Chapter 10 -- A Night To Remember

Zayn’s P.O.V.

My hands were shaking the entire way to Lola’s house. I don’t know why I’m so nervous. Lola is one of my best friends and I have no reason to be nervous around her. I pulled into her driveway and put my land rover in park. This was it. I walked to the door and hit the doorbell. By this point I was literally shaking. Just calm down Zayn. Calm down. The door opened and I was greeted with Vera’s face.

“Hey Vera.” I smiled.

“Hi Zayn. Come in.” she said.

I followed her into the house and walked to the living room.

“Lola will be right down.” she said.

I sat down on the couch and waited for her. I then heard her light footsteps and quickly stood up. When I turned around my heart stopped.

Lola’s P.O.V

I had gone back upstairs to my room to apply some perfume when I heard the doorbell and my eyes got huge. I grabbed Vera’s arm and she laughed.

“I’ll go get it.” she squealed.

I watched as she walked down the hall and to the stairs. I could hear her greeting Zayn from the bottom of the stairs. I just kept thinking about how much I like him. All the memories we’ve made this past month were rushing through my head. I let out a huge breath and headed for the stairs. I peaked over the railing and saw Zayn sitting on the couch. He’s so hot. Whoa. I can’t believe I just thought that. He’s one of my best friends.

I walked down the stairs and he jumped from his seat and turned to me. I watched as his eyes got bigger and then that famous grin of his appeared on his face. He met me at the bottom of the stairs and I put my arms around his neck. He then stroked my cheek and smiled.

“Are you ready to go?” he asked.

“Definitely.” I smiled and he took my hand. I hugged Vera goodbye and he led me to his car. He walked to my side and opened the door for me and then he ran around to his side.

“So are you going to tell me where we are going?” I asked.

He took my hand and held it tightly.

“Sorry babe. It’s a surprise.” he smiled.

“Ughhh I hate surprises.” I complained.

“No you don’t.” he laughed.

“And how would you know that?” I asked.

“Well I was surprise and me asking you out was a surprise right?” he asked.

“Very clever Malik.” I laughed.

As we were driving, he held on to my hand all the way to our destination. Eventually he pulled into a parking lot of a restaurant that was unfamiliar to me.

“Oh so we’re going to dinner. Perfect.” I said.

“Well I can’t keep this part a surprise.” he laughed. What did he mean by this part? Was there more than one surprise? Great.

He got out of the car and opened the door for me and took my hand.

“Come on, let’s go.” he smiled.

He took my hand and he led me into the beautiful restaurant called Melisse.

Zayn’s P.O.V

I put the car in park and walked to Lola’s side and opened the door for her. She got out and I took her by the hand and led her inside.

I walked up to the hostess and a huge smile appeared on her face.

“Well hello there.” she said.

I pulled Lola closer to me and put my arm around her waist.

“Hello love. Reservations under Malik.” I said.

“Right this way.” she said. I grabbed Lola by the hand and she followed behind me to our table.

“Here you go.” the hostess smiled and walked away. I pulled Lola’s chair out for her and she smiled.

“Thanks.” she replied.

“Anything for you.” I smiled.

“This place is beautiful.” she said.

“It really is.” I agreed.

“Have you been here before?” she asked.

I have but the only other time was with Perrie and I didn’t want to bring her up.

“Ya I have once.” I said.

“Ohh.” she said.

Our server came back and took our drink order.

“Babe, you could have got something else besides water.” I said.

“Its okay. I’m not in the mood for soda.” she said.

I leaned across the table and took her hand.

“I’m so glad you said yes.” I smiled.

“Well I’m so glad you asked me.” she smiled. I leaned forward and kissed her cheek.

The server came back and took our order. Lola didn’t know what to get so I ordered for her. After we finished dinner, we shared a desert.

“I’m so glad you don’t starve yourself.” I said.

“Why would I? It's terrible for yourself and it's no way to live.” she said.

“You’re so right. I like you the way you are, you’re perfect size.” I smiled.

“Compliments won’t get you anywhere Malik.” she laughed.

“What? Can’t I give my girl compliments?” I laughed.

She looked up at me when I said my girl and smiled. Her eyes looked so blue tonight.

The server eventually came back with the bill and I paid for both of us and we left.

“Thanks so much for dinner.” Lola said.

I grabbed her hand and kissed it.

“You’re welcome.” I smiled.

“Where are we going now?” she asked

“Just wait and see.” I smirked.

Lola’s P.O.V

My heart started beating when I realized where we were.

“Come on. We’re going for a walk on the beach.” he said. He walked over to my side of the car and opened my door. I got out and he instantly took my hand. We thrn walked along the shoreline, putting our feet in the water. 

“It’s so beautiful.” I said looking out into the sunset.

Zayn was standing behind me and he wrapped his arms around me and I leaned back into him.

“I’ve got one more surprise for you.” he whispered in my ear.

He took my hand and led me towards the beach house. There were tons of people, mostly couples, dancing. How did he know I liked to dance?

“Stay here for one sec.” he said. I watched him as he walked up to the DJ and requested a song.

“Per request we're gonna slow it down for a bit. This young man would like to dedicate this song to his beautiful lady.” the DJ said and pointed to me. Everyone turned to look at me and then they went back to their dancing.

Zayn eventually walked back towards me and pulled me close.

“Let’s dance.” he said. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he put his hands on my waist and we swayed to the music. My heart sank when I heart the song being played.

“I love this song.” I said looking into Zayn’s eyes.

“I know you do. Which is why I dedicated it to you.” he said.

Zayn had dedicated the song A Thousand Years by Christiana Perri to me. As we were dancing, he held me tightly and his eyes never left my mine. He then started singing to me when the chorus came on.

“One step closer. I have died everyday waiting for you. Darlin' don't be afraid, I have loved you for a Thousand years. I'll love you for a Thousand more. And all along I believed I would find you, Time has brought Your heart to me, I have loved you for a Thousand years. I'll love you for a Thousand more.” he sang.

His voice was so beautiful and it brought tears to my eyes. He began stroking my cheek and I just looked into his eyes.

“Zayn?” I said.

“Ya?” he asked.

“Kiss me.” I said.

The words were barely out of my mouth when Zayn kissed me. His lips were so soft and I wrapped my hands around his neck. He then pulled away from me for a few seconds and I stared into his eyes, worrying that he didn’t like it.

“Will you be my girlfriend?” he asked.

“I thought you would never ask.” I smiled and pulled his lips back to mine. We continued kissing until the song ended. After the song was over, he took my hand and led me back to the car.

“I’m so happy I can call you mine now.” he smiled.

I looked into his eyes and he leaned forward and kissed me.

“Lo, I want you to hold on to something for me.” he said.

I looked at him in confusion and he pulled a necklace off of his neck.

“I want you to wear this everyday.” he said while  putting it around my neck.

“But this is one of your lucky necklaces.” I said.

“As long as I have you I’m always lucky.” he said and stroked my cheek. Our lips met again and I could feel his lips turn into a smile. I pulled away from him and stroked his cheek. He started his car and we drove off. I put my hand on his cheek and he put his hand over mine. Before going home we decided to stop at a coffee shop. I got a strawberry smoothie with whip and he got a latte. We sat down at a table and enjoyed each others company. As we were talking, I dipped my finger into the whip in my smoothie pretending to eat it but then I wiped it on Zayn’s nose. He gave me a startled look and then laughed. He then wiped it off his nose and ate it.

“Does it taste good?” I laughed. He smirked at me and then leaned forward and pressed his lips on mine.

“Yup it tastes good.” I laughed. We stayed in the coffee shop for a good hour and we were laughing our heads off. I can’t believe I waited this long to have so much fun.

We drove home and Zayn held my hand the entire way home as usual. We walked to my front door and he just smiled at me.

“I seriously had so much fun. Thanks for everything” I smiled.

“I should be thanking you. Thanks for being mine.” he laughed.

I leaned forward and kissed him. He held me tightly by the waist and I brushed my hands through his hair. He then pulled away and looked into my eyes.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.” he said and pecked my lips.

“Okay.” I smiled.

“Goodnight.” he said.

I walked into the house and leaned my back on the door. I slowly slid down and sat on the floor with my hands covering my mouth.

“So how did things go with my man, bitch?” my sister snapped as she walked around the corner.

“Isn’t it past your bed time Addison? Do I have to call mommy?” I asked.

“You’re really funny. Just listen here Lola. Zayn has always been mine and he will be. No matter how much you think he loves you, he loves me a thousand times more.” she spat.

“You’re so delusional Addison. Just because you fan girled over him before I became famous doesn’t make him yours. Zayn has loved me from the day we met. He tells me all the time about how he can’t stand you and knows you’re a liar. So be mature for once and grow up!” I screamed.

I watched as her eyes turn from calm to beyond pissed.

“You’re gonna regret that Lola.” she said.

“You try any funny business and I will kick you out of my house. You hear that Addison? My house!” I screamed and pushed past her. She tried grabbing on to my arm but I whipped it away. I then ran upstairs to Vera’s room and locked the door.

“Hey sis! How was your date?” she asked.

“Great, but Addison is so psycho. Come spend the night in my room.” I said.

“Okay. Be right there.” she smiled.

As I walked out of Vera’s room, I passed Addison in the hall and she gave me the deadliest glare ever.

I ran to my room and instantly Vera was in there. I changed into my pajamas, as Vera put a movie in. She then laid down and I laid down next to her.

“I’m so happy I have one normal sister who is there for me.” I smiled.

“I’ll always be here for you Lola.” she smiled. “Now tell me how you’re date went!”

“Well he took me to this french restaurant called Melisse and it was seriously to die for.” I said.

“Ya then what?” she laughed.

“We took a walk on the beach and then went up to the beach house where they were having a couples night and dancing. He then dedicated the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri to me and he sang the chorus to me.” I smiled.

“Oh my gosh Lo! That’s amazing!” she squealed.

“Wait it gets better! He then asked me to be his girlfriend, we kissed for the first time, and then he asked me to wear this for him.” I said and picked up the necklace Zayn gave me.

Vera hugged me and then giggled into my hair.

“I’m so happy for you.” she smiled.

“Thanks, but now I need to tell you about Addison. I walked in and the first thing she said to me was how was your date bitch. Then she went on some rampage about how Zayn was hers and blah blah blah and I said if she doesn’t knock it off, I’m going to kick her out.” I explained.

“That’s good. You should threaten her. I can’t believe our own sister calls us bitches. I am her twin and she still calls me one.” Vera said.

“Don’t worry Ver. Mom is coming home from her cruise tomorrow and she won’t let Addison act like this.” I explained.

Vera hugged me and then turned her back to me and fell asleep. I fell asleep within in minutes. 

Zayn’s P.O.V.

I unlocked the door to our flat and the lads were waiting up for me.

“Well look who’s back.” Louis said.

“Here I am lads.” I laughed.

“How was your date with Lola?” Niall asked.

“It was great. She finally gave me permission to kiss her.” I said.

“Ooh get it!” Harry said.

“Shut up Harold. Anyways I asked her to be my girlfriend, she said yes, and then I gave her my lucky necklace to wear.” I explained.

“Sounds like you had a good time.” Liam said.

“I did. Thanks for the idea Lili.” I said and went upstairs.

I headed upstairs and decided to head to bed. I stripped down to my boxers and cra
