"Listen up, everyone! We're taking on job requests again starting today! You'll have to excuse the mess while we're under construction, but at least you can get back to work!" Mira announced joyfully.
Everyone cheered and began to surround the request board excitedly.
"What's up with them? Usually all they do is loaf around the guild hall all day." I raised an eyebrow at the crowd.
Mira giggled in response and we continued to chat happily. The rare relaxed feel of the guild was nice after the war that had just occurred. It didn't last long, however.
"Why don't you tell the others how you feel?" Erza snarled. Everyone went silent at her commanding voice.
Gray, who was standing next to her, backed away cautiously.
"What's going on?" I turned to Cana with furrowed eyebrows. She simply shrugged her shoulders and looked back at Erza.
"I have no problem telling 'em what I think of 'em. Let's make things nice and clear, this guilds full of nothing but losers and weaklings! Especially you two morons." Laxus turned back to glance at Jet and Droy. They tensed as Laxus' glower fell on them.
"You were Phantom's personal punching bags!" Laxus chuckled amusedly. "You know, I'm glad I never bothered to learn your names."
"Which brings me to the worst of them all, the rich little princess wanna-be wizard!" He turned his pointed glare to me with a cocky grin. "It was your fault-"
"Laxus!" Mira interrupted with an uncharacteristically angry voice. "Would you shut up? It's over now; we're not playing the blame game. Master said no one in the guild was to be held accountable for what happened, not even you. Despite the fact I begged you to come help and you turned your back on us!"
"Oh, stop your whining." Laxus roared. "That fight was none of my business, it had nothing to do with me! But if I had been there you wouldn't be drowning your sorrows in this pile of rubble right now!"
"Why you-" Erza growled.
"I've heard enough outta you!" Natsu bellowed as he ran towards Laxus. Just as he swung his fist to hit Laxus, Laxus disappeared in a crackle on lightning. He reappeared a couple feet behind Natsu.
He's strong... I thought to myself with a gasp.
"C'mon Laxus, fight me you heartless coward!" Natsu glared at Laxus with a shaking fist.
"How do you expect to fight me when you can't even touch me you dimwit!" Laxus cackled. "Man, I can't wait to inherit this place and kick all you wimps to the curb. Your days in Fairy Tail are numbered, kids! Things are gonna be a whole lot different around here, so I guess you losers are gonna have to find a new place to hang out."
Just as his body began to dissipate into golden lightning once again, Gray called out to him.
"And what about (y/n)?" Gray demanded. He went still at the mention of his girlfriend.
"What about her?" He growled without turning to face us.
"Are you going to kick her out to? Do you even know where she is right now?" Gray laughed coolly. "Man, I can't believe you somehow managed to win someone as amazing as her, you obviously don't deserve her."
"I would shut up if I were you, weakling." Laxus snarled, looking over his shoulder at Gray. His face was contorted with annoyance.
"She's in the infirmary right now."
Laxus turned stiff at that.
"She saved all of our asses, twice. She took a blast from the Jupiter Cannon, and she fought Master Jose, one of the Ten Wizard Saints, until Makarov was all healed up and could take over. Yeah, you're right Laxus. Maybe if you were there, you could've prevented her from being as hurt as she is now." Gray continued to provoke Laxus in a cool voice.
And as quickly as he came, Laxus vanished in a bolt of lightning.
"Tch." Gray scoffed and went back to work, along with everyone else helping rebuild the guild.
"Do you think-?" I began to question Mira.
"He went to the infirmary. Though Laxus may seem unfeeling, deep down he's still Makarov's grandson and that heart of gold is there, just veiled. Laxus has lost his way, and I hope (y/n) is able to help him find it." Mira looked down at her palms solemnly.
LAXUS
"Who does that little shit think he is talking to me like that." I grumbled to myself as I walked up the hill to Fairy Hills, the girls dormitory. Since Fairy Tail was destroyed because of those stupid weaklings, the temporary infirmary was at Fairy Hills, since Porlyusica didn't like company too much.
I angrily flung the door open and entered the lobby. "Oh!" The receptionist jumped at the sudden thud.
I glanced over at her and when her eyes met mine, her cheeks flushed. It was Chico C. Hammit, a mage of Fairy Tail. She was just another weakling though, only having mastered one spell- Legend of City. It allowed her to control and create an army with the wandering souls of Magnolia, though if she stepped foot out of Magnolia for even a minute, she would loose all her souls and have to gather them again. Pretty useless magic if you ask me.
Her father, Ruchio, was the owner of Fairy Hills, so she was often there.
"L-Laxus, hello!" She stuttered, as her dark-complexioned cheeks were tinted red. I knew she had a "secret" crush on me. I found it silly a weakling like her thought she could have a chance with me.
"Where's (y/n)?" I deadpanned, taking an authoritative step forward.
"O-oh! She's uh, she's in the guest room resting up. I think she may be sleeping, would... would you like some coffee or tea or anything?" Chico looked down embarrassedly as she stumbled over her words. "W-We can just, um, chat and wait for her to-"
I began to get annoyed at her stuttering and interrupted. "I'll wait with her." I snapped.
As I walked away I heard Chico whimper. "O-Okay. Good talk... I guess."
I rolled my eyes and made my way to the guest room, quietly opening the door. I knew my way around Fairy Hills due to how many sleepovers (y/n) and I had when she lived here when we were children. Hilda, the previous owner, would always catch me and kick me out after scolding (y/n) though.
I entered the room to see (y/n) lying on the spotless bed, her (h/l) (h/c) hair sprawled across the snow-white pillow. It was weird seeing her like this, her (s/c) skin was unusually dull and her typically vivacious (e/c) eyes were closed.
I moved to sit next to her on the side of the bed. I gingerly placed my fingers on her forehead and pushed her hair off her smooth face. Her black eyelashes fluttered on her pale cheeks and her eyes slowly opened. She looked up at me through sleepy lidded eyes.
"You woke me up." She stated in a raspy voice.
"Sorry princess, I couldn't resist." I smirked down at her.
She laughed melodically and grabbed my bicep, pulling me to lay down on the bed with her. She nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck and I felt her breath on my collarbone as she spoke.
"You're an asshole, you know that, Laxus?"
"But I'm your asshole." I retorted. She giggled and I moved my lips to the crown of her head, kissing it softly.
"Hey, Laxus?" She asked after a minute of silence.
"Yeah?" I answered.
"Don't abandon us again, okay?" She looked up at me with big, vulnerable eyes.
I paused for a moment. "Yeah." I replied shortly, connecting our lips so I didn't have to look her in the eye.
I'm sorry, (y/n). I lied.
