chapter thirty-seven—✧♡︎✧—

Felix woke up feeling warm.

For a second, he was confused— then he registered the steady rise and fall of Hyunjin's chest beneath his cheek, the weight of an arm draped around his waist, fingers curled loosely against his hoodie.

Hyunjin stirred slightly, his grip tightening for a second before his eyes fluttered open.

Felix tilted his head up, blinking sleepily. "Hey."

A slow, lazy smile spread across Hyunjin's lips. "Hey."

Neither of them moved.

The realization hit—this was real. Last night happened.

Felix felt something warm bloom in his chest.

Hyunjin chuckled, voice still raspy. "You're smiling."

Felix huffed. "Shut up."

Hyunjin just pulled him closer, burying his face into Felix's hair. "Don't wanna get up."

Felix sighed dramatically. "We have to."

"No, we don't."

Felix pinched his side. "Yes, we do."

Hyunjin groaned, but finally, reluctantly, let Felix slip out of his hold.

The scavenger hunt was a waste of time.

At least, that's what Hyunjin and Felix decided about three minutes in.

The six of them had been grouped together, wandering through the forest looking for random items on a checklist.

Hyunjin leaned into Felix, whispering, "Run?"

Felix nodded immediately.

So, while the others were distracted arguing over whether a twig counted as a "uniquely shaped stick," Felix grabbed Hyunjin's hand and bolted.

By the time they stopped, they were far enough that they couldn't hear the others anymore.

Felix pressed a hand to his chest, catching his breath. "That was too easy."

Hyunjin grinned. "They're gonna kill us."

Felix shrugged. "Worth it."

They stood there for a moment, the sound of leaves rustling around them.

Hyunjin rocked on his heels, glancing at Felix. "So..."

Felix raised a brow. "So?"

Hyunjin cleared his throat, suddenly looking nervous. "I feel like we kinda skipped a step."

Felix tilted his head. "Which step?"

Hyunjin scratched the back of his neck. "The whole actually asking you out part."

Felix blinked.

Hyunjin exhaled. "I mean, we're obviously together now, but... I wanna do it properly, you know?"

Felix stared at him for a second before grinning. "Oh my God." He crossed his arms. "Hwang Hyunjin, are you asking me to be your boyfriend?"

Hyunjin groaned. "Don't make it weird."

Felix bit back a laugh. "Make it cute, then."

Hyunjin rolled his eyes, but his lips twitched. He reached for Felix's hands, intertwining their fingers.

"Felix," he said, gaze softening. "Will you be my boyfriend?"

Felix pretended to think about it.

Hyunjin gasped. "Are you serious?"

Felix laughed. "Obviously, yes, dumbass."

Hyunjin grinned, squeezing his hands. "Good."

Then, he pushed Felix against a tree. Felix barely had time to react before Hyunjin's lips were on his, hands gripping his waist like he couldn't stand being apart anymore.

Felix melted instantly, wrapping his arms around Hyunjin's neck, pulling him closer, closer, closer.

Hyunjin groaned softly, deepening the kiss, pressing Felix tighter against the bark. Their bodies fit perfectly, their kisses turning hungrier.

Hyunjin tilted his head, lips trailing down to Felix's jaw, then to the edge of his neck. Felix sucked in a sharp breath, gripping Hyunjin's hoodie.

Felix was so not ready to go back. Hyunjin was still pressed against him, their breaths mingling, lips swollen from way too many kisses. Felix's heart was still hammering, his fingers still tangled in Hyunjin's hoodie.

"We should go back," he mumbled, but made no move to pull away.

Hyunjin sighed dramatically. "I hate reality."

Felix snorted, finally loosening his grip. "C'mon, before they send a search party."

Hyunjin groaned, but stepped back, running a hand through his hair. "Fine."

Felix took a second to collect himself—cool down—before they started walking back.

The moment they reappeared, Jisung spotted them first, again. "Oh, look who finally decided to show up," he drawled, arms crossed.

Seungmin turned, raised a brow, and immediately looked disgusted. "You whores have been making out."

Felix froze. "No, we haven't."

Seungmin gestured vaguely. "Your faces tell another story."

Hyunjin wiped his mouth with his sleeve, giving them an innocent smile. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Jeongin squinted. "Yeah, okay, because disappearing for thirty minutes totally makes sense when we're in the middle of a game."

Changbin exhaled, unimpressed. "At least pretend to care."

Felix pouted. "We do care."

Jisung scoffed. "Right. About each other."

Hyunjin smirked. "Exactly."

Jisung fake-gagged. "I regret ever supporting this."

Seungmin rolled his eyes. "Too late now."

Changbin, despite his earlier complaints, sighed. "I mean... at least it's finally happening."

Jeongin groaned. "Let's just finish this game."
