Chapter 33

09:59, 2 November 2020

Yubin POV

"Eunbi! Can you zip up this dress for me?" I asked, waddling over to her.

She glanced at me letting out a sly whistle.

"Okay unnie, I see you. Looking as hot as a fire," she grinned.

I coughed awkwardly, wiggling my shoulders so she could zip it up.

"Seriously unnie. You're gonna look the times better than everyone there combined," she complimented.

I was wearing a black off the shoulder dress that hugged every ounce of my body making my baby bump highly obvious.

I was grateful that it still fit me and that I didn't look like a piece of trash in it.

Once Eunbi had zipped the back of the dress up, I picked up the massive earrings on the counter and put them on.

My hair had been done in a messy updo making my entire outfit look extremely formal and court-like.

I needed to make an impression on a bunch of rich people, so the more the better.

"Are you seriously gonna wear heels?" Eunbi questioned.

I sighed, "Unfortunately. I have to host the event since I was in charge of planning it so looking the best I can will give me a better standing with everyone there. That being said, the same way I was willing to throw up on Seokjin when he was a jerk, I'd be willing to throw my heels at someone who judges me and walk barefoot."

She laughed, "That's my sister. But be careful okay. You're literally two weeks out from your due date and you've been way too stressed for the past three days."

She wasn't wrong. My stress levels were at a maximum and no matter what remedies I tried, nothing would calm me down. I could tell Suyeon hated it because she constantly squirmed around making me want to vomit every ten seconds. But I had to manage it for the night.

Once it was all over and I talked to Seokjin and sorted everything else, there would be no more stress.

A honk came from outside.

"Oh I think Luna is here! Okay, bye Eunbi!" I waved.

"When your party is over, I expect you to come back only to pick up your stuff so you can go home to your man!" She called.

I nodded while chuckling slightly before heading out to Luna's car.

"Hey Lulu!" I chirped while putting my seatbelt on.

Luna wrapped me in a big hug rambling about how much she had missed seeing me during all these months that I was away on maternity leave.

After we quickly caught up, we drove off towards the hotel as we needed to be there before the guests since we were staff.

We pulled up to the valet and showed the staff our employee badges so they could let us in.

I had to quickly stop by my desk because I needed to grab the tablet that I was using to keep track of all the guest information as well as for managing the catering and music.

The second I had my hands on the tablet I dove straight into my work mode aggressively tapping the screen at a hasty rate to make sure everything was set up.

The hall that I had ordered several renovations on was genuinely looking great with all the necessary tables and seats positioned accordingly.

The catering team was already setting themselves up and the live orchestra were tuning their instruments.

My heels clacked against the floor as I walked up to the main stage where a podium for the addresses would happen.

I was still diligently tapping my tablet while the rest of the staff was setting up.

Honestly, diving into my work was helping me forget about the oncoming anxiety of seeing Seokjin again, but I wasn't going to deny that I was feeling extremely ill because of how stressed I was.

I placed a hand on my baby bump, "Hey baby. I know you're uncomfortable, but endure it for one more night. Then I'll make sure to not do anything so you're totally ready to pop out."

Time flew by and before I knew it, someone had notified me that the guests had arrived.

I held the mic while watching CEOs of all different companies and brands filed into the hall.

All of them wore expensive suits and dresses and had the most business-like presence I had ever seen. It reminded me that even though I had befriend the gems that to virtually everyone else, they were the most intimidating people ever.

Though it was hard to comprehend since five out of the seven of them passionately teased their 'noona' so childishly.

"Welcome everyone! Please take your seats while we wait for our gems to show up!" I announced, making sure my voice was level.

I noticed a family meandering in with a very seriously and crestfallen expression about them. I recognized them.

Seokjin's extended family.

Anger boiled up inside of me thinking of their reputation and how they'd painfully pester him the whole night.

I was regretting not telling someone to put thumb tacks on their seats, but that was besides the point.

Anticipatory chatter filled the hall while we all subconsciously kept an eye out for the seven stars of the show.

Finally the door opened and a massive huddle of security staff entered first.

And then there they were.

(Merry Christmas 😌)

The aura that surrounded them was enough to make anyone shiver.

There was so much power as they walked, enough to intimidate the entire room.

They kept straight faces, but I could feel the pride and major ego they were carrying at the sight of people giving them so much respect.

The sass and power behind each step was enough to silence the entire hall as they calmly walked to their special table.

The staff quickly scrambled to pull out the seats for them to which they all coldly sat down without another word.

Always had to maintain their personality.

I bit back an amused chuckle, watching as their very cocky arrogance scared the crap out of everyone else in the room.

And then there was him.

He looked so ethereal. They all did, but he was a whole other story. The feeling surrounding him was the same as when I first met him. So intimidating and powerful as if with one stare he could ruin your whole life.

Our eyes briefly met and I could see his expression visibly soften. I felt my breath hitch as he observed me, feeling trapped in his gaze once again.

So damn perfect.

I snapped myself out of my thoughts and began to speak, "Would everyone in the hall join me in bowing out of respect for the gems who have constantly showed their tactical genius in the field of business and proven their immense success through the fruits of their labor?"

Everyone scrambled out of their seats and joined me as we deeply bowed out of respect for the boys.

I noticed them sending me sly smiles which encouraged me slightly. They were always considerate and supportive of me which I guess made me the luckiest person ever.

"Splendid! Welcome everyone to the third annual Correspondence Convention hosted by none other than the seven gems themselves!"

I waited for the roaring applause to settle down before I continued.

"This year, it was graciously hosted by CEO Kim Taehyung at his main hotel of his impressive branch. My name is Kwon Yubin and I am the head general manager who was in charge of getting this entire event organized. Tonight, we will hear from many of you who are pitching your ideas to each other for potential partnerships and deals. We'll also hear from some of the staff of the gems who work on statistics for the economy of our country and their individual companies and how as unrelated businesses you can all maximize your profits. And finally, the gems themselves will be talking a bit on their own experiences, offering wise advice for how to grow your businesses to succeed like theirs did. Much of the staff is around if you need anything so please reach out if you need to and there's catering in the back for when you decide to eat. Thank you and enjoy your time."

I stepped off the stage as they respectfully applauded, quickly walking to the back of the room with my tablet.

For now, the CEOs had the right to go around and mingle with each other while drinking their expensive champagne.

I was closely watching the gems because once Taehyung was on the move, I had to be too considering that I was the closest in position to him.

Suyeon was getting pretty active in my stomach, kicking quite a bit which was actually causing me some discomfort but I tried to ignore it.

I was feeling exhausted already but I had to get through this party.

Everything was in full swing and the only other sound besides the constant and mundane chatter about business and deals was the even more boring sounding music.

I hated these fancy parties with a passion, but it was unfortunately all part of the job.

I was kind of lost in my tablet and work so I gasped when I felt someone gently nudge me.

I looked up to see Hoseok, Namjoon, and Yoongi looking at me curiously.

"You sure are one busy woman," Yoongi remarked.

I couldn't help but scoff, "You don't say...I wonder why that is?"

They chuckled.

"How's the little princess doing?" Hoseok asked.

I sighed, "She's a bit active today. I don't think she likes when mommy is stressed."

Namjoon frowned, "You shouldn't stress yourself out too much. You shouldn't have even have to be here."

"I wanted to. This is my job and I want to do it well. Don't worry. I'll be fine. Now I think you guys should go mingle because there are some CEOs giving me very dirty looks," I chuckled.

They sighed, nodding before giving me one last long look and heading off.

The peace was short-lived when the next duo of goofy CEOs came up to me.

"Noona~"

My eyes widened.

"Jimin! Are you crazy?!" I whisper-yelled.

He grinned, "It's fun being mischievous with you. You get very riled up."

I rolled my eyes, "Jungkook, turns out your my favorite."

He grinned, "Sorry noona, that's reserved for Seokjin hyung."

I sighed, "There's another thing to stress about."

The two of them looked at me worriedly, hesitantly and discreetly rubbing my back.

"Are you okay? You're looking a bit sick," Jungkook asked worriedly.

"I'm just stressed. I'll be fine once this is all over and I get a moment to talk to him," I said.

"Well he misses you like hell. Never thought I'd see him genuinely cry so much before," Jimin commented.

That hurt my heart. He was really crying over me? Maybe I had overdone it. Was I the childish one?

"No stop it Yubin. It's not your fault. Arguments happen. Stop stressing over everything. The party is going great," Jimin quickly added.

"Yeah. I've never been to a more organized party and I'm saying that knowing that I had my staff host it once. This is incredible," Jungkook said.

I smiled softly, "Thanks guys. I'll be okay. I just need to last for a few more hours then I'll be all good."

They stayed with me for a little bit longer before wandering off.

After that a few of the other CEOs came to compliment me on the success of the event until Taehyung finally came over.

"How's my favorite employee doing?" He asked.

I offered him a tired smile, "Managing. Did you make any connections?"

He grinned, "You know it. By the way, I just wanted to thank you for throwing such a spectacular party. I haven't seen this kind of organization at any event ever."

"You're just saying that."

"No I mean it. I truly value the work you do at the company. I'm sure I don't express it much but you are a very valued member of the team. I'd literally fight anyone for you. That's why I got worried when you and hyung got so close. I was scared you'd go work for him."

I chuckled at his cuteness, "Trust me, that'd never happen. Living with him under one roof is one thing, but working for him when he's the boss, yeah not gonna happen. But uh...speaking of him, where is he?"

He sighed, "Probably getting swarmed by his delusional family."

I looked behind Taehyung to see said family stalking towards us.

"More like we're about to get swarmed by them," I said.

His eyes widened, "They are?! Crap, come with me. I'll make sure they don't talk to you."

"What why?"

"They always belittle the hosts. Nothing is perfect in their eyes and they'll find a way to make you despise yourself. Jungkook, Yoongi, and Hoseok's managers that were in charge ended up quitting because of them," he said.

I smiled, "Well, if there's one thing you should know about me CEO Kim, I'm a very bratty pregnant lady."

Taehyung desperately tried to convince me, but I pushed him away to go make his rounds.

I had some things I wanted to say to them anyway.

"Excuse me," a elderly voice chirped.

I turned to face to wretched family, a very fake smile plastered on my face.

I decided to stay polite for the time being. So I bowed to them.

"Yes. How can I help you?" I asked bitterly.

A younger woman scowled at me, "Are you the one that threw this crap together? God, I've seen rats throw better parties."

I laughed, "I'm sure you'd know that very well."

I smirked as her upper lip twitched while the rest of her family stared in shock.

An older man spoke sharply, "Excuse you! Who do you think you are?! Do you know who you're talking to?!"

"I actually do. Selfish people that exploit a child's grief for money. Let me know if I'm getting warmer. You're all the epitome of irritating and I know for a fact no one likes you guys or your business," I retorted.

"Why I ought to-"

I was ready to block the incoming slap, but someone was already one step ahead of me.

"Big mistake."

Seokjin.

I couldn't see his face, but I didn't have to because I had a vivid mental picture of his rage.

"Seokjin! Where were you? We've been looking for you all night!" The old lady quickly changed her tone.

I scoffed behind Seokjin, "Tch, what a fake."

Her face hardened into a glare before looking all sweet for Seokjin.

"Where was I? Good question. Doing everything to avoid you people," Seokjin answered coldly.

"We're you're family. We just wanted to say hello," the girl spoke.

Seokjin bitterly laughed, "Yeah I'm sure. It'd also be followed up with a, 'as your family we should join companies.' Yeah, not gonna happen."

"Don't be so foolish Seokjin," the old man who almost slapped me spat.

I whirled on them all, my mama anger kicking into high gear.

"You're calling him foolish?! You're the ones that come every time like idiots thinking he'd ever waste his time with such a pathetic family!" I hissed, making sure to not draw as much attention as possible.

"You know what-" the girl huffed, getting ready to fight me.

Oh how I was gonna have fun with this.

But before I could prepare a smack, I felt a hand snake around my waist and pull me close.

The familiar and homey scent of Seokjin overloaded my senses and before I could process anything, his lips landed on mine.

My eyes widened in shock as two things registered in my head. One, we were kissing without even having talked about our fight. And two, we were in public where there were several CEOs and reporters who could easily see us.

But he was my guilty pleasure. So instead of pulling away, I wrapped my hands around his neck and deepened the kiss.

Much to the horror of unsuspecting family.

"I'm not letting you go," he lowly growled.

"Then don't," I hummed, my body reacting for me.

But our moment was cut short when everyone began shrieking at the sight.

"THAT'S THE GIRL HE'S BEEN DATING?!"

Oh sh-

Seokjin quickly pulled away grabbing my hand firmly.

"What are you doing?" I whisper-yelled, the camera lights hitting the back of my head.

"We're going into the bathroom to sort us out and then making a plan to fool our very annoying friends," he said.

The two of us practically sprinted towards the bathroom but the press were hot on our tails.

If there was ever an instance of bad timing, it would be this entire incident.

The other gems were looking at us worriedly, trying to draw the attention away from us and onto them doing something.

But the media were like leeches. They'd latch onto you and suck you clean of your blood.

I don't know what it was, but this whole situation was stressing me out majorly. Maybe it was the anger I was dealing with from putting his family in their place, or probably the fact that the media knew who I was and the very obvious fact that I was pregnant.

The thought of all those hate comments coming at me in full force made my stomach lurch.

Something was seriously wrong.

I felt extremely dizzy and had to clutch onto Seokjin to prevent myself from falling.

Fortunately, Seokjin and I got into a bathroom and locked the door behind us. I leaned against the sink to steady myself so I didn't look suspicious in front of Seokjin.

But just as I was about to break the silence, the strangest feeling sent chills down my legs.

I felt a liquid run down my legs that somehow made me sick to my stomach.

Without a care in the world that Seokjin was right there, I pulled up the bottom of my dress slightly to see a clear liquid running down my legs.

"No way-"

Seokjin looked at me worriedly, "Is everything okay?"

"M-my water. M-my water just b-broke! Oh my god my water just broke!" I shrieked.

Now it was Seokjin's turn to look horrified.

He noticed the liquid running down my legs before his eyes bulged out of his head.

"Oh my god what do we do?!" He panicked.

"Maybe get to a hospital!" I shouted exasperatedly.

"Right s-sorry. Does it hurt?" He asked softly.

I shook my head, "Not yet. But I know the contractions will start soon. Crap how do we get of here without running into the press? They won't let us leave if we run into them."

Seokjin pulled out his phone and dialed a number and put his phone on speaker.

"Hyung?! What the hell happened?! Where are you and Yubin noona?!"

"Hobi not the time! My water just broke and we need to get out of here!" I exclaimed.

"WHAT?! What do you mean your water just broke?!"

"She means that the little human inside of her wants out! Now can you and the guys create a distraction! We need to leave now before her contractions start!" Seokjin ordered.

"Yeah okay! We'll get on that right away!"

He hung up the phone and looked at me worriedly.

"Are you feeling okay?" He asked.

"Honestly, I'm feeling really dizzy. I don't know why, but maybe that's normal," I said softly.

He pulled me in for a comforting hug. I let his warmth envelop me while I tried to calm down.

"Seokjin...this isn't normal. Contractions should've started before my water broke. I've been feeling a bit tired today but nothing else," I hummed worriedly.

He stroked my hair, "I'm going to get you to a hospital as soon as possible."

From the outside a loud commotion was going on but from what it sounded like, it seemed that the boys had gotten to the front of the cameras with their security and were pushing them back knowing full well that the cameras couldn't push them out of the way.

"I think it's clear, let's go," he said.

He slipped his hand into mine and lead me out of the bathroom.

I stumbled slightly while following him to the car and ignoring all the blinding flashes that were trying to catch us.

But we were faster and got out to Seokjin car just in time.

I flimsily got inside, feeling extremely out of it.

"Babe, you're looking really pale," Seokjin murmured worriedly while starting up the car.

"I don't know. I don't feel well. And there aren't contractions but my body hurts," I whimpered.

"Hold on baby. I'll get you there asap."

Seokjin held my hand the entire time, gently squeezing it to let me know he was right beside me. But I knew how worried he was. And to be honest, I was terrified too.

Thankfully, our doctor was conveniently nearby so we got there in record time.

I staggered out of the car feeling extremely lightheaded.

"Woah there darling. Maybe I should carry you," Seokjin said.

Without much energy to protest he scooped me up in his arms despite me probably being way too heavy for him.

He carried me inside of the hospital and frantically searched for a doctor.

"CEO Kim?"

Oh thank god, Doctor Jang.

"Doctor Jang, her water broke!" Seokjin cried desperately. "B-but something is wrong. No contractions and she's feeling super weak."

I could blearily make out Doctor Jang motioning for Seokjin to follow her. My body was carried to a room with the familiar smell of a doctor's office.

"Yubin? Are you okay honey?" Doctor Jang asked.

"Y-yeah..." I groaned.

"Can you change her into this as fast as possible? I think we'll need to induce labor," Doctor Jang said.

Without giving Seokjin timed to question her she left the room leaving me alone with Seokjin.

He gingerly helped me out of my dress and sweetly took off my undergarments before slipping me into the hospital gown.

I laid on the bed feeling exhausted.

With not even a second to ourselves, Doctor Jang burst back into the room with a few nurses with her.

The quickly hooked me up with an epidural so I wouldn't feel the pain.

"Okay, before anything else, Yubin, can you try pushing?" Doctor Jang asked gently.

I held Seokjin's hand trying my best to push.

My stomach lurched making me cry out in pain. Maybe Suyeon was coming out or something else, but it hurt like hell.

My head was spinning and I could feel my grip on Seokjin's hand loosening.

"S-somethings not r-right," I stammered, sweat rolling down my face as my eyes fluttered shut.

I was so sleepy. So sleepy.

"Doctor, her blood pressure is skyrocketing," I distantly heard.

"Has she been really stressed recently?" Doctor Jang asked urgently.

"Oh god Yubin. We got in a fight a few days ago and before that she's been working from home. We just came from a party. The media found out about our relationship and my family was there. Oh god Yubin. Baby please be okay," Seokjin whimpered helplessly.

"CEO Kim, don't worry. We'll take care of her and your daughter. But we have to do a C-Section. She's had no contractions and that could cause infection and her blood pressure is way too high for comfort," the doctor said.

"Seokjin..." I breathed out weakly.

"I'm right here baby. You're going to be okay. They're going to take care of you," his voice wavered.

It took a lot of strength, but I managed to lift one of my arms and find his. I gave him a weak squeeze before my arm went limp.

"Please be okay," he pleaded.

I could feel myself being pulled away from Seokjin just as he choked back a sob.

I was too tired. I wanted to sleep.

So I put my faith in the doctor. This was my fault. If it gets too complicated, save my baby girl.

And with that the world around me faded away.
