Del x reader - city's breaking down

(This one takes in before gorillaz phase)

"Oh mah gawd Del, stop being a jerk!" You laughed out, trapped in the strong arms of your best friend

"Not until you admit it!" Your pal replied, still holding off the ground

You've been trying to free yourself for at least 10 minutes but apparently, the rapper really didn't want to let you go. Near by, one of your best fellas, Russel, was watching the childish fight in front of him, a slight smile on the face. Since your struggle started, he didn't even bother to help you, he just kept one watching while laughing a little. You tried once again to ask for help

"Please Russ, tell him to stop already!" You playfully pleaded

"Nuhu, you know Del, he won't stop until he gets what he wants..." he responded.

Attempt failed, once again.

You sighed in a exaggerated manner and gave up

"Alright alright! You are a better rapper than me!"

"Aaaaaand?" Del whispered in your ear

You sighed again.

"Aaand I'm a flying butt farting somewhere over the rainbow..." you muttered

"Exactly!" He claimed victoriously and put you on your feet.

You swiped around to face him and pounded your lips like a kid before menacing him with the most terrifying and threatening voice you could ever do

"I swear to the god of rap, one day I'll beat your ass Del!"

"Yeah right lil' girl!" He exclaimed before petting your head

You were about to reply something when Russel coughed to make you aware of his presence

"Hum...sorry to put a end to your flirting session but what do you think about a meal? I'm hungry."

"I wasn't-...!" You started before getting interrupted by Del

"Oh yeah! I got a real appetite!" He exclaimed

He then looked at you with this sparkle in his eyes, this childish and playful look you craved

"(Y/n), ya comin'?" He asked hopefully

You took a deep breath before responding

"Yeah, sure!"

"Deal settled then! Russel, you're the one paying, forgot my cash at home!" Del yelled before running towards Russel's car, which was covered with old yet colorful graffiti

"Man, you don't even have a dollar..." grunted the giant, apparently exasperated

"So you offer me the food? Thank you dude!" The funny rapper replied before jumping in the back seats

Russel sighed and just went to the driver seat. You were about to go to the front seat as usual when your tall pal put a bag on your assigned seat. You looked at him, surprised, but he just slowly shaked his head

"Nope lady, you go and sit in the back for today" Russel imposed as he turned to the road, ready to start driving

"What? You can't just forbid me to sit here!"

"My car, my rules. So now you go to sit or find a way to go to the restaurant on your own lad." He calmly responded, a mocking grin on the face

You know that, even if he could be resonated most of the time, when he had this grin, nothing could change his mind. Yup, destiny gave you two really stubborn friends.

You just rolled your eyes, closed the door and sat next to Del. It's only when you buckled yourself that you noticed how small was the back of the car. You couldn't even move without having a physical contact with Del, which made your heart race in no time. You were about to choose the "on my own" option but all of a sudden, Russ started driving and off you go. You quickly took a look in the mirror and you swear, you saw him grinning when he noticed the proximity between you two.

"Man That's what I call a hamburger! Thank you again for the free food!"

"Can you tell me when you passed from "I'll pay you back" to "yup it's free" ?" Sarcastically asked Russ to Del

"When you decided to be my friend, pal" mocked the sweet rap musician

The giant just rolled his eyes in defeat, making you laugh a little. He then started leaving, muttering something about stuff to do, leaving you alone with Del....

Your pov

Being alone with a friend is something. Being alone with Del is something else. Even if you forced yourself to consider him as your best friend for a long time, you couldn't exactly stop your feelings...you had a crush on him since you met him, and you couldn't help yourself.

Every time you were about to definitely move on, you would notice something about him that would make you melt. First time it was that look in his eyes, this sparkling and lively gaze. Second time, it was the way he laugh around you, a "happier and more honest" kind of laugh as Russel said. The third time, it was the way he would hug you, a tender yet strong manner. And the list goes on...

"Yo (Y/n), you still there?" Del sang as he moved his hand in front of your face. You suddenly got out of your day dreaming and muttered an awkward apology...

Your friend looked at you, with a weird look on his face. It was kinda weird, on usual he would have probably laughed at you for your clumsy attitude or something like that but this time, he was oddly quiet... You realized he must have been talking about something important but you weren't listening, which, strangely, annoys people.

"Uuuuh yeah so...what were you saying?" You said, trying to keep up the discussion. He seemed to want to say something during a second but closed his mouth...

"Well I...I was just saying...what if...." he mumbled the end of the sentence... you looked at him with big curious eyes, completely confused... he seemed to space out for a moment, blushing slightly and a second after,  he was back with his enjoyed attitude, smiling brightly again.

"What if we sit on this bench! The view is amazing!" He exclaimed happily

"Del, we are literally in the middle of a street. The only view we have is depressed people and cars." You replied

"Weeeeeeell better than nothing! C'mon mate!" He answered back while pulling you to the bench

You both sat there, next to each other. You thought that if you had to wait for Russel, it would be better to wait on a comfortable spot and, bonus, with Del.

You two begun to spoke during a few minutes. The quickly the few minutes became 40. And then they turned into an hour. And this hour transformed into a few hours. Your pal still wasn't coming back but you didn't say anything. You actually liked...no....lived spending this time with Del. Talking about little nothing, joking about different subjects, whatever you were discussing about, it was always so pleasant and sweet, and you always could feel your heart beating with joy and you couldn't stop smiling with him near by...

But when the sun faded away, you witnessed the street shining in all its resplendissant. The people soon disappeared, already returning back home and leaving you some privacy. You were so absorbed in the contemplation of such a mutation that you didn't even noticed how fresh the air was becoming. But you did notice the new layer of cloth that was added on you shoulders. Surprised, you looked at it and realized it was Del's old jacket. You started at him with an interrogating glare. He just coughed, to hide his embarrassment

"You were shivering..." he explained innocently

You sweetly smiled at him and thanked him. Your oh so comfortable discussion certainly disappeared but you even preferred the sweet silence covering you...

Like a natural movement, you slid your hand into Del's one and let your head rest on his shoulder... but his surprised jump made you realize your current position. You tensed up, affrayed to have make him uncomfortable but soon relaxed when you saw in the corner of your eye his pleased smile and blushing face. You felt your heart pounding in your chest and your cheeks burning, a sudden adrenaline rushing through your body. You just could not stop your mind. But when he called your name, all of this uncomfortable and annoying stress disappeared like if it never existed...

"(Y/n)...."

He stopped.

Everything around two seemed to have faded away.

The strong yet slow beating of your heart resonating in your head.

He took a deep inspiration.

You kept on thinking he wasn't about to say it....

"I think I love you...."

But he just did

You felt your entire being felt up with excitement, you couldn't even believe your ears. But the best part was when you felt his lips on yours. Without hesitation, you melt into the kiss. You sensed his soft skin against yours, the tender embrace full of love filling you.

Too soon, you parted away for air, looking into each other eyes deeply and then turned back at the view...

Maybe this so called view wasn't too bad after all...
