Song: You and I - Ingrid Michaelson

The Great Hall was glowing magically, decked out perfectly for the start-of-term feast. The four long tables were already filled with students in their perspective houses, all in full uniform as they watched the new first years get sorted.

"Can't believe it's my second year already, last year blew by quick." Madelyn told as she watched a small brown-haired boy jumping up to the stool. "Yeah and we're in our fourth." Y/N responded as Caleb, Lizzy and Aidan chuckled.

"Reckon it'd be a normal year?" Aidan questioned as he glanced over to the group, earning a sigh from the Ravenclaw as she leaned back into her seat, "It's been my dream since first year." she retaliated as she flickered her gaze towards the Ravenclaw.

Instantly, feeling her worries fly away as her lips curled up into a smile at the sight of the bushy-haired girl, she watched as her girlfriend smiled at the new Gryffindors first years hopping over to their table.

Suddenly, she felt someone kicking her from under the table causing her to shift her gaze down to Lizzy who sat across from her, Lizzy held a smirked expression which the Ravenclaw knew too well. She rolled her eyes and huffed, "What do you want now?"

Lizzy shrugged playfully as she exchanged glances with Aidan and Caleb before turning back to the Ravenclaw, "You'll need to learn to stop staring." she mused as the Ravenclaw scoffed, "Oh shut up, Elizabeth. You can't blame me for being attracted to my girlfriend."

Madelyn quirked an eyebrow at the Ravenclaw, tilting her head to the side curiously, "You have a girlfriend?" she questioned innocently as the Ravenclaw wheeled her head towards her, her cheeks flashing a subtle pink as she let out a nervous laugh, "Uh..y-yeah I do.."

Y/N started to feel her nerves build up as the others watched the interaction amusingly, Madelyn squinted her eyes for a while before her face lit up, "Who is it? Is she pretty? What house is she? Do you love her?" she rambled out in a breath as the Ravenclaw snickered at her reaction.

"Woah, calm down there Mads, I feel like I'm being interrogated here." she chuckled as Madelyn's lips started to purse together, ducking her head down as her cheeks turned a pink hue, "Sorry." she murmured lowly, though the Ravenclaw giggled as she patted the girl softly on the shoulder.

"It's fine, Mads, don't worry about it. How about this, I'll introduce you to her when we're free, maybe the weekends, does that sound alright to you?" she questioned as Madelyn's face lit up once more, without a second thought she nodded her head up and down quickly, "Yes, please!"

The Ravenclaw snickered as she turned back to the front of the hall, noticing the Sorting Ceremony had ended as Dumbledore ascended in front of the High Table and cleared his throat.

Instantly the hall fell silent as everybody's attention was now towards the old wizard, "Before we get on with our scrumptious meals, I would like to ask for your attention while I give out a few notices."

"Mr Filch, the caretaker, has asked me to tell you that the list of object forbidden inside the castle has this year been extended to include Screaming Yo-yos, Fanged Frisbees and Ever-Bashing Boomerangs. The full list comprises some four hundred and thirty-seven items, I believe and can be viewed in Mr Filch's office, if anybody would like to check it." he continued as the corners of his mouth twitched every so slightly, "It is also my painful duty to inform you that the inter-house Quidditch Cup will not take place this year."

Instantly, soft gasps and whispers filled the Great Hall. The Ravenclaw exchanged puzzled looks with the group, "What?" she gasped, though Caleb, Lizzy and Aidan only held the same confused look as they shrugged in response.

Dumbledore noticed the soft whispers around the hall as he cleared his throat causing the hall to fall silent once more, "This is due to an event that will be starting next week and continuing throughout the school year, taking up much of the teachers' time and energy but I am sure you will all enjoy it immensely. I have great pleasure in announcing that his year at Hogwarts-"

At that moment, there was a deafening rumble of thunder and the doors of the Great Hall banged open, all students were now shifting their attention towards the doors.

It was a man that stood in the doorway, leaning upon a long staff, shrouded in a black traveling cloak. Suddenly, a brightly illuminated by a fork of lightning flashed across the ceiling. He lowered his hood, shook out a shoulder length mane of grizzled, light greyed hair, then began to walk up towards the teachers table.

A dull clunk echoed through the Hall on his every other step. He reached the end of the top table, turned right and limped heavily towards Dumbledore. Another flash of lighting crossed the ceiling, a few students gasped at the sight.

The lighting had thrown the man's face into sharp relief, it was a face Y/N nor Harry had ever seen. Every inch of the skin seemed to be scarred. The mouth looked like a diagonal gash, what caught the Ravenclaws attention most is the man's eyes that made him frightening.

One of them was small, dark and beady. The other was large round as a coin, and a vivid, electric blue. The blue eye was moving ceaselessly, without blinking, and was rolling up down and from side to side, quite independently f the normal eye.

The stranger reached Dumbledore and stretched out a hand that was as badly scarred as his face, and Dumbledore shook it, they muttered a few words that couldn't be heard but he old wizard seemed to be making some enquiry of the stranger =m who shook his head unsmilingly and replied in an under-tone.

Dumbledore gestured for the man to take the empty seat on his right-hand side. As the man took his seat he pulled out a flask and tips it to his lips. The Ravenclaw fascinated watched every move, "Isn't that.." she trailed off as she and the group's eyes stayed glued to the stranger on the high table.

"Alastor Moody?" Aidan interjected as they exchanged uncertain glances before turning back to the High Table, "The Auror?" Lizzy questioned as they watched Moody take another sip of his flask.

"What'd you reckon his drinking?" Caleb asked as he turned to the Ravenclaw who was still transfixed to Moody on the High table, "Dunno but I doubt it's pumpkin juice."

Just then, Dumbledore turned back to face the Hall, "May I introduce our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Moody."

Usually, there'd be an applause to greet new teachers but none of the staff nor students clapped except Dumbledore and Hagrid. Both of them put their hands together and applauded, but the sound echoed dismally into the silence and they stopped fairly quickly.

Dumbledore cleared his throat to break the awkward silence as he once against continued his speech, "As I was saying...we are to have the honor of hosting a very exciting event over the coming months, an event which has not been held for over a century. It is my very great pleasure to inform you that the Triwizard Tournament will be taking place at Hogwarts this year."

"You're JOKING!" Fred Weasley cheered loudly as soft snickers emerged from other students including Dumbledore himself.

"I'm not joking, Mr Weasley." Dumbledore said as he held up his hand, a gesture for the students to fall silent once more, "More information for the tournament will be informed next week, when our special guests from Beauxbaton and Drumstrang will be arriving next week. I do hope each and every one of you to be in your best behavior during the period of their arrival."

The Ravenclaw felt intrigued by the tournament, she hated to admit it but she was sure that if she had the chance she would participate. It seems that she wasn't the only one as students around the Great Hall held excited and determined expressions.

"As for now, Tuck in!" Dumbledore sounded as scrumptious dishes of food filled up the four long tables. Sounds of students cheering now filled the Great Hall as they all indulged in their feast.

The Ravenclaw wasted no time as she took every type of dish she could lay her hands on onto her plate. As she sat back down her seat she wasn't surprised to see the dark-skinned boy already munching hungrily on his plate of food, she let out a soft snicker before digging in her own plate.

"You think Professor Moody's class'll be as fun as Professor Lupin's" Aidan questioned as he glanced up to the rest of the group. The Ravenclaw chewed on her piece of roasted beef before shaking her head, "I doubt so, I don't think anyone can beat Lupin's classes."

The group hummed in agreement as they recalled all their classes with Professor Lupin, it was the only class where they were able to use more practical skills than theoretical ones. "I dunno about you lot, but Mad-eye seems quite scary to me." Caleb shuddered as he took a sip of his goblet.

Y/N nodded as she took one final glance at the new Professor, accidentally locking eyes with him as he held a blank face, she didn't know why but she had a bad gut feeling about the new professor, but she decided to brush it off and turned back to the plate of food in front of her.

"I sure hope it isn't too bad. Besides it'll only be a week til we see our new guests, I heard Beauxbaton's students are quite the gorgeous ones." Aidan beamed as Lizzy rolled her eyes and scoffed at the boy's remark, "Oh please, it's not like you'll stand a chance with them."

Aidan shot the blonde-haired girl an offended look to which she playfully shrugged at, the Ravenclaw snickered as he watched the two amusingly before shifting her gaze towards the Gryffindor table.

Her smile slowly fell as her lips began pursing together, she noticed the bushy-haired girl's plate seemed untouched as she held a disgusted look. The bushy-haired girl seemed to notice the Ravenclaw staring at her as she lifted her gaze and locked it with hers.

Y/N sent the girl a what's-wrong look but the bushy-haired girl only shook her head and gave her an it's-nothing-love look, though the Ravenclaw knew there was something bothering her but she figured she'll ask her more about it after the feast.

Crowds of students were now exiting the Hall, conversations about the Triwizard could be heard all over as the Ravenclaw exited the Hall with Caleb, Lizzy and Aidan.

As Caleb, Lizzy and Aidan were conversed in their own conversation the Ravenclaw was looking around the crowds of students, her eyes searching for a certain trio that- ah! there they are.

The Ravenclaw quickened her pace as she caught up with the trio, they too seemed to be talking about the Tournament. "I think we'd survive it, don't you Harry? We've already gone through so mu-" Ron boasted but was soon cut off by the bushy-haired girl.

"Don't be stupid, Ronald. There's a reason the Tournament hasn't been held for a century, there were people dying from the it." Hermione retaliated as the red-haired boy rolled his eyes and scoffed, "How'd you know about the Tournament."

"It's because I read. It's in Hogwarts: A History, the last time the tournament was held was at 1792, where three headmasters were injured by a rampaging cockatrice. It also wrote how the tasks were extremely dangerous." she retorted as the red-haired had nothing to say back, all he did was gave the bushy-haired girl a side glance.

The Ravenclaw felt a thick tension between the two as she leaned over to Harry's side, "What's going on with Mione? She seems more angry today." she questioned as she glanced over to her girlfriend whose jaw was clenched tightly together, clearly irritated by something.

Harry sighed as he leaned closer to the girl's ear, "Nearly Headless Nick told her about how Hogwarts dishes were served by hundreds of elves, she didn't like the idea very much and thought it was elf slavery." he whispered softly so only he and the girl could hear.

The girl nodded understandingly as her eyebrows furrowed together, her mind began to piece the pieces together, "That's why she didn't want to eat at the feast?" she questioned softly as Harry nodded a 'yes' in response.

The Ravenclaw sighed as she took another glance at her girlfriend's slightly upset look, instinctively she motioned next to the bushy-haired girl and wrapped her arms around her waist startling Hermione a little by the sudden contact.

The bushy-haired girl couldn't help her lips that slowly curled into a smile as she glanced over to the Ravenclaw beside her, "Hi." she muttered softly as the Ravenclaw returned a grin, "Hi, Angel."

Y/N felt the girl in her hold leaned closer to her side as they walked up the Grand Staircase, the others trailed behind as they continued their talk about the Triwizard Tournament and the two schools that'll be joining next week.

"What'd you think about the Tournament?" Y/N questioned curiously as she glanced down to the bushy-haired girl. Hermione let out a sigh as she shrugged slightly, "I find it dangerous but we'll have to wait to know more about it, I think the Dumbledore would only agree to it if they could confirm no other students or teachers would get hurt."

"Mhm..yeah.." she trailed off as she shared a glance with the bushy-haired girl, "Are you hungry? At all? I noticed you hadn't touch your food at all during the feast."

The bushy-haired girl let out a huff as she shook her head, "No...I'm fine." she said in a distinctive voice. Just then, her stomach let out a low grumble earning a snicker from the Ravenclaw as the bushy-haired girl's cheeks flashed a light pink.

The bushy-haired girl flashed Y/N a scolding glare as she swatted her shoulder, the Ravenclaw calmed herself down as she pulled the bushy-haired girl back to her side, "Okay, okay. Sorry!" she apologized but the bushy-haired girl didn't seem to forgive the girl as she huffed and crossed her arms.

"How about this, I've got some Cauldron Cakes and Peppermint Toads back in my dorm, it's my secret stash. It's not much but I don't think I'd fancy my girlfriend starving to sleep." she mused as the bushy-haired girl hesitantly nodded.

The Ravenclaw grinned as they approached the Fat Lady painting, kissing her cheek before letting her go through the painting, "I'll be back in a minute." she told as the bushy-haired girl nodded and entered the painting. Followed by the Raven-haired boy and the redhead as she waved them goodbye and muttered a 'goodnight' to each of them.

"What do you mean 'you'll be back in a minute.'" Lizzy questioned, giving the girl a skeptical look as she eyed her up and down. The Ravenclaw held an innocent grin as she shrugged playfully and turned around, ascending the stairs that led towards her common room.

Lizzy scoffed as she quickly caught up with the girl, Caleb and Aidan following behind as they all ascended the staircase, "Seriously. Y/L/N, where are you going?"

"Are you really going to sneak away with Hermione on your first day back?" Aidan asked in a slightly warning tone, though the Ravenclaw only rolled her eyes and huffed in response, "I'm just getting her some food, she didn't touch her plate at all back at the feast."

Caleb, Lizzy and Aidan exchanged quizzical glances as they ascended the Ravenclaw tower, "Why didn't she eat?" Caleb questioned curiously. The Ravenclaw sighed as she knocked on the eagle knocker three times before turning to the group, "She heard that house-elves were the one cooking our foods, she wasn't very fond of the idea and thought it was slavery."

"What am I?" a voice from the door sounded.

The Ravenclaw turned back to the door and held a knowing look, "A Question." she responded as a ding! sounded from the door, she pushed the door open and entered the common room as the others trailed behind.

"But house-elves enjoy working, don't they?" Lizzy asked as the Ravenclaw nodded, "They do, but you can't blame Hermione, she told me before she found me and Harry she had an horrible encounter with Winky, Mr Crouch's elf."

Aidan seemed intrigued as he took a seat on one of the blue couches, "What happened?" he asked. Y/N motioned to the sofa next to him and took a seat, "She said that Mr Crouch treated Winky horribly for not obeying his orders, she told me that Mr Crouch ordered Winky to stay in the tent but she didn't and that Mr Crouch wasn't so forgiving about it." she told nonchalantly as the group hummed understandingly.

"Maybe it's because they don't use house-elves in the Muggle world, that's why she thought it wasn't right." Aidan suggested, though the Ravenclaw didn't respond as she leaped up to her two feet, "Well whatever it is, I sure hope she doesn't get too overworked from it, I'd rather not have her starve herself everyday. Speaking of, I better go and grab her some food." she stated as she motioned to the stairs for the girl dormitories before shooting the boy's one last glance.

"Goodnight, boys." she beamed as the boys motioned to the stairs for their dorms and waved at the girl, "Night, Y/N, Night Lizzy."

Then, she and Lizzy walked up the stairs and headed to their dorms, swinging the door open revealing the same three poster beds covered in blue and bronze, their trunks already placed on their perspective beds. Y/N smiled at the sight as she noticed Padma already laying in her bed, she greeted her before motioning to her trunk.

Unpacking some clothes and books before finding her secret stash of candy and headed back out of the dormitory and out the common room. She practically ran down the stairs of the tower and within seconds found herself already in front of the fat lady portrait.

"And what brings you here, my dear?" the Fat Lady questioned as she flashed the Ravenclaw an unwelcoming glare. Y/N held an innocent smile as her heels swayed back and forth, her bag of candy behind her back, "Nothing, just waiting for someone."

Just then, the portrait swung open and revealed the bushy-haired girl, already dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants. The Ravenclaw beamed at the bushy-haired girl as she pulled out the bag of candies from behind her back and handed it out to the girl, "Here, it's not much and it isn't the healthiest of foods but it's something to help your empty stomach with."

The bushy-haired girl flashed the ravenclaw a thankful grin and gave her a peck on the lips before accepting the bag of candies, "Thanks, love. Seriously, you didn't have to-"

grrrr

The sound of her stomach grumbling once more made the Ravenclaw let out a snicker but she quickly held it back before the bushy-haired girl could tell her off, "Mhm..I think you're body says otherwise." she mused as the bushy-haired girl shot her a glare before her cheeks started to heat up, "Shut up, Y/L/N."

Y/N faked an offended expression as she scoffed dramatically, "Is that how you treat you're savior? You would''ve starve to death if it weren't for me." she retorted playfully as the bushy-haired girl rolled her eyes and huffed irritatedly, "How'd I end up with someone so childish."

"Oh Granger, my personality will be the last thing keeping you sane if we were locked in a basement." Y/N countered back, though the bushy-haired girl crossed her arms in response, "But if I remember correctly we're not stuck in a basement or anywhere for that matter."

"Fine, whatever helps you sleep at night, Granger." Y/N mused amusingly as she earned a scoff from her girlfriend. Then, the Ravenclaw gave her girlfriend one last peck on the cheek before waving her goodbye, "Night, Angel. Don't miss me too much."

The bushy-haired girl rolled her eyes and shook her head disapprovingly, "Not planning to." she countered as she turned back to the Portrait and mumbled the password before heading in.

"Mhm..right, love you." The Ravenclaw hummed as she heard a faint 'love you too' sounded from the portrait as it shut closed, she noticed the Fat Lady holding a smirk expression as she returned a quizzical look, "What?"

The Fat Lady flashed her an unamused look, "Next time flirt somewhere else, I'm a little occupied here." she retaliated as the Ravenclaw rolled her eyes and nodded, "Right." she responded as she ascended the staircase and head back to her room.

Every step of the way she couldn't help her smile from widening, the thought of her and the bushy-haired girl seemed to fill her mind and lighten up her mood every time, she loved how they'd both tease each other everyday but still show affection towards one another, she couldn't help but feel like the luckiest girl on earth.
