiancé and shook his head, quickly lifting the shirt over his head they turned at the sound of someone else gagging. Looking at Tae, his face was absolutely green as he gagged once and turned to run to the bathroom. After that everyone dissolved into laughter, the panic replaced with giggles.

It was a short while later that the doctor came and told everyone it was just a little flu. She gave everyone instructions on what to do and left. The guys took their duties very seriously and took turns caring for the sick child. It was times like these that YN was thankful for them, it made her realize that it truly does take a village to raise a child.

Fast forward and it was four weeks before the wedding and YN and JK had their first real fight. YN had been home a lot for the past eleven months as she tried navigating being a new mother, learning Korean, and adapting to life as the girlfriend and soon-to-be wife of a K-pop idol. The guys had been gone a lot lately since they were getting ready to release a new song shortly after the wedding. That meant long hours in studios, trips to the BigHit building, interviews, etc. The past three weeks had been extremely difficult, YN and Kang Dae were mostly left alone at home as the boys were in their various studios. Each of them to busy to come in and play with Dae or do anything other than eating a quick dinner that she would cook and go back to doing what they were doing. It was getting more and more frustrating because as soon as JK would come in and come to bed he would pass out without so much as a goodnight.

She knew he was working really hard but it didn't make it easier since Dae was starting to teeth. She was surprised it was happening so late, he got a few teeth around 8 months and then it seemed like they paused, now they have returned with a vengeance. Sleeping for YN became a thing of the past since Dae would wail until she came to grab him. They would inevitably end up downstairs as she tried to soothe him and the pain in his mouth. Since JK was too tired, he never woke up with Dae and neither did any of the other men. She tried her best not to be hurt and angry that she wasn't getting any help but she couldn't help it when they had been helping her every step of the way until their music became more important.

One night it finally came to a head, YN wasn't feeling well at all. She had noticed that she was nauseous earlier in the day and felt like she had been run over by a bus. Her body ached and she was exhausted, when she heard Dae emit one of his whines she sighed. Knowing he still must be in pain but so was she, she nudged Jungkook trying to wake him up.

"JK, can you please get Dae?" she asked

JK simply groaned, put his pillow over his head, and went back to sleep.

"Please JK, can you get Dae?" She tries again to wake him up, shaking his shoulder and moving the pillow from his head.

"WHAT!?" He yelled "Jesus YN I'm just trying to sleep. You get him." He shakes off her arm and rolls over, closing his eyes to try and sleep again.

"JK..." YN starts, tears welling up in her eyes "I don't..."

"Don't what?" he exclaimed "Christ, I need to sleep! You don't do anything all day, just get him and go downstairs!"

"I do shit all day JK! I take care of our son and this house and make sure all of your needs are met! You on the other hand have been too absorbed in your music to remember you have a girlfriend and a son!" she yelled back as she heaved her tired body out of bed and walked out of the room towards the nursery, slamming the door on her way out.

Sniffing and wiping her tears, YN picked her crying son up and walked downstairs. Lola had followed her out of the room and was keeping pace with YN as she shuffled around the kitchen trying to find the frozen teething toy that was in the freezer. After a few moments of still not finding it, YN gave up and slid to the floor in defeat. Holding the crying child in her arms she felt the tears run down her face once more. She remembered reading that gum massages help as well, so she gently began to rub Dae's gums and they both cried.

Hobi had gotten up to go to the bathroom when he heard the yelling. Shaking his head he went to the bathroom and once he finished, he followed the sound of crying until he came to the kitchen. He sighed sadly when he saw the state of distress that YN was in on the floor with Dae with her fingers in his mouth trying to soothe him.

"Hey" he whispered to her "Why are you crying sunshine?"

He watched as she shook her head at him continuing to cry. So he sat down next to her and wrapped her in his arms.

When YN felt his arms around her it was like the dam on her emotions broke and it all came flooding out. "You guys have been so busy that no one is around anymore. Then the past three weeks Dae has been teething and hardly anything works. I've been doing my best to keep the house clean, cook for you guys so you all stay healthy, and take care of Dae with little to no sleep. As soon as I try and lay down to nap or sleep, Dae wakes me up needing something or someone is passing through the house for something. Then to make it worse, I don't feel good today. I'm nauseous and my body hurts. I'm just so tired, I tried getting JK to help but then he yelled at me and we fought. I'm trying to be supportive but Hobi I'm just so tired." She cried.

"Hey, hey, YN-ah. It's ok, I'm sorry you don't feel well and I'm sorry we have all been too busy to notice." He replied, running his hands up her arms soothingly. "Let me take care of Dae, you go back to sleep."

"I can't go back to sleep Hobi! He's made me so angry. How can he forget he has a family now, I know he's working hard, I know you all are, but Dae is his son. He should be helping when it gets this hard."

"It's ok, everyone is just tired and stressed. JK has been under a lot of pressure lately. He doesn't want anyone to think that just because he has a family now, he can't do his job. Music is also his passion, he dedicates himself to it, you know that. He would overwork himself even before you and Dae. Now that you guys are here, he's under even more. Give him time, it'll pass. In the meantime, I bet if you go lay down on the couch, you'll at least get some sleep. Dae and I will stay close."

Nodding her head she handed Dae over to Hobi and stood up on wobbly legs. The room spun and the next thing she knew, her world was black.

YN woke up to the morning light and a heavyweight across her body. Looking down at the pitch-black hair covering the head resting on her chest she sighed. The deep breath evidently was enough to startle the sleeping man awake and he looked up into her eyes.

"I'm sorry Princess," Jungkook said with a trembling lip. "I didn't mean any of it. I was just tired, I didn't know you weren't feeling well." He muttered against her chest as he pulled her body closer to him.

"I know you're working hard JK but Dae and I need you too. I've hardly seen you the past three weeks and I've been up all night with Dae."

"I know baby, there's really no excuse. I'm sorry, I'll do better. You're right, you guys are my first priority."

"Good, now where's my baby, Hobi was taking care of him last night."

"He's sleeping now, Hobi came to get me in a panic after you passed out. Lola didn't alert so obviously it wasn't your heart. Jin hyung called the doctor and she said it sounded like it was just from exhaustion. I didn't realize you were overworking yourself without any sleep."

"It's in the past now JK, let's just do better. We both need to do better." She replied as she played with his hair. Settling back against the couch, she let him continue to hold her and she once again fell asleep in contentment.

Present Day

"And that's about it. Other than that every day was filled with fun. The guys have taken their roles as uncles very seriously, especially Yoongi and Jimin, I don't know where JK and I would be without them. I honestly have six brothers that I can rely on."

"That's great my love, now look at the time! It's time to go meet your man!" She exclaimed and grabbed her daughter's bouquet and rushed her out the door. Waiting at the entrance was her father who smiled down at her and her two best friends.

"Alright Kitten, last chance to make a run for it, Jimin and I will take care of you and Dae, who needs JK." Yoongi teased as he pinched the bride's cheek.

"Hey! Don't ruin my make up you heathen!" YN exclaimed "Plus, I would never run away from that muscled giant I'm about to call my husband. I love him too much!" she laughed.

"I know, just making sure. I love you, Kitten, you look stunning."

"You definitely do sis," Jimin responds as he looks over her with tears in his eyes.

"Aww Jiminie, don't cry please, you'll make me cry!"

"Ok, ok, we need to go. It's our turn to walk. See you there sweetheart." Jimin replies as he and Yoongi walk through the entrance and down to their spots. Then the music began and it was YN's turn to walk with her father.

Looking at the scene in front of her she was overwhelmed with contentment. Standing there with wide, tear-filled eyes, was Jungkook as he watched her make her way towards him. Standing behind him were Jin, Hobi, and lastly Taehyung who was holding Kang Dae all dressed in his little suit. On the other side were Jimin and Yoongi who were also wiping their eyes. Namjoon was in the center looking on with a proud look on his face, being the amazing leader he is. It was a surreal moment, and one she would cherish forever because once she said "I do." She gained a different type of forever family. One not of blood but one that she would be bonded to forever. That's when she knew that happy ever after really does come true.
