Name Your Wishes

It would have been awfully late that Warden remembered waking up suddenly, but didn't exactly remember the reason why.

He laid on his arm staring at his door. The room was still somewhat dark as he did so considering his glasses seemed to make the room look somewhat brighter. Onceler looked over Wardens side, noticed his immediate tension, and ran his hand up his chest. Warden turned his head and looked over at him as Onceler slicked his hair back carefully out of his face and rubbed his cheek.

"You worry too much you know that."

"Oncie I've done something terrible that I can't take back."

Warden looked down and held his arms. He was scared and confused, and his eyes began to water. Onceler ran his hand on his chest softly looking down at him as his fingers carefully wiped his watered eyes to avoid any tears to form.

"Warden, it was a choice made in anger and I promise, even if this started because of me I'll finish it with you."

Warden sat up and looked at him. "That includes killing innocent people Onceler. I don't want you to do that."

Onceler held his hand softly and looked at him. "Warden, that doesn't matter to me right now." he thought for a moment. "The only thing that matters to me currently is that you're okay and safe from harms way."He said before he stopped after his sentence and thought for a moment. "Warden, isn't your real name right?"

Warden looked up at him and blushed. "W-What? No no of course it is." he chuckled nervously grinning. "That's what I've been called all my life I'm The Warden. Just the Warden."

Onceler was not buying into his nervous rambling. "Warden I know that's not your real name."

"I'd rather not talk about it Onceler." He held his arms and looked down in a depressed motion. Onceler looked at him and took his hand carefully into his. He held it to his mouth and kissed it softly. "You can tell me."

Wardens eyes teared up thinking about it. His name was something that was associated with such terrible childhood memories that he often forgot it existed. He looked at Onceler and mumbled softly under his breath. Onceler asked once again. "Warden-"

"It's Mark Davis Onceler. My names Markus."

Onceler looked at him and his eyes widened slightly. "It's?"

"Mark! Now stop calling me that!" He looked at him upset with tears down his cheeks and held his arms as he looked away from him. Onceler put his hand on Wardens shoulder. "Warden why does that upset you?"

Warden turned around and looked at Onceler sadly, as Onceler wiped the tears from his eyes. "Because the only one who called me that was my father. I can consistently hear it ring through my head. Markus was such a failure and a disappointment that I pretend Markus doesn't exist." More tears fell as Onceler kept wiping them off his cheeks.

"I think Markus is a handsome name." Onceler held Wardens chin making him look at him. Warden sniffled, but showed a soft smile to him and hugged him gently pressing his face into his chest. Onceler ran his fingers through his hair gently, as Warden closed his eyes in complete relaxation.

He felt safe holding him gently, but hopefully wouldn't ever have to repeat the name that brought back such crude and horrible thoughts.
